Yes I agree I love the laid back nature of these videos. Feels like you’re having a one on one conversation with me. Not trying to sell me on why I should buy a product.
Yeah I feel you. CyberDopamine’s channel is a nice break from BlameTruth The CodFather raging and screaming about Call Of Duty like an incessant child. That guy needs help.
I own the go and im very happy with it, very glad I did not buy the other two, the screen size is so much better. Some cut scenes in games make the picture alot smaller on my go, id hate to imagine how small it must look on the ally x. Once you enable loss less or amfm2 etc, or just set the device to auto/performance mode, everything runs buttery smooth, diablo 4 i can get a good 80 to 100fps easy. gta 5 runs smooth as, everything is good.
Loving my deck so far (6 months) haven’t run into a game I couldn’t run and maaaaybe one game crash. It’s the simplicity for me that sells it, just turn it on and boom youre back in the game or whatever.
My biggest problem with the X is the price, considering it is the exact same chip as the extreme and go. I guess you are paying for the battery and a number of minor improvements.
There's power almost everywhere now days. I would never play a Handheld triple AAA game without being plugged into a wall outlet. It's like ordering a burger without the fries n drink. You'd never be full and always regret not going the extra way. :D
@@MikeS-qk6gdExtra battery and more ram is what’s raising the price. But those two upgrades alone increase the usability of the device so much further than the original device itself uncanny.
Steam Deck OLED is my single fave piece of tech I've ever owned. 1 thing that not nearly enough people focus on in these videos, is that people LOVE playing older games! SD OLED has completely reignited my love for gaming with the ability to emulate all the classic consoles and play legendary PC games that I never got to, or haven't played in years on the go, with a gorgeous OLED display, and insane battery life (on older games and low power stuff, the SD OLED really shows it's insane efficiency, I played through almost the entirety of Half Life 2 on a 6 hour train ride the other day without charging). The few times that I have played new-ish games on it, I've been really surprised at what it can handle! It's extremely capable for everything BUT the absolute newest and most GPU demanding games (Which IMO make no sense to play on a handheld anyways). So unless you're specifically buying a handheld to play 2024 AAA games or you don't own any other more powerful console or device, and if you have ANY interest in classic, retro or indie gaming, I think the SD OLED is an easy winner. Obviously if you're rich, and don't mind doing a bunch of tinkering/customizing on windows/setting up dual booting with bazzite, etc.. then go for an Ally X, but otherwise the SD OLED is still my fave console/gaming hardware of all time
Honestly the people who have problems with both Ally and Legion are people who are downloading drivers not in Armory crate or legion space. If you go stock front end then you never have issues. I have all 3 handhelds and legion is by far my favorite for the screen.
I love the Steam Deck.. but the only thing that still keeps me tied to the Steam Deck instead of Rog Ally X is the presence of the trackpad, which I find super comfortable and very useful in many games
Also if your having heating issues with the Lego, make sure to open the device and clean the fan. That completely fixed mine, it was like brand new afterwards
I own 4 of them, that being the Ally, Ally X, Deck OLED and Go. If I'm going to be honest the Legion Go's screen is overrated. It's a decent display but it is completely ill suited for a handheld being 2560x1600. I would have forgiven it more if it was 1920x1200 but it's not. The way pixel scaling is handled makes the image either soft or not great. Now while 1280x800 with integer scaling looks good it's not as nice as 1280x800 on the Deck OLED. I also do not care about the screen being 8.8in as it does border on too big as a handheld. The d-pad also is the worst on the Legion Go as well as the triggers. The sticks on the Legion Go also feel like they have less travel and aren't as comfortable as the others as well. The nice thing is that they are hall effect meaning they shouldn't ever suffer from drift like the other sticks. Another negative in the Legion Go is the fans. They are by far the loudest and most annoying of all three. They constantly run and are audible even on lower wattages while also being a bit high pitched making them not very pleasant. If they had a lower woosh sound like the Ally X and Deck OLED it could drown more into the background but it doesn't. The USB ports being on the top and the bottom is a love or hate, I don't really like it as often the bottom usb port isn't being used at all because it ends up getting in the way. It's also not very comfortable in my hands as well just because of the shape of the controllers. I also wish the track pad it had was better as the Steam Deck completely blows the Go's out of the water. The software is also a pain as sometimes it just refuses to work for no good reason and it's missing a lot of features that Asus and Valve have on their respective handhelds. Lenovo's software updates are also so few and far between as well making it feel like it's not very well supported by them. The back buttons are also bad and don't feel very good to press and are positioned badly. Too easy to press and are much too big. Battery life is a bit of a con too with it not being the greatest thanks to that large and bright display being power hungry. The display can also cause issues as it's portrait based and windows