This has always been a favourite hit from an absolute legend of a band.. used to hear this song alot on the school bus radio in the mornings when I was a teenager in the early 80’s Ahhh the memories!
It's way trippier then a lot of US Rock from the time I'd say, least like US Pop Rock and more underground Punk Bands from The States didn't have that vibe.
Ya gotta love Old Aus Rock take a step back & listen to the shit that’s thrown in our faces now. As Shirley said, I’m living in the 70’s. I love the 70’s n 80’s.
Ross was performing this one night when my man and I were snuggled damcing by the stage to OUR Song, Ross lent down and said.. You two have the real Chemistry... It was such a Beautiful night. ❤️❤️❤️
Yes, the Summer of 81, remember it very well indeed. Perth was running hot and everyone living the good life. No one seen the cold around the corner, which hit like an Arctic wind in the Winter of 82. Still We shall remember the good times and let the rest drift away.
LYRICS 👇☺️ She turned me round She said to me: "It all depends on The chemistry..." And Once in a long while If something comes your way You can wash it down the drain Or make it your own Don't waste it Don't throw it away! If the chemistry is right If the chemistry is there If the chemistry is right If the chemistry is there You sit and wait You stay at home You hesitate you End up alone but Once in a long while If something comes your way You can wash it down the drain Or make it your own Don't waste it Don't throw it away! Those moves are very deliberate ones. I can't think who it is, but he's copying a rock and roll singer from the 50's. Partly Elvis influenced in there too.
Yes this is the same guy from Eagle rock and also known as Ross Wilson, which ever name he comes under, he's a great all round performer, he has a show coming up soon at the State theatre in Sydney in August. Go and see it, it will be worth it.
Ah here we go again. While it didn’t allow one to reminisce in the same manner as “come said the boy” it had its own unique message. Good lyrics always deliver the message and a great voice with the right music gives longevity.
I grew up listening to these guys. Always loved their music, a fan forever. I didn't even know they're a melbourne band being a melbourne boy myself, i feel a bit ashamed i didn't know hahaha.
I don't know why Men At Work and Icehouse were practically the only Australian bands to become famous outside Australia in the early 1980s. Mondo Rock, Real Life and The Monitors were just as good.
Just heard this for the first time. Love the intro, sounds a bit like something Shakatak might have come up with - (slightly Night Birds-esque). I can imagine the whole thing being produced by someone like Nile Rodgers and being a massive worldwide hit, with a slightly faster pace. Also, the chorus slightly reminds me of early Simple Minds, or maybe even Hall & Oates.
I heard there's a real video of this song that features Ross and the boys dressed as scientists, messing about with dry ice .. the clip ends up with the boys flying into the galaxy to meet their alien counterparts. Ross loved the video, but the rest of the band were deeply embarrassed and threatened to leave if the video was not scrapped. Ross still has the video keep in his archive of reject music videos.
Back when you were famous because you were actually talented....The base playing is sublime..
Love the base. Just so awesome.
Base is the best.

EPIC DANCE MOVES !!!!!! How good would it be seeing Ross Wilson and Peter Garret busting their moves out together……. 😂🤣😂🤣 👍

Lol
Australia. The 80s. Lucky to be my era growing up
I saw Mondo Rock “ live “ about 5 times. Brilliant “live “ band. Wilson & Mcusker legends
Wow love this song and I have only come across it.
I've never heard this before. Gosh I'm blown away! And this song is literally older than my parents!
Summer of 81 is pretty good as well.
@@ajs41
Yes I've heard that one.
Cool tunes.
@@noelgibson5956 cool world and state of the heart are banging songs
Come Said the Boy is also great tune!
😄😀😀😀
This is the greatest and deepest song of the 80s. Knock it away. I don't know how anyone can ignore its importance.
It's way trippier then a lot of US Rock from the time I'd say, least like US Pop Rock and more underground Punk Bands from The States didn't have that vibe.
Dunno if it’s the greatest song of a decade but it’s a pretty good song. The beat is strong.
@@kdegraa Thanks, man, made me listen to that bass. It is spectacular.
while in his later clips his dance moves needed some remedy, the voice, oh the voice so beautiful!!
Ya gotta love Old Aus Rock take a step back & listen to the shit that’s thrown in our faces now. As Shirley said, I’m living in the 70’s. I love the 70’s n 80’s.
I love the 70's and 80's music. Australian music rocks .
1981 my best year of my life with 84 close second, the early 80s were the best for music.
Remember the era it first came out! Reflected a slower paced , less complicted era!😃
Ahhhh the days when the music was more valued than the dancing..!!! Great work Ross & thanks for the joy of you.
Good music nothing can bring back the '80's 🎶💖🎧💖🎵😎👍
Lessons in the lyrics:
"Once in a long while
If something comes your way
You can wash it down the drain
Or make it your own
Don't waste it..."
Truest words you will ever hear.
I love Ross. He's completely unique and brilliant. Always has been. And gorgeous.
Just reeks summer,cricket..WSC great memories
.thanks Ross....So underrated....Best ever
Ross was performing this one night when my man and I were snuggled damcing by the stage to OUR Song, Ross lent down and said.. You two have the real Chemistry... It was such a Beautiful night.
❤️❤️❤️
Australia had some great bands growing up in the 70s& 80s
How many uncle's think they've graduated from the Ross Wilson Dance Academy after a few beers?
ha ha
Graduated with honours!
Need more than beer😂
So clueless I have washed so much good chemistry down the drain over the years .Another awesome classic
The memories of catching the red rattler from belmore to Wiley park to go to school. Wiley park public school 1981. Newtown jets 1981.
Good memories Robo Cop. Red Rattlers and the old blue bags.. Go the mighty Jets.
Nothing better than listening to Mondo on Australia Day....John and Rose.
Let's do it again. Nothing better than Aussie rock. :)
This is beautiful! A great band and timeless classic 😊
Cruisy and melodic!🙂💯👍
ONE WORD:MAGICAL. 🙏🙏🙏🙏💖💖💖💖💖💖💖

