You are spot on Dave, black paintwork oh the thought of it hence why I always go all out and use 2 buckets, I jet wash bottom part of vehicle wheel height down then traffic film ridding the stubborn tar etc, jet wash down then I do the 2 bucket wash, great video.

Hi! I’d like to make a suggestion for a next video: how to wash a car in a jet wash machine. I live in apartment, and don’t have access to pressure wash and stuff. Always carry my bucket, shampoo etc to the jet wash and try to wash as fast as I can’t and not bother other people. Love your videos, thanks!!!
I generally carry out a maintenance wash on a weekly basis and, for that, I use 1 car and 1 wheel bucket... However... If its been more than a week or if the car is particularly dirty, I will use 2 wash buckets as the pre-wash stage can only do so much! I still spend longer pre-washing than I do actually contact washing though!!
Yes - I use the one bucket method on my Honda Jazz - in fact I've always used it but I can see on an expensive car you might want that extra safety margin. I always give the car a thorough rinse, I apply minimal pressure with the wash mitt and use a decent shampoo. I also wash from top to bottom and I finish off the lower parts of the car with a separate wash mitt. My feeling about the 2BM is that the most damage must be done by the initial pass of the wash mitt over still contaminated paint so I tend to think getting as much crud off as possible before the contact wash is more important. Then again I could be talking b+++++ks. Another great video btw.
One bucket normally but after a couple of sections I give the mitt a blast with the pressure washer which is probably the same or if not more effective than the tbm. Especially this time of year when you can pickup small bits of leaves etc that you couldn’t see/remove when pre washing
One bucket methed, i use a shampoo snow foam on the car, and in the wash bucket so i get double bubbles the mit just glides over the car. ( It's my own car ).
Abit pointless if you do live on a farm constantly washing your car, I do follow a rigorous wash routine, rinse, wheels, Tfr on sides, arches and dirt, rinse, polar blast, rinse, snow foam wash on car and bucket, rinse, polar seal, rinse, towel dry. A bit much i think. Lol.
I'm one bucket, but I do take extra care, time and effort with the pre-wash. I can safely say that those GTechnic wash mitts are very good indeed. After a machine wash every time, they come up soft still after over a year of use and abuse. They do shrink a bit, so I treated myself to a black Friday deal and got a spare one in stock. I do always rinse the granny out of the mitt before washing in the machine.
One bucket, Have tried 2 buckets but like others say it takes time. Also, seems to me that even when you rinse, after a couple of dunks the rinse water is dirty anyway, so should it then get to a third bucket LOL! I do use a big valeting style bucket now and a grit guard, and I use a little extra shampoo for lube. I also keep mitts separate and follow a top down process.(learned by watching too much TH-cam :)) also ,keep a separate bucket and tools for wheels and arches. I wash the cars more often now, that shortens the time it takes when they are not too dirty. Pre rinse and wash according to the dirt. On a well protected car, I tend to dry it with water before the towel gets on it. 1 bucket. I’ve tried using 2 but it slows down my wash process and l end up with lots of water spotting, especially on warmer days. I get good results with a good pre-wash and careful use of 1 bucket with a couple of different wash mitts.

Another great video Dave. I would have turned up with sponge and chamois leather just for a laugh - when the owner asked for the special treatment. Do you remember Turtle Wax doing a car wash called Hot Wax that used to turn the sponges black. It actually left a hydrophobic finish. I use no buckets for speed. Just a spray bottle with diluted car shampoo which I spray onto the mitt and paintwork and then use Sonax BSD as a drying aid when drying the car with the microfibre towel. Ps the Tesla looked great after your efforts.
