That seems reasonable pricing, even possibly cheaper than I expected. Equates to about $30000 in NZD which with dealer mark up will probably be $35-40k here in NZ. Given that the 3 door is around $30000 from the dealer,that’s pretty good👍

People are comparing these prices with Mahindra thar even though this is the 5 door pricing and thar only comes in 3 door version
Just the extra doors n nothing much else is costing an arm n a leg. There hardly anything other that a 4x4 transfer case to the whole wagon R type. Come on don't compare a legend the Thar with it.
People who goes after any other car by comparing engine power or other few things are not aware how realible Japan manufactured things are.! Not even BMW or Mercedes engines can beat Japanese in terms of reliability.!
I am so happy that nikhil reviewed this , he is one of the most natural auto journalist and delivers the content effortlessly. Just one question thought Jimny is known for being tough as nails. does this 5 door one feel the same way.

Suzuki in Indonesia really need to import this Jimny. We are absolutely in love with this car even when it's very limited and pricey (because it's imported from Japan). I can't imagine the queue if Suzuki sell this 4 door Jimny around the same price of Grand Vitara fwd.
This is the Maldevtha/Raipur area around Dehradun. Grew up here and love it! Brings back so many memories.

Excellent review. Jimny would be a huge hit in Kerala where there are steep inclines which are not turbo engine friendly. There are people here who still keep Gypsies as a workhorse

This is an absolutely iconic vehicle. Legendary work by MSIL. Sure, it isn't the complete product but what a package. 4x4 for the masses. Yes.

@@csouvik21 it is formidable off road. Its kept up with Landcruisers and Gwagons in group tests. Its a purpose built off roader not a poser vehicle like the thar.
I think it's important to also test fully loaded with all seats taken. And luggage. I think the AC, handling and composure will completely change.

Quite a looker. And also a very competent offroader. If you are under 50, adventurous and rich enough, this would be a great car to possess even if you already own a regular car.

I love hatchbacks for city use. Will this be good for touring?
Drove this in the 2 door variant in Australia. It was really good in terms of comfort and usability in bad conditions but was just terrible on the highway. The automatic I drove just had to be constantly pushed pedal down to keep it moving at respectable highway speeds in Aus. Great off-roader but huge compromise on highway.
Every presenter from every Automotive YT channel putting out a wide grin while off roading says it all.
It isn't everybody's car. But, a cool and light Thar alternative.
Suzukis are far cheaper to maintain and more reliable than the Mahindras.

I would like to upgrade to 215/75/R15 AT from the stock tires. Would this cause any difference in the overall performance of the vehicle.
Also I wanted to know that this being a new vehicle, would the wheel alignment post tire replacement be a difficult job ?
I just don’t want to have any unnecessary problems on a new vehicle. Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

I really love what Suzuki has done with the Jimny, but one question, are the driving characteristics the same when it's fully loaded, especially in it's off-road capabilities given the limited power that it has at disposal.

the 1.5 I4 needs a performance air filter sport exhaust & the suspension could do with a proper 2.0 in. suspension lift & 33.0 in. A/T tyres . . . that should give the Jimny a 26.5° deg break over angle at the very least, if not more . . . SUZUKI should launch the 3-Dr Jimny as well . . .

Great review by Nikhil the rest of the autocar team could learn a thing or two from him. For their love of European cars their reviews becomes extra critical of cars from rest of the world.
it's finally here and it looks very good with the 5-door version but the question is where is the 3-door version maybe discontinued or it's still there

Which is more practical Ignis or Jimny for mild off-road
Unfortunately, I didn't like the video. This is an off-road vehicle. You guys should have shown the real sounds of the car inside and outside while the movement of the vehicle, instead of background music's, especially on off roads.
It was really rushed. Will take feedback for future vids :-)

Is there a second hand/ or a old model?
Jimny is better than Thar in every way except for the safety and engine power.. Even then, the power to weight ratio is at par with the Thar...
1. Better mileage
2. Better after sales
3. Much more reliable
4. Better resale
5. Better off road capabilities than the Thar
6. World wide recognition
Another point to mention, most people just purchase the Thar just for it's road presence and spend most of their time in the city.. True and Hardcore off roaders and enthusiasts will surely go for the Jimny...

