- Anyone that's watched the channel for a while knows how much I love the Superformance MkIII Cobra R with the Roush 427 until now...having shot with our friend Vinny (VinGIGGS) and his Cobra R with that glorious high revving 5.2 Aluminator engine my mind has been reset to this as the perfect power plant. Makes plenty of torque but not enough to make it sketchy down low then revs to 8200 rpm's which is simply intoxicating!! This is our 2nd episode with Vinny and we're going to make it a quarterly trip to Mooresville, NC to shoot a lot more with him so sit back and enjoy the ride...

The world needs more high revving V8s
Yes it does!
I love this guy! His face having so much fun as a passenger in his own hot rod
Agree! Very nice dude.
Yup that 5.2 is the motor for that car. Killer sound and revs to the moon. Much more linear power for that car, which Caroll Shelby would have loved. Killer build, wow
agree...Im an na carb guy but this engine is perfect for that car....revs, not heavy reliable a d good power. You can tell in the vid it isnt geared crazy low and still pulls like crazy .Love it
That engine redefines what a modern Cobra should be all about, it should be a standard fit!
A 30 sidewall is the percentage of the width. So the wider the tire the taller the sidewall will be even if it's a 30 series. So 30% of a 335 width is pretty beefy.
Exactly what I wanted to write now 😅.
Was just watching if someone already answered 👍
It's actually an aspect ratio, not a percentage.
@@greebuhactually it represents a percentage. It's the percentage of the width. They call it the aspect ratio. Look it up.
I can't believe this guy doesn't seem to know that. TH-cam's car creators annoy me sometimes...
@@immikeurnot I agree. That's like entry-level knowledge LOL
From one car guy to another, congratulations Vinny, between your cars and that garage, you are living the dream and we are all living vicariously through you.
Well said…and he’s such a good guy!

@@Justin-bz1dpI see that you may have had a stroke. I was going to do you a solid and call that number you're supposed to call when people need a wambalance but apparently I've forgotten it. Since you're now laying in the floor drooling on yourself with half of your body vibrating I would imagine you're starting to feel better. I figured I should let you know that your wife was trying to go with me when I was leaving. I told her no because I didn't need a sammich maker or a dishwasher and that's about the only purpose that poor little braindead creature is suited for. Peace out homie! I'm sorry about your stroke but I hope you enjoyed the story I wrote for you. I was very bored and your comment stirred the writer in me.
Exactly!!
ez there big fella.
you guys are easily the best Car Pr0n page on YT by a mile in the last 5 years, your shots, angles, follow shots, audio/mic capture etc...is second to none. Really glad you guys are getting the following/recognition you deserve.
Dude for real!
Shutting up and letting the car noises speak is something very few car content presenters ever do. They always claim it's a "NASCAR crank up the volume lap" or "F1 onboard something" while David douchnozzle croft chatters incessantly over the top of the car noises.
So, I agree. Wholeheartedly. The world needs to understand us car people, car guys, car gals, were a bit mental. Well listen to car noises, with zero commentary, no driver radio explaining what the technique is for the corner they are at.
Just USA brand "The Song Of Our People" hotrod bliss. Especially a 8200rpm V8, naturally aspirated especially!
Look at the response the Garage56 LeMans Camaro got! People who wanted to hate on it couldn't help themselves but respect the brutality of the engine note. Hell yeah brother, that's a Texas sized Sheeew Buddy, son!
😂😂

I remember when the web was fun.
@@gordocarbo i dont mean being a hater/on the web...i mean some ppl have stigma about what style/rims/flared fenders/welded on sheet metal etc....they each/all have their own "how it should be" or what they consider "done right" these types often give their 2 cents about it too...with no hesitation...to me it just discounts their awareness to the whole equation/man hours/labor time it took to earn that cash/hard work to earn a build someone would consider ideal for themselves. Thats the essence of being a hater...just genuinely lacking that empathy/scope to see the bigger picture bc its always "how i see it, how id do it" me me me type folks. Those folks just need to do some thinking/the math on how blessed we really are and its all it comes down to
I'm lost for words to describe how much I love this car.
Love that color. The old Cobras are my all time favorite "hot rods".
My Superformance MKIII was setup by Dennis Olthoff and also has underbody side exit exhaust. I did not like the R when I first saw it but it is growing on me. Great video!