3 buckets. One, just for wheels. Seperate. Then two buckets, with grit guards, for a wash bucket and a rinse bucket for the panels. 4 wheel/tyre and wheel arch brushes. Long handled soft, for inside wheel arches etc. Short stubby handle soft for the rims and tyres face etc. Round detailer brush for the spokes, wheel nuts etc. Another skinny brush for getting behind the wheel or between the spokes etc. And a black microfiber mitt for hand washing. Green microfiber wash mitt for the panel wash, with the two buckets with grit guards. Better quality round detailers brush for intricate areas and around wing mirrors, grille, etc. Seperate round detailers brush for interior detailing and not even beginning to list the huge number of polish applicators, or seperate drying towels, etc. Glass, panels and trims. And this is just my daily driver and weekend fun, Ford Ranger 4x4
Multi mitt method. (One mitt per panel), some say it is better than the 2 bucket method because you are eventually going to have dirty rinse water. With multiple mitts you wont have that because you are using a clean mitt every time you clean a new panel.
I use the 2 bucket approach because if you treat each panel like dishes in your kitchen and you have 2 sinks, then it makes more sense if you understand the process and concept.
I always use plush microfiber wash mitts 6 in one bucket 🪣 then use them one on top and windows. One on bonnet and another for drivers side except for the very bottom. Passenger side, the boot then other for the bottom. Then rinse.
Spot on points Dave👍🏻 Hybrid Solutions ceramic spray wax I have found and use regular works best for me if I spray it into the microfiber towel then have a second towel handy to buff to perfection. Works for me. You can chase it with a damp cloth then wipe again with a dry towel but that’s 3 steps if you buff it off fast no need for the damp towel. Cheers 🇨🇦👍🏻 look forward to your next video.
Always 2 buckets for me even for maintenance washes however I do get why some only use one. I know some people say it takes longer but surely you’re only talking of a few minutes here or there but again I guess it comes down to personal choice in the end. I don’t think either method is right or wrong.
Well said. I had to do this video because I filmed a previous video week before at the same house for the same customer so wanted to highlight the fact that doesn't matter who the customer is they always chose something different for each car
Hi, great video as always, really nicely presented with loads of info. Quick Q for you please - we’re hoping to take delivery of a brand new car in a month’s time or so - metallic grey Jeep, and I wonder how to apply your video here to the 1st clean of this? I’ve acquired a decent range of cleaning/detailing products over the past wee while including Bilt Hammer DS Wax and snow foam, some PH neutral shampoo, fallout remover spray etc and have been practicing on our Passat recently. What tips could you give or do you have a more appropriate video for new car washes/detail you can point me towards? Thanks in advance!
I would say the methods are exactly the same whether it's a clean (ish) car or a dirty one. I have a good solid process that I always stick to. I made a mini series last year which focuses on how to videos so we cover pre wash, wheels , safe wash and drying. Thanks for watching Andrew 🙏
@@epicautomotivedetailing Cheers - I’ve been going through your videos recently picking up tips which I will continue to use and improve my technique ahead of the new car arrival. Thanks again!
Re the two bucket method. I have always put a hose head inside the mitt to rinse the noodle mitt and at the same time squeezing out the water. The reason I've done this is to push the dirt outwards rather than forcing it into mitt. What do you think??
I noticed that you used a TFR : Traffic Film Remover for the car paint . Is that the same as an iron remover? If I use a TFR for my paint , do I still need to use a separate iron remover for my paint? If I use a TFR, do I still need to use a separate car shampoo?
Hello sadly TFR won't remove iron particles. I use oh neutral so it's basically a snow foam alternative. It breaks down the dirt meaning less risk of scratching with a contact wash
@@natnut2008 I think it's very hard to find a cheap decent iron remover. Good brands to try, cartec, yum, bear car care, garage therapy are all brilliant
Great videos, I just wonder why pro's do not use an aqua blade to get 90% of the water off and then just dry what little remains? Kept in good storage they don't pick up stone chips either?
I used to two bucket but now 1 bucket as I do wash my car every week. A quick snow foam rinse, 1 bucket and spray wax. Romeo done. My car is near 13 years old. It's scratched beaten etc... But I do like washing it. Least it's a clean shiny beat up car lol.