When I think of Jimny, I think of Gypsy. When compared to Gypsy, Maruti has taken Jimny to the next level. I like that an Indian company like Maruti has a specific vehicle for off-roading.
The only thing I didn't like was that Maruti should have given a six speed automatic, instead of a four speed. I agree that maybe this engine does not support a six speed, but Maruti could have easily managed to bring a six speed automatic.
Overall, I think this vehicle is perfect for hilly terrains and also for people, who can own this as a second car, beside their family vehicle.
Well, Maruti isn't exactly an Indian company, is it? Its the fully-owned Indian subsidiary of Suzuki Japan. Indian govt had sold its stake in Maruti back to Suzuki a long time ago. Mahindra and Tata could be called Indian companies, and Mahindra has a hardcore offroader in the form of Thar.
Finally the most awaited review.
Although the jimny is too cheap in cost cutting and quality for the unjustified price
and full of compromises like all suzuki cars, I watched the video just because of Nikhil. He is the best car reviewer in India in my opinion. Gavin feels too boring to me now. But those tyres look like bicycle tyres lol. No bottle holders? Only 2 at back? Power buttons in the middle seriously suzuki? Did you ask 16lakhs for such a cheapo? Hope mad suzuki fanboys don't get mad like always.

Wow 🔥🔥🔥..... Jimny will be the best option when it come to off-road in small and narrow road especially in Hilly area because of the size(Small size )..... While thar is beautiful but little bit bigger and bulky.....

Finally, I've been waiting for this model since the 3door launched in Japan. This is It the Holy Grail
Suzuki’s 4x4 all wheel drive system (all grip) is good no doubt about that. That’s why Indian Armed Forces have shown interest for military purpose use as earlier they had gypsy. But they should launch 1.5 KC series engine with 2 wheel drive which will not only increase fuel efficiency but also will be more affordable everyone is not going to use 4x4 ⚡️💯
I think I read somewhere that the cost of modying the chassis for implementing the KC engine was too high (the price would be too expensive). Plus that engine is tuned for efficiency while the current one in use is tuned for better low end grunt which owners would prefer anyway.
I think it makes sense not to have bottle holders specific at drivers and for a SUV as such in case of any bumbs which may lead for bottle to come out. But yes a holder with protect would do the job.

But sadly the Jimny can never go on sale in Europe due to the old engine and its high emissions. I simply can't understand why Suzuki doesn't make a more modern engine available for the Jimny. It doesn't make sense... Does anybody know the reason?
They will plant the modern engine in Jimny after a few years. That is how they extend the product life cycle.

Please convey to the curmudgeonly Product Guys in Maruti they're sitting on a 20k p.m volume only if they do a Booster jet + 5 AT + 2WD. We Indians love our boxy compact SUVs and they have the perfect combo!

Nice review. At some points I felt colours were over saturated for this shooting location. Maybe I am wrong. Also you should explore sulphur water pond next time. It is truly offroad experience 14 kms from the shoot location.
Can Alpha Auto take 04 well built ( good over weight 😢) from Delhi to Manali ? There will some luggage for everyone. What i fear is the overtaking part when in mountains , please advise .

It's a thorough off road suv but I'm worried about it's headlight on twisty hilly roads. I don't think the headlights beam can throw it's beam sideways for better visibility on twisty Hill roads. I think the headlights on my i10 2011 is better than Jimny's. You should have a night driving review on this

Maruti Suzuki needs to stop the Rear Seat Belt Reminder if they cannot cough up the dough to add weight sensors in the Rear. Most owners will simply keep the seat belt buckled in to avoid the beeping which does zilch for safety.
This car reminds me of the 5rs toy car of my childhood 😅
