    I'm trying to figure out what's going on with my 89 gt and this is a great idea i have overlooked, just assuming since ive modified the car somewhat, and added a performance chip as well, that codes might be inaccurate. That cylinder test could help diagnose an ignition issue, as im not incredibly mechanical in nature. The car is acting up when it heats up, just replaced multiple distributors, plugs and coil with the same issue happening at normal run temp, it's not overheating but will cut off with no start sometimes until it cools. So now i want to check codes b4 throwing wires or unnecessary other parts at it. This should be helpful. Also, if anyone reading has suggestions or cured the same issue, please share. Thanks again

    Hey, do you have any information on that 160mph Motorsport speedometer you have? I purchased one too but can’t find any history on the speedometer. I know/think the 160mph certified calibration are CHP but the Motorsport…. Idk.

      They were an offering in the Ford Motorsport catalog. There was a 140 and 160 Motorsport speedo. Basically they are the same as the Certified units except for the logo on the face and they only have standard calibration not the certified.

    how about forscan program with obdlink mx+ I'm using that on ford falcon 1999, it might be eec-v though, worth a shot

      ForScan won't work on EEC-IV cars. They are just too old and predate the OBD2 port that debuted with EEC-V. I've used ForScan though. Great Program.

      @@Mustang5L5 just wondering if you got my post on your pwm fan video ?
      I did a lengthy post about a week ago there but it seems to have disappeared into the ether.

      @name not shown I’m not seeing that comment on that video. Let me check when I can get on a PC to see if TH-cam held it up for moderation or something, but I don’t see it.
      Edit: searched a bit through the TH-cam desktop app. I don’t see your comment anywhere. Send me an email if you want. It’s on my page details.

    does it give you get a code if the TFI Module has failed?

    • @Mustang5L5
      @Mustang5L5  ปีที่แล้ว

      Not directly. There's a few ignition related codes but they are vague and don't necessarily point to a specific part. The fox OBD1 setup is pretty primitive and one of the areas is lacks is helping troubleshoot failed TFI/PIP and coil issues.

      @@Mustang5L5 dam I sent my A9L in for repair, got it back reinstalled it and my car still won't fire just turn over, do you think I will get any codes with Innova 3145 if I bought one? the battery was disconnected for a month. not sure why it would not start I was moving it over in the garage for 2 cars and I stalled it while reversing and could not start it, it would only turn over? what could have happened the fuel pump still makes a sound with key on too.