Hi Is using ph neutral soap for prewash snow foam is useless? Or it fits the purpose of pre-wash? Does it remove more dirt than just using pressure wash only?
this is great but what cleaning chemicals am i using. Can someone give me a breakdown. Shampoo for wheels? Shampoo for exterior of car? What to use inside?
1 bucket (with grit guard) if using a pressure washer or hose as you can rinse the mitt with clean running water, 2 buckets (with grit guards) when running water isn't available
Hi. This is a general comment as I have just come across you channel and subscribed so not been following all you have to offer. Apologies if you have answered these comments before. My son has a van he has been using for courier deliveries. So it needs a clean and has minor scratches. Will doing the following rock your boat or should I be doing something different: Rinse off the car first to remove any loose dirt. Snow foam leave to soak then rinse Shampoo using hand mit with the two bucket method then rinse Clay bar with lubrication. Compounding then Turtle wax 75th anniversary version.
If it's a white van it would still look ok. It won't be perfect but not everyone has that eye for perfection and I don't blame them. With vans I never go too mad as they always get wrecked
I tried both 1 and 2 bucket method. For me, if my car isn't really that dirty I'll go one bucket. If it's shitty dirty I'll go two. Wheels first is my lesson learnt here.
Hello Dave Hi Dave I have a question I have diamond cut alloy wheels that have curb scuff marks and scrapes, some old and some not so,. Am I at risk of getting loose debris from the alloy trapped in my wheel cleaning wash mitts and other similar tools for cleaning my wheel? Probably a stupid question I just have no idea about these sorts of things and I have watched your video about keeping clothes free from debris so you don’t damage car body paint Please help! Lol

@@marksmith3469 g101 is ok on carpets but Larry at ammo NYC did a video explaining why it doesn't work the way it should. I tried cartec textile cleaner the other day and was blown away. Never seen anything like it
I don’t use or trust mitts or sponges. They are difficult to get into tight spots during the wash. I use one soap bucket with about 10 microfiber cloths. I wash one or two panels and throw the towel in a rinse bucket and rinse the panel with the hose. Pull out another clean soapy rag, wash another panel or two, rinse the panel and throw the dirty rag in the rinse bucket. Repeat until the car is washed. I’ve only used clean towels throughout the wash, no mitts holding dirt, no mitt rinsing or stopping. Then, I blow dry with my electric leaf blower (want to get a Bigboi dryer), then spray with Xpress wax and wipe softly with plush edgeless MF cloth to a clean, shiny finish. Done. Oh, and I always do wheels first with soft brushes and clean MF rags and woolies. I dry wheels with the blower and I wipe down rims with xpress wax with edgeless MF cloth and wipe tires with water based dressing (Optimum).
I got the bigboi Mini and its now sparking so its bit dangerous. Although its powerful the cables get twisted so easily didnt last year before going wrong. I simply couldnt be bothered to waste time sending it back (the laziness lol) I have seen few people try just washing with mitts. Think larry at Ammo NYC did that in a video once. Hopefully im trying the new DetailGuardz soon fingers crossed!
For the washing process I use 2 buckets, 5 mitts. Car shampoo and 5 mitts in one bucket and the other bucket is empty. Each mitt is used once on both sides then discarded into the empty bucket. There is no way swirls can be introduced!! Lloyd
Great video pal 👌👍 Might cound controversial or not but we stopped doing 2 bucket method a while back 🤔I bet you wonder why 😂 Full pre wash stage, apply shampoo via a lance and only 1 bucket for cleaning out the wash mitt after few passes on the paintwork, replace water half way trough the process - this works better then 2 bucket method in my opinion 👍 i bet this opens can of warms 😂😂😂😂😂😂
My car gets washed on av every 10 days due to work so always a 2 bucket wash after tfr on the lower plenty of water normal hose no preasure washer very few wash scratches last about six months then a hand polish then lsp a quick detail every 3rd wash thats me
I've watched on TH-cam that Turtle Wax Ice Seal and Shine Spray Sealant is superior to Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Wax Spray Sealant as it is more durable and is cheaper as well.
