@Tech Gear Talk what camera and lense are you using in this video? I'm looking for the background blur that you have and how far is your camera from you? Because I want people to see my desk in my vlog
I bought the M50 mark II last year with the 18-150mm kit lens and took it to Dubai Expo 2020. I’m ashamed to say I’m still a novice at photography and used it a lot just in auto mode. However I was surprised at how well most of the shots came out. I returned to the UK and bought the smaller 11-22mm kit lens. Thank you for this video. I’m still getting to grips with the basics of aperture, iso and shutter speed so looking forward to getting out more to use it (once the UK stops raining!)
I have done thorough tests of the EF-M 22mm f2, the EF 50mm f1/8 with and without a Viltrox speed booster, the EF-M 15-45mm kit lens, and the EF-S 55-250mm IS STM lenses. TL,DR: 22mm is sharpest when the aperture is open to f4 or larger and has consistent sharpness throughout the entire image at all f stops. 50mm without the booster is sharpest at f5.6+, but when speed boosted has greater center sharpness and worse middle and edge sharpness up until f11, where it has the same sharpness in the center with and without the booster. The zoom lens, predictably is the sharpest when you can't get close to a subject you want to focus on because optical zoom beats the heck out of digital zoom/cropping in. The kit lens isn't the sharpest at anything, but is versatile since it can cover most common zoom ranges and that can be useful when carrying multiple lenses isn't an option. At low light where we go to f4 and below the 22mm is the sharpest and maintains its sharpness throughout. The 50mm with the Viltrox speed booster becomes gradually sharper in the center and beats the 22mm in center sharpness at some of the higher of those low apertures, but the sharpness falls off at the edges badly. At f5.6 the 50mm without the booster has the sharpest edges, the 50mm with the booster has the sharpest center, and the 22mm isn't the sharpest anywhere, but is still consistent in the sharpness it does have throughout. The 55-250mm all the way down at 55mm (I was only able to test it there due to the room I was testing in being a limited size) doesn't win for sharpness anywhere. It is much better at giving sharpness when using its zoom. An optically zoomed 55-250mm will hands-down be sharper at the spot it is focused on than any of the other lenses in a situation where getting closer is not an option. It has its place and is great for bird watching and is strongest when looking at things far away that the other lenses would need a digital zoom to isolate which would destroy their resolution. At f8.0 the 50mm without the booster wins in overall sharpness as the corners catch up then surpass the sharpness of the 22mm. The 50mm with the booster still has the sharpest center, but the falloff in sharpness towards the edges is slowing down. The 22mm is still consistent throughout, but isn't the sharpest anywhere at this narrow aperture. If you want to use the 22mm in bright situations, I recommend you keep the aperture open around f4 and set the shutter speed high to compensate for the extra light. At f11 the 50mm without the speed booster wins at all parts of the image. It eclipses the center sharpness of the speed boosted one and beats the other lenses. The 22mm again doesn't win in sharpness at any part of the image, nor does the 55-250mm at 55mm. at f16+ diffraction ruins the 22mm's sharpness. The 50mm with and without the Viltrox speed booster perform the same. The 55-250mm is about the same as the 50mm. You can use this information to strategically apply lenses where they will work best. I hope this helps someone.
@@jacqodc3644 the 22mm is the better option, in my opinion. You need to manually fix the aberration from the speed booster 50mm combination in post processing while the 22mm is automatically fixed because it's native (as long as you download the profile to your camera or use DPP4 from Canon). Frankly, the only time I'd use the speed boosted 50mm is when I want to get a full-body portrait of someone indoors where I can't back up, but I don't want to get the background in the scene like the wider 22mm would. For portraits in most situations the 50mm with the regular adapter is best. For wider shots the 22mm is the sharpest of all of these listed lenses. The speed boosted 50mm feels out of place because it had such a niche use, but if you have it you get to enjoy particularly sharp centers, although it falls off a lot as you go towards the edges.
This is THE most informative video I have seen on lenses. The fact that you're referencing them against the M50 and M6 mk2 is great, too many youtubers forget that the general public doesn't have 10 - 15K to wax on camera kit. I hope Canon offer you a sponsorship. Thank you.
I recently purchased the M50 with the 15-45mm and 55-200mm in a kit. This video has confirmed my choice of the Sigma 16mm as my next lens. I've never used anything but a point and shoot until now and I'm extremely thankful for your content that has helped me learn the ropes. My favorite gear channel!
I feel like a macro would be my favourite cause where I am in England there's not a lot of traditional wildlife (mammals and reptiles) but I like doing a "micro safari" where I can appreciate the little critters I normally don't notice.
