No need to remove grip. Kill switch bracket is removable, and the Ox Brake bracket opens up completely. Installed mine on my Reklused KX250F with no issues.
depends what you want to do with it m8... if you really want to push its boundries i would make a bracket, add another brake and put it to a magura brake lever. But, in fairness, never did that with my huskie 510 since it lacks the room on the handlebars due the clutch.
probably one of the best explained installations I have seen. thanks. I was wondering if this system would help me, I lost my right foot in the service(still there just no movement) but I would prefer being able to pull clutch in 1st then modulate rear brake as needed... can this system be setup like that? I am also looking into an auto clutch from Gary Buzzell as Rekluse does not make one for my 2002 ktm 400 exc.
Since both levers are on the same side, I don't know if that would be difficult or manageable. I would ask that question on the product page to get answers from customers using this set up. www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/950/69203/OX-Brake-Left-Hand-Rear-Brake-Kit
@@Bryan-Hensley , just wanted to clarify that I am the new recipient of a PROTOTYPE from Ox-Brake(from the designer/inventor Charles "chuck" Schueller) for my 2002 KTM 400 EXC. Thanks for all the advice.
@@Bryan-Hensley , will do. the installation is exactly the same up to the master cylinder. The rear of the brake lever must be ground at a slight "outward" angle to allow for clearance between the Ox-brake extension and the swing arm. The cable mount clamp is mounted as far down on the cylinder that it will go. The hose clamp is then safety wired to keep it from loosening. The cable that was sent was about 2 inches to short so I was sent another, I removed aound 3 inches and left a small bend behind the headlight plastic. Otherwise... PERFECT installation will be trying it out tomorrow.
Ox only list these for dirt bikes, dual sports, and some ADV bikes. But you can reach out to Ox directly to see if they have any further advice or something that would work for your application. ox-brake.com/contact/
Would I be wrong in saying that this is basically a bicycle brake, with an adapter to make it pull on the rear master cylinder? because I have a BMX brake that I took off the bike, and a welder so I'm thinking I could make one to try it out instead of spending the $200.
Yeah that's basically the concept of it. The 2 adapter pieces (one that attaches at to rear brake reservoir and one that attaches to the brake lever linkage) would definitely be the hardest pieces to make. But if you're confident in your skills its worth a shot!
@@rmatvmc I haven't figured out the cable holder yet (its winter, and the snow outside is deeper than it has been all year so I can't ride anyway), but I was able to make the clevis mount out of one of the bicycle calipers, simply by cutting it up a little with a hacksaw and bolting it on with a longer bolt. After doing this I have come to the conclusion that this system is WAAAAYYYY overpriced, especially because the way I did it the extension is tucked out of the way much better and it doesn't put any unnatural stress on the clevis, because I have it reacting on the pedal itself and not the clevis. Total invested if I didn't already have a BMX brake is less than $30. Update: a hose clamp and a bent piece of metal with a notch cut out of it took care of the cable holder.
Ox brake make one for the RMZ450 which requires a little modification to the bracket where it fits on the rear brake pedal, and you need to make a little cable perch because the RMZ master cylinder is different. I made a basic bracket and perch and fastened it to the rear facing side of the alloy master cylinder protection plate.
How about making the left handle "throttable" so you can use that as the rear brakE

The clutch lever stays in the same spot that it is normally in. You can see the stock clutch lever with the Ox-Brake below it at 8:10 in this video.