in some games sometimes doesn't like that. It's not too common but it can happen with older titles. Where the Legion Go does shine is in the home aspect and control versatility. The legion go is nice at home when you don't have take it places. It's detachable controllers are nice when you don't want to hold it or attach it to an external display. FPS mode is nice for those who want to use it. The dual USB 4 ports are also very useful as you can hook an eGPU up or any other thunderbolt accessory. That's something only the Legion can do as the Ally X only has 1 USB 4 port and the other is USB 3.2. The weight of the Legion Go is also something I do not notice myself. The kick stand on the back is also super useful and very solid so I have no worries of it ever breaking prematurely. Overall the build qualtiy of the Legion Go also feels very sturdy in the hand and feels solid as long as your controllers don't wobble, which sadly one of mine does. The last point is about the quality of the panel, which is extremely nice. The Go's display is wide gamut so in the case where there is content wider than sRGB, the Go can display those colors. Performance is also second best too. Otherwise windows just doesn't clamp the gamut making everything oversaturated which many people really like. While all of this is kind of annoying I do like the Legion Go but it is by far my least favorite. I can fully understand why some love it just for that display but I just don't see that as a big enough benefit to outweigh it's cons. The Original Ally I'd rank right above it. It too has a multitude of issues. The first and biggest issue is the one it's most known for, the infamous SD card reader. The fact that this made it through QA and didn't trigger any red flags is baffling. How do you sell something with a big feature where it is known to fail and sometimes take the storage media with it. This issue should have been spotted a mile away and never should have happened. The sticks are loose on it and while I don't mind it, many others absolutely hate the feel of the sticks on it. The fans can be a bit whiney at higher wattages too making it sound high pitched and annoying. It's not as bad as the Legion especially when under 15w where it is almost silent under load. The back buttons also could have been better too with them being a bit large and not super flush to the body. Battery life has to be the second biggest con about the device as frankly its bad. This bad battery life pushes me to try and stay under 15w on battery simply because 15w gives me 1 hour and 30 minutes on a full charge meaning that I'm constantly checking the battery to see if it's going to die. It and the Legion Go have battery anxiety because of that. Turbo mode is absolutely useless on battery with it giving less than an hour of playtime while also having the fans blasting at the same time. It's just not useful to have such a low playtime on a device that's supposed to be used on the go. The other complaint is it's feel in the hand. Many people find the Ally uncomfortable to hold thanks to it's lack of large grips. I do not mind this but it is a big enough issue for them to have changed it on the X Positives are it's size and buttons. I really like the OG Ally's shoulder buttons, triggers, face buttons, and dpad. They all feel satisfying to press, especially those triggers. Ally has some of my favorite triggers in any device including dedicated controllers, if only they had a way of making them a hair trigger like the upcoming Zotac Zone. The screen is very nice with it covering around 95-100% of sRGB. That is very nice because that means the majority of all content will just look correct as most content is mastered for sRGB only. VRR is also very nice as well too. Software has also had pretty solid support with Asus often listening to the community over requests to be added into Armory Crate. It never really feels like Asus is going to abandon the Ally as they do put out semi regular updates and keep the graphics drivers not too far behind the ones AMD offers on their site. Overall a great handheld with some glaring issues that have plagued it thanks to Asus's warranty issues and the questionable SD card slot that seems to be a lottery whether yours fails or not. Parts are at least readily available and because it's been on the market for a while and has sold well, there are plenty of accessories sold online for the Ally. There are almost as many accessories for the Ally as there are for the Deck which is a good sign of a healthy and bolstering market for it Steam Deck OLED I would place in second place. I don't have much bad to say about the Deck OLED as it's just an overall very solid device and I can understand why it is by far the most popular. My small complaints are stuff like the dpad not being my favorite but still being solid and the feel in my hands. I find myself constantly needing to adjust my hands on the Deck just to get it to sit right. Another con is the Windows situation, so while most people will never put windows on the Deck, Valve could be handling windows so much better on it. Dual booting isn't as easy as the Legion Go or both ROG Ally's and their support isn't the best either with the OLED taking almost a year to get proper drivers for windows. As for it's benefits, the Deck's screen is by far the best for colors. Not only does it have perfect blacks but it also has the widest color gamut of all of them. According to NotebookCheck, the Deck OLED meets 100% of not only sRGB but also AdobeRGB and DisplayP3 as well making it fantastic no matter it's typical SDR content or a good HDR implementation in a game. You know colors will look accurate no matter what. The trackpads have yet to be beaten by any