The Canon macro was a good part of why I picked the M6mk2. I’ve done a lot of close up shooting but never with a “real” macro lens. Also, trying to step up from 1” to APS, I didn’t want to give up macro abilities, even if it does mean swapping lenses. Still, I’m really impressed (vs my 35mm film memories) with how close the Canon lenses can get.
Brilliant information thank you. Now after pestering you about cameras and lens for so long (I am sorry), i think i know which camera to buy now lol. You asked for prices where we live about the M50 etc. I live in UK and on Canon site now: Canon EOS M50 in Black, EF-M 15-45mm IS STM, Backpack, SD Card and Spare Battery is £699.99. Camera Body, Black - £539.99 Canon EOS M50 Black, and EF-M 15-45mm IS STM Lens in Black - £649.99 Canon EOS M50 Black and EF-M 18-150mm IS STM £889.99 Canon EF-M 15-45mm f/3.5-6.3 IS STM Lens - Graphite £264-99 Hope this helps and thank you so much for your patience and expertise and all your help. x
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know a trick to get back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my login password. I would love any assistance you can give me
The Canon EF-M 18-150mm is my favorite travel lens. For low light and night photos I use the Canon 32mm 1.4f. This combo keeps my camera gear light yet versatile. Sagi, thanks for showcasing these additional options. Also, can’t wait to hear your reviews of Canon R5 & R6. Sylvia
After searching through the comments for the past several minutes (obviously while on the toilet since that's the best time to do it) I stumbled upon a comment about whether this particular person in question should use the 55-200 lens and another one (I kinda forgot since it wasn't really important). The Tech Gear guy (can't remember his real name) replied by saying that something like the 18-150 lens is super versatile to take out with you for every day use. Hope your curiosity was somewhat fulfilled.
I'm waiting on my Canon m50 (also my first actual camera) to come in the mail, and your videos have been helpful for giving me a head start on familiarizing myself with the camera and the options. Thanks a bunch!

Hi sir can you please make a video on Canon Rebel SL3 best lenses in 2020. I had checked the available video on your channel but it was 1 year ago .. it would be really helpful
Love your videos. I use the kit 15-45mm, the Canon EF 75-300mm with the EF-EFM adaptor, and recently bought the Sigma 30mm. I would say the downside of the 75-300mm is that it weighs more than the body, but it's extremely useful when shooting animals and the image quality is superb. Next, I'd probably get the EF-M 11-22mm for landscape photography, unless someone else makes an EF-M mount wide-angle lens. But I do want the other two Sigma lens, and possibly a macro lens (like the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Macro Art) in the near future.
Here in Germany, if you go on a price comparing site, the difference between the body (518€) and the Kit (549,90€) is 31,90€. However, if you just compare it at amazon, the price difference is 36,66€ The lens itself costs usually 239€, but, one online shop has a special offer for 138,74€. So, with the kit, you can safe enough to buy a good adapter to EF and EF-S for the price of buying Body and Lens separately
Uve been selling a two year old camera in such an amazing and convincing way! I was looking at the xt4 but the m50 now seems cheaper and great for youtube!!
Glad the videos are helpful. The xt4 is amazing - probably my favorite hybrid camera right now. I just like to show what you can do with beginner cameras.
Tech Gear Talk thank u! And u did!! Im actually considering it! Ive been shooting all my youtube content using just gopros! But i believe its time to improve image quality so was looking at a good hybrid! So xt4 but again the portability factor of the m50 and everything u said! Makes sooo much sense
New Zealand here. Just bought m50m2 with kit lens included in box. $1140 was total for camera package alone. After uv filter and bag, total came to $1260NZD or $908USD
Thank you for your review. I’m thinking to buy the 22mm f2 for low lights situations. But what do you think about the 18-150mm ? I already have the kit lens 15-45mm but I’m hesitating to combine it with the 55-200mm or buy the 18-150mm to just have one polyvalent lens.
It has been a year, what did you end up doing? Personally, I went for the 22 and 55-200. I wanted the extra 50mm, and better optical performance (though it’ll probably never make a noticeable difference). 22 for low light, or compactness. If I was traveling and didn’t want to carry extra lenses, though, the 18-150 would be the one.