Brilliant video, I'm going to use the 2 bucket method from now on. We treated ourselves to a classic Mercedes-Benz SLK it's a deep blue colour and I'm finding it difficult to keep smear free, I know I've been doing things wrong after watching this, hopefully next time I wash it it'll come out beautifully clean ! 👍🏻
Most people would say no but i think it does. If you think about colours like silver or white dont reflect the light in the same way as darker colours do when you get swirls or scratches so in my opinion 100% yes. Think paintwork like white can be more forgiving with one bucket method but then those colours show more polluted fallout from the air so its swings and roundabouts really as they say! Thanks Leslie
I'm a 1 bucket man with grit guard, I try my best to be safe though. Both our cars are work horses, school runs and children, country roads forever pulling over to let others by etc nightmare. But black cars are a nightmare they swirl so easy.
100% true Stephen, if i had a decent car i would always do the 2 bucket method wash but because my car gets trashed by the kids and the dog etc i just use the one bucket method! Where abouts are you watching from? UK?
What did you think of the Model X? I valeted one the other day and hated it!! Two BucketI need to do!
Thanks Kenny I've nearly finished another video on turtle wax ceramic sealant as I made some bad judgement on it so want to rectify it.
Thanks for the great videos What wheel cleaner do you suggest for Black wheels. Thanks again Stuart
Thanks my friend. Depends on scenario. I like yum wheels, autoglym professional wheel cleaner, infinity Wax wheel shampoo
@@epicautomotivedetailing Cheers Dave. Much Appreciated Stuart.
Can you recommend a cheap but effective iron remover?
@@natnut2008 I think it's very hard to find a cheap decent iron remover. Good brands to try, cartec, yum, bear car care, garage therapy are all brilliant
Nice explanation! Where can I buy brushes for the detail cleaning?
Great videos, I just wonder why pro's do not use an aqua blade to get 90% of the water off and then just dry what little remains? Kept in good storage they don't pick up stone chips either?
Aqua blade??? No way too risky on nice cars. I understand if people aren't too fussed about their own vehicles though
Brilliant video Dave, looks clean already with the pre wash and wash, part 2 I will stay tuned for it.
Part 2 is coming soon. Im filming something mind blowing tomorrow hopefully. Have dropped a cheeky hint on my instagram story
And thank you as always Steven!
Yeah same as I only use one bucket on my own car as mines is wrecked
Great video mate I use the 1 bucket method still does a good job keep safe mate
That's cool if it works for you and your expectations then that's all that matters thank you for watching Martin. And hello from me ✋🇬🇧
Hi
Is using ph neutral soap for prewash snow foam is useless?
Or it fits the purpose of pre-wash?
Does it remove more dirt than just using pressure wash only?
Its only good for cars that are extra special
I bought a professional wash brush from a car detail supply place. Screwed it onto a mop handle & I can wash my car pretty quickly. No scratches.
... what did you say about acid-wheel cleaners? I didn't quite get that.
this is great but what cleaning chemicals am i using.
Very good point 👏
Should u put water first on rims or can u just straight
Clean with spray
I'd love that you show us how to best clean a soft roof top from a convertible. Thanks :-)
100% its on my list
Hi. This is a general comment as I have just come across you channel and subscribed so not been following all you have to offer. Apologies if you have answered these comments before. My son has a van he has been using for courier deliveries. So it needs a clean and has minor scratches. Will doing the following rock your boat or should I be doing something different:
Rinse off the car first to remove any loose dirt. Snow foam leave to soak then rinse
Shampoo using hand mit with the two bucket method then rinse
Clay bar with lubrication.
Compounding then Turtle wax 75th anniversary version.
If it's a white van it would still look ok. It won't be perfect but not everyone has that eye for perfection and I don't blame them. With vans I never go too mad as they always get wrecked
Hi great video
What is the name of the clean bucket and where can I get it
I tried both 1 and 2 bucket method. For me, if my car isn't really that dirty I'll go one bucket. If it's shitty dirty I'll go two.
