I especially appreciate seeing the U-Pol Blend#9 Fade Out Reducer.
You are a very good teacher. Keep the videos coming. I do resto work, so blending clear is something I never do, but I did get some useful tips like the wetting with alcohol.
👊I appreciate the comment and support brother!
Svaka čast majstore što u detalje sve objasniš! Radiš vrhunski!
👍
An excellent repair on the silver tractor trailer truck. Thank you so much for your teaching!!!🥰
You bet!
Great job i always learn from your videos ive been a moble dealership bumper and touch up guy as well as interior trim for about 30 years. This is exactly how its done, prep is key. We do it in the wind freezing cold and heat super stressful in the elements lol
Right on, I did mobile paint repair when I first arrived in Tulsa about 15 years ago.
@GarageNoise that's cool buddy Iwata lph 80, 8 gal compressor with a lithium battery for the win out there
I get those runs in the solovent blender here and there highly annoying. I find in colder weather hold the can way back and "fog" The clear coat blend zone with it vs spraying it direct. Helps big time.
Awesome repair tho man you killed it!!!
👍
Thanks for sharing your knowledge on this type of work Chris as I find this content very interesting especially the way you explain everything in great detail, superb result on the repair and it goes to show you don't always need 30psi for every paint job👏🙏👍John UK
Another good job. I’ve watched enough of your like videos that I can predict your process I just need to develop a touch and eye for sanding.
Awesome! I appreciate the comment and support!
This is a great presentation. I’m going to do something very similar on a bumper since it will not have direct UV and would be very time intensive to paint the whole thing. Thanks for the addl tips like the alcohol trick, mixing ratios, and always describing the gun settings.
Another great clip to the inside on how to do it wish you were in syd
👊
Awesome job
Thanks!
Love it 💪🏽💪🏽👌🏾
Nice presentation . Great demo!
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice colour match.
Thank you 😊
Very good mate from Kiwi

Obsessed with your channel now!!! 😊
Welcome!! Appreciate the comment and support!
I love that fc 710 that stuff blends better than any clear ive ever used like the video
Thanks!
Welcome!
As a professional automotive painter for over 20 years to be honest blending clear is not a good idea for a quality lasting repair and that's why no paint manufacturer will warranty their clear if it's been blended, I get why you would do it as I was very good at it, but the only time I would use a blended edge is on say a windshield post or other small area to keep from having to clear a complete roof as many times an insurance company will not pay for the extra cost but if possible always clear a complete panel such as a door, fender, decklid or hood, your large flat panels such as a hood will have a tendency over time to expose your blend edge from sun and weather exposure because to blend clear your making it very thin causing loss of adhesion, I will say that blending is a skill every painter should master as early as possible as color blending is used in almost every repair.
The only time I blend clear is on a bumper and only if It a freebie or I communicate with the customer what to expect. It's always better to paint the entire panel. I don't like blending A pillars , because the sun will destroy the blend and it will be visible . It is a useful technique for hobbiest or in certain situations tho.
Great reply, makes a lot of sense. Im curious how you sell a job like this. Do you give them a price to redo the bumper the "right" way and a cheaper price for a clear blend like this? Of course this doesn't apply if it was just a freebie for the customer @@GarageNoise
Awesome video! the link to the 3m paint mask is broken. Do you happen to know the specs of that mask?
About to start getting everything ready and set up to paint my vehicle in my garage. I have a filter for my gun but heard it's best to have another form of filtration. I really can't find videos of how to go about this process and was wondering what kind of filter set you use if any. Thanks
I sprayed single stage inside a fender and got a few runs. I sanded them out and I’m going to spray that area over again. I have some 1k blender can I use it on the edges to blend the old and new single stage?
Thanks
Rob
I have to do a similar work. Grooves on the roof of my Mustang 2017. Paint peels off from the bottom of these grooves for unknown reason. Clear coat peals with base to the primer. Is it possible to do it only with spray cans?. How to blend it properly on the edges of these grooves? On the top or on the center of these edges? Base in the same spot as clear or not? These grooves are very narrow, about 5mm.
Excellent tutorial! Thank you. Are you in SoCal? If so, I’d like to bring in my Tacoma.
