You were due an easy one. Thanks again Alex for anther great video. I love the way you detail the equipment after you fix them you even shine up the tires! A good job done well.
I have a 5424 zr. identical with a 24 hp Kohler. Great machine. I paid $1200.00 with 181 hours on the mower and less on the engine. Former owner ran it out of oil. Best mower that I've ever owned.
I would order up a couple of spindle tops for the top pullys. Doesn't have to be for this mower, but the larger the better, except then ya'll canna pull up on a steep ramp onto a trailer.
Alex i think a zero turn as nice as that is would easily bring $1500 in today's inflated market. That is less than half of a new one and the hours are not that high. Fully serviced and ready to go, i would think some landscaper would pay that with the Kawasaki engine as a selling point as well! Goodluck Alex. ✌🇺🇸
Thank you Roger. I think I will probably start at $1600 on the market and not take less than 1300 fully serviced. I hope you are doing well and always appreciate your support 😎🇺🇸
I wouldn’t have known where to start with this machine other than the basics. It starts, runs, turns and cuts well so you have aced it with patience and skill. Anything you get in selling it will be well earned. Thanks for posting a great video!
I got the Topdon BT100 battery load tester and have never looked back. Small, easy to use, fast and does everything I would want it to do at a reasonable price when I bought it a couple years ago. The printed instructions aren't all that great, so I pretty much figured it out by doing, and it's not that difficult, even for me (who had never used a battery load tester before). I highly recommend this one. By the way, I found out about it on Jeremy's MowerMedic1 channel.
Great Video. Thankful I found your channel. You do Awesome work. I liked how you mentioned how much you were plan on selling for. I always wonder how much you would try to sell your mowers for when you finished. Great Job.
Thank you very much for the support. I was very surprised how little it took to get this back in good working order. I think it should sell quickly this spring.
Thank you Kyle. In the future I want to show a little more detail on some things like you have been doing in your videos, but I was really happy with the results on this one. Thanks for stopping by and showing support.
I could really use that mower because mine is just old and falling apart. I not only mow my small yard but my neighbors yards as well. And to bad you are so far away. Man I could do a lot of good with that machine.
How do you find these deals man?! I'm trying to find a fixer-upper and I can't find one for less than $500 near me. Teach us how you sourced so many machines!
Could you have just done the bypass with the battery instead of the jumper pack? Was that a solid wire (as opposed to stranded) that you used to backprobe the starter solenoid connector to start the machine? Why did the brake safety switch fall out (besides the jolt the deck took) - was the locking tab worn or some other reason? Could you modify it to prevent that from happening again?
love the vids! quick question, recently painted the back wheels on my mower and i put them back on and now when i spin one back wheel the other spins the opposite way. what did i do wrong?
I’m surprised that there are no safety guards for the outside pulleys on the mower deck. These pulleys being exposed, could causing harm or even death.if some imbecile would place their foot or hand on them when the deck is rotating the blades. My Husqvarna Riding Lawnmower has safety guards covering the outside pulleys. Personally I wouldn’t mow my lawn if the safety guards broke off. What I really like about my YTH2146 riding lawnmower. To remove the deck is simply held in place by 5 of the Husqvarna special clips. Rebuilding the deck spindles are very easy. Using a bearing puller to pull the bearings off each spindle. The idler gear bearing, I drilled out the spot welds on my drill press. With a 5/16” drill. So I could split the pulley in half. I Used tungsten carbide burr to widen the drilled hole out just enough so the 5/16 grade 8 cap head Allen bolts would fit through the holes . Then I Replaced the old worn out bearing. The length of the cap head grade 8 3/16” is 3/4”with nylock nuts and lock washers. The bearing that engages the blades. I did the same thing as I did with the idler pulley. I also replaced the upper and lower bearings on the deck spindles. I froze the spindles for ease of installation of the bearings on the spindle shafts. I used a steel pipe to easily drive the bearings on the spindle shafts. The inside diameter of the pipe only applied pressure to the inner bearing races .What sucks is the transmission pulleys are molded plastic that can’t have the bearings removed without destroying the plastic pulley. So I went to my local small engine repair shop. I’ve purchased a lot of parts from this small engine repair shop. The owner gave the same sized used steel pulleys. I drilled out the spot welds . So I could split the steel pulleys in half to gain access to the bearings. Using grade 8 Allen head cap screws, nylox nuts and lock washers and new sealed bearings. It cost me under $15.00 and my time. To replace all the mower deck bearings and the hydrostatic transmission pulley bearings. I’m not a professional mechanic but I’m very capable of doing most work on my Husqvarna YTH21K46 riding lawnmower. Another annoying thing is the OEM valve cover gasket is simply garbage. I torqued the valve cover and gasket to specify torque. The brand new valve cover gasket failed and the valve cover leaked oil so much m. Right on top of the muffler. Producing a real lot of smoke. That anyone that saw me mowing my lawn. Had to think the engine was smoking because it was worn out piston rings.I ordered another valve cover cork gasket. The cork was even thinner than the first valve cover gasket that failed instantly. I also tried the high temperature silicone. Followed the directions