Hi Peter, that’s a brilliant conversion, I only wish you were able to go into more detail about the rear brake master cylinder work. Being in the uk, it wouldn’t be cost effective or practical, to send it to your mechanic over in Australia. Also, I don’t do facebook, so can’t get to see your Facebook page. If you are able to provide more information, that would be very helpful and greatly appreciated by many I’m sure. Cheers
Peter, is there a way you ask your mechanic how did he tap the master cylinder. What tap size he use and how deep. I purchased a new master cylinder for my 2022 Africa Twin DCT. I will try to do it myself. I just wanted to ensure, I do it right the first time. The new master cylinder from Honda is not cheap.
Hi, I have a Honda ctx700n DCT. Can I buy any left handed brake master cylinder to do the conversion from foot brake to hand brake or is there something I have to watch out for? I’m thinking to just change the right brake at the same time so that it looks even. Thank you.
Here is a link to the parts list for the Left hand Rear Brake mastercylinder and brake lever. www.bike-parts-honda.com/honda-motorcycle/750-SCOOTER/X-ADV/2017/ADV750LH/Frame/REAR-BRAKE-MASTER-CYLINDER/93002/F_15/2/28742
Peter for us folks in the States where the X ADV isn't available could you please post the part number for the master cylinder. That way I can search Honda dealers here to see if I can buy one. Thanks
Thank you very much! Im just trying to locate a spare master cylinder so I can have a go myself. It would really help me at low speed, as my left leg doesn't work and where I would normally modulate my low speed with the clutch I cant on the AT. Which mechanic shop do you use? maybe I could post them my master cylinder and they could thread in a banjo bolt, though i'd have to pay them by bank transfer as I'm in the UK. Thanks again.
Hi Peter. Very interested in your modification. Planning to the same mod to my NC750X DCT. Question? I was planning to connect the ADV reservoir directly to the ABS unit where the foot brake hose would normally connect. This would be simpler than having the involved machining you smile of, and would clearly maintain function of the ABS on the rear wheel. So did you consider that method (especially as you were to be removing the foot brake pedal anyway) and if not was there a special reason you connect the ADV lever to the existing footbrake master cylinder? Love you video. Cheers. Ian
hello Peter , i finally received the left brake lever. i just don't understand what you had to thread at the bottom master cylinder. could you please let me know? cheers!
Hi Peter. I just tried to send an email to Port Performance (FAO Scott) but it has come back with a "Cannot Find Email Address” message. Do you know if they are still trading or have they changed name and therefore email address. Thanks
It is so stupid from honda that they are not doing it on all their DCT bikes (at leas option) from factory. You hit the point with offroad africa on the hill, controlling rear break with hand is easier.
As soon as the 2020 Modelnis released in Australia, which should around March, then I'll trade my old Girl in on a 2020 DCT and do exactly the same. The ease of riding through sand, up and down steep rocky hills and traversing tight terrain, is just makes life so much easier. I agree, Honda should do it, or make it an option.

Salty Bill,
Thanks for the nice comment mate.
Yes it is an easy mod, I don't know why Honda don't do it as standard or as an option.
Very well done. And thanks for the details
Exactly what I was looking for ! Thx

Nice work. Where did you source that shorty replacement parking-brake lever?
G'day Chris,
The shorty was sourced by my local bike mechanic. I'll contact him tomorrow to get the details and let you know.
Peter.
Fantastic! Thanks for the info. Did the rear brake hose / banjo's come off the XADV also, or did you just by an appropriate size hose elsewhere?

love it! any chance you can post the links of the parts you bought from the X Adv?

Where to buy parts break hose, join connect rear master cylinder
I am working on it i bought most of the parts i just need the part # for the fitting in rear master cylinder + banjo bolt thanks
Crotchrocket,
The hose and banjo bolt did not come off The XADV. I had them made by my local mechanic.

Hey Peter, would you tell where to get the parkink brake which you had mounted on your 2017 Africa
That's very ingenious. Thanks for posting up this video.

Hi Peter, I'm going to link this video on my site, hope that's ok, thanks!
Care to do a vid for how you fit those Steg Pegs? They look to be a custom mod

It has to be threaded because, there is no thread in the rear Mastercylinder to allow the bolting of the new brake line.
Nice decision.
Hey Peter, any chance of seeing the 2020 AT?
Yep....
Here is the link.

Peter Mansbridge haha! Thanks man! I am starting on this project tomorrow. I finally got all the parts in.
Brilliant work.
G'day Jim,
Feel free to add it to your site.
What site do you have mate?
Awesome, thanks for explanation!

@@petermansbridge1 Yes. New africa 2020 is really cool, cruise control, tubeless tires, adjustable windshield.
G'day people's,