handheld on the market with them not just feeling great but being very useful, especially with it being one of two handhelds on the market with dual trackpads. Sticks feel great too and aren't too loose either. The 4 back buttons feel very nice in the hand with them being flush enough and requiring just a bit more force just so you don't make accidental presses. The battery life is also fantastic with it being the only device ,besides the Ally X, where I don't sit around worrying that I need to plug it in eventually. Over all the Deck OLED is very solid as a device and does deserve it's place as the best selling PC handheld. Ally X is my favorite by far. It fixes much of the worst aspects of the original Ally and does more. Not only is it more efficient as a whole, it also has better and tighter sticks, better face buttons, and improved grips. The battery life improvement is worth it alone with it being more than double the OG Ally's thanks to many power optimizations not just doubling the battery capacity. It's run times are even better than the Deck while I am still able to play higher end games at better frame rates and/or visual settings. It is also the most comfortable device for me to hold. Performance is also top notch with the 24gb of ram being very useful for those games that end up being RAM starved on the other handhelds. The SD card reader has also been fixed as well too meaning no more premature failures and/or frying SD cards. TL;DR: ROG Ally X > Steam Deck OLED > ROG Ally OG >= Legion Go. Get the Legion Go for it's versatility as a handheld and for it's large screen. Get the OG Ally for it's great price to performance ratio as it's often on sale for good prices. Get the Deck OLED for the community and Valve support. Get the X if you just want the overall best handheld in performance and battery life
I love this review, kudos to you! To mention from an OG Ally owner and someone who travels 1:30hr to university almost everyday who sold it for £400 2tb edition went ahead and got the X for £640 open box last week, OG ALLY internally it just doesn’t feel and gives me longevity vibes with how everything is structured, 2280 NVMe is crap, joysticks and fans etc. Windows uses so much RAM itself so your left with breadcrumbs. I was playing cyberpunk 2077 and Ragnorok and it was suffering and fighting for its life compared to the X where you can have a much much smoother experience and the device didn’t feel it running was on fumes. That battery for those long train days? that’s worth it alone. For me, the £270 difference was steep but at least I’m having way more fun!
@@mza2001 I think for the OG Ally you meant 2230 SSD. 2230 is also what the Steam Deck and Legion Go take. Legion Go can also take 2240 SSDs too which are even less common than 2230. Also windows does allocate a lot of ram but it doesn't use a ton unless you have something like 4gb of system RAM
I use my Go around the house for pc gaming, mostly plugged in, and my SD for emulation and travel. The X was just too expensive for what you get for me as I don't value the big battery too much for my use case. For 799 kind of money, I'll wait for next gen. Liked the Ally Extreme but decided to keep the Go for the larger screen. I am a large person so ergonomically it works for me. The Go needs a lot more tinkering. I agree that the Ally is better for most people, just not me.
@@MikeS-qk6gdDesign POV, where are you putting the speaker on the LeGo up front? The screen covers majority of the console, the controllers have options to detach, if you sit it to stand on its own, then having it at the bottom would be muffled.. the speakers just suck, not the placement.. I own one
I sincerely recommend ally X at this point even just the ram and battery is super worth it. If you are someone who plays emulator you gonna need the extra ram. Windows 11 just use too much ram resource.
@diogor8968 that's true but let me also explain my reasoning for not filling so guilty😅 rog ally 512gb ssd rog ally x 1tb upgrading will cost you like 80 to 100 depends in branding dollars to get a tb for the ally then on top of that the ally x you can use a sd card amen😂 then you also haver a usbc 4 port and a regular usb c port then more and faster ram which depending on if you going to stream edit emulate etc.... with the system that extra ram is needed since the 24gb is also shared with the graphic card aswell
I just coped with Steam Deck OLED 1 TB over ROG Ally X two weeks ago; the price is the issue for me for Ally X in my country (or, i guess, everywhere), so far i enjoyed playing in Steam Deck. So, please everyone convince me to stick to my purchase decision that i won't regret later on :)
I've used all 3. They are all great. If you find the 7 inch screen too small, the Go is for you. If not, the X is the best choice, but also the most expensive. The Ally Extreme is a less expensive but similar option with less battery life. If tinkering is not your thing and you just want a plug and play experience, then go with the SD (just know it has less horsepower and can't play everything). If you want the best bang for your buck, an open box or used Ally Extreme is the best value. Note that the next gen of these devices will be here soon and these will all be obsolete.
I’ve had my Ally X since launch. I bought it and a steam they were both great. But I ended up returning the steam deck because of All the things the ally x can do. It’s versatile and powerful. I’m still excited to use it as the first day I got it. Always adding new things to mine like ps3 emulation and then Wii U. Don’t have to waste a bunch of money on steam games unless I really want them cause of game pass. Gonna add bazzite soon but can’t wait for steam open source OS.
