As a father of a young child myself you handled that very well. I know all too well how frustrating it can be to entertain a child while working and this was both entertaining to watch and informative! I have both DJI and Walksnail and I am in the process of phasing out DJI. Walksnail is just so much more community driven and I don't feel like replacing all of my cameras every time DJI decides to make them obsolete.

Learning about FPV because every time we go to the store and see a quad copter my boys ask if it has a camera and they have a weird fascination with having something where you can see through FPV. We are going to figure it out together. Great job including your girl in the video.

I generally disagree with your categorization of the DJI system. I can't speak to the signal "stomping", but I definitely don't have bucket loads of money, and purchased the O3 air unit and the V2 Goggles for less than I could purchase the Walksnail Avatar combo. I guess you may be referring to the Goggles 2, but even the Integra (their latest Goggle) is the same price as Walksnail's latest Goggle. I do agree though, that Walksnail seems much more concerned about what's best for the community, and DJI seems more concerned with what's best for them. That said, they did actually release firmware to make the new O3 air unit compatible with their older V2 Goggle, so they're not ALL bad.

I got HDZero because I tend to race more than freestyle, plus the analog compatibility. The video smoothness with the 90hz cam is quite an experience. But Walksnail is doing very well lately becoming the perfect middle ground btw dji & hd0. OTOH OpenIPC in its developement phase is already very promising and insultingly cheap (like 70$ including the VRX).
I've been out of keeping up to date with all of the TH-cam channels for the past two years. I remember congratulating you and giving Dad advice on one of your videos way back when. Love to see you're bringing in the fam on the channel. My kiddo was 4 when you had your little one. Now my kiddo is 7, and has just started to fly in the sims and will be flying his first whoop this weekend. (he had proved himself on the sim, he liked to be silly at first and just smash into walls, then I turned off god mode and put on a timer every time he crashed, he would have to wait before he could fly again). It just keeps getting more fun as time goes on.

Same, I don't race, but I like that the software is open, the latency is low, and the picture is good enough to fly. If I want pretty pictures I'll put an action cam on the quad.

ELRS receiver is $10 and GPS is $15. 4 inch frame was $13. I could have gotten a $10 Caddx Ant camera but I splurged for the best: Caddx Ratel 2 for $23. Finally $17 AKK 600 mW VTX, $7 rush cherry antenna and a $5 buzzer. That`s $167 for a 4" long range quad.
You have a very solid opinion. This is recommended to everyone who has to make a choice. One thing I would add is that the HD zero google gives just as good of a display as DJI does and gives great compatibility with others like Walksnail and Analog. The google I would argue is even the best Analog option out there ... only downside is the availability in the EU at least but with Foxxer bringing out their own version of the HDzero race V3 i can see that change. Hdzero really tries to be just as flexible as analog is.
Hey Stew and daughter, I like the Walksnail system myself. I probably would get a module that way i can still use my SKYZONE 03O googles. DJI has over price their system. HDZERO is a very good system, but I still think that Walksnail would be the best way for me. Thanks for the video and information about what would be the best HD system for you.
DJI is the cheapest digital FPV system! Because it's so popular, about 50% compared to 9% for Walksnail and 8% for HDZero, it's available like new (used) where you can't tell it from a brand new goggle! I've seen my V2 goggles for under $300 and they do analog FANTASTIC! VTX's are cheap too. You don't have to buy the 03 and have performance that's far about the rest! Vista/Link already performs better than anything the other two have! Seriously! 💯🏆👍
I've been flying DJI for a couple years (still V2's) and happy with it. What will ultimately send me to Walksnail is the VTX's for small quads. I'm still using analog on everything under 3". I do know the Walksnail system will totally blow analog out, made the mistake of passing a small whoop in front of someone flying and totally lost video. Stupid on my part, but caught me by surprise since the pilot was flying an FPV glider pretty far away.
Dji costs more, but their goggles are also the easiest to find second hand due to being more popular, so if you get a good deal (like I did) they can turn out cheaper

DJI for me. I don't have 15 quads. One quad for outdoors and one whoop for indoors. DJI stuff doesn't break easily so you buy it once and that's it. Reuse if you destroy the quad in a crash. The picture quality is definitely better with DJI which helps immersion and gives me more pleasure from flying. I just upgraded my goggles from the V1 I bought in May 2020 to goggles 2. It still worked fine with my vistas. I just wanted the newer, lighter goggles. My only complaint for DJI is the lack of a lighter vtx for a whoop.