@@TechGearTalk You're welcome! Your channel has helped me a lot in camera tech gear, especially for Canon M50. I also watched your M50 videos before I decided to get the M50 as my vlogging camera. Please subscribe to my channel, too! Thank you!
having watched more than my fair share of youtube video and photography channels and videos, coming back to listen to you is like a breath of fresh air. Very well thought through. Very comforting presentation style, and I believe every word. Feel really confident about the infor you publish. I think I've decided, Canon will have to be my next camera purchase - either APS-C or Full Frame. Still not sure about the choice of DSLR or Mirrorless - somewhat hard to decide. The pictures in this video are stunning and I almost cannot believe that such photography is possible with an M50, like the photos are way too good to be true. I also love the fact that you do not clog the TH-cam airwaves, with lots of gossip, rumour, and innuendos, or attempts at comedy, which can become irritating and pointless. Just straight to the point, methodical. It would be nice to see you smile. Without being comedic, you are allowed that. An occasional smile. The hallmark of a good video is when you are compelled to listen to it over and over again, as well as bookmark it, cos it really packed a punch. Lots of very useful info. Thanks. Requests 1. If you could do a review of the R5 and R6, I think yours is the one I want to listen to, over and over again, and see the pics and or videos you have taken with these cameras. 2. If you could do a similar video for the Canon or compatible EF mount lenses that can be used on with Canon full frame bodies or R mount bodies, superb. 3. Similar review of EF-S lenses i.e for APSC DSLR from Canon, will be wonderful... 4. Are there adaptors to make EF-M lenses usable on other Canon camera mounts, 5. And same question as above, but for EF-S lenses?
Thank you so much for the feedback. You're RIGHT!!! I need to smile more. 1. doing my best to get one 2. yes 3. th-cam.com/video/UUPqjPs5Iw8/w-d-xo.html 4. No 5. You can adapt Ef and EF-S to EF-M th-cam.com/video/O9hzhFpHEf4/w-d-xo.html Hope that helps. Thanks for being aprt of the channel.
@@TechGearTalk A quick check made me realise that more of your videos are focussed on the more affordable Canon cameras, which I respect and appreciate, Please do not fuss too much about getting hold of an R5 or R6, in order to enable your review. I am not likely to buy one of these higher end cameras, anytime soon. So please do not let my request place you under any undue pressure. I was only curious to see what kind of photos you would take, considering the already more than phenomenal results you get with relatively inexpensive cameras such as the M50. From what you have achieved with an APS-C camera, my current opinion is - Full frame should only become a consideration, only if I start shooting professionally and earn enough to justify the expense, or I simply have extra cash. I am now convinced from your photos, that an APS-C from Canon will be more than adequate for all of my needs.. Credit to your channel for helping me come to this conclusion.
this was an amazing video since I am getting the Canon M50 pretty soon. But, I am going to new york, ad I want to make sure I get the perfect lense. My budget is below 300, max 400. But I want a camera that's amazing at pictures and videos. One that gets amazing photos of the city, that captures mostly everything, that is wide. But not too wide, so I'm still able to get the family in it. But also one that I can zoom in on, and not blur out the background. One that has amazing focus. I know it's a lot, but I want to get the perfect lens. I have four that I chose out of this video. -16mm f 1.4 dc dn from sigma -sigma 56mm f1.4 dc dn -canon ef-m 15-45mm f 14.5-6.3 15 stm -11-22 f4 to 5.6 IS And if you have anything that can take really fast pictures that would be great! That way if I want to get a scene of someone facing on the street, I can get it :) thank you so much!
I just received the M50, excited to get started with it all. Your video I reference often lol soo much to absorb.I enjoy listening to you, your style & knowledge is soo appreciated!
@@TechGearTalk , I have been a Cannon user for years after watching your comparison on the M50 and Sony 6000 series I went with my first Sony ever a6100 and love it , So yea Sony lens's next please! Love your reviews!
I use the 22mm f2 with my M100 most of the time. Love it. I already had some EF-S lenses, so I bought an adapter off eBay and use it with a 50mm 1.8 and 35mm 2.8 macro. It makes it a little heavier than the 28mm macro would be, but still works really well. Great video!
For an all-around lens, I prefer the 22mm. It’s so compact and sharp. The 50 on the adapter is going to give you more of a short telephoto/portrait lens. Depends what kind if images you want.
@@TravisBlue1 thank you and in your opinion in low light adapter+lens 50mm can negative efect than just lense 22 mm? which lense is better in low light?
To answer your question: In England the M50 body is £500 (around $627) and the M50 with the kit lense is £630 (around $790). (Both on Amazon). I don't know why getting the lense is an extra £130 but I'm sure there are better deals.
Interesting. I think it's still the right move, but I wonder why in the US the price difference is so much closer when you get them together. Thanks for the info!
In Belgium where I live, you can buy the body for 519 euros and when you buy the starter kit with the 15-45 lens it's only 30 euros more (€ 549). If you buy the lens separately it costs around 170-190 euros.
