Great review brother, honestly I bought one for the exact same reason of becoming a father to my first little man and being able to play when he just passes out on my lap or be able to grab it whenever he is relaxing in his swing is a game changer. Honestly it’s become my main “console”/gaming device and the as a personnel chief in the military I can do my work in it whenever I’m stuck on the couch with my son. You are so right it’s a great budget pc and man I’m truly happy I got it when I did.
Great overview. I too am a Dad and started with a Steam Deck, but switched over to the Ally. I keep hearing the next step is to buy a pair of Xreal glasses or Rokid max. You get the large screen while retaining the Ally's portability.
Got the Xreal glasses and they were not good at all. The screen projection is too big causing your bottom hud in games to be very hard to see without constant adjustments also while playing and the eye strain is unreal. I returned them after about 3 days of trying to make them work out.
I just picked up a pair of the Xreal Air 2 Pros with the Beam combo off eBay for $400. I used it with my Asus ROG ally, Steam Deck, Nintendo Switch, Ipad Pro, Gaming Laptop, and Samsung Galaxy S20FE phone and it is like having a Portable 130'inch Screen. I didn't experience any blurriness like many people are complaining about. It is Sharp and Clear from edge to edge. This was my personal experience. I guess some folks have larger PD, so it may appear blurry to them. My Pupil Distance is 59. I had no issues with image quality. Looks awesome! Just wanted to share this with you. It all depends on the user. Everyone has different experiences. 😉👌
@@nameless3037 you know the Xreal Air glasses has built in adjustments up to three positions. Also, if you get the Xreal Beam it allows you to adjust the screen size from 0-330’ inches. This will solve the issues you were experiencing. I use my Xreal Air 2 pro glasses with my Nintendo switch, Steam Deck, Asus ROG ally while sitting in my massage chair in gravity mode. Mine was 9k Mexican pesos, honestly, best thing you can get here. Steam deck OLED and legion go are almost double the price unless you get something for sale.
Last year I decided to move out of my apartment and into a van to save money. Just wasn't worth it to me to just "give away" over half my paycheck. I ended up selling my old 1080ti rig and bought a Z1 extreme. It is so nice to still be able to play games I actually want to play and not have to rely on just using my phone or a Switch. I have a bluetti power bank I charge up at work and that'll last me about 4 days with my usage of all electronics in my van.
I paid $742 for the z1 extreme back when it first released so it’s a lot more reasonable now days but regardless I love it and it’s a very powerful little handheld I’ve only had around 3 games where it didn’t meet my expectations but out of the 25+ games I’ve played AAA titles at that this thing performs extremely well

Well, had it almost 3 weeks, I'm having more fun on this than my 4090 PC. Currently playing on it, Grim fandango, F1 23, Project Zomboid, Poppy playtime. RDR2, I use it as it is and also with the Xreal mini OLED AR Glasses. Just the fact of being able to play PC games on the couch before work with A Coffee, or at work at break times. It's really open up gaming for me and I'm more inclined to play more games, games I normally would not be motivated to play. because I guess it's more convenient.

Ally is the best portable out. Steam Deck is good but lacks in performance. Legion Go, is uncomfortable being a compromised laptop.
Only the smaller Chinese brands are better than the Ally, but at a much higher price.
Sorry but 600 dollars is not budget
The usual “budget pc” would be $500-$600. Yes you can go cheaper but you’d have to sacrifice a lot of performance. I got my ally for $500 so it ended up being an awesome deal
@RAVisuals I would get one but that screen is small
Ut is for a capable pc with screen and controller ?
It's budget already compare to much pricier PC handheld likes in the Aya Neo & Gpd Win
Speak for yourself. Everyone has a different view on budget.
All sponsorer video to bunk up Rog ally.. lots of alt news now a days. What about thermal ? 😂 Handheld whatever device you may choose will never ever take a stand against Gaming PC with liquid cooled engine. Hands Down..

$600 is budget in the pc world