Ehhhhhhh I use to say it's the best untill I started fly everyday and getting faster motors and faster escs and now I have a pile of broken dji crap and sold all my dji stuff. After I made a rule for myself that I would sell a DJI product after two in a row fails me I am out of dji and now into walksnail
Here I am, still working with vistas / air units and v1 goggles, still 4 years after it's launch date. I cannot say DJI is against me if the system just works. Not only that, used vistas are dirty cheap. As I type this I am thinking about buying a set of v2 so maybe I could get an o3 on my flagship quads, and maybe being able to fly a 2" without a naked gopro.

Forced obsolescence is total bullshit! DJI has no more of that than any other brand! Heck, they came out with digital FPV in July of 2019 and those V1 goggles still work fine with any Vista or Link VTX and all cameras! 👍 That's a total 💯% conspiracy theory! Don't believe everything you hear or read. Especially on social media.... Most of that is all made up crap! I have the V2 goggles and everything works perfectly with them. Plus, huge benefit! ... Since DJI is BY FAR the most reliable digital gear, you can decide how many digital quads you want for the future, and just buy how many Vistas/Links or 03 VTX's you want, and be set up for a DECADE OR LONGER ... Because DJI's gear is just about bullet proof! Almost no one has ever had a defect or one go out on them! Add to that they blow away both Walksnail and HDZero in performance... It's not even close (see Bardwell's comparison videos) and it's simply the very best. A prominent reviewer said on his channel that he had to stop using and buying HDZero because he'd replaced VTX's so many times, over, and over, and over again that he just couldn't justify buying any more after his last one burned out yet again! Everyone of them burned out! Walksnail is better than HDZero for reliability and durability but not a whole lot. Many have reported burning out VTX's. Neither even comes close to how durable and reliable DJI's gear is. It simply doesn't break! Forced obsolescence is a total LIE! Maybe on their Mavic automatic drones, but not on their FPV gear! 😁🤘
First off I'd like to say it's about time you got some good help now second of all I have all three systems and I like my DJI for my drones and wings and I love my wax nail for my wings and my HD 0 only gets used when some of my original drones get flown I jumped on the hg0 bandwagon almost instantly said I never go to walk snail or DJI but now I have all three systems and hd0 is my least favorite in my opinion hd0 is like for racing and that's about it
Great review. Although I have to say I'm not sure how fair it is to compare picture quality when the HDZero VRX only runs 720p. HDZero supports 1080p if you use their Goggles. Unless you ran them all at 720p to make it fair?

Hi guys, I plan on putting some more money into this hobby. I have flown some tiny whoops some 3” drones and now I am looking forward to buying something with digital system. I am leaning towards dji due to the image quality and penetration. But I would highly prefer to purchase the new o4 when it comes out. I know these are only speculations but approximately how much time it could take dji to release the new video system for FPV?
I think its incorrect to say dji release products every year as the v1 system was first sold Christmas 2019 and you could still use the v1 system up until the 03 release. As for the interference, there is plenty of information out there that helps you understand the way to avoid that. I think people forget who gave us the amazing world of digital and walksnail are the ones benefitting from it the most.

You are an absolute Star ✨ Shining father of the year award goes to you! Hahaha lol this was totally fun to watch. I myself like to fly analog and DJI goggles 2 with the 03 air unit. My analog skyzone sky 02c have lasted well over 5 years pared with the Rush Solo and solo max, you have the best ideal analog set up in my opinion.
Stew, I fly both systems, DJI with V2 goggles & Walksnail with a VRX on Skyzone 04X V2 goggles. For my eyes Walksnail gives me a better view cause of the OLED lens in the Skyzones. As for DJI V2 goggles if you root your goggles with WTOFS hack thought you can fly DJI 03, AIR, AN VISTA ?. Dont have a DJI 03 wright now but in my goggles it does give me the option to select it if I want to. $300.00 for a DJI 03 here in the US is a little high for me,.but the pros, for me, never broke any of my DJI Vistas yet with all my crashes.. As for Walksnail all of the little white connecters are either damaged or bent pins, so I cant update any or get my flight footage out of the module thats my only Con for Walksnail for me. Hope this helps someone to choose which digital system to use. Thumbs up👍👍