@@TobiasYoung so true, lights and a set are crucial. There are videos on photography sets for food on TH-cam, that give lots of light and a controlled environment. That said I think a 50mm f1.8 with an adapter would be my first choice, that isn’t too expensive
I'm using an adapter to use my 40 year old Minolta MD lens, 50mm Macro 1:3.5 and 70 to 210mm zoom and what's cool about them is the M50's peaking works with them. Also have the 2.0 22mm pancake .
I agree! My favorite is the Sigma 16mm 1.4/f as well. I constantly revert to that lens as I find it so useful, especially in low light areas. I have the 56mm Sigma as well, but I find that I don’t use it as much as the 16mm.
I'm getting a headache for weeks getting all my stuff together. I'm getting into being a TH-camr pretty soon. it's hard to find what you really need as a beginner. thank you!!
i have the 22mm and the 18-150mm is ef-m for my M50 and two adapters for my ef lenses .. i love the M-50 for a walk around camera when i don't want to carry my full frame. very well shot and produced video . thank you
I watched this video even though i dont plan on ever owning a canon, your sony videos are great, you're just a good presenter and I never clicked away. I appreciate the bloopers, thanks, nice to know we all screw up haha.
Hello, The lens I use most on the M50 is probably the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Art Macro, a very good macro lens that doesn't cost too much (less than 500€) and that is also good for portrait. The 28mm macro lens you present here is probably a good lens but 28mm very short for insects, even on an APS-C camera. 70mm is far more confortable.
If you had to pic only two lenses to use with the M50 to take photos of places like the Norwegian mountain range Jotunheimen what would you pick?. Thinking about its great views and nature.
You missed the EF-M 18-150mm :-( My Favotire 4 lenses in order of usage are: 1) EF-M 11-22mm (80% of my photos are taken with this lense), 2) Rokinon 12mm f2.0 fully manual (night photography), 3) EF-M 18-150mm, and 4) EF-M 22mm. I replaced my EF-M 18-55mm with the EF-M 18-150mm, and rarely use my EF-M 55-200mm. I started with the EOS M, then moved to the M3 (occassionaly using an EVF), and am now using an EOS M6, and prefer the form factors of these bodies versus the EOS M5 / M50. Thanks for your great video - off to watch your Zhiyun M2 gimbal video - a gimbal is the next accessory on my list :-)
I know - the 18-150 (mentioned at the end) is what I would use if I only had one lens. Hope you enjoyed the m2 video. Thanks for being part of the channel!
I have the 22mm and 55-200mm and I have the pancake lens 95% of the time and is good for food photography and architectural photos. I never use the kit lens anymore. Great video!
Thanks so much. I rely on you for alll needed info for my M50 which I bought based on your previous review. It has made my life as a TH-camr much easier than if I had bought something blindly!
great M50 Video as usual! I just bought an M50 a couple months ago and I'm looking to get a new lens. I already have the 15-45mm kit lens. I think the bloopers at the end are a good idea...it's a good thing to get the viewer to laugh, even on serious videos.
Just got my first real camera, it came with the stock lens. Thanks for all the info, it’s way over my head at this point but when I’m ready to expand I’ve saved your video thanks!
I really enjoyed this video. I just bought an M50 as an upgrade for my old T5, and I am going to pick up the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 for the marketing photos of my dress store, the Canon 22mm f/2 for my youtube music videos, and just use the kit lens for everyday use. I also have a couple of nice telephoto lenses from my T5 that I will be using as well. This helped a lot!
Your videos are longer but I always prefer to watch your video before buying anything. I don't know why but God has gifted you with such a precise and valuable information to share. Saw your review on Canon M6 and immediately bought it and pretty happy with my decision, my next video is going to be shot on that. Got the kit lens 18-55mm but also looking for other budget for more depth of field. Happy to be your subscriber, I'm an aspiring filmmaker.
Thanks for these amazing videos. i just got myself an M50 for music videos but don't know which lens to go for and also if i'll need an adapter or speed booster, please give me an advise on what to choose. thanks.
In case Sagi doesn't see this, I'd say stick with the 15-45 kit lens if it came with the camera. It may be all you need. The 11-22 wide angle would also be a good choice. Unless you have a big budget, avoid going crazy on lenses and pick up a decent external microphone. Good luck and have fun! 😎
I’m kind of low on budget so I guess 200D is the winner here! I dont have to buy an adapter to use the cheap/good lenses and better variety of lenses which will suit me later on! You don’t know how much happy I’m now! God bless you brother ❤️
Tech Gear Talk After watching alot of revisions about the m50 I found out that it’s mostly used for vlogging , I’m more into photos and I chose sl2 because it has a decent batter life and better grip and I’m not planning to buy any accessories until I finish my education then I’ll have time to work with it! Also it didnt have some features that I wont need like 4k and others and its cheaper so thats A win!
