Lion Surprised Wildlife Photographers When He was Taking Pictures of a Pride

  • Wildlife photographers without a doubt have one of the coolest jobs in the world. Every professional wildlife photographer will tell you that the secret to capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments is patience and being at the right place at the right time. However, sometimes there's just no secret as the animals once in a while tend to do the unexpected and end up surprising the photographer. Some photographers were lucky enough to encounter their dearest animal friends from up close. Perhaps a little too close on occasion.

Some people's natural reaction would be to run as quickly as possible. I was one of the fastest runners in our high school but still couldn't outrun my 1-year-old wiener dog! You need to plan ahead if you're going to be in the wild and may be forced into outrunning predators, by taking along two or three friends that you know can't run as fast as you can. 😁

The lions were going to set off for the night but they decided they didn’t have anyone to watch the cubs so they dropped off the cubs next to their tents. So the photographers said “ I guess we are not going along on the hunting tonight because we have been chosen as the babysitters!” It was too funny. What a moment that must of been howling with the wolves!
I came across a bear once in the wild, and it was really unnerving and surreal. I made the mistake, and was too quiet, and accidentally snook up on him. By the time I heard him grunt, he had already stood up on his legs, and was just staring at me! I backed away, keeping eye contact, and thankfully, he didn't see me as a threat, or I may of been lunch! This happened nearly 30 years ago, and it's still very fresh in my mind!
Much respect to these photographers, that only arm themselves with bravery, and a camera!

Certain people draw animals to them. I can walk through any neighborhood, all of the lost, not lost, & stray cats come to me (even when I’m alone and not walking with my cat). Also, people see me walking with my cats and are shocked, they say they’ve never seen someone walking their cat. I did not “make” them or “train” them to walk with me, without running away, it just happens because I walk WITH them, they usually lead, but being that I spend time with them, over time, cats learn to do what I want them to do, too. I’ve done this all of my life with many cats. My cat Fluffy recently passed away, she was 22 years old, and was like our CHILD. She’d been our baby (and grandmother, & friend) for much longer than human children are with their parents.

Several years ago there was an American photographer who had set up his camera in the jungle and took some photos of a monkey. The little monkey came up to the camera and really hammed it up. He got a fabulous photo of it and it was published. PETA jumped onto it and sued him for taking the photo and making money off the monkey without the monkey's permission, saying it infringed on the monkey's rights. Yes, it went to the Supreme Court and the photographer settled the case by agreeing to donate a large portion of the royalties he earned off of that photo, to wildlife preservation. I am a huge animal lover; I prefer them over humans, but that was going too far, especially when a wildlife photographer takes those photos to show people how beautiful wildlife is and increase awareness on protection.

    • @eolsunder
      @eolsunder ปีที่แล้ว +1

that is the fault of the court justice system not Peta. plenty of morons sue others for dumb things, and smart people in the justice system should make sure it doesn't happen. Sadly humans are dumb, and even justices and judges are often dumb. Just a failure with the justice system, not him, or Peta.

@@eolsunder This reminds me of copyright cases that come before a judge, the most notorious and egregious case was George Harrison being sued over his song “My Sweet Lord”. Harrison lost the rights to his biggest individual hit song because the judge in his case ruled that “My Sweet Lord” had plagiarised “He’s So Fine”, a Ronnie Mack composed song recorded by The Chiffons.
The judge clearly didn’t have a clue about pop music, despite being an alleged “writer of operas” and classical musician….probably the worst person to preside over the case!
A judge with common sense would’ve been better than that guy!

Fortunately, men's understanding of life has changed over time. Instead of hunting wild animals demonstrating our bravery, strength, power and how selfish we are, we now prefer to capture their essences, their souls, to demonstrate to the world how important these beings are to us as well as the place where they live. Of course, many of these animals remain dangerous, but it took the courage of a few men and women with the simple idea that all life can be beautiful and is sacred to bring us these truths into the comfort of our homes. It makes us richer and wiser. All creation was good to the Creator. We just needed to see better and understand that too. Thank you very much for the wonderful video :)

      People confuse sentience and sapience.
Sentience is merely to be aware of yourself and be capable of exploring and engaging with your environment.
Sapience is this to a vastly greater degree as the species becomes much better at extracting use and meaning from the world around them.
Most large species are sentient, and will remember individuals from other species and how you behave. Some will try to use basic tools even, beyond that of their own body.
Only a handful really use tools in an advanced way.
As far as sapience goes, octopus are an obvious contender, with runner-up's being other apes and some birds. It's harder to say for intelligence with some species as they are less able to manipulate objects or have greater communication boundaries.
Of course, our interpretation of other species behavior is heavily dependent on how sociable that species is and how many methods of communication we can perceive to interpret.

Some wild wolves in the United States, were actually raised by humans when they were pups, and then released back into the wild to re-populate areas where they had been driven to extinction. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was one of those packs, and they were less wary of humans as a result.
