The last 10 minutes really felt like they weren't sure if the show was going to get a season 3, so much so that I'm not sure how it picks back up next season. The Boys disbanded, Homelander just kind of went back to doing his own thing, Ryan was bookshelved, and Stormfront had both her reputation and her body ripped apart. Obviously they'll figure out a way to start it back up but couldn't help thinking that it felt like a series finale while watching it.

I guess for the “How are they able to walk around in public” just think to yourself; right now how many people you can name on the FBI top-10 most wanted list?
Yeah but in this universe people are obsessed with Vaught. You see Vaught on pretty much every TV in the show. Our current society isn't really obsessed like that but the things that DO circulate in the media we do know about. At least the majority of the population does. Think about like any mass shooting. Everyone knows the shooter and you see their face on the news for weeks.
I think the public outing of homelander will be when he kills the president, who I'm guessing will be Newman by end of season 4. The public won't know she is a supe and will turn on homelander, causing him to loose it. And taking power of the white house and will be killed eventually probably end of season 5 by the boys and black noir, as a nod to the comics. With the boys then killing noir and closing down vaught, by forcing a defense less Edgar into a corner
I disagree about Maeve being Homelander Light! I can see why you think that but I don't see how you think the plane was on her?? Homelander probably did the whole thing that way on purpose so that he could give the heartfelt message to the press about "if we were in the military we would never have let this happen". He's smarter than we think, Maeve was a victim in that scene as much as anyone else, besides the fact that HL was willing to bail her out by flying off with her.
One thing I like also about this show is that it's basically about a death squad and also deconstructing some of the movies that pretty up death squads by labelling them as something else. It shows how marginal, squeezed, desperate, and disavowed these guys are. Disavowal also means their handlers half the time are ready to cut them off or betray them.
I swear when Maze said "Then nobody will ever cheer your name ever again" I thought for sure Homelander was going to say " Then they will just have to Scream it!" And it was going to be Maze vs Homelander where he would kill her and become the final heel turn to dictator 😲
The boys and supernatural have a lot of technical stuffs in common. I mean old tricks in the book from supernatural has been repacked in the boys. Backstabbing - When the antagonists are focusing on other characters, some miracle knife [or in this case, Almond joint and Maeve sucker punch] will show up out of nowhere from their back. Big fight avoidance - if the big fight that can destroy a lot of the surroundings is gonna happen, it's not gonna happen. there'll be something or someone show up to prevent that from happen. Unconsciousness for budget saving - every time if the CG might be involved in the scene the characters will go unconscious forcing the viewers to track down the progress through the aftermatch Gore explosion - One of the oldest tricks, we've seen this all over supernatural, now it's all over the places in the boys. If anything I do appreciate Erik Kripke style of managing the scenes, it's gotten improved a lot in the boys. which this style might be new to others, it's quite old tricks for the supernatural viewers. I hope they won't stay their own welcome like his previous show.
When Maeve threatens Hughie like split wood it's hilarious but terrifying. She knows he saw Carla obliterated right in front of him. His character would usually keep pushing but he shut right up, shook.
My main problem with the episode is that buther gives the kid away. I think that contradicts Billy’s character. All he cared about was Becca. The kid is the only thing left of her, I just can’t see billy giving him away. I think it’s much more likely that billy would quit the boys just to run away and raise Ryan. That would make so much more sense. But I think billy would do the wrong thing here; that being he raises Ryan while still in the boys, eventually training Ryan to join them. That’s what billy would actually do, he’s not sending the one remnant of Becca away forever, doesn’t make any sense
i think he might have knocked him out (like when homelander throws the kid off the roof) but he'd prolly snap out of it pretty quick. I think Ryans powers are obviously repressed but sitting just under the surface
I feel like this finale wrapped itself up too nicely. One part in particular that bugs me is when Maeve blackmails Homelander with the video of the plane. Homelander’s response seems so out of character. Does Homelander really seem like someone who thinks before he acts? He’s the most powerful person in the world and violence is his go to response when he’s slightly annoyed, how do you think he’d act after being blackmailed? It would have been more in character for him to just melt Maeve and then say she died heroically fighting Stormfront. That video is now effectively his kryptonite for the rest of the show.