Good information! I’m using the kit 15-45, 32 and Sigma 56mm. Also EF 100mm macro and EFs 55-250. I owned the EFm telephoto too but it’s not sharp at 200mm wide open. The EFs is also very lightweight, have more reach and it’s sharper at telephoto end. The EF Macro is working very well with crop sensor but nothing for a walk. So I’m searching for good price getting the EFm 28mm. All in all my most surprising lens are the 15-45 and 32mm. The kit lens can be very good and lightweight but I owned also some with soft corners. So it’s aluck to get a very good example. Also with my new M6II it’s working very well with these lens and the sharpness is fine. The 32mm is stunning. It’s worth to spend more money then the Sigma. It’s lightweight, absolutely perfect picture quality and also working very well for some macro work (cropping with the M6II!). The only thing is the slow AF compared to sigma. My sigma 56 is perfect for moving targets. I’m shooting roadbike portraits and it’s working fine with the AF speed and sharpness wide open, also it’s have very well controlled CAs! The EFm lineup is good and I’m hopping for more to come.
My "desert island camera" is my Leica M10, with a 1979 Leitz Canada 50mm f/2 Summicron-M. But I do have a need for a system for real estate photography and possibly some video. When they're back in stock, I'll use your affiliate link to order the M50 body. For lenses, the 11-22. Also, because I love macro, the 28mm macro is a must. Generally, I prefer at least 90mm on a macro. But I did once own and enjoy the 60mm Micro-Nikkor. The 28mm Canon's built-in ring light is a big attraction by itself, but the ability to activate either side independently--oh, yes! In SE Asia last year, I shot a lot of close-ups with a 40mm Zeiss Batis on a Sony a9. Thanks for the reviews and tips!
In Finland it currently is 44 € but there more often are special offers for kits so it could be smaller. When I bought I considered the body only as I already had 11-22 and 18-55 but I like the 15-45 mm. It is so small. Somehow I wish I had not gotten the 11-22 mm, would be less to carry but I will not give it up. I like the fact that on EF-M all zooms have IS. On DSLRs there are same bodies sold with and without IS lens.It is very confusing to give advice. If you shot 4K the 11-22 mm is also nice because of the total of 2.5x crop so it gives you 28 mm equivalence horizontally. The kit gives only 38 mm.
Thank you for your tips. Bought the M50 ii this week, to become my new dive camera (housing is still on it's way). But I ordered the Sigma 56 1.4 the next day, and it is probably the sharpest lens that I had in a long time, like the Canon 50mm 1.4 on the FD mount on my old AE-1P
From this video, i only need kit lens to start. Would definitely consider EFM 11-22 for wider shots and 55-200 for closeup shots in future. Thnx, appreciate the video.
Wonderful video! I got the M50 with the help of your advice and I haven’t regretted it. It’s main purpose is for travel and I always have the 22mm, 32mm and 55-200mm in my bag. They are compact and fit in the small camera bag I take on trips. All that and I can still go carry on only.
Tbh for film making, get the Meike 35mm f/1.7 or 1.4. It’s an all manual lens however, I’ve gotten great results out of it and it’s only a $70-$100 lens.some of the lenses on this list I do agree are great options if you got the money.(manly the prime and telephoto lenses)
My favourite Canon Lens for my M50 is the 18 - 150mm IS. It is a bit awkward to carry around but well worth the convenience of having such a wide range without changing lenses. I carried it everywhere on my recent trip to Australia and it was well worth the effort. If like me you want to capture whatever turns up and not miss the shot messing with lenses then the 18 - 150 is the lens for you.
Super good call Chris! It’s definitely an amazing option because of its versatility! Thank you for contributing using and for being part of the channel!
I got the Sigma 30mm to supplement the kit lens and it's a game-changer for M50 indeed. What I really would love to see is an ultrawide prime strictly for vlogging with EF-M mount
@@TechGearTalk 16mm is hardly ultrawide ;) for typical vlogging when one holds a camera in front of oneself and walks&talks, this would be too narrow. I guess the 11-22 is decent but a bit slow. There's also a Tokina 9mm with EF-M mount and it's a rectalinear lens at f/2.8 so it would be really nice for ultrawide vlogging - need to check it out.
