    I am doing a shoot like this in two days time,I have put a lot of time and effort into it and found the perfect model (did a shoot with her before) and have 2 people to help with lights etc and a second photographer who knows more than me to take advice from.
    I bought my Sony Camera after watching your video's and now you still inspire me to push my limits and take great images..Thanks Jason,you are a top geezer..

    Jason, I've heard a lot about longer lenses compressing the background, but this comparison you showed really brought it home. Your demonstration of ambient exposure and then adjusting the light to match was also really helpful. Thanks for another great video.

    I have been watching Jason's vids for a couple weeks now. He has good info on Sony A7's (and A9) and lenses he uses to get the shot he wants (like the 200mm in this vid = bringing in the red sign in the background). But, I've noticed (and been quite annoyed by) the *poor sound quality*. His voice is running too hot somewhere in the audio chain.
    DISTORTION (high pre-gain) sounds GREAT on electric guitars! But is is SO ANNOYING on voices. @6:05-6:30 this vid sounds good - there's no distortion. His voice is *nice a clear*. I can clearly understand what he is saying. You will also notice that his voice is quieter in this passage of video. That's NOT to say that he needs to talk quieter!! NO! In fact, we need him to continue to speak up as he does (quite well I might add) because then your microphone will be less sensitive to the ambient sound in his environment (like the people at the wedding at Disney, or the sound of the ocean in this vid, or people walking by or who/whatever is there. You're not in a quiet sound studio.) Before and after that point in this vid (@6:05-6:30) his voice is distorted almost all the time. My guess is that you are running the signal waaay too hot into the sound recording device on location - which is the second part of a lengthy audio chain (the first being the microphone). Your third part is probably whatever processing is done in the computer during post production.
    Distortion sounds like $hit, so please please please LEARN how to record AUDIO. You obviously don't know how to because this is the fourth or fifth vid that has $hitty SOUND. It's completely distracting when I'm trying to listen to Jason explain/teach/give tips on how to do what he's doing.
    PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE in future videos!
    Most *video* guys have NO clue how to record/compress/process *audio*. I have done audio for a long time. Here's a couple tips:
    1. *make sure* that your audio signal (mic) is running into a digital recorder,
    2. make sure that recorder has an accurate audio signal level meter,
    3. make sure your audio signal level NEVER exceeds *-10dB*.
    If your signal ever reaches 0dB then I guarantee that it is actually exceeding 0dB and that's where your distortion problems have begun.
    Once you have recorded a distorted signal there is NO way to fix it! There is no "Photoshop Fix" for audio distortion ("barrel or pincushion" LOL).
    4. If you find that you are peaking at -10 or even down at -20 and you *still have audio distortion* then it could very well be a piece of crap mic. Good mics are not cheap! (you get what you pay for.) Please ask Jason to invest in his audio gear so that his youtube vids don't sound like crap anymore. LOL.
    Here's one example: www.dpamicrophones.com/microphones/dfine/4088-directional-headset-microphone
    *Shure* is another brand that has been doing pro audio components for decades (almost every concert you've ever been to has Shure vocal mics on stage - including headset mics).
    Thank you.

    Hey Jason, if you tell those engineers at Sony to make the Sony A7Siii with an articulating touch screen, 10 bit 4:2:2 Internal recording,4K 60fps, I'll personally wash your car every morning, and give you a massage on sundays.

    • @nateo200
      @nateo200 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Internal 10-Bit 4:2:2? Not happening on a stills camera but externally 10-Bit is a realistic thing.

    • @abhishijack

      nateo200 Dude, the Gh5 has it.

    • @nateo200
      @nateo200 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, I know....but Panasonic has been about that 10-Bit for a while and while they do have high-end cinema cameras they seem to have a different approach to them than Sony. They also seem to be pushing their AVC-Intra and AVC-Ultra more than Sony seems to be pushing the XAVC variants that support 10 and 12-Bit. That said....I'd love to be wrong!!! The A7SIII definitely needs some epic improvements. Idk if I posted it here but I want it to be able to shoot 4K in Full Frame and S35 and 1080p at S35 and M4/3rd's so a 16MP Sensor with the same sensitivity seems reasonable to get there. Remember, the A7SII doesn't have Sony's new special copper wiring that the A6300, A6500, and A9 have to absorb more light and the first two are S35 sensors only. 4K XAVC-S 160Mbps 8-Bit 4:2:0 @ up to 60fps and 4K XAVC 200~Mbps 10-Bit 4:2:0 internal @ up to 30fps and 10-Bit 4:2:2 external would be great. Overheating may become an issue as we saw with the first A6300's, and I've only seen it once on mine. GH5 has the advantage of a smaller sensor for readout speeds produce less heat while the Sony A7's are thinner, and full frame.

    Hey Jason, great video! Will the HSS on the Aeos work with the new Sony a9 at 20 FPS?

    • @DarrenD777
      @DarrenD777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'd bet $100 it will, because this vid was probably shot at 24fps or 30fps, or even 60fps. I think the vid guy uses a Sony a6500...but don't quote me on that. I bet Jason lists the equipment he and his crew use - at his website.
      But, good question, because LED's do flicker, so I see why you ask.

    • @DarrenD777
      @DarrenD777 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      BUT, the new A9 will shoot at 32,000th of a second (a first for any DSLR/mirrorless still cam because there's no need for a mirror or a shutter - smartphones have no shutter which is what Sony was talking about when they said the new a9 sensor is a larger version of smartphone sensors that Sony has been producing), so....how fast does the LED flicker? I dunno.

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Stacy and Durst, Rotolights use flicker free technology - so you will have no issues with flicker at any FPS. Thanks!

    Jason, I noticed you seem to like shooting in Live View. Is there any particular reason you're doing so. How do you manage to avoid camera shake holding the camera the way you do, such as with one hand down around your belt. Is that why you're shooting at 1/1250th.

  • @brandondupont21

    Hey Jason how do you trigger the flash feature on the Aeos? Does it come with a trigger? Also any word a gmaster 35mm that you may know of? Thanks brother🤙

    • @Rotolight
      @Rotolight 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Brandon, the AEOS does not come with a trigger although you can use any transmitter and receiver set that is HSS capable and has a PC Sync Port. If you have a Sony, we recommend the King Pro S trigger or if you have Nikon/Canon we recommend the Phottix Odin II. Hope that helps!

    Big question, how does the high speed sync photography with this Aeos light compare to that of the high speed sync capability of the Anova Pro, which is twice as much money?

      Hi the Aeos is 5750 LUX at 3 feet with a stop extra brightness in flash mode, the Anova PRO 2 is 10,700 LUX at 3 feet with an extra stop of brightness on top of that, so double the brightness to start with then having the flash on top.

    When you shot with 2,000 ISO, do you get noise? Or because you have enough lighting on the subject that noise isn’t a problem at high iso setting?
    It would be nice if we can see the settings on the pictures you take. Is it available through patreon?

    could you get the same lighting quality or close enough, with the cheap f and v led light abd diffusor and reflector??

    Thanks for having a black woman on set! That gave me life... I don't know why but it did. I watch your videos all the time, I'll be watching even more. I feel your video is not of an asshole! Spreading knowledge is the best thing someone can do in life! Thanks for these videos!