Wheels first is my lesson learnt here.
Definitely. Especially in the summer. I always focus on wheels then get the bucket and brushes well away to reduce faffing about
Hi
Is pre-wash with ph neutral soap is alot better than only prewash with water?
Hello Dave
Hi Dave I have a question I have diamond cut alloy wheels that have curb scuff marks and scrapes, some old and some not so,. Am I at risk of getting loose debris from the alloy trapped in my wheel cleaning wash mitts and other similar tools for cleaning my wheel?
Probably a stupid question I just have no idea about these sorts of things and I have watched your video about keeping clothes free from debris so you don’t damage car body paint
Please help! Lol
what microfiber cloth do you use, is it the one from chemical guys? i just have bad experiences with microfiber cloth they always leaves stains
Depends on the vehicle but mostly I only use one bucket been doing this for 38 years never damaged one yet...
Hello Shane, Recognise the name from the facebook group. Power to you my friend!
Where can you get a hose attachment like he has?
One bucket method for me I clean mine ever two weeks what is the best method to get mud off carpets drivers foot mat and carpet
Every 2 weeks we'll done. I'm lucky if I ever clean mine I'm too busy filming videos for the channel. Thanks for watching mate
@@epicautomotivedetailing I try and do mine every two weeks generally I am doing it this week if it not raining and going to clean my carpets with g101 tomrrow hopefully lol
@@marksmith3469 g101 is ok on carpets but Larry at ammo NYC did a video explaining why it doesn't work the way it should. I tried cartec textile cleaner the other day and was blown away. Never seen anything like it
Do you use soapwater for this?
Always one bucket and have had no issues. Can’t stand driving a dirty car so wash mine every 2 or 3 days weather permitting!
thats good. Wish i could do mine every few days! Lots of people do just use the one bucket method its quite interesting to see
@@epicautomotivedetailing what some people do is they rinse the microfibre wash mitt with a hose
@@CL4SSiCS yeh seen that happen. Definitely something I should feature in a video to look at the pros and cons
@@epicautomotivedetailing yeah if I’m washing a dirty car I would rinse the mitt with the pressure washer instead of the two bucket method
Hey Dave, would you recommend turtle wax 4 in 1 shampoo? I’ve seen it for under a tenner which is 5 quid cheaper than its usual price 👊🏻
One bucket multiple mitts or lods of microfiber, try microfiber it's great for washing cars even wheels
nice one thanks for sharing the tip
What is the appropriate PSI to use when washing a car so it won’t damage the paint ?
I wouldn't worry too much. As all paint is different anything you kind of just know how close or how long you can hold a pressure washer on there for
I don’t use or trust mitts or sponges.
My car gets very dirty so I use two buckets and 3 wash mits. Probably a bit unnecessary after a good prewash, but it works.
Hello did you do any training face to face ?
I love the idea of 2 buckets ♥️
Great vid
Thank you
For the washing process I use 2 buckets, 5 mitts. Car shampoo and 5 mitts in one bucket and the other bucket is empty. Each mitt is used once on both sides then discarded into the empty bucket. There is no way swirls can be introduced!! Lloyd
one unless requested or needed then three bucket method
2 is enough for me 😅
Great video pal 👌👍 Might cound controversial or not but we stopped doing 2 bucket method a while back 🤔I bet you
wonder why 😂 Full pre wash stage, apply shampoo via a lance and only 1 bucket for cleaning out the wash mitt after few passes on the paintwork, replace water half way trough the process - this works better then 2 bucket method in my opinion 👍 i bet this opens can of warms 😂😂😂😂😂😂
The Can worms has been opened 😂 that sounds like a good way of doing it.as long as the car looks good 🇬🇧👏
Another video to watch when I finish work.
What do u do for a living that must be tough working nights

Nice video mate 👍
It all depends on what the customer wants or the state of the car! 2 buckets 80% of the time 🌈🌈🌈
Yes my thoughts exactly Philip. Thanks for commenting my friend 😊
Great car! 🔥
1 bucket soap, 1 bucket rinse, 1 bucket rinse again before soap. Rinse buck very dirty and a less dirty. Try it!!
