    Having rebuilt a Datsun engine myself, and just about ready to do a second, I enjoyed Michael's videos very much. I did notice however that Michael speaks the American automotive language. What in Australia is called a gearbox is to him a transmission, what I know as a "bush" is to him a "bushing" etc etc. Anyway he did a great job with only rudimentary tools and a backyard.

    I just finished pulling out my engine off my 72 Datsun 510 and I cleaned it, restored it, with an aluminum flywheel, race radiator, dual race carburetors, and racing headers, and what you said was so true the longest process was cleaning and for me in my case cleaning and reprinting it

    This engine design was licensed from Austin , then improved to eliminate shared ports to improve performance. The Austin A series engine was produced for DECADES. My 77 B210 5-manual hatch had one.

    I’ve got a question with the timing cover did you have to remove the water pump studs or did you just pry off the cover after all the 10mm bolts were loose? Thanks

  • @EH-mh4it
    @EH-mh4it 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Production value is great! I noticed that you put up a bit of text naming the parts as you were removing them and have to say that the extra bit of information is really useful, and makes it more educational as well as entertaining. In the past videos I have watched so far I wish you would have put a bit of text saying what you were actually doing (if not mentioned verbally) or what product you were using. For example when you were lubing the leaf springs with graphite power, not everyone would have known what or why you were doing it but some small text which said, “lubricating with graphite powder” would have explained a lot, without the need for voice over. It’s fun to watch you do a lot of your work, but so much more valuable with just a little bit of extra info in the form of some small text. (I realise you aren’t trying to make an instructional video)
    It’s really impressive what you are achieving while living in a unit. Your diy abilities and low budget approach is very relatable.

    Hi there, Joey here from Brunei, admired with your work in the disassembling the engine. :) But i just want to know in detail the bolts in removing the engine head, which of those having the long ones and short ones. This is because I'm having such a hard time due to the sequence in removing bolt 5-6-7 due to having a crack and i'm completely lost by not marking them in numbers and with the bolts that i've been taking out (8-9-10 sequence). I will appreciate your help and assist on this, thank you very much.

    • @32Builds
      @32Builds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey mate, thanks so much! Hope all is going good with your build. I think there's only one long head bolt which goes in the middle on the spark plug side. I could be wrong though :D

    • @32Builds

      I'm not sure the specifics but its such a simple motor and the A-series should be pretty similar!

    • @SunSweepingServices
      @SunSweepingServices 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@32Builds thanks for the response. I actually have this engine on the back of a street sweeping truck. I was looking for the carburetor and found that the A15 and the B210 seem to have the same carburetor. There’s one that is a single carb and then there is another that is a duel carb.

    That's some pretty good production value (music, graphics, editing) you have there for a young channel. Keep up the good work and careful with the camera lighting exposures. btw That water pump condition looks pretty standard for an old A12 too :)

    • @32Builds
      @32Builds  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ooh hi Alan! :) Thanks for the feedback. I'm still getting used to filming in the harsh sunlight xD. I was actually shocked at the condition of the water pump and coolant jackets, but I'm learning its quite the norm for older trucks and vehicles.

    Aloha. My situation is the engine. This is my first build on a 1981 720 with a Z24 and I had all the nuts and bolts labeled and numbered in the order I took them off. My son went to clean up the garage a little and hit the table with his body and a bunch of the bolts on the ground. He was too scared to tell me and kinda lied about it and I'm at a stand still. I do have a build book but still am at a lost as to where everything goes. I'm very disappointed that he lied to me. I'm not mad at all and love the challenge. Again at a stand still. This was my first truck and want to rebuild the motor for my son as a graduation present. Any advice for me?

    • @32Builds
      @32Builds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! The important bolts, for the head and flywheel are pretty easy to tell. I would try grouping them as best as you can by thread size and type. Then its a matter of counting the bolt holes in the block haha. Only way is to tackle the little problems one by one!