I think its because he's uncertain that killing her would fix it. He doesnt really care about her life and would definitely not know how she got the plane footage. The least i can guess is him knowing she is smart and would likely plan a contigency in case she does die. Though this is just speculating and my own opinion so ot can be 100% wrong
@@ZyroShadowPony that’s a good point, but would Homelander have that thought process in the moment? And I still have ill feelings about how it’s gonna effect the rest of the series as like I said it’s now his kryptonite.
Nah, he clearly cares about the public loving him, especially now since Stormfront is all crispy. Plus he's likely aware of the concept of a 'dead mans switch' which is the implication of the video, if he kills Maeve or Billy/Ryan etc the video is on a 'switch' that posts it if it isn't stopped.
Incriminating evidence weighs on Homelander throughout the entire run of the comics & that lasted 100(ish) issues. In a way this sets up Homelander to be who he is in the comics, so I'm not particularly worried.
Butcher is hitting Stormfront frantically for the same reason Ryan accidentally kills Becca. They're both panicking. If you see your wife or your mother in danger you won't think 'go for the weak point' but just hit the danger with everything you've got.
Reigner said it was a coup. Newman is the coup. She's going for political office to help supes off the image she opposes them. So it's either you agree or you disagree with the V, either way it happens because both political sides are the same. Makes sense, I always wondered how Newman has made it out this long when she's so vocally against Vaught.
Pretty sure that Ryan’s eye lasers didn’t kill Becca. Stormfront likely tightened her grip around Beccas neck once she got hit by Ryan’s heat blast. Becca would have been burned like Stormfront if Ryan had hit her.
You know.. homelander maybe be a violent power crazy psycho.. but at least he doesn't seem to torture people .. he's usually very effective and direct when killing people..
I thought they were going to go down the route of Ryan being worse than Homelander and we get a reluctant Homelander, Butcher team up to take him down, up until this episode. I think he'll disappear now as is until they run out of ideas and he is a hail Mary save some season when the boys are out of options. He didn't kill Becca, stormfronts throat hold did.

Also always awesome to get another example to shut down all the whiners that say men don’t like powerful women. Nah we just don’t like shitty writing
Let's be honest, there are plenty of men who don't like strong women. They blend in with you on occasion when there is actual bad writing making you look bad by being obviously misogynist.
49:55 Ryan is not more powerful than Homelander. Idk why y’all fail to grasp the concept that even Supers can have moments of high-stress fight or flight. Lift a car up off the ground like a human performing a superhero feat. Ryan is not all that different from kid Gohan from Dragonball Z. His mother’s life was in immediate danger. And just like Stormfront reverted back to her native German language. Ryan’s primal animal instincts to defend his kin, took over. Ryan performed a desperate measures super move. Like in a video game. Superpowered living weapons in The Boys are just like weapons irl. They don’t change with age. There as lethal when a baby 👶🏼 uses them. The same as when an adult uses them. Have y’all forgotten when Butcher used that baby’s laser eyes against his enemies?
Homelander is Crazy, I hate to see him go all out crazy ,I guess rubbing one out on top of the building saying he could do whatever he wants is a good start...
Soulja boy will be Mother's Milk nemesis in s3, kimiko had personal beef with storm front, frenchie had personal beef with lamplighter. We will find out how MMs dad died
The story was good, did have a problem with the drastically changing power level of heroes. Or just the absurd weakness of some of them. The big ones being Storm Front (in buildings that are exploding eye gets stabbed by a none supe. Also laser eyes don't kill then blow apart? ), Torch Light (a member of the 7 that is less powerful then just any guy with a gun), The Deep (also in the 7, but a pushover. I don't even know if he could win vs Jo Blow in a fistfight anymore). This is a big problem moving forward in the story. If Homelander is going to be the main threat he needs to be that scary unkillable being. Yet every time they change the levels of all other supes in the universe they also make you question where he stands. If the top 6 heroes are pushovers then why is he so scary then? If the top 6 heroes are nuts powerful and also afraid of him, just what kind of being are we dealing with? Making the heroes stronger makes the show more interesting so they need to fix this and always lean on the side of stronger over weaker.