@@iksounds lol that’s literally not true, I’ve owned both. The steam deck doesn’t have game pass, can’t handle many ps3 games because it’s significantly weaker. Look at retro game corps video on emulation and see. On top of that better battery, can play any game like call of duty,Fortnite and many more. I like the steam deck but like the video says the Ally X is the best handheld pc right now. Plus I like windows on the Ally X with armory crate. Many would agree that it’s a plus cause of its versatility and those who hate on it either haven’t tried it themselves or are bad with tech. And bazzites always an option. With steam I would have been forced to pay for games all the time. Since launch I’ve only bought three cause I have so many native game pass games I’m having fun with like lies of p, palworld, persona 3 reload and cod black ops 6 out this month. Plus like another ten I haven’t got to yet. Feel free to have a preference but no need to hate if you made a different decision than me.
Ive had a Legion Go since launch so pretty much a year now. I also have a Steam Deck. I would never think about taking either out anywhere without having them in their "included" case. I find while that you treat it carelessly then want to complain when it doesnt hold up.
I've a steam deck oled , a legión go and until yesterday i had a ally x too. For me is steam deck oled all the way, user experience, support, easy of use, all its functions works out of the box, its the easiest to configure , the trackpads are great, good battery life etc. Second would be the ally x for its power and battery, BUT in my personal experience the quality control is so bad....my first ally x was unable to charger while playing, so i returned it to the shop , and the second one, this time from amazon, had ssd write speed issues in less than a month...so i returned it too and isn't going to be a third oportunuty. Legiom go has great versatility, screen, power , and fast charging, but lacks on battery and resolution problems, but is a great machine too.
Its worth it for the battery and ram and the amount of games you can run on this thing. You can emulate ALL other consoles until PS4. Get one open box or pre owned its worth it
@@Kanafa-pb19xTbh you don’t need to do much checks as it’s the most premium build externally and internally. Check scratches, joysticks and maybe tell the owner to run diagnostics in MyASUS to be 100% sure.
I bought the original ROG Ally and I’m very happy with it. I bought a dock for it so I can connect it to a monitor and do university work when home, but when I’m done I’m able to undock it, lay in bed, and relax while doing some light gaming, or keep it docked for some heavier stuff. I’ll definitely be doing your route and upgrading to one with a Z2 chip eventually, but overall I’m very happy with it.
Me too bought it secondhand 3 months ago. I have been having a blast. It is basically a portable PS4 for me with the bonus of playing PS2 games with better performance and upscaling.
Your videos are now my go-to for tech reviews. Non bias, straight to the point, no BS. I'll come back to this comment when u hit a million Subs! All the best!
Hey man I just subbed a couple videos ago and love your content. I really like how you review things from like a normal dudes perspective instead of just rattling off specs! Do you plan on reviewing other tech besides handhelds?
For me the X is a super worthwhile upgrade over the regular Ally. I returned my original Ally. I mean I did like it overall but my analog sticks didn't feel smooth and they made a noise, wasn't a fan of the ergonomics, and the battery life just wasn't cutting it compared to my Switch OLED. Also I was a little worried about the SD card slot. The Ally X solved all of this. Yes, it's still got the same chip and the extra RAM probably isnt really worth it in most cases, but I am loving the improvements and don't regret buying mine. As a bonus it's black and I like that it doesn't stand out as much. They nailed it. I really wish it had an OLED screen but oh well, it's got VRR which honestly is more useful on a handheld than even a gaming PC.
Anything without a 80wh battery life shouldn't even be considered an on the go game console. I owned a steam deck and the Rog Ally z1 extreme and after buying the Ally x. Nothing yet gets close. Love the battery life it has to offer.
Isn't OLED a minus? I mean that it can burn out after 1-2 years of frequent use. I know people who specifically bought the LCD version of Steam because of this problem.
think about it. source chatgpt: steam deck oled screen will degrade about 3-5 years CONTINUOUS use depending how the brightness and so on. do you think you gonna have a 3 years continuous gaming time? even if yes. by that time, another console probably be out with better performance to offer. @@rh1747
You just helped me out, thanks. I've really been contemplating upgrading my Ally Z1 extreme to the Ally X. I really want that improved battery, but until I see price reductions for Best Buy refurbished models at a decent price I'll stick to my extreme. Lord knows. As soon as I buy one the next version will come out.
The game changer features for me was the LegionGO controllers that can be detached and use like a windows tablet I bought 2 months ago and love it. I use for work in my clinic, if i have some time i play some game, this versatile is awesome
Thanks for your videos, it takes a lot of time and work to put them together. I went with the Ally X, got a returned one for Best Buy for a great price (just missing the power adapter and cardboard stand). Went with it for full gaming library, battery, memory expansion, size, and screen. I like OLED but the screen on the Ally X is pretty darn good. Also, it plays any game out right now at a decent frame rate. I do have to tweak setting each time I bring up a new game, that’s a drag.
