Rory has the best job ever, driving and reviewing the best vehicles in the world. Couldn't happen to a nicer guy, way to go Rory!
@@bawintermage8351Couldn't have said it any better. Absolutely brilliant!
@@ashtonadams3223 Glad we agree, Rory is this channel best asset. Personally, I'd love a Cobra
it depends! E.g. if you don’t like cars but let’s say chocolate, then chocolate taster is the best job for you!!!😂😂😂
@@Pajaa37 Too much Chocolate can give you diabetes. Too much cars, just makes you fun!
How do you know he’s a nice guy do you live with him. Lol
Half way through this video, I realised I had a huge smile on my face! Thanks, Rory.
20 year ago, I used to work right next door to Factory Five in Wareham, MA. Every time I see a FF Cobra, the engine sounds like thunder with those side pipes, especially with the 427.
@@DroneStrike1776 and the sound of the 427 is way better than the one Rory had to test. That’s the only thing that would bother me with this car.
@@steflechef7936Everyone loved the 427 but it was too nose heavy. The 5.0 Coyote is a better handling car.
This car will never Age
Agreed!
Well kinda has lol, you're just used to seeing it the design is over 60 years old like the Morgan.
An MG Cyberster for example is how an contemporary roadster looks like.
@@Rdgrzpxl it has aged but beautifully so, that’s what makes it so spectacular.
You hit that smack in the center.
It does. Like the best of wines.
Growing up my dad always had V8’s, I loved riding with him. there isn’t a better sounding engine to me. (many would argue that) I watched this video with heavy base EarPods. Wow man! Truly wonderful. Video getting saved for replay:). Another great review! Nice one Rory.
The Cobra makes it way back home, Bigger, Blacker, Buffer, Uncut!
I'm definitely getting me one of this bad boys after watching this review HALLELUJAH!! I'm sold on the sound and the looks.
It’s one of those cars that will forever transcend time . Absolutely stunning
This guy is a genuine car enthusiast. Brilliant.
Rory is carrying the mantle of Jeremy Clarkson. Thank you for such exquisite and passionate reviews.
@@YonsuKu naah ! I like rory but clarkson has a funny and charismatic personality of an entirely different league.
Do you mean how Clarkson bends the truth to make things “British”? Then yes, he’s carrying that mantle. The 427 cobra is so thoroughly reengineered that there is hardly anything the same to the ACE frame is different, suspension is different… it’s like the gt40. Yes both started as British cars but after their chassis and aerodynamics were found to be inadequate they were reengineered in the U.S. and only after that did they become the legendary cars they are now. If they had kept the British chassis as it was for both cars, they would have never won much anything
and ended up a footnote in history and nothing more.
Clarkson? 😂 Rory is in a league of his own 🍻 mate
The 427 and I believe the 289 also were still marketed in the UK (and probably overseas) under the AC badge. Probably just as rare if not rarer than the Shelby-badged cars. AC also put out various homages over the years.
First time seeing a car that I didn’t know that I want but want all at the same time
I love these. Where I live, there’s a bunch of Cobras, genuine and replicas all over the place. I didn’t know this backstory. Thanks for doing this one. I love what you’re doing.
I met Carroll Shelby at Lime Rock Park in the 90s and told him that the Cobra was my 2nd favorite car in the world, and that hasn't changed in over 25 years. desperately hope to get a replica at some point.
Wats your fav car?
This has been my dream car for as long as I can remember. This beautiful car always brings a smile to my face. 😊
Rory… you’re living my life mate. ❤
Real driving experience with zero electronic controls or safety equipment. You and the car as one!!
I used to autocross a lot back in the 1970's in the San Diego area. One day a guy showed up with a real 427 Cobra. I got a ride in it around the course. WOW !!!!!!!!! That's a car I really loved, but only for about 1 hour at a time. 😅
Another stellar review by Rory. I kept on imagining myself driving this car while watching the review. Clive Sutton I'm on my way
NICE TONE, SUBTLE, DEEP, JUST THE WAY IT SHOULD BE.
It’s a B road blaster for pure fun and not apologetic for it on a blue sky day. It’s the dream Fort William to Applecross for lunch and back machine on a day of cloudless sunshine.
May I suggest that you guys do a Rory Dream Cars series? There's something special about the episodes where you can clearly see that Rory is inside one of his dream cars; the joy and excitement are infectious.
The exhaust tone alone is well worth the price❤❤❤❤❤
@@brubru6819 this is exactly what I was thinking about the minute I saw the video. If I had 200k I’d buy the car all because of the way it sounds
@@brubru6819 this is exactly what I was thinking about the minute I saw the video. If I had 200k I’d buy the car all because of the way it sounds
ABSOLUTELY LOVE the Cobra! Those companies really making this icons even more EPIC ICONS! That sound...to die for...
