      Love how informative you videos are. This January will be our 4th annual winter trip to the keys from Wisconsin. We stay in Marathon and rent a boat for the week so your videos have helped a ton. Are the lobsters still in these spots and other shallow spots during the winter or so they go deep?

      @lowerkeysliving  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@scottmartin2359 Yes, lots of lobster around during winter. They seem to be more abundant in shallow water during the colder months. January and February are my favorite lobster months. Thanks for watching!

    Spent the day at Niles Rd. 3ft. depth, crystal clear water, 4in. muck, wind was not as bad as Blimp Rd., lowish tide from what I could tell, current + wind and I was dragging my 8lb anchor, I was only one of four kayakers there, No one caught any bugs.

      @davetackett8126 - It was an crazy windy mini-season. I'm so sorry you came up empty. Nile Beach is one of my favorite put in spots for lobstering. Both of my boats were down (in the shop for service). I ended up out on the paddle board. I got my limit in Cudjoe Bay on Wednesday but did not go back out on Thursday. Thanks for watching.

      @stevemcfarland875 - I will post some photos today. My youngest daughter and I paddled out into Cudjoe Bay at6:30 am. We were back at our dock at 7:15 with our limit. I went out on the boat to the gulf side in the afternoon and it was packed with people going for lobster.

    I have to wonder, if your sharing these spots, how good can they be? Most people would want to keep good spots to themselves. Granted some spots are obvious I had already earmarked Horseshoe Beach as a good possibility.

    • @lowerkeysliving
      @lowerkeysliving  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @davetackett8126 - some of these spots are not frequently visited, others are, like Horseshoe Beach. There is a high likely hood of finding keeper lobster at all these spots. Niles Road Beach is one of my personal go to spots. Plus, lobster migrate and move with the tides. Some places get replenished nightly, some don't. I l love the Sammy Creek patch reefs. Sometimes I get my limit in a few minutes, other times I'm lucky to find one. However, I do have a number of secret "honey holes" that I don't share. Thanks for watching.

      @@lowerkeysliving Looks like I'll start at Niles Road Beach first, area does look promising! according to google maps it's around a 3 hr. trip to get there.

      Niles is a great spot, you'll need to hunt a little to find the lobster holes but its such a beautiful you'll enjoy the paddle. Horseshoe Beach is tough for 2 reasons: 1 - its super popular and gets picked over daily. 2. It does not sit right in the tidal current so it takes a while to replenish. There are some good spots right outside of Horseshoe Beach if you paddle out. I went to Little Duck Key (Veterans Memorial Park) yesterday and it was packed with people scouting for Sunday's mini-mini season. Good luck and have a safe trip.

    Google Earth's new off shore images of Lower Keys ocean side are useless now.

    • @lowerkeysliving
      @lowerkeysliving  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @goferizer - I know, the updated images must have been done after a recent storm, you can't see any near shore features. Thanks for watching!