Just some feedback (since I already have the 16). I easily used it handheld with no issues. You can see it in the detailed review of the 3 Sigma lenses if you're interested. Good luck!
Great video , really valuable info for M50 , there are a lot of guys like me who look forward to videos like these for our M50 , keep it coming. We value these video. Appreciate you putting it together
I haven't bought any M mount lenses since I still have all my older EF and EFS lenses from my T3, so I just bought the adapter and the speed booster that only mounts EF. I love my EF 75-300mm USM, I took some moon photos with it and they turned out surprisingly good. Though my absolutely favorite lens is my EFS 17-85mm 1:4-5.6 IS USM but it's old and damaged, the zoom gets stuck around 60mm when retracting and the AF has issues choosing what to focus on so I learned to go manual on it.
15-45mm IS STM is on Finland around 300€, but you can get kit in c. 600€. I got my kit witch includes M50, 15-45mm and 55-200mm IS STM 599€ witch was a steal bargain. That Sigma EF-M 16mm got attention, would Be good when doing urban exploring.
Wow, that is a great deal on the body and the two lenses!!! Appreciate you sharing. Yes, the 16mm is a perfect lens for urban exploration! Thanks for being part of the channel!
Hi!! First, very good video, but i have a question: it is better to buy lens from m mount, or just buying an adapter for the other mounts? I want an affordable telephoto for my M50, and i dont know if it's better to buy a 55-200 or a 55-250 with an adapter, because they both cost almost the same, but i suppose the 250 has more range and i think it may be better, but im just a beginner, so since i know u usually answer the questions on the comment box, please tell me which one is a better option. Thank u
The 55-200 is smaller and lighter. The 55-250 is a bit faster at the telephoto end, and has more reach. Do you need the extra 50mm for say, wildlife shots? If so, get the longer lens and adapt it. They're both good lenses for beginners.
It really depends on the types of shots you're trying to get. I would always start with the kit lens because of th-cam.com/video/z-x-d-K9Jfw/w-d-xo.html then figure out if you want more zoom, macro, shallower depth of field, etc.
I recently purchased an m50 with the kit lens (refurbished from canon to save $$$) and the first lens I bought was the macro. I love it! but the light is not exactly great. I usually don't like the way pictures turn out with the LED on. Next I think I need a telephoto lens so I can get those far away shots.
Hello Sagi. I've only had the M50 for two weeks, but in VERY brief testing I'm liking what I'm seeing from the full-frame EF 135mm F/2 lens adapted with the Canon EOS M2 adapter or Viltrox speed booster. The 135 is tremendous on FF for portraiture and stage, and it's so extremely sharp with wonderful micro-contrast that it makes photos that are very pleasantly croppable. Which means that on FF it gives me the equivalent of a 300mm F/2 (480mm F/2 on M50? Yikes!). I'm looking forward to further exploring what the 135 can do on the M50. I realize it's an "exotic," one of those lenses that yield results so very pretty that you might not use it often but you adore it when you do. I bought the M50 largely because of your enthusiasm and have not been disappointed. Am finding it exceeds expectations for video. I used it to shoot two events handheld, the first with "mobile" tripod, the second with a Sirui monopod - both worked well, but the Zhiyun Crane is looking tempting. I also use a Segway MiniPro for video - "ride and gun" for lots of fun, but not best in tight spaces or on rough terrain. Thank you again for these very helpful videos. P.S. I got the EF-S 10-18 and LOVE it for video - it's wonderful for capturing people close-up while including some of the surroundings; also for shooting in tight spaces, e.g., indoors. P.P.S. Audio is suprisingly "not too bad" on the M50! Good to know when I'm too lazy to attach external recorder and sync audio in post, or just want to travel light. That said, the M50 with Sony PCM-M10 handheld recorder mounted on top is cute! :-) (The long-discontinued M10 is phenomenal - audio pros love it. Price is still ~$230 on Ebay.)
Appreciate all the insight my friend 🙏 Another option is the Comica Audio amzn.to/2Ccb22v or the rode wireless go! (still super small and great audio!)
Thank you, Sagi. The Rode Wireless Go is extremely attractive, though I'm a bit tapped-out at present, having spent all of my discretionary funds on the M50 and gear. I do have the use of a pro recorder, the Sound Devices MixPre 6 II, and will undoubtedly record external audio with it for the M50 at some point. We bought the MixPre with a fundraiser, as it will be used to record events for several non-profit Sangha, school and community organizations, otherwise it would have been too rich for my blood. For wireless audio I have a VERY old (late 1990s) small Sony hookup that works pretty well but will need to be upgraded someday. BTW, non-profit work is extremely fun and rewarding and has an uncanny way of bringing income in through the back door. Also, working with a loose aggregation of like-minded seekers is tremendous. But, I'll stop blabbing. Thanks again!