What a car. Well for £60k maybe. Did you see the engine and the seats? Definitely not a £200k car imo
Love the video. That exhaust note is causing my house to vibrate from my HT sub woofers. Lovely car
UK or USA, the Shelby Cobra has always been my favorite car design.
The V8 is the best sounding engine ever.
Cobra is an icon.
What person wouldn’t want to review a beast like that.
A true raw car
Thank you
😎😎😎👍👍👍
And no EV will ever be able to replicate that feeling.
The MG cybersnowflake will! Joking.. f"ck having no noise! No engine!
EVs are for the soulless
I'm fine with having a performance EV as a daily and gas as my hobby pride car. Let this thing blow my ear drums out on the pretty days and then daily a fast electric sleeper the rest of the time. Best of both worlds
Ev’s aint meant to. Theyre meant to be the superior daily. Quit whining about batteries its fkn weird
@@iCozzhSame for you, little man.
i LOVE how u still get the old school v8 sound from the exhaust!!!
Pleasantly surprised to get a video from you that didn’t include a Tesla
The early body and small block makes it so much better as a drivers cars though
I'm pretty confident most car guys know that the ac cobra was a British chassis.
Yep, this is an AC replica with Shelby badges. Go figure (the RHD cars were all AC's). Also: Superformance is thoroughly South African, not American.
Great video. Sometimes you just have to lead with your heart and not your head. Fascinated by the gearshift. Looks awkward and cool at the same time.
Love Superforrmance! Please do a review on the GT40 and Daytona Coupe too!
Do I get brownie points for identifying the filming location as being in and around Polebrook, near Oundle in Northamptonshire?
There are some amazing driving roads around there 😉
The pub in the village, The Kings Arms, is worthy of a visit too
@@Mike-1000 I couldn't accept. I lived in the house next door to the pub for 12 years. I have an unfair advantage.
Raw performance! Absolute classic.
Some Product Placements will never die; how about a Porsche 964 Turbo and the gorgeous AC Cobra that duelled at the end of BAD BOYS? Epic
I've never lusted after any exotic car, but the Shelby Cobra is pure automotive prawn too me.
No1 on my bucket list is to build a Dax Rush replica of the cobra.
The AC Ace from which the AC Cobra was later built was only 100 HP and had a 0 - 60 time of slightly over 11 seconds. This vehicle would have faded into history if not for Carrol Shelby fitting it with powerful V8 engines, drivetrains and suspension upgrades. Shelby's versions were racetrack terrors that established the Cobra as the legend it is today.
I mean we all knew originally it was from UK but Shelby America made it iconic. It's common knowledge the cobra was British born. I mean did anyone not know that? Honestly I'd be surprised
Doesn't sound overly loud to me; in fact, sound is quite sweet and controlled.
Agree,just right😊
Goldilocks says yes
The true volume isn’t really coming across on this video. You can only tell by the fact that Rory’s voice sounds so muffled.
I always loved the AC Cobra.
What a car 🐍
Just a beautiful thing. The Shelby Cobra will never age.
One of my favorite cars I forgot about this 1 😅
Absolute beast. IMO the superformance looks better than the original.
Nice review! You know AC cars themselves released a new version for £240k.
10/10 video
Remember seeing one in the early 2000s with the reg H155, very cool. 😁
Maybe I’m wrong but the AC cobra has always been described as a British body with an American powertrain. It’s very iconic as an American classic but we’ve always loved that it was an American taking a British chassis and like Americans did, we shoved a massive V8 in it
Great backstory, and so reminiscent of how the American P-51 Mustang wasn’t a real winner until it was built using a British Rolls Royce Merlin engine. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Bro the food on the car, blasphemy 😂😮💨😂 that’s a beauty. Always loved the Cobra.
i have been in love with this car since i saw it first
When cars are actually cars ❤❤❤
I thought Superformance was South African. I love the cobra, would choose a Kirkham over this, and from Superformance, it has to be the GT40 II for me.
The original is one of my dream cars, and the example used in this upload is very nice, only issue I see with it is the steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car...🤘🏻🇺🇸
While watching this , I just realized that I’m smiling the majority of the time 👍🏾.
Great intro and I loved the food analogy as well!
loving the history lesson
Such a beautiful design ❤
Absolutely superb automotive journalism
I had a Backdraft w a Roush 427 with 570hp. I sold it because it was so scary and the lack of ABS is unsettling. Wasn't good on the highway. Shook over ever pebble in the road.
