    As a kayak fisherman I've learned a lot from this channel. Even if you don't give specific fishing spots you made me realize there are a lot of differet areas to target down there. I'm basically looking for ledges nearshore to target stuff like muttons, grovers, grouper etc.

      We make these with the hope that they help people find lobster easily during their stay. Unfortunately, lobster season ends March 31 and remains closed until Mini season at the end of July. Good hunting!

    Outstanding directions and comments. Just what I needed. Going to be heading there for the regular season and will try these spots. This is very unselfish of you to post some "hot spots" because us people that live in the "other" parts of Florida usually get pointed in the wrong areas by the locals that have a grudge about sharing information. Well done. Keep the videos coming.

      Thanks for the positive vibes. Stay tuned, I've got a video coming up on the best channels/canals for catching lobster. I filmed a dozen packed into a 5' length of canal wall. But, you're not allowed to lobster in these during mini-season, so it will be great timing for you. My most productive time of year for lobstering is between October 1 and the end of January. Hope you have a successful trip when you arrive.

    • @lowerkeysliving
      @lowerkeysliving  ปีที่แล้ว

      @epicadventures6671 - September is a great time for lobstering. Since it is your first time trying this, take your time. It's relatively easy once you find the lobster and you'll quickly learn how they move (they swim tail first, and they are fast). Always drop the net down over the tail first and you'll do great. Good luck and have fun!

    I think halfway between spanish harbor and no name key looks good. you can see there is an area in the middle that's cut out for some reason.

    • @lowerkeysliving
      @lowerkeysliving  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      There are a lot of nice holes in that area, also along the East side of No Name Key there's a channel that was cut for houses that were never built -(its featured in last year's lobster video) its easy to see on Google Earth. And since you like kayak fishing try along the bridge between Big Pine and No Name. There is a ramp at Old Wooden Bridge Marina, or there is a trail on the SE side of the bridge. I've got plenty of Bone Fish around the Niles Beach area as well. Thanks for the kind comments and for watching.

      @@lowerkeysliving Appreciate it. I was kayaking in key west this weekend and had some good luck around Mallory square. On the way down saw all the people diving during miniseason near the bridges in islamorada/marathon. Stopped by horseshoe beach (from your recommendation) and the whole area was packed.
      I'm going to finally try some lobstering when regual season starts. I did not know you could get them so shallow. Seems fairly safe. Just going solo in my kayak.

    First off thanks a bunch for the information!
    but I am confused as I read some laws and regulations saying it’s illegal to do it offshore. Within 300 feet? Can you please elaborate on this as it is confusing. Thanks!

    • @lowerkeysliving
      @lowerkeysliving  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 300 feet from shore is only during mini-season and the first 5 days of regular season for most of the Keys. And it only applies to commercially or residentially developed shoreline.
      So, in the back county, say at the Content Keys, since there is no development the rule does not apply. It is not in effect now during regular season. I believe the created this to keep people out of busy waterways during mini-season for safety reasons. Hope this helps.

      The 300' only applies during the "sport" or mini season and the first 5 days of regular season in most areas. Here is a link to the FWC brochure defining the rules - click on the Monroe County Brochure: myfwc.com/fishing/saltwater/recreational/lobster/ Thanks for watching!