I’m so glad for your honest an unbiased review. I watch one review with a TH-camr putting the Ally X up against the Steak Deck OLED and it was su freaking biased. He made the Ally X seem like the worst device ever made. And to top it off he didn’t own the handheld to give a fair comparison smdh.
I love the honesty. For example, it bother me so much that a channel like Digital Foundry talk so much shit about the Windows handhelds and don't give it the credit it deserves when it comes to performance and compatibility. Steam is amazing and has done a lot for the PC handheld world, that cannot be denied. Microsoft can be annoying with updates and configuring games but it's no nearly as bad as trying to install a game in SteamOS Desktop.
This comment deserves credit! Windows isn't bad at all. It's not power button and play and pause, but it's absolutely easy. I stopped taking my laptop on 90% of my trips because of these.
I got the Ally X it’s pretty awesome, I like that I can emulate pretty easily now. Also waiting for the Switch 2 announcement so I can look forward to my next Gen Nintendo handheld experience.
I think its one of the best 8.8 lcd's out there (not far off OLED) I don't feel like I'm missing out on my long play sessions, bazzite has been a game changer running ARPG (just started D2 resurected reimaninged mod on my Legion Go and its awesome) - I have big hands too so it works well for me.
Legion does not need to be Oled, Legion's display is very good and is just as good as the oled, remember Oled tends to have a lot of burning set in over time
Had both and returned the ally x. Legion go if you adjust the settings. You can most definitely play triple A games with the highest resolution. I have no lag or fps issues. Played cyberpunk, war zone etc. And never had any issues. Honestly runs as good as ally x.
I bought the steam oled, enjoyed it to a point, but then I needed a bigger screen and something more powerful then came across the legion go, so I sold the oled and bought legion go and it’s a beast of a handheld bruh, it works like a damn monster, I hook it up with my monitor at times and this thing passes fora pc computer which technically it is lol. If you need a bigger screen that’s more powerful and runs every game, don’t think about it get the legion go.
the video where you showed bazzite off sold me on getting a rog ally where I can boot into either system and get all the functions of the steam deck if I so choose. I love your videos btw
I honestly can't speak for any of the handhelds except the legion go. I wanted the Legion go for a very long time and spent a good dozen hours a week reading about it and watching videos and staring at it for sale online. Then I bought it and was so excited. A week later and 30 hours invested into getting it set up for me to play games and I was frustrated. PC gaming is a beast compared to console and I felt like all I did was tinker with settings I didn't understand and follow random videos and reddit threads on how to set different things up. I ended up factory resetting my legion go after less than 2 weeks and starting fresh. Now, I wouldn't call myself a pro at pc gaming but I at least understand enough to be able to play any game I own and have it set up the way I like. Did I feel an enormous amount of letdown the first 2 weeks I owned it? Absolutely! I considered returning it constantly during that time. Now, though, a month later, it is my absolute go-to! I skip over my XBOX, Playstation, switch, my PC, Wii U, cloud gaming on my TV and even emulation on my phone. Eveything all of those systems can do my legion go can do and although the legion go doesn't come close to comparing to the 3080 Ti in my PC the form factor always wins out. I dont tend to play game for more than 1-3 hours and I'd say I stay closer to 1 hours per session. For me the go is unparalleled. I even use it at work instead of bringing my laptop.
For someone who works in IT having legion GO has been godsend. We technically cannot have personal laptops. But on GO i just vpn into home and dock it to second monitor and use it for anything i feel like, the removable controllers are one less thing to hide in backpack or carry. The kickstand too ..man man. Hoowever. Steamdeck oled feels so darn good in the hands. I own one also and i use it for non intensive titles at home to potato for a longer period of time. Granted im also someone who kept swapping between two switch consoles to nolife xenoblade 2 and 3 so one was always charged when other was about to die. The GO also didnt feel so cramped when using windows like when i bought and tried the ally tbh
I'm in IT as well. I'm in the market for a handheld. Is the legion go better than the rest in terms of using it as a PC as well? I wouldn't play intensive games more emulation than anything else so would you recommend the Go as an all round purchase?
I'm curious to know . Which of the 3 allows offline playing. Like being able to install the game on your device and play it without being connected to Internet.
Your videos are exactly what I was looking for when I want to see handled comparisons. I love that you show real life situations comparing the devices like the elden ring Home Screen in the dark. It really gives you an idea of the display difference for each in terms of their advantages and disadvantages. Honestly the only game I am looking forward to play handled is the sims 4 so if you could ever do a video comparing how it runs on each device I would for sure be grateful and I’m sure there’s more people looking for that too! 🫶🏽🫶🏽 I’m subscribing!
