In this video Jason uses his battery from the Rotolight Aeos on his Neo 2 to give it a real extra punch in the shots! The Neo 2 typically takes 6 (six) AA batteries to be powered remotely. But when you use the Dtap connection you can take the battery from the Aeos or the Anova Pro 2 and plug it into the Neo 2 making it significantly more powerful in flash mode than when you use just AA batteries.

Note; there are also D-Tap distribution blocks and extension leads; so you can power 2, 3 or even 4 NEO2 with 1 battery; and with an extension lead, hang the battery lower on the lightstand.

Great to know that those quite pricy batteries can be used for other options, but with the great sales from Rotolight it’s a win win...thanks for helping us out Jason, and thanks for all of the behind the scenes information on the uses and proper handling...stay safe to you both!

The Jason discount on Rotolight equipment makes the otherwise expensive gear, way more affordable. I wish the D-Tap discount package also included an option to include the required cord at a discount too. Be sure to buy the cord if you are buying your first d-tap through the Jason discount. Thank you for the video.

You can do this also of the AC power supply included with the NEO2. I have done this with both the AC supply and with the DTAP cord and a VMount battery. Finally if you don’t have a VMount battery that AC power supply can be powered by many of the different Li Ion Battery powered inverters or even a generator and an extension cord. So getting the most power out of the NEO2 can be done many ways.

If you already have the Aoes battery one would assume you have the light. Am I right in thinking that you have more power again. So this idea is really only for people who only have the neo 2 and can buy an extra battery. Is this thinking correct?

A USB4 cable can supply up to 240 W of power, per the USB PD Revision 3.1 specification. The USB-IF announced that in late 2021 (upping max support from 100 W), so 240 W USB-C power delivery is limited. There are, however, some 240 W USB-C power meters available, as well as a cable from Club 3D. Note that a USB-C cable doesn't have to be USB4 to support 240 W power delivery; it can use an older generation of USB instead.
240 W power delivery is also an optional feature of USB-C cables, so to ensure you know what you're getting, you can look for the USB-IF's optional logo, which has 240 W and 60 W USB PD branding.
