Gary Law grew up watching his dad build and race cars, with a particular love for Datsuns. When his father passed, it left a void which he felt an urge to fill, and he came up with this, his custom build affectionately known as the Chilli Mouse.
His fabrication and customs business involves building and modifying some exceptional cars, including real halo cars like the Nissan R34 GT-R Skyline. But Gary wanted something a bit more close to home, and he set about building his dream Datsun 1200.
This is definitely one of the cleanest builds we've come across, with incredible attention to detail, and some of the widest tyres we've ever seen on a little bakkie!

I dream of doing this... take something so simple and specific to the SA market, like the VeloCiti or Tazz and do a complete resto-mod. This is an Awesome Build
Sick little bakkie... I love that it's a hommage to the Datsun 1200/120y bakkies that came before it.
This is by very far the best Datsun B110 bakkie I have ever come across. It rocks in every aspect,performance,cosmetics,body, et al. Awesome! Listening to Gerry talk about the project has been pure bliss.

There is no car in the world better than a Datsun i drove my 1972 Datsun 1200 deluxe 8 years with out problems its my first car and still i am driving it

Real nice machine.i had a datsun 720 pick up single cab with a Z24 engine with weber side draft carbs,was loud and fun to drive

Looks like a really fun car, I love the bike carbs, front brakes and the gearbox choice, but I don't understand why you'd run that much tyre (surely increases understeer?) and also not address the quite severe squat under acceleration. Seems like the rear needs to be raised (or the front lowered) and stiffened a bit?

That's the sickest fuking thing I've seen in a bit.
Love it because I rocked a 76datsun B210 with a bored and stroke engine mated with a four speed it was awesome.
400dollars and all I had to do was put in the engine and transmission add gas and blast.
My friends called it the rice rocket..
If I could get that car back the things I could do to it now..

My dream project is sample take a 6 speed gearbox from the polo tsi and fit into a polo Vivo Frist generation CLS engine that is it. I'm sure no one as done that
