DJI will get me about as far as I want to go these days. If I feel the need to go any further I still have an old TBS 2.4ghz ground station on a tripod with either a pepperbox, crosshair, or a yagi antenna laying around for that. Those old TBS tuned lawmates and some IBcrazy antennas with a 5.8 relay was a pretty solid setup back in the day. It’s been cool to be around for a while and see the progression over time. When Crossfire was first released I was blown away at the range they were getting on that 915mhz Lora. I bought one right at release because of that and all of the features they had planned for it. I’d say they delivered on that front for sure. I still have the original full size tx module and diversity receiver on a 680 Storm Antigravity build with a Naza V2 and 15” props. Now you got me wanting to dig out the old TBS discovery frame and build it again with something more modern like iNav 😂

Awesome video! Personally, I refuse to fly analog for a very simple reason. What I enjoy about fpv is being there, actually having a proper pov of my aircraft. And this is just not possible with analog, I would always feel like I'm just watching a poor quality transmission instead of being able to see what my aircraft sees. But to each their own!

Hi Justin, Great video and information about what is the best way to fly long-range. I just built my 7in lr quad with 2808 1100kv TOKA motors. I have to build a ground station, I just can't turn to keep the quad to get the best signal. Looking forward to seeing any information about ground station. Thanks again for the video and information about long-range

Some crazy people that want to go super long range like 10 km going to 100 kms do it for the kicks. At these distances, digital is easily out of the question. These are with fpv fixed wings. For quadcopters, if you aim for around 10kms out, you can certainly afford carrying a gopro easily. 😅

I want to get one of these bigger quads for “sporty” type flying just for enjoyment really (no go pro). Cruising up high, then diving, as well as some low basic maneuvers over and around trees. Split S, loops and low fast flying. All within 2 miles large open areas some hills. They both look amazing.

I want to fpv a big rc cargo plane (e flite ec1500) and I just need around 5 miles of range but I want a really good quality camera and very stable signal even though I’m in a fairly busy suburban area. Battery life isn’t a problem as it’s huge and I can fit a 16000 man battery or 2 8/10 thousand mah batteries. What do you recommend? Take into account there are quite a few tall buildings surrounding me. Is it possible? I’ve always dreamt of fpv-ing that plane and I’ve finally found somebody who clearly explains fpv since I am a complete beginner to fpv. What fpv setup do I need? Thanks a lot mate

3:50 Justin I think the reason you can go farther the higher you stand or fly is because the higher the altitude the less dense the air gets so the transmission gets attenuated less by the thinner air. What do you think?

  • @flat-earther

3:50 for me flat earth isn't merely a belief because there are empirical evidence to back it up, unlike the theoretical globe model that defies laws of physics; for example the second law of thermodynamics, because the globe model claims a vacuum of space and a pressurized earth atmosphere without a barrier in between which is impossible.
