A hexagon granny square cardigan would be good project to try. You just crochet two big six sided granny squares and they magically fold into a cardigan. You don't have to think and there are a few videos on it. I'm currently making a black one with baby alpaca yarn. Give it a go! This vid just showed me I probably should concentrate more to get it finished. The blanket looks great! Hope you feel better soon.🖤

Hi Jenna - I hope you're feeling better. I used to live in Alaska and encourage your visit with this warning - the majority of the people I knew there decided to move to AK after visiting on vacation. That was my story as well. My recommendations depend on where you want to go and how you plan to get there. If you fly into Anchorage, you will have more thrift stores, but other than the views of Denali and whales from downtown, it's pretty much like any similar-sized city you'd find elsewhere. You could also fly into one of the smaller cities/towns (Sitka, Ketchikan, Juneau) or take a cruise ship or the Alaska Ferry to get there. If you go to only one place, I suggest Juneau. It rains a LOT (I suspect even more than where you live) but is gorgeous. If you have rain gear, bring it. Great hiking, fishing, biking. The downtown is fun to walk around and you can easily get to a glacier if that appeals to you.

I think you got a lot done in 24hrs! As you said, it gets deceptively less rewarding over time since as the square grows it takes longer and longer and longer (and longer...) to do an outside edge. I'm really impressed! Feel better soon, I'm also on the antibiotics/mystery infection train right now and .... well, I'm getting a lot of knitting done, so that's a silver lining?

  • @caylarivera2804
    @caylarivera2804 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Granny square stitch doesn't feel that satisfying tho, because the bigger your blanket gets the longer you have to crochet to get to the end of the row. I'm so glad you decided to split up the 24 hrs BTW, losing sleep can wreak havoc on your immune system, so the 12 hr "shifts" is a much better idea. I think you did phenomenal on this blanket, 24 hours really isn't that long in the grand scheme of things. It takes so much time to craft things from yarn, that's why they are so satisfying and special.

You did SO well to do that much in 24hrs! My favourite pattern for blankets is the corner to corner crochet! It is GREAT for scrap yarn and so easy! Maybe you'd like making a temperature/climate blanket. It's where you choose a colour for every celsius/degree number and every day you crochet one row according to the temperature that day. Like a journal. In the end you probably have a very colourful blanky :)

There are a lot of alaskan cruises which is helpful because then you can not worry about where you're gonna sleep/eat and everything is included. Then when they stop at ports they let you explore the places. Most cruises are super affordable too. Just remember to bring dramamine if you do that though so you're not seasick.

Actually, that's not bad for 24 hours! I don't think I could have gotten that far!!! Then again, I do have carpel tunnel in both of my wrists, and I don't crochet that fast. But it is a curious challenge. I may have to answer it... after I get some of my other projects done! That's my challenge this year for myself, to see how many unfinished projects I can complete. Especially with all the curveballs I get thrown (such as baby blankets/clothing for co- workers, dice bags for friends, fingerless gloves for my son for his cosplay).

Don't be too hard on yourself... I'm a slow crocheter. And I watch others who are really speedy and think "It takes me forever to do 1 piece. How do people do 12 in a month?!" It's called slow fashion for a reason. I just work a little each day even if it is only a row or 2.

I also relate to the fresh bowl and pizza, I always eat the same things when I'm super
lazy and it's cheaper than take out haha!
Wait you can bake the pizza in the package?!?

I read the comments and they missed it again 😢. I'm sorry you're dealing with an infection. It hurts and taking antibiotics sucks.

Cool video! Girl I'm also on my second round of antibiotics because of tooth pain so I'm in bed, knitting for hours and binging on videos and this is my way to recover my health :) happy 24h crocheting!

😃yay! You’re gonna love visiting Alaska! I live in Wasilla Alaska about 45 minutes from Anchorage. Are you bringing the puppies with you? 😁 I can definitely show you around just let me know. My info/email is on my channel. I have a Crochet channel, I’m making your stripy sweater. I’ll be doing a video on it soon. 🧶 I hope you see this comment. I would really love to meet you! It’s so great to see younger people doing crochet and knitting. I love watching your channel and seeing your creations and the puppies too!🤣

gosh i can't imagine doing it for 24hrs, thirty minutes it's enough to my wrist to hurt as f*ck, you're really brave jenna

When your wrist starts to hurt all you gotta do is stretch your arms up and out a couple times and get back to crocheting. You just need blood circulation in your arms so try not bending your arms and leaving them in that position for too long.

Crochet creator: I’m going to crochet for 24 hours straight!
Immediately goes out for food. Talks excessively to the camera. Does laundry, eats again, constantly pausing to watch things.
Crochet artists “I need to crochet for 24 hours.
Fills 2 40oz Stanley’s with water/coffee, puts on support glove, fires up LoFi Girl, has snacks by my side and actually crochets for 24 hours no naps no take backs. Can’t afford to not be a night person.
This is cheating. Just call it crocheting a lot in 24 hours. That’s not even a lot. No shade.
