Totally agree about PPE. My husband was diagnosed with a blood cancer last year.... chemicals like toluenes and benzenes have been connected to these blood cancers. Wear PPE your future self will thank you

Very wise words there Dave especially about the PPE. Too many people spend a fortune on car cleaning and paintwork protection products but spend absolutely naff all on protecting themselves. 🤦

Great video. Agree on the PPE. Splashed some rinseless wash in my eye which resulted in an infection and 6 weeks of treatment!

After being in this business for 40 years, its fair to say I have seen some changes. Apart from products and tools, TH-cam has really accelerated detailing into the multi million pound business it is today. May I add another mistake to your list ?
' Running before you can walk'.
Washing your'e own cars and your'e mates cars will not prepare you for the reality of running your own valeting/detailing service and getting paid as a professional. Yes, TH-cam is an excellent recourse, but investing in training will give the next generation of detailers a great foundation for success. So, my point is, invest in yourself before going out and spending money on flashy equipment and expensive chemicals just because Billy big balls on TH-cam says so. There might even be some companies out there who would offer some free training.
I hope i don't come across as all preachy, and Billy big balls is not in reference to you by the way.
An honest video from you again David.
    Peace and love brother. ✌

Very wise words my friend,I never use to wear gloves and for days I could smell the wheel cleaner on my hands now I've invested in some good quality pvc gloves 😁

Great call on the vapours and mists. Si 0 (ceramic) element used i many products isn't great to inhale. If it has a beading effect on water in your car it will do the same to the moisture lining your lungs !

Great tips for getting started definitely knowing your kit and more importantly the paint on a potential customers vehicle I always stressed a full decontamination on the first valet I ever did for a new customer.

The quickest ways to add protection, other than car shampoos with added wax or ceramic etc, is spray-on-rinse-off products like Autoglym rapid ceramic or DIY Detail quick beads. They are easy to use and can potentially last for several months

    Great video Dave!
I totally get what you're saying about Bar ratings, but newbies also forget that the flow from their own supply can have a great deal of an effect too.
Personally, and obviously this comes with experience, I completely disregard Bar ratings these days.
For me, the important info is flow rate. But then I don't think you even get those figures until you start looking at things like Kranzle's.

Dave this was another helpful and great video that some people regardless if they are seasoned detailers or beginners. These tips are helpful and will make them successful if they listen and don't do these 5 mistakes. Your right about chemicals and they can be harsh on metal alkaline or people don't understand how to properly use them Gloves I have always worn since there are some harsh chemicals that we as detailers use and I don't like touching some of the stuff in peoples cars. I have an affinity for being the dog hair whisperer and that can be some nasty stuff. Shampoo is more than just soap and having any of these soaps, waxes or other chemicals on your skin can have side effects. The power washer nozzle too close to a car is crucial and removing paint or damaging a car due to negligence or not being aware of the PSI that is being produce isn't a reason that an insurance company wants to hear let alone a customer. I also wanted to mention that on the internet/TH-cam or any other social media sites there are so MANY detailers giving advice and just because they tell you how to clean a car doesn't make them experts. You have the experience and explain why this could or could not work and that makes a difference. You are very helpful and you show us the mistakes you have made and what we can do to avoid them.
Thank you for taking the time to make a video of some mistakes that detailers may forget, or overlook. Have a great day from across the pond in Round Rock Texas!

Yes! Mile Deep’s ceramic foam (and their while lineup frankyl) is top top draw. It’s astonishingly durable for a foam applied product. It’s as hydrophobicity is insane and will genuinely live up to it’s claims

Looking forward to the ceramic foam video as I keep putting off buying some because I don’t think I’ve seen you use or review one yet, so wondered if they were actually worth the money. Also I watch salvage rebuilds uk, and Rob and Chris seem to swear by jennychem products, and to be fair they do seem to work. Wondering if you had any experience using them?
