    This is the most in depth alternator removal I’ve been seen. Even showing how to remove it clip instead of just saying to remove them. Amazing!! 3 mechanics, including one that I bought the special tool to loosen the belt off pulley could not do this without unbolting so many things or stretching my belt with a screwdriver. I never trust anyone except myself unless I absolutely need to. Thank you for affirming me that I can easily do this

New alternator on. Putting the new belt on..what a Mission!!!😢. A mechanic friends responded to my request for help. He put the 19mm with the pipe extension on the tensioner from UNDERNEATH the car. Five minutes and we were done. 😊.

    Your video is helping motivate me to custom fabricate a large case hairpin in place of the small unit. I am a ford mechanic by trade, and can appreciate the thorough advice for the novice. I hate when see all the broken stuff from previous repairs. I've broken some myself over the years, but only on old vehicles where the plastic has been baked and brittle. I can still count on one hand have many I have broke in 10+ years. It really isn't that hard. I can appreciate your skill in conveying that to your audience.
    Anyway, I'm about to make 200 + amps at dead idle about this time tomorrow, 270a+ at 1800 rpm thanks to your detailed video. I needed to see the bottom bracket to confirm fitment of a large case hairpin that is much more capable than the stock unit, and it indeed will work, easy peasy.
    BIG thanks for the shortcut, I got to confirm the easy way after watching about half a dozen other videos on it. This one shows the upper and lower mounts empty, which is EXACTLY what I needed to see. Now I can be a lazy mechanic for the rest of tonight until I feel frisky tomorrow.

    @JustAleron 7 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    Just a heads up, although it may appear that mechanics are "too rough" with the connections (granted at times there definitely are horrible mechanics that don't care), you should keep in mind Toyota used really cheap plastic for the connections- which over time (with heat and different environmental conditions), will end up being extremely fragile and can break with the slightest pinch to remove. General rule of thumb is to simply be as careful as you can when handling connections on an engine.

    One suggestion for the lower bolt. Use a 1/2" wrench or breaker bar with a 6-point socket, NOT a 12 point! Toyota installs these really tight and the 12 points can round over the head.

    It's some easier to change alternator on a 86 Toyota Corolla. Only 2 connections. One for the voltage regulator, and one for the charging wire. But had to do it from below in the grease pit to get the 14mm ''main'' bolt out. Has to reconnect the regulator wire here too. Did replace the pluggs and wires at the same time. Now it runs smooth without ''droop''. 14,4 V DC charging and some better lights too.

      Yes, it sounds like the bearings might be going on your alternator. There's no way of knowing how long your alternator will last. One day it will just start smoking and then seizes up leaving you stranded on the side of the road. If it's got a lot of miles on it you might just want to replace it now.

    With the two alternator bolts removed from a 2009 Venza 3.5 I couldn't get the alternator out. The bracket attached to the right inside bottom corner of the alternator had a wire attached to it. I could not release the clip so I turned the alternator sideways to access the bolt holding the bracket unto the alternator . After I removed the bolt and maneuvered the wire harness that's in front of the alternator it came out easy. The bottom alternator bolt was accessed from underneath the car. (not to be confused with bracket bolt) And yes I removed the fan.