Thank's! In Oklahoma. 😁
Where did you get your pump sprayer?
Can you blend Acrylic lacquer into 2k clear using this product?
Love your videos, do you dilute the isopropyl alcohol any for use on car? And I sprayed my 2008 toyota avalon for a repair first one. Color looked good nice metallic the first time, but I made the mistake of not going all the way to body lines and had lines. Tried to sand and feather but paint came out darker and less metallic! I have to redo in spring😢😂 first paint job boy did I learn a lot!
Sounds like you did great! This is what it's all about putting knowledge into practice and learning from the experience. I don't dilute my isopropyl alchol. Appreciate the comment and support!
Hi Chris, Really good video Brother! A favor to ask. You mentioned you were going to paint the hood on the Jeep. Any thoughts on filming that? Thanks! Dan
Video will be up this weekend brother!
Hey Chris, I need some advice on some paint work my grandfather and I are doing on our boat. We layed down the high build primer then sanded and prepped for paint, then layed down the base coat and followed up with the clear coat after it cured. Now the we’re running into is the clear is really hazy even after wet sanding and using compound. It’s an aluminum boat and the paint is custom matched acrylic spray paint, did we screw something up or is it from something else?
Hard to say, but I have a couple questions. what clearcoat did you use? Is the clear cured? And how long did you wait between coats of clear?
After you use the icing are you using 180 then 320? Also for the primer are you using 1.7 nozzle?
You can use 180 to cut the icing but you want to refine those scratches with 320 before primer. I use a 1.5 tip for primer but I use my primer as a primer surfacer so it's not real thick. If your spraying primer as a high build you may need a 1.7
Appreciate your comment and support!
Thanks for the tip! I’m mainly learning bumper repair for my job, for plastic bumpers you think a 1.5 and primer surfacer is best? Also as a video idea: “cold weather spraying”
If the base doesn't have metallic, 16:25 do I have to do a drop coat
Not typically with a solid color but there are exceptions, like some of these pastel colors and nardo greys.
U don't add thinner to the clear why
I never saw the need too. You could add some if your having trouble with peel. My thought has always beed it may compromise the clears durability, that's probly not the case ,but just never saw the need.
Do you have any videos on how to repair paint bubbles please. ?
Hi
Do you have, paint reaction video on car
Pain reaction repair video?
Nothing on paint bubbles, I need to make one on different reactions. Bubbles when you apply basecoar? If so thats generally moisture in your air supply.
@@GarageNoise yeah bought a car recently and it has a new base coat paint. but the pervious painter had painted it outside on a rainy day. now there are couple of paint bubbles. i need to know if i can fix those before applying clear coat and polishing.
You'll sand those out with 800 or a fine sandpaper and apply another coat of base
I tried to do that blend last time…. Do you know why the blender run and the color was black color….. the clear coat that I used was Upol and the blender was transtar….
I applied it to heavy, that's why it ran.
Have you ever used urechem intercoat clear to paint flames/graphics on before final clear, or as a "flowcoat" A gallon of dbc500 is $400.
I used clear basecoat when laying down graphics or flames to protect it. I believe it's the same. Intercoat clear is typically just clear basecoat. It's not actually clear coat.
@@GarageNoiseThank you
Love your videos brother…all the trolls👆… keep your professional opinions to yourself if your a professional why watch another paint auto body technician…😂
Appreciate the support! Trolls have they're own way of doing things. That's ok but I've developed my procedures from my experience and I do change things if I find a better process.
I see you didn’t use an adhesion promoter, was it unnecessary for this type of repair?
Unnecessary for a bumper that's been painted or primed. Only need it on raw plastic. Appreciate your comment and support!
Thanks for the reply. You’re a godsend to us diyers, thanks!
Instead of the foam tape and you use regular tape that’s folded in the way ? Again Thanks, Steve
Second question. Are you going to video the fender and hood project ? I also have a jeep like yours. My hood has a dent in the middle of the drivers side about the side of a quarter and about quarter inch deep. So i wanted to see the hood project . Thanks, Steve
Would Spray Max Spot Blender be used the same as the Upol Blend ? Thanks, Steve
Chris, can Dm you?
