This is music taken to another level. It's a stunning piece of music, I think a masterpiece. Jimmy Page's playing is so enthralling, but so is John Paul Jones on those haunting keyboards! People shouldn't forget that John Paul Jones was the one that wrote and produced all those proto-ethereal string arrangements in Zep songs. He's such an underrated rocker. Love you always John Paul Johns! Thumbs up if you agree JPJ is fabulous in this too!
Who can touch John Paul Jones? Top ten bass players of all time, extrodianary keyboarist and piano player, not to mention supior mandolin, and guitar skills. As for musical arrangements he is pure genius.
Page displays more talent in this one song than any modern era band could dream of , And remember they came from a time when you had Tull, ELP and bands like Yes floating around, In those days you had to have real talent , or maybe something beyond talent.
Ibelieve Robert Plant back in the day connected with earthy ways .....and this song is his way to relate how each season reflects in every ones life we alll have different emotions with each season....also how love wanes and comes back with a new light....ebbb and flow...Rain makes us all grow
This piece of music in 1975 beats 99% of current music. Soul, melody, passion, voice... unbelievable. I totally agree that we are living in a time full of trash music.
That is one of the most beautiful string of chords in rock history. Jimmie is sweating so much from heroin but still delivering an incomparable composition --a gift for future guitarists. Thank you Jimmie,
This is the song I chose for my dads funeral. It's just such a beautiful song through and through, Houses of the holy was my dads favorite zeppelin album I'll always think of him when I listen to this great band.
Pure genius!! Jimmy’s playing..JPJ keys, playing bass with his feet …Robert’s lyrics and delivery and Bonzo’s thunder when the heavens open the hammer of the Gods falls to the stage and this what you hear… fucking epic !!
my friend jez introduced me to this song to the point he came and played it at my wedding on accoustic guitar dont see jez any more sadly but every time i hear this song it brings such great times thanks jez
After many years of loving this song, I realize only now--watching the live video--that this song is really all about Jimmy Page. It's Jimmy's song, and I didn't even know, but it's still as haunting and beautiful as before.
I play this song when it rains sometimes. its just cool to listen to it and watch the rain fall through my window. Such an awesome song. I wish I could've been alive to see them live in those days. I hate my generations music so much. Fuckin pop bullshit nowadays.
Music & lyrics that evoke pure emotion and is TIMELESS...... is it no wonder, 40 yrs later an entire generation have become fans? This is the parent of Alternative rock. 4 people have never sounded or ever will sound this PERFECT.... this is it.... Thank God I was just entering my teen yrs when they were at their peak, but I appreciate it more now, bc of the crap they now call music....
This is the most amazing, talented, epic, song ever. Jimmy puts so much soul into it... Robert is so... Emotional? in it... Jonesy is simply beautiful... And Bonzo is so powerful... Zeppelin has and always WILL be the best.
@drj602, I have to agree. I grew up listening to this kind of music. I got my first guitar when I was thirteen and I learned to played alot of these songs. I guess you can say I lived the music.
@dog1clear you 2 both obviously have amazing taste in music. i'm 14, but i really got into zep about a year ago. when words can't describe beauty....this song can show it. led zeppelin is one of my favorite bands to play on guitar. page just puts so much soul and emotion into each and every note.... what i would give to be 14 in the 70's.
Jimmy Page is a legend period. There is no other band in the world like these guys. Led Zeppelin has influenced thousands of rock bands since the 70's. Love this video - great job :)
Holy crow - if you've never saw this before - here's your golden Led Zep video key - this playing was all "blacked out" of The Rain Song, because Robert's fantasy sequence was overdubbed into it. Now, I/we get to see John Bonham go ballistic on the drums during the Zeppelin take off & couldn't control myself to shed tears - it was therapeutic for me to finally see ! This song is so fucking moody, dynamic, emotional, sad, powerful & a fucking modern music masterpiece !!! The guys & this song are EPIC !!! RESPECT THE MUSICAL MASTERS !
MY ABSOLUTE FAV. ALTHOUGH EVERY ZEP TUNE IS. IF STRANDED IN SOME FAR AWAY PLACE AND ONLY ALLOWED THE MUSIC OF A GENRE OR COMPLETE COLLECTION - I WOULD TAKE THE COLLECTION OF ZEP'S TUNES HANDS DOWN. THEY WARM MY FUZZIES AND ROCK MY SOCKS. LOVE YOU ZEP!
Agree, Shannon Perry. Zep all the way....all alone in a closet, in a crowd, on a deserted island.....give me Zep and my heart will sing and my soul will be filled......
A masterpiece! Like most LED ZEPPELIN songs. I THINK IT´S A MIRACLE, every song they made they made in their own very special way! Personality is everything!!! Even when music is concerned....
No other band had four extremely talented members who were so versatile. The way they meshed and grew together was what kept them above so many others. Nothing was ever repeated, always something new. Each performance was different too. Without LZ today’s music would not be what it is.
@lancetop you are so right on this. I got to see LZ perform this song three times in the 70's. a king's ransom to experience those wonderful times again! beautiful music and memories.
man im straight up hip hop but im really into led zep, pink floyd, ac/dc etc.. and this song really took it to the next level really! gotta love plant, page, bonham, jones!!