exactly as described. This remedy also failed. I have a box of 12”x12” by 3/16 thick cork pieces. I used the new unused thin cork gasket and drew the shape and holes. used a hole punch to punch out where the holes are in the exact positions and a utility knife with a new blade. To cut out the rest of the value cover gasket. No more oil leaks.another thing that irked me was the C-Clips that prevent the front wheels from falling off. Have failed 3 times in 10 years. Because the thickness of the C-Clips wore out the broke in half. I drilled 7/32” holes in the front axles. So I could use 5/16” split/cotter pins in place of the C-Clips. There are precision flat spacer washers that go on the axle after the wheel hub is placed on the front axle. The 5/16” no split/cotter pins show. No wear after at least year. And keep the front wheels from falling off. I keep the front axles well greased and any other grease fittings. There is another thing that was annoying as possible. The carburetor float was made from plastic and couldn’t be adjusted. So the float was level with the carburetor when upside down. The gas shut off solenoid failed after 2 years. I had to install an inline fuel shutoff.that would prevent gasoline leaking into the engine . I finally figured out the brass bowl I needed to eliminate the gas from leaking into the engine. I could adjust a carburetor brass float so no gasoline would leak into the engine.solving that problem. A new OEM gas shut off Solenoid cost is around $100.00. I did try one of the Chinese low quality Solenoid gas shutoff. That actually didn’t allow gasoline to pass by it. It lasted 2 months before the solenoid failed. The brass carburetor float. I was given a brass carburetor float. The bolt and the gasket that holds the carburetor float bowl to the carburetor. From one of my good friends that has a few milk crates full of small engine carburetors. I couldn’t find a brass carburetor float online that would fit my carburetor. The OEM gas shutoff solenoid. Had a rubber stopper would press against the main jet on the bottom of the carburetor. When the ignition was off. All this was designed for was a fuel shutoff. And prevents the engine from backfiring when turning off the ignition. I always allow my riding lawnmower to run at low ROMs without a load for at least 5 minutes after cutting my lawn. To give the engine time to cool down before turning off the ignition. Your small internal combustion engine will last many years if you do this. I even tried to heat the plastic carburetor float. Using a shrink wrap hot air gun. To try to bend where the tab on the Float is located. So the carburetor float would be level with the base of the carburetor that is level . I very careful when I did this. This didn’t work because I ended up melting a tiny hole in the plastic carburetor float. Why so many parts on USA manufactured have become so low quality is beyond me. At least USA manufactured items are a lot better quality than the items being manufactured in CHINA. I avoid when possible purchasing anything that is manufactured in China. It’s not easy and can be a lot more expensive to purchase a USA product. But I’m very patriotic totally support USA manufactured Products. Except for USA manufactured automobiles. Why the USA manufactures quality trucks but can’t manufacture quality automobiles is another thing beyond belief. The USA does manufacture some a few quality SUVs that are based on a truck frame and drive train. I didn’t want to purchase a Japanese Automobile. But my Nissan Sentra is assembled in the USA. So I have purchased 3 Nissan Sentra’s over the years. Each Sentra got well over 200K. I did maintain the Sentra’s mostly by myself. The only thing I really had a Nissan Dealer do was transmission flushes. The last USA manufactured automobile started having major problems after 75,000 miles. All the electronics started failing. The stater, alternator and water pump failed. The front brake calipers had to be replaced because they started leaking brake fluid. The master brake cylinder started leaking and had to be replaced. The switches on the electric windows started failing one by one the electric side view mirror switch failed the electric door locks began to fail one by one on each door.failed. The trunk seal failed and I would have a few inches of rain water in the trunk. That Fortunately I’ve a lot of high quality hand tools and air tools so I could make the repairs myself. I’m talking thousands of dollars to bring the USA manufactured Automobile to a dealer or try to find a mechanic that knows what they are doing. I will admit the drive train decent.
What is a brand you recommend for zero turns? I’ve been debating between JD, bad boy and toro. I’ll be using it to cut 1-5 acres regularly. Thank you in advance!
@@davidgarza7134 thank you very much for the support. I would try and purchase from a dealer and not a box store. They are much more helpful when it comes to warranty and repairs.
I agree. I don’t usually like having them like that and I want to see if I can find a set. The only upside to having the guards off is that the grass won’t collect in there, but yes it’s a hazard.
I can't get over how good this engine sounds.

Those Kawasaki's are a great engine!

$200 - what an amazing deal! I’m seeing beat up ZT’s in my area asking $300-500. I haven’t worked on one yet but that’s my next step up.
That one is a winner for sure. Someone is going to have a good machine.
That has to be one of the smoothest and easiest Twin I've ever seen start. That is awesome
Right!! I can’t believe it was such a smooth runner.

Lucky you, very lucky find and friend, it’s a keeper for sure 😊😊
Thank you. I’ve got a couple zero turns here and it’s going to be hard to let this one go. It cleaned up nicely.
I actually learned some things. Excellent. The original oil level looked too low to even try running it, but the engine sounded good.
Great job Alex btw u got other utubers following your channel Chris from OHIO gooooooo Buckeyes beat Michigan