I was really on the fence on which portable to get I was leaning hard towards the Steam deck, but a lot of points you made about the ROG Ally really is making me changing my next puirchase choice. Greetings from Mexico.
Windows OS was not my thing. I ordered a steamdeck instead. Too much tinkering with the legion go. Yes the bigger screen and resolution is nice, but sort of pointless if we can't play games on it and have to downscale to 800p and then the fonts get blurry and such. Well made video!
If I only could have one, ally x with a 2TB drive and dual booted. I’m an enthusiast so I’m lucky to be able to have the deck oled and LEGO. I love them both but they are very different IMO.
Cool video. I rarely travel, but love the idea of continuing what I was gaming on console. What you said at the end struck a note with me. Rog Ally X is the handheld I'm most considering... but maybe trying a 'regular' Ally 1st would be a good idea. Either 2nd hand or on sale. Then, next year, around the winter holidays, I can upgrade to the Z2 chips, or wait for a dedicated Xbox handheld device. I game on Xbox Series X. Would the Rog Ally support playing games, offline, from my Xbox library (not gamepass)?
Lack of at least one track pad in ally X it's just stupid. I bet they will put track pad in the new ally with zen2. I will be very surprised if they don't.
Good video. I bought both steamdeck and rog before moving and lost them moving so I thought I would see if anything new has changed. I think you were to the point and talked about what matters
Ally X most flexible handheld. Armory crate, or boot to Bazzite, or Steam OS is a chef kiss. There is no limitation on this thing add that 80wat battery, 24gb ram and that 1tb full size SSD and a great speaker as well as 1080p 120hz VRR and the only handheld with AMFM.
I’ve made an X account for more gaming and handheld info

I own the go and im very happy with it, very glad I did not buy the other two, the screen size is so much better. Some cut scenes in games make the picture alot smaller on my go, id hate to imagine how small it must look on the ally x. Once you enable loss less or amfm2 etc, or just set the device to auto/performance mode, everything runs buttery smooth, diablo 4 i can get a good 80 to 100fps easy. gta 5 runs smooth as, everything is good.
I love my Go too. Unless you want the larger screen, you would like the others too. They are all solid devices.

It’s the simplicity for me that sells it, just turn it on and boom youre back in the game or whatever.
The other choices definitely require more tinkering and non- gaming activities to get the most out of them. SD is plug and play!
im very interested in both the power and battery life of the Rog Ally X, but man, that Steam OLED screen is just beautiful
My biggest problem with the X is the price, considering it is the exact same chip as the extreme and go. I guess you are paying for the battery and a number of minor improvements.
the ally x screen just looks so small to me idk
There's power almost everywhere now days. I would never play a Handheld triple AAA game without being plugged into a wall outlet. It's like ordering a burger without the fries n drink. You'd never be full and always regret not going the extra way. :D
@@24yrukdesigner I play plugged in 95% of the time.
@@MikeS-qk6gdExtra battery and more ram is what’s raising the price. But those two upgrades alone increase the usability of the device so much further than the original device itself uncanny.
Man its so nice to hear a voice that doesn't sound like everyone else on TH-cam. Voice is so good and chill.
100% agree.
This why I’m sticking with my LeGo till the the 2
You officially sold me
I love the Steam Deck.. but the only thing that still keeps me tied to the Steam Deck instead of Rog Ally X is the presence of the trackpad, which I find super comfortable and very useful in many games
I had the 3 of them and i fall in love with the legion go ❤
Lol. I had them lined up on the kitchen table playing the same game. Was a hard decision, but the Go also won me over. Returned the Ally.
I do not mind this but it is a big enough issue for them to have changed it on the X
Positives are it's size and buttons. There are almost as many accessories for the Ally as there are for the Deck which is a good sign of a healthy and bolstering market for it
Steam Deck OLED I would place in second place.
The other big negative of the Go is the audio. The speakers face up rather than at you. The Ally has far better sound.
@@MikeS-qk6gdDesign POV, where are you putting the speaker on the LeGo up front? The screen covers majority of the console, the controllers have options to detach, if you sit it to stand on its own, then having it at the bottom would be muffled.. the speakers just suck, not the placement.. I own one
I'm a steam deck guy but I have been thinking about getting a ROG Ally X.
I grabbed a legion go for WoW. It’s great being able to read the text, lol
I want to play wow on the go! Glad to know I’m not the only one.