5:14 mark - Boom - crack...bam (the Led Zeppelin take off !!!)... Robert belts out: "Talk to me ! Talk to me ! Now listen ! You don't know this ! I felt the coldness of my winter ! I never thought - it would ever go ! I cursed the gloom that set upon us ! Upon us, babe. But, I know - that I love you so ! So, I can't talk - I can't talk, cause, I know that I love you so !"
@johnex3303 I was 12 when Led Zeppelin's first album came out. Will never forget following album after album as I became a teenager all the way into Kashmir when I was 17. Their music shaped my entire teen years, and it still does.
I'm a 53 yr old male who ain't one to normally show emotion...but when I lay back and listen to this through headphones in a darkened room I shed tears 😢😭...masterpiece of a song
Yikes, that was a nearly flawless performance. I swear if it weren't for Plant's ad libs, I would almost swear it's off the record. Jimmy and Jonesy are scary in how good they are here.
people please..try to understand..and stop fighting.Led Zeppelin are the one of the greatest artists in modern music..they are simply GENIUS..and if the Jesus comes on earth again and I believe it will,he would love them because their music is filled with LOVE and POSITIVE ENERGY
OMG, I'm soooo feelin this right now, transforms me to 1981, the first time I heard it, I was 16, Now I'm 44, but feel 16 all over again, thank you Zepplin
Plant is so colorful, "you dont know, listen" line that he adds, just amazing, and it all comes down to the different versions of the different songs to catch little lines like that.
There are bands, there are musicians, there are composers, there are arrangers, there are songwriters, and there are producers. RARELY DO WE EXPERIENCE THEM ALL-IN-ONE. This is pure magic and part of a much bigger picture - if you don't like or inderstand this gig, back off or get with the whole program people !!
As an 80s and 90s metalhead, I turned my back on classic rock for a number of years as I perceived the music to be "fossilized" and "out of date". It is now 2011, and I just don't have the love or desire for today's sounds like I did for the great music of the past.
Have to say Zeppelin made a niche in music that is one of the greatest right, so Zeppelin to me is considered one of the top three bands ever with The Beatles and Pink Floyd and anyone who knows what it takes to make great must be feeling the same, Peace out!
@TacomaPaul I have been a Led Zep fan since I first heard Whole Lotta Love back in the 70's. I still remember where I was at and what I was doing when I heard it. It just blew me away, been a fan for years, but if you are offering I will accept your generous offer for the bootlegs. I am 49 and trying to learn to play the guitar now. This is one of the songs I am trying, even with my lack of experience it sounds good. That says a lot about the song.
Led Zeppelin could really capture emotions in music, and such beautiful music. What about a challenge: Describe what you see inside of you when you hear this song. I see a man and a woman in love, running towards each other while the water is falling from the skies.
masterclass , master of the music universe , i know that this song is originally played on an open g tuning , but live he plays it in normal tuning , jimmy page is a true genius in music
I first heard this song when some friends were jammin' at a party. It was getting late, so they had to go acoustic. I was hypnotized. The guy playing the 12 string guitar was awesome....I never knew Zeppelin played anything quite so beautiful...musical poetry.
@ThePeterstrasser yes, it was the 1980 tour, bought my ticket, and the next day show was cancelled. This was the only chance I ever had to see Led Zep. I am originally from Va and they never came to Va, as far as I know. 1980 went to Pittsburg for school, and Led Zep scheduled one night, then Bonzo passed away, that was the one concert I wish I would have seen. Maybe some day they will do one more tour together, I heard Page and Jones wanted to but Plant was already on his Solo tour.
@skullfoot Because just before this song he had played the Song Remains the Same, on which he uses both necks. It's a direct seque from that song into this one, so no time to change guitars.
Poetic lyrics, beautiful vocals, a guitar that aches, a genius guitarist/song writer and a band that rivals any to date..... PURE PERFECT... A rock band whose music is filled with RAW emotion - those were the days..... I don't think "Bands" exist anymore - there are only performaers now.... SAD
@jcrane721 it cut me off, lol, but Plant has one of the most recognizable voices in the industry and it was truly some sort of divine spirit that was able to assemble these talents. LED ZEPPELIN IS THE BEST AND I COULDNT AGREE MORE WITH YOU!
Masterful performance by Page - no-one can touch him with this kind of stuff. I think I said it in some other thread but it's worth repeating - he puts more ideas in this one song than most guitarists come up with in a lifetime...
Led Zeppelin is priceless. I was born in 84 and this band was before my time but IMO they set a benchmark for other bands to follow. They are amazing. This song shows that. This is the ultimate love song. It is love in its truest form. There are always the great moments, but there is always a little rain. Amazing!
The best slow song the mighty mighty Led Zeppelin ever released. Thank you Robert , Bonzo, Jimmy, John for all the beautiful music that permeates my youth And untill the days when Im too old to hear them, I'll always listen to these songs and the tales sung about in them
Led Zeppelin is one of those bands who literally can speak through your soul, It is almost like magic, I don't know how to explain it... Words can't describe it.