Check out Banshee, Starr was great in that also... I love that these guys admit they nearly cry randomly at scenes....I think toxic masculinity is a huge problem in the world...makes me have hope that we can openly discuss emotion in public...makes me feel better at not being able to rewatch Tony snap...
I think regarding the social commentary question: I think it worked this season because one, it flowed within the story, there was actual plot points around it rather than the show runners just shoving it down your face, and two, they went after pretty much everyone with the commentary, the show runners didn't focus on the right or the left, they called out both sides IMO.
@@ThanatoselNyx So you didn't see the critique of corporations in regards to LGBTQ representation (them just pandering to make money rather than actually caring) you didn't see the scene between Butcher and Edgar about "it all comes down to money" or the fact that the hidden villain of the season is the AOC-parody that seems to be working for Vought, or what about the "Girls Get It Done" slogan along with the "Dawn of the Seven" scenes. There were plenty of examples that I saw that went after the left, were they maybe more subtle, perhaps, but that doesn't mean the show didn't go after the left.
I don’t think that stormfront will get bionic legs or shit like that this show is very much based in reality or as real it it can be and we don’t exactly have crazy good bionic darth Vader legs or anything like that in the real world
S2 was a solid loss for Homelander, I want him to be feeling that through S3 and can see Starr doing that brilliantly. The only thing holding him back is the adoration of the masses and we've seen how easily that can be threatened by a rising star - with Soldier Boy coming into the mix, I can see Homelander building jealousy and resentment towards the newcomer - only this time it will be someone who IS targeting Homelander's core audience and isn't someone who's going to seduce him (as far as I know). I can see him breaking at the end of S3 and doing something horrific in front of the masses - maybe killing Soldier Boy - and his descent will play out in S4 as they deal with the fallout of that act, the masses denying his true nature and making excuses for the hero who's come to embody all that is American. "Vaught can take a shit in 5th avenue and they'll throw a ticker tape parade." - I genuinely think Homelander will have his defenders after he commits whatever evil act goes public. He will have his immediate detractors, like he did in S2 with the protestors, but I can see S4 playing out as damage control leading into Homelander's fall as Vaught and Edgar scramble to save face while the Boys and the CIA try to make the dirt stick. Eventually the Boys succeed, Edgar pushes Homelander too far, or Homelander simply grows tired of it all, and he goes full evil. I think the plane footage will be released but I don't think Maeve will be the one to release it. And then S5 (if it is a 5 season series) will be the fight to bring down the authoritarian dictator Homelander.
I didn't like the idea of them killing all of the superheroes. Why didn't they do that already? They weren't fighting clean then anyways. What changed?

We don't know if she's with Vought, which is interesting. Maybe Vought, like The Collective, has a hold over her which is why she seems to do stuff that benefits them.
i also love that karl urban is the only real famous actor which makes it a lot easier to feel immersed in the show as you dont relate these charecters to the actors
Exept for Giancarlo Esposito, who just plays Gus Fring again
Wow I can’t believe he really thinks she’s dead! Stormfront is so coming back! Great setup with Starlight’s old regrowth buddy. I think* Stormfront still has her left hand. I never saw a stump with tricky camera blocking. Victoria is definitely giving Hughie V next season!
What about the fact that Homelander used his laser vision in Stormfront and it did nothing, but Ryan’s takes her fucking out. I know homelander may not have been going full force, but it sure looked like Stormfront wanted him to. I think Ryan is going to be very powerful.