I hate to admit that your profile pic got me. First time ive fallen for that in a while
Can't wait for a legion Go 2 🔥🔥
Same I’m kool with the LeGo for now
I sincerely recommend ally X at this point even just the ram and battery is super worth it. If you are someone who plays emulator you gonna need the extra ram. Windows 11 just use too much ram resource.
Sd is the best for emulation imo. Really great for that.
But it's so expensive.. Same cpu than ROG ally and I can get that one 2nd hand for 400 €
@diogor8968 that is the best deal going
@diogor8968 that's true but let me also explain my reasoning for not filling so guilty😅 rog ally 512gb ssd rog ally x 1tb upgrading will cost you like 80 to 100 depends in branding dollars to get a tb for the ally then on top of that the ally x you can use a sd card amen😂 then you also haver a usbc 4 port and a regular usb c port then more and faster ram which depending on if you going to stream edit emulate etc.... with the system that extra ram is needed since the 24gb is also shared with the graphic card aswell
Just got the ROG Ally for 350 bucks, its insane how low they are going
One of the best handheld content creator. 🙌💯
I didn't even know about the Legion Go until this video. Probably still going to get the Steam Deck though. Thanks for the info!
That's all stuff the Deck can do perfectly without having the pain of using Windows.
Yea, one of the reasons I got the ally because of wii u emulation
After 3 months of researching, your video help me to finally made the right decision. I can't thank you enough
Just ordered my ROG ALLY X I'm waiting patiently. I will do everything you've done with your ROG ALLY X. My Christmas came early.
Cyber, thank you for sharing your experience with these handheld devices. It helps when it comes to decision making. Keep them coming!
Literally the only channel I take seriously when you compair devices.
The Ally X is also the most expensive
Its worth it for the battery and ram and the amount of games you can run on this thing. You can emulate ALL other consoles until PS4. Get one open box or pre owned its worth it
@@jackykwan2580 what did you check for before buying an open box ally x? And how much did you get it for?
I mean it’s worth it
@@Kanafa-pb19xTbh you don’t need to do much checks as it’s the most premium build externally and internally. Check scratches, joysticks and maybe tell the owner to run diagnostics in MyASUS to be 100% sure.
fully worth it
I bought the original ROG Ally and I’m very happy with it.
My Rog ally x is the coolest thing I’ve bought in a while and I buy allot of shxt lol.. the Rog ally x the best piece of new technology.

I bought ally z1 extreme, 2nd hand. Thank you for making me feel less guilty about it 😅
Me too bought it secondhand 3 months ago. I have been having a blast. It is basically a portable PS4 for me with the bonus of playing PS2 games with better performance and upscaling.
Best deal out there right now!

It’s a shame there are no trackpads on the ally
Your videos are now my go-to for tech reviews. Non bias, straight to the point, no BS. I'll come back to this comment when u hit a million Subs! All the best!
Hey man I just subbed a couple videos ago and love your content. I really like how you review things from like a normal dudes perspective instead of just rattling off specs! Do you plan on reviewing other tech besides handhelds?
Man I totally want to but I want to take hold of the handheld market first
For me the X is a super worthwhile upgrade over the regular Ally.
Your channel is really growing! Congrats dude
Anything without a 80wh battery life shouldn't even be considered an on the go game console. I owned a steam deck and the Rog Ally z1 extreme and after buying the Ally x. Nothing yet gets close. Love the battery life it has to offer.
100% Agree
no OLED screen is a deal breaker for me. So at the moment, the only good choice for me is the Steam Deck OLED.
@@rh1747
Im loving my ally X and will be waiting for the next version with the Z2 chip
You just helped me out, thanks. I've really been contemplating upgrading my Ally Z1 extreme to the Ally X. I really want that improved battery, but until I see price reductions for Best Buy refurbished models at a decent price I'll stick to my extreme. Lord knows. As soon as I buy one the next version will come out.
The game changer features for me was the LegionGO controllers that can be detached and use like a windows tablet
I bought 2 months ago and love it.
I use for work in my clinic, if i have some time i play some game, this versatile is awesome
You've figured something out ngl the way your content plays out is top tier
heck yeah thanks
Thanks for your videos, it takes a lot of time and work to put them together. I went with the Ally X, got a returned one for Best Buy for a great price (just missing the power adapter and cardboard stand). Went with it for full gaming library, battery, memory expansion, size, and screen. I like OLED but the screen on the Ally X is pretty darn good. Also, it plays any game out right now at a decent frame rate. I do have to tweak setting each time I bring up a new game, that’s a drag.
i love your aura man really chill
Brilliant and incredibly helpful review. You covered everything I had questions on. Thank you!
I already know your a solid dude you got a Bon jovi album that’s awesome!
i agree with other people. your video format is freaking amazing. i didnt know chilling can be so good when reviewing. Holy..