I'm just now moving away from analogue and on to DJI (O3) because I fly at the weekends with other DJI pilots. I've got tired of having to walk 20m away from them when we fly and being blasted out of the sky when their quad gets between me and my quad. I'm loooking forward to getting superior video so I can line up for gaps better, being able to fly in groups, do chases and to get better range/penetration. I'm still keeping my anaologue goggles and my sub 3" quads/micros will remain analogue.
Dji flies fine with dji and analog....i fly analog and my buddy flies dji and i recently built a dji air 03 setup with goggles v2 for chasing and scenic flights... probly ginna get walksnail or hdzero when i fing the right deal or the goggles x look promising
Dji is by far the best system. At our club most of the pilots race with dji. We just had our State Championships in WA and had 7 dji, 6 hdzero and 6 analogue all racing together in groups of 6. Everyone had great video. We are the premier dji racing club with other video brands in the hobby

Wanted to like HDzero but it's no better than the high grade analog stuff I have to my eyes. I spent a bunch of money on Walksnail this year and it looks great although penetration is still iffy. Am now worried about the rumers of an all new Walksnail RF system coming out in Oct 2024 that will obsolete my V1 goggles and air units, do you know if this is true?
Im four minutes into the video and youve said dji doesnt play nice 3-4 times already. Meanwhile, I've flown with every other system you just have to know how to channel manage and set yourself up not to step on others. AUTO is not going to be the answer, unless youre flying with hdzero friends. WS just steps on it too. Power levels are handled by the hz settng.
Why hasn't anyone made a software change to get the hdzero picture defects to just be grey instead of distracting confetti colored? It seems like such a simple change.
The Walksnail system appears to have the best video resolution/sharpness, but the color reproduction is terrible, in both the indoor and outdoor videos you filmed. That color reproduction issue would be a deal breaker for me. Perhaps it's an issue created by the camera or the camera settings and could be easily rectified by using a different camera or settings? Finally, every video I have ever seen created by the HD Zero system, including yours, is always plagued by large artificially-colored digital noise pixels which are very distracting. So, from what I see here, the DJI system is the clear winner for me.
People got tired of the game proprietary RC radio makers were doing to them, so OpenTx came along. Maybe the same thing needs to happen to the FPV's Vtx/Goggle game. Somebody needs to come up with the hardware with an open system.
We race dji , analog/hd zero . in west aust . no real issues just have to run 25mbs and 25mw . separate the pilots. Almost sounds like you're a bit dark on dji. You dont need to upgrade every year , the v1 goggles and original cameras and vista/air unit still rock !!

First off I'd like to say it's about time you got some good help now second of all I have all three systems and I like my DJI for my drones and wings and I love my wax nail for my wings and my HD 0 only gets used when some of my original drones get flown I jumped on the hg0 bandwagon almost instantly said I never go to walk snail or DJI but now I have all three systems and hd0 is my least favorite in my opinion hd0 is like for racing and that's about it
Great review. Although I have to say I'm not sure how fair it is to compare picture quality when the HDZero VRX only runs 720p. HDZero supports 1080p if you use their Goggles. Unless you ran them all at 720p to make it fair?

Hi guys, I plan on putting some more money into this hobby. I have flown some tiny whoops some 3” drones and now I am looking forward to buying something with digital system. I am leaning towards dji due to the image quality and penetration. But I would highly prefer to purchase the new o4 when it comes out. I know these are only speculations but approximately how much time it could take dji to release the new video system for FPV?
I think its incorrect to say dji release products every year as the v1 system was first sold Christmas 2019 and you could still use the v1 system up until the 03 release. As for the interference, there is plenty of information out there that helps you understand the way to avoid that. I think people forget who gave us the amazing world of digital and walksnail are the ones benefitting from it the most.