That one little roll bar isn’t gonna do much if she gets away on you and the bad stuff happens. I think I would want a full cage and harness in a little beast like that! Love that liquid blue 👍
😂
Safety first 👍🏼
Damn, you've been cranking some sick ass builds, mad props to everyone and enjoy the 4th July
Happy 4th dude!
@@VINGIGGSyou too
Nice and that color was fire
Vinny seems like he loves the thrill :-)....... infectious !
I found your channel because of VINGIGGS 🤪
That Shelby GT500 Super Snake in the back is one of my top 3 favorite cars in the world... Who's the builder, Revology??
Nope and you're gonna have to wait to find out 🤫
@@VINGIGGS please make a video on it dude its a dream car of mine 😭😂
I do Aerospace and Defense work in LA, tired of the "hustle n bustle" as @VinGIGGS stated. Bout time to move to NC and start my collection w/my GT350 in tow. Car's amazing Vinny!
Do it!!!! Thank you❤
Yep….just yep! 👍
CORRECTION TO COMMENTS BELOW: Engine is NOT a donor from at GT350, it is direct from Ford Racing as a purpose built crate engine: "Ford Performance has taken the technology and hardware developed for the Shelby GT350 and has created the ultimate naturally aspirated, 5.2L cross-plane crankshaft crate engine. With a rating of 580 horsepower, the new Aluminator 5.2 XS is the most powerful naturally aspirated modular crate engine ever built by Ford Performance. Every Aluminator is hand assembled by the same technicians that build the Mustang Cobra Jet drag racing engines. Premium aftermarket components are used to ensure durability, like; unique Manley® connecting rods, ARP® rod bolts, Mahle® forged pistons, forged steel crankshaft sprocket, and billet oil pump gears. Unique components developed specifically for the Cobra Jet racing program are used including Cobra Jet short runner-high RPM intake manifold, 1517 CFM dual 65mm Cobra Jet throttle body, and high RPM pulse ring. Ford Performance Engineers developed a balanced combination of high end, 580 horsepower and strong mid-range torque with the Cobra Jet intake manifold, unique camshafts and fully CNC ported GT350 cylinder heads".
Come to the Dragon, while you're here head down the Cherohala Skyway and then drive an hour to the Devils triangle
I would not take that car on Tail of the Dragon.
Never get out of first gear on the dragon
Not a ford guy but Cobra's are special. I would happily own one of these. This car and engine is so cool . Thank you British AC roadster and Carol Shelby for starting it all and thank you those who developed the car further in modern times to create this beautiful road weapon.
Agree..obsessed 1 gen Camaro guy since I was a kid....but the AC Cobra, 70 Cuda and PAntera were all held in high regard. Just couldnt afford any of them.
Cant imagine driving a Cobra...how light they are, 10 second runner. Pure bliss!!
This Cobra spits a unique venom for sure and this is the best build I think I've seen. Love every aspect of it. That's a lot of miles in a month so it must be good fun! Blue Ridhe Mountain are the place to be!
Nice..as a person that lived in North Carolina Raleigh area for a while a one point..Trust me. The road are great all over...Great Review!!!..👍🏽🏁
Love that ,,can't own a car without driving it..word..collecting and driving my style..
Vinny.....................................you are a blessed man
He is and he knows it and earns it daily. Such a cool guy and a really cute young family
I found your channel because of VINGIGGS !
Awesome!! Vinny is the coolest and we’ll definitely be shooting more with him soon
damn wow, that GT-40 outside in matte dude .. I agree that Intake is the most direct ever
That GT40…🤤🤤
I have watched I don't know how many videos about Cobras and thought I liked this and thought I liked that but I believe, Should I ever hit that lottery that this car right here with this particular engine, color and all, would fit the bill just right. I genuinely feel like I truly don't want much, But, this car right here would just be my bucket list topper.
I’m kind of a Sasquatch and I doubt I’d fit in there but god dang it I’d sure like to try! 🤣 look like a damn Mario cart character
😂😂 love the Mario kart reference!
I'm 6'6" it's pushing the limits for a superformance. Borderline painful but still worth it
Of all the cars in the world, any price, the Shelby cobra is the one. And this one is at the top of them. To be honest the only time I would get in trouble with that car, is as soon as I get in it.
Lol! Great comment
😂😂 truth!
Sidewall on tyres is dictated by the width versus hight as 30percent of 345mm so the wider the tyre the taller the profile. 👍
Loving the content over here in Australia 🇦🇺.
Dude that color is so sick!!! Shit this dudes car collection is bad ass.
Thanks brother!