Did anyone else think storm fronts Cape should have had bullet holes. Is it bulletproof as well?
that always bugs me in movies, BUT most heroes would have scenes were they are stripped naked after getting thrown through a building, soooo
PLENTY of story left!
Wasn't season 3 confirmed the same time as season 2
@@iamepic6726 was it? That'd be pretty odd to me given how they decided to end this one, but maybe it's just my viewing party's perspective, I've been surprised to not see anyone else I watch mention this honestly.
@@KatieLHall-fy1hw definitely, it's my favorite show right now, but confused why they went the route they did, they made some weird choices (like throwing in the jerk-off scene at the end even though that was a scene made for season 1 and I don't think it really fit here all that well).
Yes teddy .. your absolutely right .. I believe if this was on Netflix it would be pop culturally bigger
I don’t think Ryan directly killed his mom, he hit stormfront with the blast and she ripped her throat out on impact. Not a lot he could have done, he’ll be fine!
I guess for the “How are they able to walk around in public” just think to yourself; right now how many people you can name on the FBI top-10 most wanted list?
And how many of the top-10 are some of the most famous people in the world, like starlight?!
Yeah but in this universe people are obsessed with Vaught. You see Vaught on pretty much every TV in the show. Our current society isn't really obsessed like that but the things that DO circulate in the media we do know about. At least the majority of the population does. Think about like any mass shooting. Everyone knows the shooter and you see their face on the news for weeks.
i love coming back to this video now that season 3 has aired, and seeing how many predictions these guys got right
has youtube been hiding you guys wtf youve not been on my subscription list in AGES like months
Damn this is good soup
I thought Butcher was gonna bump HL's shoulder on the walk by!!!
wouldve been DIABOLICAL
I think the public outing of homelander will be when he kills the president, who I'm guessing will be Newman by end of season 4. The public won't know she is a supe and will turn on homelander, causing him to loose it. And taking power of the white house and will be killed eventually probably end of season 5 by the boys and black noir, as a nod to the comics. With the boys then killing noir and closing down vaught, by forcing a defense less Edgar into a corner
So cool you guess actually responded to my question!
Neuman is an AOC that literally makes people's heads explode. That's a hilarious gag.
Yeah there was nothing she could do about that situation
One thing I like also about this show is that it's basically about a death squad and also deconstructing some of the movies that pretty up death squads by labelling them as something else. It shows how marginal, squeezed, desperate, and disavowed these guys are. Disavowal also means their handlers half the time are ready to cut them off or betray them.
I swear when Maze said "Then nobody will ever cheer your name ever again" I thought for sure Homelander was going to say " Then they will just have to Scream it!" And it was going to be Maze vs Homelander where he would kill her and become the final heel turn to dictator 😲
Her name is Maeve :P
The boys and supernatural have a lot of technical stuffs in common. I mean old tricks in the book from supernatural has been repacked in the boys.
Backstabbing - When the antagonists are focusing on other characters, some miracle knife [or in this case, Almond joint and Maeve sucker punch] will show up out of nowhere from their back.
Big fight avoidance - if the big fight that can destroy a lot of the surroundings is gonna happen, it's not gonna happen. there'll be something or someone show up to prevent that from happen.
Unconsciousness for budget saving - every time if the CG might be involved in the scene the characters will go unconscious forcing the viewers to track down the progress through the aftermatch
Gore explosion - One of the oldest tricks, we've seen this all over supernatural, now it's all over the places in the boys.
If anything I do appreciate Erik Kripke style of managing the scenes, it's gotten improved a lot in the boys. which this style might be new to others, it's quite old tricks for the supernatural viewers. I hope they won't stay their own welcome like his previous show.
I’ve been looking forward to this. 🌟
When Maeve threatens Hughie like split wood it's hilarious but terrifying. She knows he saw Carla obliterated right in front of him. His character would usually keep pushing but he shut right up, shook.
I have a feeling that the church is going to frame The Deep for Adonis’s death in season 3
Ryan is still a supe and a reminder of Homelander and Butcher knows he'd be a shit father like his own father.