In Slovakia body is around 490€, with kit lens 620-650€. I have found a great deal which was body + kit lens + ef-m adapter for 640€ after a 30€ canon's cashback.
Really nice to see that Ross from Friends got a tan, and knows everything about cameras.

@Tech Gear Talk what camera and lense are you using in this video? I'm looking for the background blur that you have and how far is your camera from you? Because I want people to see my desk in my vlog
This was really helpful, I've watched endless videos on lenses for the m50 and this was the best one!
So glad to hear that it was helpful. Thank you for the kind words and for being part of the channel!
Bro I got a 50mm lens, should I buy the speedbooster to compensante or buy the 22mm lens?
@@bodinian Thx for the info, you're a beast !!
This is THE most informative video I have seen on lenses. The fact that you're referencing them against the M50 and M6 mk2 is great, too many youtubers forget that the general public doesn't have 10 - 15K to wax on camera kit. I hope Canon offer you a sponsorship. Thank you.
Glad some of you are still putting out work for the canon m50. I’m definitely trying to get better with my photography and video for my vlogs.
I'm excited to hear that it's being valuable. I've got so much more coming!
@@TechGearTalk Thank goodness. Loving the m50 content!
May I know what lens u use to get great photos?
I recently purchased the M50 with the 15-45mm and 55-200mm in a kit. This video has confirmed my choice of the Sigma 16mm as my next lens. I've never used anything but a point and shoot until now and I'm extremely thankful for your content that has helped me learn the ropes. My favorite gear channel!
Congrats on the setup you already have! I absolutely love the 16mm! Thank you so much for the kind words and for being part of the channel!

Just because of your videos, i am going to buy M50 as my first camera and as a profession of photography.
Glad I'm able to help! Best of luck with your new venture!
I feel like a macro would be my favourite cause where I am in England there's not a lot of traditional wildlife (mammals and reptiles) but I like doing a "micro safari" where I can appreciate the little critters I normally don't notice.
That's good perspective Noah! Once you start exploring macro - a whole new world opens
Thanks
Glad it was helpful. Thank you for being part of the channel!
It’s great to finally see canon, sigma, and viltrox teaming up to make amazing lenses for the ef-m lens mount!
Brilliant information thank you. Now after pestering you about cameras and lens for so long (I am sorry), i think i know which camera to buy now lol. You asked for prices where we live about the M50 etc. I live in UK and on Canon site now:

I find my favourite is the 11-22mm
It’s the one I keep on the body, as it’s super sharp and has a similar FOV to a smart phone.
Sylvia
Appreciate the input - that's a great combo! I can't wait to get my hands on those 2. Thank you for being aprt of the channel Sylvia!
Hi, what is the metal grip casing you are using during the sigma review?(around 8:09) Thank you!
Why wasn’t the Canon EF-M 18-150mm mentioned? It is my favorite EF-M lens and it is the most versatile.
Hi sir can you please make a video on Canon Rebel SL3 best lenses in 2020. I had checked the available video on your channel but it was 1 year ago .. it would be really helpful
I can only get my m50 to shoot 21 megapixels. Do you have to shoot in raw to get the full 24 megapixels?
Your video are very helpfull for biginer photographer and videographer.. You explain very well... And Good quality video..... Love from india
However, if you just compare it at amazon, the price difference is 36,66€
The lens itself costs usually 239€, but, one online shop has a special offer for 138,74€.
Tech Gear Talk although could u do a review on the sony zv1😁
3:15 in Cambodia, it costs 569$ with the kit lens (15 - 45mm) in 2019.
Thank you for the info! Appreciate you being part of the channel!

having watched more than my fair share of youtube video and photography channels and videos, coming back to listen to you is like a breath of fresh air.
Thanks.

-16mm f 1.4 dc dn from sigma
-sigma 56mm f1.4 dc dn
-canon ef-m 15-45mm f 14.5-6.3 15 stm
-11-22 f4 to 5.6 IS

Nice Travis! Appreciate you sharing all the info. Thanks for the support!
which one is better?22mm f2 or 50 1.8 with adapter??
For an all-around lens, I prefer the 22mm. It’s so compact and sharp. The 50 on the adapter is going to give you more of a short telephoto/portrait lens. Depends what kind if images you want.
@@TravisBlue1 thank you and in your opinion in low light adapter+lens 50mm can negative efect than just lense 22 mm? which lense is better in low light?