Definitely a great build/spec and Vinny has some great rides
No more roll bar = 100% better looking car. Superformance is one of the rare makers that delivers a better product than the original. Just straight 🔥🏁
I agree. Superformance is the best at keeping the legend alive
great vidio
Oh my Lanta!
And I'm only 4 seconds in!
Luv that Ford Blue it's sick & beautiful at the same time...😎
I’ve seen a lot of cobras, that one is absolutely sick. 🔥🔥🔥🔥 💯 %
So many things about this car are yummy......a pure driver......no BS... just fun driving
That engine. Seems like the sweet spot.
The paint is striking.
That was crazy awesome guys...beyond impressive Cobra build!. That was crazy awesome guys...beyond impressive Cobra build!.
sweet sweet ride
What an incredible car and the best explanation of what this is, is a Pro-Touring Cobra. Vinny is coolest guy ever letting you rip through the gears. That Rally sounds like a great idea, make sure to come out to Coastal NC as well :) Another great episode
Vinny is such a great guy! He had me drive every car he owns while I was there. Will definitely be back for more
Man that thing is perfect in every way. That may be the best sounding exhaust that I have ever heard. It makes my spine tingle.
Rad. The 427 BB is still king, but that 5.2L prolly feels so much more refined in a small wheelbase the way it delivers torque. And it sounds spicey as all hell.
315
It's the 8200 redline.
Like a Ferrari....that's the hook.
It would be incredible to drive and shift it through its paces taking it to redline before each shift.
🤤
Cause of my age Id still opt for a cantankerous high strung FE BB.
Nothing like that brute low end tq and that nervous gut feeling at WOT knowing at any sec the car could introduce you to Jesus.
NOt a fan of linear predictable engines.
There are so many cool things about that 'little' car!
PATIENTLY waiting for the video of the white fastback in the background of the last TWO of Vinnys' badass garage/shop/mancave !
Coming this fall 😉
I am in WV and love these mountains.
Next time I’m out there I need to drive them
Color combo is great and love the hands on video. I've been a CSX Cobra owner for some time now. Regarding Superformance, they are licensed by Shelby but that's about where it stops. They are not a continuation car nor do they get a global Shelby registration number. Both Superformance and Backdraft cars are assembled in South Africa and imported as rollers. Keep up the great work. The GT40 is beautiful!
Man, really wish we could have heard it rev out to 8k. Sweet car.
Me too but I’m always respectful of driving other peoples cars
@@AutotopiaLA Totally get the respect thing. I wish the owner would have driven it and let us hear the 8k revs. He spoke so much about the rev limit to not hit it between the two of you. No disrespect AT ALL and it’s not our car but……. 😆
All I can say is AGREED AGREED AGREED. BAD ASS CAR BAD ASS MOTOR BAD ASS RIDE
I found your channel from AutotopiaLA!
I remember seeing a legitimate competition cobra when I was a teenager. Thing had the craziest lope I've ever heard.
Love this build. Perfect engine for the Cobra!
Perfect engine all the way
Dude has a dream collection
This is actually one Snake I like to see in my garage or my driveway! Awesome 🤗
I love that you’re using the ST as the chase car.
Sounds so good thru my headphones!
BEAUTIFUL COVBRA
I cant imagine ripping that car over 8 grand. Must be surreal. I put a ford racing 460ci sbf in my mkiii and its just instant raw power that wants to kill you. Totally different experience and frankly the aluminator is probably a lot more fun
I love this car. It's like a street legal go-cart with a V8.
What a beautiful range of exhaust notes!!!
Changes multiple times as the revs come up
What a very different engine sound to any other Cobra that’s been featured on these builds, it has more of a snarl to it and the rev band appears to be more driver friendly and much less frantic sounding. It doesn’t take away at all from the raw visceral nature of an analog car; it looks as if it’s more “controllable” and less of those “oh f... I am in over my driving abilities “ !! Judging by how calm Vinny looks as you’re running through the gears multiple times is a testament to your driving skills and comfortability behind the wheel. He said it well it’s the pro touring version of what have come to know a Cobra to be, also the color combination is really unique both on the exterior and in the engine bay. It looks like an absolute blast to drive from watching this and even though you’re sitting with your feet canted to the left your heel toe rev matches on the downshifts appear effortless and very clean. I’m a fan, and I’m going to follow his channel! Thanks Vincent Giglio nice ride!
