I don't like the location of those usb ports, right infront of the heat exhaust vents. We know how much heat the original Ally gives off. So having your power lead going over that exhaust vent surely can't be good? Won't it end up with overheating the charging cable or even the actual charging port? At least on the original Ally, the usb port is in the center, between those 2 heat exhausts.
@@karma.2781 the display. The X has like a gloss coat. I dunno what you’re watching the video on but on my 4k display there’s a lot of reflection and the white isn’t showing. The black colors in the display are nice.
Nice video.. Brave of you to show performance numbers. I still don't know if I want to upgrade from the OG Ally. The increase in RAM size and speed will boost performance. I'm not sure if the potential 5%+ jump in performance (could be much more in some cases) will be enough to push current owners over the edge. I do like the improved buttons, speakers and storage options. The swappable analog is a killer feature. The battery upgrade is nice, but I play plugged in most of the time.
That extra 1TB full sided M. 2 2230 is big upgrade since it is way easier to find an upgrade and way cheaper than the previous one you can upgrade it to 2TB easily. Also the 24gb shared faster ram is great so users don't have to worry about how to allocate their pool of RAM. With 16GB for the system and 8GB for the GPU, plus an upgrade to 7500MHz speeds, games should run smoother than ever. Some games require 16gb ram and 8Rgb VRAM which like forspoken, horizon forbidden west, suicide squad, and Returnal so that extra 8gb shared VRAM is great for these games. Also that extra 3 thinner fans and vents and change the fan curves for better cooling and they also replaced the placement of the micro sd and the addition of thunderbolt 4 now you can plug any E-gpu if you want extra power.
I've pre ordered the Ally X but would it kill Asus to not use the red pcb boards because it makes the insides look cheap. I would of preferred black pcb's instead just looks way better and for the price too we're paying come on Asus🙄
@@narrowneptune5479 ??? I was literally about to buy the Ally X and then saw the awful things Asus does to their customers. I’ll just wait until Lenovo or other manufacturers equip something with more than 16GB ram. Asus lost a potential customer (me)
Bro plz stop it with the fake doom comparison! The difference in performance between the 2 handheld is no where near that much, just trying to sell the new product!!
@FernandoTorres-xm7db the original ally at 58 fps compared to over 100 on the x is false, they both have the same z1 extreme he's just messing with the settings to make one look better, typical salesman on TH-cam
Idk bro I had the ally and what made me return it after a few weeks was the battery. Lack of vram also.made most AAA games laggy. I welcome the new upgrade. I already put my order down and if I don't like it bestbuy doesn't ask questions they just take it back. But ultimately even though the steam deck has a hard time running most games above 30fps it keeps a high battery performance. The ally had to be used on max to get great gameplay and for 30-45 minutes that's just a solid no for me.
Would you pick up the new ROG Ally X?
Yes bro the X
Was really hoping to see OLED screen and a track pad. Fingers crossed for Ally 2.
I thought embargo prevented people co show fps numbers?
definitely
You misled with fps. I can hit those fps with OG ally. So no bc of misleading and annoying marketing from Asus
That performance difference seems high ???
Different Power Target.
Reviewers are allowed to show numbers now?
nope, lol
fake nrs yes apparently

I can’t help but notice the glare coming off the X. The white display looks great on camera.
You talking about the glare coming off of the plastic?
Please explain the glare you are seeing?

Woah it got way more frames at a higher res even. Would the faster ram really make that much of a difference?
No.
5-10% difference. Extra Ram comes into play too here.
I wanna buy asus rog but which should I go for original or the x everyone be honest I only play about an 1 maybe 1hr.30mins
@user-mg3qh7oj4d Go for X but if you're getting OG Ally Z1 Extreme for $350, then go for it.
This guy be selling his soul for a paycheck. Never be this much of a beta fellas.
what game are you playing in this?
This is becoming one of my favorite tech channels. Keep up the good work brother 😎
Holy crap that thing is expensive , more than a new console 😮
I'm definitely picking up a ROG Ally X.
Is it possible to consider the "asus rog ally x" as the main device for gaming?
Yes, There are a few videos of people using it with a dock and playing on their TV. It actually looks great on TV as well.
True is can be but the real question is why!?
@@GODS3NT because it gets the job done.

what about microsd port?
thinking on switch from the ally to the x because of this....
Thanks for your good Presentation! I wonder if the graphics can be compared to PS5
And can be compared to PS5?
50 fps in OG ally and over 100 in Ally x? LOL BRoooo
Yeah, nice try. 15W on the Ally vs 30W on the Ally X.
Yep. He’s lying. I’m blocking him. Fck em.
Asus is not consumer friendly
You are just coping because you can't afford this wait fot the Asus rog ally 2 AND then it Will be consumer friendly 😂

Good video as always BUT.. theres no way ally x double the frame rates bro.
Bro, stop lying. I got this game and I run way more fps in this that’s on the OG. SMH 🤦🏻♂️
Nice review as always, my man.
Cap!!🧢, u definitely running x at higher wattage lol
No doubt. While more RAM at faster speeds does make a difference, it definitely doesn't make THAT big of a difference
Prefer zen 5 rog ally waiting for it
You will wait a long time...

What was fake?
You’re forgetting that having 8gb of dedicated VRAM @ 7500mhz makes a substantial difference for integrated graphics

Yeah sure I get 100 fps on my standard rog ally at 30W, this video is pure BS and manipulation
