I think kestrels are anti-psychotic... in the ethereal confusion of tumultuous flow they can achieve a stable position. I think that the love of that, the adoration thereof, is the love of reference.
I wish that I was you last Autumn, as there were 4 Kestrels lined up in a row 80 yards apart hovering on the slopes of the Marl Mound at Croft Quarry. Croft Quarry (Biggest In Europe I Believe) is a great spot for filming Perigrins and Ravens, with a dramatic back drop.
It is astounding how still they can keep their head... fantastic footage as always!
