Well it was the beginning of a 3 year partnership. One plus had already decided on their hardware beforehand and hassleblad had to work with that. Next year we should see more coordinated partnership with both hardware and software.
The color science is what OnePlus lags behind in. Hardware is top notch! Besides, just think about how high the price will go if Hassleblad starts implementing its own hardware! Plus I think these minor issues will be sorted out with the coming software updates coz Hassleblad team will be working hand-in-hand with OnePlus team!

Awesome that you put the camera through its paces and took the time to compose pictures properly and understood the differences between hardware and software. The portrait shots looked fantastic. Yes! Thank you for acknowledging that some issues are more on the image processing and can be corrected through software updates (in which Hasselblad can contribute).

I agree with this review. What I'm experiencing is the photos are more lighting dependent than other high end devices I've used hopefully the next Oxygen OS update will address these inconsistencies
Your video ideas and testing scenarios are always interesting. I would suggest a comparison of Oneplus 9 Pro vs. Oneplus 9. Video Tite can be - Go for Pro or No!
Great Video, which Version of Oxygen OS did you use when taking the images. I have a 9 Pro with 11.3.3. and can't really say theat the shadows are crushed that much. Stiil white balance is iffy sometimes and I feel there is too much post process sharpening. This is all better in Pro mode I have to say!

Now I own 13 smartphones. Ofc not all of them are the latest, there is my very first phone, iPhone 6, and the others are all Android phones like Xiaomi, Honor, OnePlus, Red Magic, etc.
I think most problems will vanish if you set the exposure manually, shoot RAW and process the files in Lightroom, DxO Photo Lab or any other photo software. The web is chock full of reviews of the OnePlus 9 Pro and non-Pro but obviously nobody tried that.
Because very VERY few people are willing to go through that trouble for photos taken on their phone (nor should they). It's not worth my time to talk about workarounds for problems that no one will use.

As of right now, you don't seem to be able to use the ultrawide or the telephoto in the Pro mode at all. All of the samples in this video were shot using the "Photo" "Video" "Portrait" or "NightScape" modes.
I just ordered a OP9P for like 350 thank you for both your videos this phone is definitely slept on. Why get a midrange when u can bag a year old flagship 👌🏿
Nice enough. But way too expensive, especially here in Canada. $1,500+ is way too much. Full stop! Just get a S21 Ultra at this point, zoom capabilities are far better.
It does seem like that sometimes, yeah. Unfortunately, that isn't quite as easy as flicking a few switches. It's a shame too, because OxygenOS is one of the best android skins out there. They just haven't quite figured out the cameras yet.
phone camera photos are way better now. any color can easily be fixed in post. theres no logic to collaborate spend millions just to tweak colors. what they shouldve focused in, is something that is more obvious. like HDR or video. no phone provides great low light video. thats a field yet to be mastered. every other camera changes are incremental and not really worth upgrading yearly.
The Hasselblad branding is just the color science. I was expecting they'll implement the hardware in this version.

Maybe you could compare it to S21U and 12PM. One plus algorithm is consistently inconsistent.

The One Plus 9 Pro seems like it can be a real competitor with other flag ships simply by updating their software.
It does seem like that sometimes, yeah. Unfortunately, that isn't quite as easy as flicking a few switches.