A conspiracy theory! I have V2 goggles and they are fully compatible with every VTX and all products DJI digital! Plus, they do great analog! And, are available for under $300 Like New! 😁🤘

I agree. There was a whole lot that was way off base in this video. v1 was actually first sold July 2019, and was in hands for that summer, so even earlier.
@KOrnhOliO1 ya, walksnail is catching up but has been outright bad for a long stretch and now is good and closing on dji whereas you have years of a terrible experience for walksnail the years weren't wasted with dji

I myself like to fly analog and DJI goggles 2 with the 03 air unit. My analog skyzone sky 02c have lasted well over 5 years pared with the Rush Solo and solo max, you have the best ideal analog set up in my opinion.
Stew, I fly both systems, DJI with V2 goggles & Walksnail with a VRX on Skyzone 04X V2 goggles. For my eyes Walksnail gives me a better view cause of the OLED lens in the Skyzones. As for DJI V2 goggles if you root your goggles with WTOFS hack thought you can fly DJI 03, AIR, AN VISTA ?. Dont have a DJI 03 wright now but in my goggles it does give me the option to select it if I want to. $300.00 for a DJI 03 here in the US is a little high for me,.but the pros, for me, never broke any of my DJI Vistas yet with all my crashes.. As for Walksnail all of the little white connecters are either damaged or bent pins, so I cant update any or get my flight footage out of the module thats my only Con for Walksnail for me. Hope this helps someone to choose which digital system to use. Thumbs up👍👍

Great video thank you for me at this point I was in to analog and once I got in to digital i got me the HDZERO and its really great and the good thing about having this sistem is that i can fly my digital fpv and anlog with the same goggles.😊

I'm just now moving away from analogue and on to DJI (O3) because I fly at the weekends with other DJI pilots. I've got tired of having to walk 20m away from them when we fly and being blasted out of the sky when their quad gets between me and my quad.
I'm loooking forward to getting superior video so I can line up for gaps better, being able to fly in groups, do chases and to get better range/penetration. I'm still keeping my anaologue goggles and my sub 3" quads/micros will remain analogue.

Dji flies fine with dji and analog....i fly analog and my buddy flies dji and i recently built a dji air 03 setup with goggles v2 for chasing and scenic flights... probly ginna get walksnail or hdzero when i fing the right deal or the goggles x look promising
Dji is by far the best system. At our club most of the pilots race with dji.
We just had our State Championships in WA and had 7 dji, 6 hdzero and 6 analogue all racing together in groups of 6.
Everyone had great video.

From the train video I didn't see a whole lot of difference between Walksnail and DJI. Walksnail seemed to struggle with rapid motion, generating a lot of pixelation. ?

The diagonal interference in HDZero is what analog interference looks like. Maybe wifi but I'd guess analog VTX.

Wanted to like HDzero but it's no better than the high grade analog stuff I have to my eyes. I spent a bunch of money on Walksnail this year and it looks great although penetration is still iffy. Am now worried about the rumers of an all new Walksnail RF system coming out in Oct 2024 that will obsolete my V1 goggles and air units, do you know if this is true?
everything about walksnails new vrx is just rumor's. there is almost no offical info about it except some marketing stuff

Im four minutes into the video and youve said dji doesnt play nice 3-4 times already.
Meanwhile, I've flown with every other system you just have to know how to channel manage and set yourself up not to step on others. AUTO is not going to be the answer, unless youre flying with hdzero friends. WS just steps on it too.
Power levels are handled by the hz settng.

Why hasn't anyone made a software change to get the hdzero picture defects to just be grey instead of distracting confetti colored? It seems like such a simple change.
I got DJI for Work, / Freestyle/ Cinematic........and i got HDZ for Racing
The Walksnail system appears to have the best video resolution/sharpness, but the color reproduction is terrible, in both the indoor and outdoor videos you filmed. That color reproduction issue would be a deal breaker for me. Perhaps it's an issue created by the camera or the camera settings and could be easily rectified by using a different camera or settings? Finally, every video I have ever seen created by the HD Zero system, including yours, is always plagued by large artificially-colored digital noise pixels which are very distracting. So, from what I see here, the DJI system is the clear winner for me.

People got tired of the game proprietary RC radio makers were doing to them, so OpenTx came along. Maybe the same thing needs to happen to the FPV's Vtx/Goggle game. Somebody needs to come up with the hardware with an open system.

We race dji , analog/hd zero . in west aust . no real issues just have to run 25mbs and 25mw . separate the pilots. Almost sounds like you're a bit dark on dji. You dont need to upgrade every year , the v1 goggles and original cameras and vista/air unit still rock !!