Don't agree with that opinion on Maeve and the plane. What was she gonna do? Stay and just die. How would that help anyone?
She also begged Homelander to help several times and was clearly deeply disturbed about the situation. :(.
Yea Maeve was not at all complicit or the villain in that situation
S3 The Deep should get a job at Sea World and we should get side plots of him like learning to be a good person and stuff lmaoo
the deep specifically says he cant go anywhere near aquariums, pet shops, and zoos because all the water critters BEG and scream to be set free.
Hopefully I hear you guys say "girls get it done"
My question is: if Butcher tried to smash Ryan, would he be able to? Or is Ryan already too powerful?
i think he might have knocked him out (like when homelander throws the kid off the roof) but he'd prolly snap out of it pretty quick.
@@rundownthriftstore it might get solved later on. We just have to wait a bit
Toni Star would make a great reverse flash
Butcher is hitting Stormfront frantically for the same reason Ryan accidentally kills Becca. They're both panicking. If you see your wife or your mother in danger you won't think 'go for the weak point' but just hit the danger with everything you've got.
The way they handle A trains power is so cool. How he got in the car lol, hiding before they started talking
Nerd Soup likes your Twitter replies, very epic of them 🤜🏻🤛🏾
I've been waiting for this! That was a great finale!
Just in time for my lunch break
Lol mine too
Girls get it on
Reigner said it was a coup. Newman is the coup. She's going for political office to help supes off the image she opposes them. So it's either you agree or you disagree with the V, either way it happens because both political sides are the same.
Makes sense, I always wondered how Newman has made it out this long when she's so vocally against Vaught.
Thought she was working for vought in secret
Homelander is America personified.
Pretty sure that Ryan’s eye lasers didn’t kill Becca. Stormfront likely tightened her grip around Beccas neck once she got hit by Ryan’s heat blast. Becca would have been burned like Stormfront if Ryan had hit her.
Antony starrs non verbal communication is top notch great actor
You know.. homelander maybe be a violent power crazy psycho.. but at least he doesn't seem to torture people .. he's usually very effective and direct when killing people..
Been waiting on this bowl boys
I think the guys missed the ending Psycho reference with Homelander’s eyes ending the press conference.
I fricking knew Neuman was up to no good. I knew man!
The creator of the show confirmed Stormfront is not dead
Girls get it done was part of all the promo material when storefront joined remember. Additionally, I love this episode and got so hyped when the girls got it done.
Dude if Victoria didn’t kill homelander or storm front, she either doesn’t care or couldn’t or because she works for vought.
Mother's milk gets mad after he accidentally orders a soulja boy game console instead of a ps5?
Neuman is like Palpatine, playing both sides for Vought. She makes a conflict against Vought FOR Vought.
Home lander isn’t the bad guy. He’ll probably join the boys vs another big bad
Thandie Newton should had trademarked Maeve's name. No other woman seems to deserve it.
Mallory is rly good. Reminded me of Tissaia on Witcher and old lady Tyrrell in GoT
Am I the only who thought when Butcher picked up the crowbar, he was looking at Stormfront?
for a brief second, i thought he was gonna bury it in her empty eye socket
I felt it was way too heavy handed and lacked any sort of subtly. It was very distracting.
i mean nazis are pretty right wing so
They were very much against the right wing. Not so much against the left.
@@ThanatoselNyx i know what you’re getting at but i mean in accordance with today’s politics it’s almost exclusively a right wing ideology
Love the Boys but do you guys watch Amazon's best show The Expanse?
@50:55 good pull ted the showrunner is the same as supernatural
I don’t think that stormfront will get bionic legs or shit like that this show is very much based in reality or as real it it can be and we don’t exactly have crazy good bionic darth Vader legs or anything like that in the real world
even with the electric powers? I feel your point for sure, but who knows what Stormfronts "5 guys with laptops" team really is? just spit ballin :)
Dude... Spoilers.
You can't just drop print media revelations here