I LOVE THE COBRA AND I LOVE THE VOLUTION OF THE NEW COBRA!!!! PERFECT FIT FOR A SUPERCHARGED GODZILLA 7.3 AND A MANUAL TRANSMISSION!!!!
WoW outStanding the Car on my Dream !!❤
LOVE your videos, Shawn! and huge props to your sound engineer for capturing the awesome sound of these Cobras! not easy to do with all the wind noise and open side exhaust
Yet another amazing car, in an amazingly shot video! Love what you provide for us Shawn!! Keep up the good work, my man. And I definitely think that engine in that car is probably the absolute perfect combination. Sounds as good as it looks, and I'm so glad you showcased it in this fantastic video! 👍👍
Once you started driving, I could not stop smiling!
The exhaust note on this car.......is just amazing!
Awesome vid. I plan on getting a Superformance Daytona Coupe at some point and this video has given me some great ideas
Flows very well together I agree … should have revved it out! That’s the beauty of these motors lol he was begging you to!! 😂
Sweet car man
@920 *_You could put a small dead body in there._* Shawn's been binge watching The Sopranos. 🙂
You HAVE to do a vid on the Porsche I see in the background! Love the classic speedsters!!!
I had 11 wonderful years before I parted with my Superformance . I never had an accident or a ticket in all that time .
Luck was on my side ! Lol
Oh how I would love to own that white Shelby Mustang in back of his shop!!!
Me too!
Styling is straight out Hot Wheels, Love it !
So cool
Looking forward to the day someone puts the GT500 760hp version of the 5.2 in one of these. It'll be a riot for sure 🤣
Only 760hp.... hehe I have something much much juicier that i will be fitting😊
@stu1944 anyone know how they get that shifter in that period correct looking position?? I have a tk0600 that is way off as we moved the engine forward for some weight over the front axle line..and now fitting a t56 6spd how do they get it off to the left and use that long rod?.
This is the best I've seen. Class job guys!!🏁
Having a rally out here is a good idea. From SC, not far at all so I will be there!
Best car channel, period!
Absolutely stunning. Love the color sound all of it I’d love to drive this
Poetry in motion!!!
Beautiful Beast of a car.
Awesome ride! You let the secret out obout our NC roads. I have the same tires on my blue 1LE, super predictable grip and able to drive in all weather!
For those who caught the owners comment about the Blue Ridge Mountains: if you ever get a chance to ride up into that range from Sperryville, Va, don’t miss it. Super tight banked corners, 2 lanes going up, 1 lane going down. You can haul balls uphill while experiencing significant G force. 👍
Another great car and video! I think that idea of a rally of some sort I. That area would be great! I’m in KY and would love to be part of that once I get the General Lee up and going! I’m also still drooling over that Aluminator, what an engine!
My dream car ❤
One of the best cobra replicas I've seen in quite a while 👍
Thanks, that's a beautiful build.
GREAT VIDEO SHAWN!!!! I LOVE IT, AND I LOVE THE UPGRADES. GREAT VIDEO AND THANKS FOR SHARING!!!!
Imagine you are in the passenger seat and Ken Miles is in the driver’s seat.
That would be a dream come true!
It doesn't sound like a GT350 because the 5.2 Aluminator does NOT have a flat plane crank like the Voodoo.
Exactly and I’ve seen some videos saying that the gt500 is the gt350 voodoo with a supercharger
The aluminator has more horsepower
Yes, THAT one I'll take, thanks ☝
Me too!
That was crazy awesome guys...beyond impressive Cobra build!
So good!
I dig it! And an 8K red? Outstanding! 🔥🔥🔥
🤩Man! The cars on the video are insane! I think you have more work to do on that garage! About the Cobra, considering I’m planning one for myself, I did a lot of research about them. One funny thing: the race drivers of that time didn’t like much when they put the 427 instead of 289 in the Cobra, because the power was immense but handling wasn’t that good as the lighter version!
Beautiful and sounds great
Vinny kudos . I would love to see some more of your rides
Check out his channel and we’ll be back to shoot more with him soon
Great bloke great car!
Nice one !!! Love it.
What A great build!
Vinny's got it going on...Congrats man!!! Your garage is every guy's envy. I'm hopefully retiring at the end of this year and have been looking at Back Draft's w the 427's. This video has completely changed my mind. Since the R came out it has been my preference and now that I hear it is more manageable and drives that much better vs the other two brands ..I'm all in. This is the motor for me. Perfect set up, and Shawn thanks for getting up the rev band some! One question. Which are the better car lifts? Thanks Guys.