👍👌
Anyone who says they don't like Led Zeppelin, have never heard Led Zeppelin.
Jimmy page:
Genius of rockmusic ever
Page displays more talent in this one song than any modern era band could dream of , And remember they came from a time when you had Tull, ELP and bands like Yes floating around, In those days you had to have real talent , or maybe something beyond talent.
ABSOLUTELY BANG ON COMMENT ⭐️🌞👍🏻
Such a beautiful movement I say .they were such a great inspiration to so many .....still today the legend lives on to our children of tomorrow ❤❤❤
Pure MAGIC..
@johnex3303 ...I graduated in 1979 and I listened to "Zeppelin" through out the 70's. Stair way to heaven is my class song.
That guitar and that amp sound just about better than anything on this planet. It's just too much.
Ibelieve Robert Plant back in the day connected with earthy ways .....and this song is his way to relate how each season reflects in every ones life we alll have different emotions with each season....also how love wanes and comes back with a new light....ebbb and flow...Rain makes us all grow

1968-1980=the greatest 12 years in music
December 2021. This is Jimmy’s song. You feel the beauty and so much emotion from this song. A little rain must fall. ☮️☮️
You don't listen to this song, you experience it, and it's bloody amazing.
I really miss these days so much! I had the MOST fun in my life back then. People were REAL and life was just so fun!
The Greatest Musical Group Ever to Play
At 65 I still am so happy, emotional and every feeling my heart can take when I hear this beautiful song. ❤
I am 31. This is music!!
Thank God that such music existed.
This song transcends all boundaries, genres, and eras of music. It is and always will be timeless.
Pure genius!! Jimmy’s playing..JPJ keys, playing bass with his feet …Robert’s lyrics and delivery and Bonzo’s thunder when the heavens open the hammer of the Gods falls to the stage and this what you hear… fucking epic !!
thank god they recorded it. Today it sounds like music coming from another galaxy.
super-human
my friend jez introduced me to this song to the point he came and played it at my wedding on accoustic guitar dont see jez any more sadly but every time i hear this song it brings such great times thanks jez

This is the live versions I always search for. Defiantly the best one.
No the one from TSRTS is the best one.
@@LoneLee2022 naw - this one has the best groove and performance from the band.