We all know the Cobra used a British, AC, body. The Cobra, as conceived by Carroll Shelby and funded by Ford, still makes it an American car.
True but it a great amalgamation of english and American just like the mustang plane, merlin RR motor and American body
AC engineered and built all 900+ original road going Cobras, and they still build them today. Carroll Shelby got the idea of an American V8 in an English sports car from Sydney Allard, who Shelby raced for and against other manufacturers like AC. Allard had been putting V8s into light sports cars since 1948 and in the early 50s designed and built a small sports car with a Hemi V8 to sell in the North American market, called the Allard K3, sadly it wasn't a success and Allard folded as a car manufacturer and racing company in 1957, but Shelby took that idea with him back to the States and four years later AC got a call.
@@dcanmorewhere can I read this at? I like reading up on auto history
@@MaddNomad1015 not sure about free resources, but automotive books details the history of these companies. If I find something online I'll publish the links here. However Allard and AC wikipedia pages are quite good for a start and they usually reference the books the info came from.
Peanut butter surprised me. Also would have guessed apple pie was Dutch.
Cobra was what we used to call a hybrid. GT40 also.
love how this is filmed
❤Man i like this car, remember it on Akon naa na na video yoh. will buy this one day.
This “history” lesson is leaving out a lot of important things that make this car American and not British. Like how the chassis was completely reengineered by Shelby with larger main tubes in the chassis and completely different suspension. So the engine, transmission and chassis were American, and I guess the original non flared body is the only thing purely british about the cobra. So the famous 427 s/c literally has nothing besides the lights that haven’t been changed from the Ace. My maybe may be off, but out of all the pieces of the car, having the body, chassis, engine and transmission all designed in the U.S. doesn’t make this car British really, does it?
Or the fact AC’s vision was with an inline 6 and they ended up selling Carroll’s new car. Lol.
I almost wish Ford would’ve created that Cobra concept back in the day to put it all to rest.
Always loved these. Verry Special indeed 🍻
One of the all time greats. I'd love to own one for a while.
As an American I concur Rory
Rory another awesome video, can't wait to see you testing Porsche 911 EV conversion resto mod and new Ford GTD ❤❤❤❤
Keep up with great work
With a set of 3M earplugs, that engine sound would be perfect!
From namibia - rory is auto trader❤
My favourite shaped car .The AC Cobra, widow maker.😁👍🏾👍
This beast is full of surprises!
If you want to do 'new' Shelby Cobras or Ford GT40s, Superformance is THE people.
Remove the side exit baffles then it sounds proper mental
a car from the past, nice ... i like the Shelby Cobra CSX10000
Great video!!
I always preferred the Ace myself, but horses for courses.
Let's address the elephant in the room.
It's a long throw manual, that's the single change necessary to make this perfection; it needs a short throw, sharp, gritty manual shifter. (limited slip and wishbones front/back)
One of my favourite videos recently. Just because of the grin. Did I miss the price? I'm expecting Eagle speedster money
The price is in the title, 200,000 pounds. Far less than the beautiful Eagle Speedster.
@@3ducs haha thanks. I watched it on my TV and didn't let it scroll 🤣
Love the angles 🔥
*More interesting info on the AC Cobra.*
_"In the early hours of 11 June 1964, AC Cars took a 4.8-litre Ford-powered Cobra Coupé GT car on to the M1 motorway to do a high-speed test run before the Le Mans 24 Hours. The team's driver, Jack Sears, recorded 185mph on the motorway, and the national media heard about it."_
And we know what happened as an indirect result of the above. The permanent 70 mph speed limit in 1967 was introduced after a couple earlier trials. But even though the government claim that it was due to the oil crisis, most would say that the government and, more importantly, the police, were totally shocked that someone could drive up the M1 at that speed.
Love this nice work
Well what is Clive Sutton’s loudest car then ?
That noise! 😍
Very cool review! Very cool car!
This is a masterpiece.
The essence of a classically beautiful car!
Looks and sounds better than Pagani's and Bugati's , assume that feel also.
Rory pls where have you been?
Amazing car, definitely loud and lovely 😍
Wait to hear that ur GT40s are also british
I love your Job Mate.
Hate to say it but the Yanks have always made the coolest, most characterful vehicles. V8s in cars and V twins in bikes. Can't go wrong.
All Rory was trying to say in this video is, the Shelby is a real man’s car
Always loved these. One day!
Cheers mate
Turns out i was wrong. I thought that all new cars had been ruined with electronics. I want one. ✌️
Which one is Clive Sutton's loudest car please?