❤ this song i know I will love forever
Great base playing
love it how Ross at 2:49 goes from tiger style to the bear to an early version of the dab.
Im still loving and watching in 2017.
Lol he's definitely clawing at something..
I thought he went from wombat to drop bear?
Ah 1981 !
What a great year
Yeah it was alright if you were ten years old. Video games like Space Invaders were out.
I used to sing this song . What awesome Australian band .
This is gold
Have this song on repeat ☺️ 🎶 🎶
Truly brilliant.. love Aussie rock classics and this band truly know how to make magic happen.. ✌️🙏💓
Ahh the good old days when music was magic!!!! such a great time to be alive, would love to re-live it!
Amen to that. If only we could go back in time. At least listening this music takes us there.
Yes!@@karlrobinson6604
Magical. Thanks for such timeless music
I was born later that year ❤️ wish I'd experienced more. What a time
The chemistry was right for your parents, apparently :'D
Haaaaaaaaaaaaa I can’t get over Ross Wilson’s legs when he dances he’s hilarious haaaaaaaaaaa those skinny legs and those hilarious moves 😆
Those moves are very deliberate ones. I can't think who it is, but he's copying a rock and roll singer from the 50's. Partly Elvis influenced in there too.

The video's so funny dated but as an old person we thought they were so great at the time.]
Classic awesomeness takes me back to the late 80s and early 90s when family time was family time
Omg... love this! Haven't heard it for soooooo many years

This clip is their performance on Countdown isn't it?..I still have this on videocassette, one of my fave Mondo Rock songs :)
no fake noices...great meaning and lyrics .easy to listen after a hard days work.
Great bass line
So underrated, a much better song than come said the boy.
Love this song.

FANTASTIC MONDO..!
I remember waiting at a cityloop Station it was flagstaff station in Melbourne and I remember hearing this song Over the public address system
I grew up listening to these guys. Always loved their music, a fan forever. I didn't even know they're a melbourne band being a melbourne boy myself, i feel a bit ashamed i didn't know hahaha.
As punishment you'll have to listen Justin Beiber for a week.
That's a bit harsh haha.
So many memories of the girl I lost.......😥
love this
fantastic song . . .
I love every fucking thing about this clip.
He reminds me of George mcfly. What a great song
Back in the day when bands had musicianship
yes Simon!
And chemistry
The younger Generations wouldn't know what good music is
🤣 100%
The dancing is less impressive.. but that’s okay. It isn’t about impressing. It’s about being in the moment.
@@garymarquett7989 I'm sure your father said the same thing.
Wow was 17.....what an era for Aus music....How these guys didn't go global!
helen Gianis Probably because like most Australian acts of the time management was incompetent. This is a song that should have topped the US Top 40.
oh my god this is great
man that key board is so cool !
Another great hit written by Eric McCusker.
I don't know why Men At Work and Icehouse were practically the only Australian bands to become famous outside Australia in the early 1980s. Mondo Rock, Real Life and The Monitors were just as good.
Aussie crawl were as WELL
Wow see Diana Ross at the start? Didn't see that before. What a great song, album, and era!!!!

@@Yui-zb8fm Sorry- >_< Thanks :D

To me it sounds a lot like Roxy Music. I can easily imagine Bryan Ferry singing this.
Andy JS his a unique Aussie m8 we love him even though his dance move are a bit different 😉
Happy 70th Ross
Awesome

deep not keep
I think I do remember seeing this video clip once...and I would love to see this again for real
+nzoz1988 I have a vague memory of this, but maybe it was Thomas Dolby's 'Weird Science'. Let me know if you find it.
Interesting fact: This is the first musical demonstration proponent of the ‘Funky Cop’ dance craze, that never took off
Huge shout out to Archie Bunker.. 01:07 !!! lol the sign went down pretty quick tho!!
The chemistry is right Ed.
Never liked all that eagle rock era but loved Mondo Rock
With MR ever song is a winner
I want this as a ring tone
if you want to teach someone how to arrange songs, this one, Cool World, Come Said the Boy....here endeth the lesson...
🧡
With the proceeds from this song the bass player was finally able to buy a shirt.
💓
One word. Reminiscing...
Check out those moves. If that doesn't get the ladies sliding off their seats, nothing will.
It's one of my favourite 80's songs, regardless.