Great piece. Shows again why Led Zep was the best LIVE band ever.
Not fair how perfect this is. If only todays artist's had this sort of dedication and poetic skills.
James Patrick Page was & is AMAZING!!!!!
A pouring heavy rain falling on my city while listening to this song, an apocalyptic moment for reflection.
This song is incredible, what a masterpiece :) I wish music today still had that spark of joy, ive guess not.
Im 13 and Led Zeppelin is one of my fav bands and always will be

it bears new fruit
No other band had four extremely talented members who were so versatile. The way they meshed and grew together was what kept them above so many others. Nothing was ever repeated, always something new. Each performance was different too. Without LZ today’s music would not be what it is.
Them and the Beatles
Before I die , I wanna play this live for Led Zeppelin .. Tribute for my Hero's!
@lancetop you are so right on this. I got to see LZ perform this song three times in the 70's. a king's ransom to experience those wonderful times again! beautiful music and memories.
Said it before ... say it again. BRILLIANT!!!

I get goosebumps every time. But I heard the lyric as "I kept on, I kept on, cause I know..." Which is pretty darn poetic.
my favorite soft song from led zeppelin i basically cry from this song in a way that my soul is eternally intertwined with this song ;)
greatest band ever!
@johnex3303 I was 12 when Led Zeppelin's first album came out. Will never forget following album after album as I became a teenager all the way into Kashmir when I was 17. Their music shaped my entire teen years, and it still does.

+Miguel de Sousa That's right, and the Knebworth performance by Plant was the best he's ever sounded.

OMG, I'm soooo feelin this right now, transforms me to 1981, the first time I heard it, I was 16, Now I'm 44, but feel 16 all over again, thank you Zepplin
sweet fcuking poetry
Music that precedes the time, on another day in another moment there will be more of this and the world will no it!! Ah so sweet................
I was a cat..... Now I am a Lion!
In 2024- I just can’t get enough of listening to this song 🎵! It’s so beautiful- truly a masterpiece
LED Zeppelin a maior banda de rock and roll pura magia 🇧🇷🤘🏿🔥⭐🌙🪱🕯️🎩🔱
page is on fire !!! through out this whole gig !!!!!!!!!
This may be the most underrated of Zeppelin's songs--and in its top three best.
Plant is so colorful, "you dont know, listen" line that he adds, just amazing, and it all comes down to the different versions of the different songs to catch little lines like that.

This is an angelical song, the way Page plays and how JPJ matchs the hammond with him...

you don't need to be from the 50's to appreciate this music. you just need to shut your eyes and listen
i have listened to this song everyday 4 the past week makes me happy every time
"It is the spring time of my loving"
how could a love song start more poetic
the whole concert is A-W-E-S-O-M-E
well quite frankly the best alternate tuning performance of a song that stirs the bones i have ever heard . Led zep were amazing in this dvd
Have to say Zeppelin made a niche in music that is one of the greatest right, so Zeppelin to me is considered one of the top three bands ever with The Beatles and Pink Floyd and anyone who knows what it takes to make great must be feeling the same, Peace out!

(Wish was here for the time of good music. )
16& Born in the wrong generation
I'm not ashamed to sound 'drama". :-) this songs brings out some sort of tears from way deep inside. It's a type of magic healing.
@ThePeterstrasser yes, it was the 1980 tour, bought my ticket, and the next day show was cancelled. This was the only chance I ever had to see Led Zep. One of the most underrated zep songs, and one of the best of all time. All of zeppelins stuff like this is AMAZING
@skullfoot Because just before this song he had played the Song Remains the Same, on which he uses both necks. It's a direct seque from that song into this one, so no time to change guitars.

Masterful performance by Page - no-one can touch him with this kind of stuff. I think I said it in some other thread but it's worth repeating - he puts more ideas in this one song than most guitarists come up with in a lifetime...
It can't get any better than this
Many people would argue that beauty is only viewable... Well, I just saw and heard beauty. This song is simply amazing.
Led Zeppelin is priceless. I was born in 84 and this band was before my time but IMO they set a benchmark for other bands to follow. They are amazing. This song shows that. Best Zeppelin song. Period.
Led Zeppelin just rocks that's it I wish I could have been there at the time but their music inspired me to play guitar so it pays it all off
Led Zeppelin is one of those bands who literally can speak through your soul, It is almost like magic, I don't know how to explain it...
Words can't describe it.