It’s pretty close. You get like a third of a stop more with the 1.8. So, the 50 by just a bit.

Sigma Best Lens as Always including the Cinema Lens Lineup fo Fast Speed Capture
I'm going to buy the m50 mark ii today and I also wanna add the 55-200 mm with it
So clear and precise. Very well made videos. Thanks for all the work it takes.
Hello,
The lens I use most on the M50 is probably the Sigma 70mm f/2.8 DG Art Macro, a very good macro lens that doesn't cost too much (less than 500€) and that is also good for portrait.
Loaded Kit and 11-22, heading to Sigma 30 F1.4, so exciting!
I have the 22mm and 55-200mm and I have the pancake lens 95% of the time and is good for food photography and architectural photos. I never use the kit lens anymore. Great video!
Appreciate you sharing!
I plan to add the macro lens to my kit, but already have a full range of EF, EFs and EF L glass.
I use my 100mm 2.8 with the adapter on the M50
@@TechGearTalk ... 200mm f2.8 L and 35-350mm L here.
nice!
Thank you for the kind words and for the feedback regarding the bloopers - super appreciated 🙏
Just got my first real camera, it came with the stock lens. Thanks for all the info, it’s way over my head at this point but when I’m ready to expand I’ve saved your video thanks!
Congrats!!! Glad it was helpful. I always recommend the stock (kit) lens because of: th-cam.com/video/z-x-d-K9Jfw/w-d-xo.html
Just bought the M50 with the kit lens. Definitely have my eye on the Sigma 56 and the Canon 55-200.
CONGRATS Ethan!!! Hope the video was helpful and thanks for being part of the channel!
I’m super glad I could help. Thank you for the kind words.
The 200D is a great option for sure - glad I've been able to help!
Thank you! One little more question, if focus point are important should I consider getting sl3 ? 9 points seem a little compared to the M50
If you're using it for photos, I like the M50. If you're using it for video, the SL2 or SL3 will work just fine (because they also use dual pixel af).
Perfect! Glad you found something you love!
Thank you so much for taking the time to share with the community! Appreciate you!
Canon FD 50mm F1.4 from 1971. Cant find a speedbooster for adapting Fd to eosM, so I have one great lens for portraits... I love it sooo much^^
In Finland it currently is 44 € but there more often are special offers for kits so it could be smaller.
Wonderful info - thank you so much for sharing 🙏
The 32mm and 56mm, for sure. The 32mm for food photography and the 56mm for portraits ☺️
That’s 2 wins
So glad I was able to help. That is a fantastic setup - super complimentary setup.
Great video! I bought my Canon M50 Travel kit for 599 Euro here in Germany. Comes with the kit lens, travel bag, 16 GB memory card!
Congrats!!
I just bought an m50 last week and I just need an 11-22mm and that 55-200 mm and i think I’ll be set.
Hi there. Appreciate you sharing. Do you need more than the 16mm? I feel like wider than that could introduce a ton of distortion.
I'm so glad I am able to help. Thank you for the support!
Thank you so much for sharing your process - thank you for contributing to the community!
Its a cool tempered and intimate review at the same time on the subject I just needed closed. Thanks!
I mostly use my EF and EFS lenses on the M50. With the use of an adapter.
That's great Charles! Appreciate you sharing
@@TechGearTalk I also have a number of M lenses but prefer using the EF and EFS with the different adapters.
It’s definitely a powerful option.
Great videos which would be best for shooting golf footage
It really depends on the types of shots you're trying to get. I would always start with the kit lens because of th-cam.com/video/z-x-d-K9Jfw/w-d-xo.html then figure out if you want more zoom, macro, shallower depth of field, etc.
Tech Gear Talk thanks so much. Your content is so helpful and clearly explained. I’m
New to all this 👍🏻
Wow, lots of gorgeous shots of CLE. Love love love it!
LED?
@@humansrants1694 the macro lens has two LEDs in the front of the lens
I use that LED only in certain situations and as fill light.
Appreciate all the insight my friend 🙏
Another option is the Comica Audio amzn.to/2Ccb22v or the rode wireless go!
Appreciate you sharing some of your story 🙏
In Slovakia body is around 490€, with kit lens 620-650€. I have found a great deal which was body + kit lens + ef-m adapter for 640€ after a 30€ canon's cashback.
Thank you so much for sharing 🙏 Appreciate you being part of the channel!
Great video. Any recommendations for food photography?
thankyou for the info, I'm interested in the m50 mark 2
Shooting weddings now & starting a travel blog. What lenses would you recommend
thanks for the info..recently i watch ur vid most for lense details