I always watch you but never realized I wasn’t subscribed, just subbed !
I got the Ally X it’s pretty awesome, I like that I can emulate pretty easily now. Also waiting for the Switch 2 announcement so I can look forward to my next Gen Nintendo handheld experience.
Legion go’s screen has always been the most appealing to me, but it should have been oled
Waiting for someone to make that OLED mod for the legion go and beg them for it lol
Or mini-led, is beautifully similar to oled
It's the best and worst aspect of it. They should go for MiniLED next as that could be nice
Legion does not need to be Oled, Legion's display is very good and is just as good as the oled, remember Oled tends to have a lot of burning set in over time
Good to see your channel grows quickly!!! keep up the good work! 🤟
Great vid bro really needed a solid breakdown between the 3. I think I'm sold on the ally x
My guy.. this channel is gonna get big. My go to for gaming
People can like things over other things, there's no shame in that. Enjoy what you enjoy man.
Had both and returned the ally x. Legion go if you adjust the settings. You can most definitely play triple A games with the highest resolution. I have no lag or fps issues. Played cyberpunk, war zone etc. And never had any issues. Honestly runs as good as ally x.
Glad I found a chill channel to sub to, surprised to see only 21.4k. Keep it up and you'll skyrocket dude.
Dude thanks a lot man!!
Youre giving the review with chilling and everyone loves that!
Really thankful for your honesty, very helpful 👍
The Legion Go was on sale for $550 during Labor Day. I almost pulled the trigger, but saw the announcement for the Go 2.
Go2 has not been announced yet
good straight up review. Liked!
the video where you showed bazzite off sold me on getting a rog ally where I can boot into either system and get all the functions of the steam deck if I so choose. I love your videos btw
no joke best review i’ve watched on these, i think i’ve decided on the rog. love your vibe and content bro keep it up
Great video bro! Would love to see some content on ROG vs Steam Deck OLED purely playing NMS :) Please!
I even use it at work instead of bringing my laptop.
beautiful
Maybe small but the dual trackpads on steamdeck are something i cannot live without
Love the rings and bracelets bro. Genuinely. Your like the bodhi of Gaming😂😂
thank you algorithm, cant believe I saw this without skipping xD Nice review!!
and so many perspectives! very detailed and thorough.
Thats awesome thank you so much!
Yeh the the go is the win win for me, it's got removable controller so you can take off and hold them anyhow and play anyhow
Why the hell do you need a tiny screen for personal stuff during work?
I'm in IT as well. I'm in the market for a handheld. Is the legion go better than the rest in terms of using it as a PC as well? I wouldn't play intensive games more emulation than anything else so would you recommend the Go as an all round purchase?
My man, i thought i was the only one lol Take the legion to work and use it as my tablet while im on the help desk lol
@@iksoundssometimes your on standby waiting for tickets to come in, my boss tells me to learn when i dont have anything to do, good lil tablet
Thanks man , this is the best review and honest one 👏🏻
I'm curious to know . Which of the 3 allows offline playing. Like being able to install the game on your device and play it without being connected to Internet.
Which one would you recommend for emulation
Greetings from Mexico.
excellent review and comparison!
He made the right choice with the ROG ALLY X. Salute!
Windows OS was not my thing. I ordered a steamdeck instead. Too much tinkering with the legion go. Yes the bigger screen and resolution is nice, but sort of pointless if we can't play games on it and have to downscale to 800p and then the fonts get blurry and such. Well made video!
soon as i saw the ally x coming i nearly lost it as i got an oled early in the year. Now that you mention the Z2 chips coming later i feel relieved
If I only could have one, ally x with a 2TB drive and dual booted. I’m an enthusiast so I’m lucky to be able to have the deck oled and LEGO. I love them both but they are very different IMO.
yessssss he has uploaded!
Ally/X and Steam deck oled are tied in my eyes especially if u play more than online multiplayer games
I like your style of explaining.
You got +1 sub from me 😊
Good video. I bought both steamdeck and rog before moving and lost them moving so I thought I would see if anything new has changed. I think you were to the point and talked about what matters
Ally X most flexible handheld. Armory crate, or boot to Bazzite, or Steam OS is a chef kiss. There is no limitation on this thing add that 80wat battery, 24gb ram and that 1tb full size SSD and a great speaker as well as 1080p 120hz VRR and the only handheld with AMFM.
now i can confidently purchase the right ally 🎉
been thinking if steamdeck or rog ally X. thanks for this video. you gain a subscriber in me! :)
Me watching this on my Legion Go :((
Lol still would pick the Legion for the screen alone
Change nothing. Your content is perfect the way it is
I subbed my dog, love the video and the vibes