My car gets washed on av every 10 days due to work so always a 2 bucket wash after tfr on the lower plenty of water normal hose no preasure washer very few wash scratches last about six months then a hand polish then lsp a quick detail every 3rd wash thats me
I haven't cleaned mine in about 10 months 😅
Definitely 2 bucket since I was made aware of it! Just makes sense to me unless you drive a complete shed!! 🤣
Lucky for me i drive a shed lol
@@epicautomotivedetailing 🤣🤣, I’m not going to live that one down am I!

What products I need
Can you still wash your car on the street? Or are there pollution laws against it now?
Two bucket but gonna try one bucket with multi towels method
Nice one 👌
1 bucket 6 wash mitts. Find its clean water all the time.
Thats an interesting method. Love hearing these, Keep them coming!
I've watched on TH-cam that Turtle Wax Ice Seal and Shine Spray Sealant is superior to Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic Wax Spray Sealant as it is more durable and is cheaper as well.
I'm so on this next week thanks for the heads up 👍
Epic vid. Just realised you have extendable legs 04:51 in vid you are so much taller than before
Our cars aint the best but i like to use the two buckets, just like to keep the paint the best i can.
If I had a nice car and didn't live on a muddy farm I would use the 2 bucket. But I can't Knock it I love the countryside
one bucket for the dailey bucket car
Brilliant video, I'm going to use the 2 bucket method from now on. We treated ourselves to a classic Mercedes-Benz SLK it's a deep blue colour and I'm finding it difficult to keep smear free, I know I've been doing things wrong after watching this, hopefully next time I wash it it'll come out beautifully clean ! 👍🏻
Wheel bucket, snow foam followed by 2 bucket wash on our black cars. Could the colour of your car influence whether you use 1 or 2 buckets?
Most people would say no but i think it does. If you think about colours like silver or white dont reflect the light in the same way as darker colours do when you get swirls or scratches so in my opinion 100% yes. Think paintwork like white can be more forgiving with one bucket method but then those colours show more polluted fallout from the air so its swings and roundabouts really as they say! Thanks Leslie
When you wash a car in the sun is it the UV or the heat from the sun that damages the paint in direct sunlight when its wet?
I snow foam the car wash it with my wash mit and just use a clean bucket of water to wash the mit 👌
Nice one do what works for you
Since 1st hearing of the 2 bucket method at the start of the year it's 2 buckets all the time, and separate 1 for wheels l_l l_l ⚙️ l_l
Some people use the no bucket method. Think I got limits so not sure I'll try that one 😬. Thanks for watching 😊
two bucket all day knowledge is power not much more effort and loads safer
Can you get your car products in the United States

2 Buckets for me Mate!!
If it works for you that great! Thank you Diego!
GREAT VIDEO! (I'm a shouting factory worker)
single bucket
Thanks Mate
I'm a 1 bucket man with grit guard, I try my best to be safe though. Both our cars are work horses, school runs and children, country roads forever pulling over to let others by etc nightmare. But black cars are a nightmare they swirl so easy.
100% true Stephen, if i had a decent car i would always do the 2 bucket method wash but because my car gets trashed by the kids and the dog etc i just use the one bucket method! Where abouts are you watching from? UK?
@@epicautomotivedetailing Herefordshire in the UK yeah. Love the tips, especially the flunky on the windows. Could never get my windows 100%.
One bucket, Dave - vw Touran workhorse! 😜
What did you think of the Model X? I valeted one the other day and hated it!! Those stupid rear doors with all the nooks and crannies, trying to clean the edges while they're up in the air, that naff rear spoiler that just gathers crap underneath, and don't even mention the size of that windscreen which stretches halfway across the roof!! 😡
I loved it mate, apart from the rear doors it's got great curves but bad paint. But there is something about that I love. The fart button on the indicator and seats was a laugh. I love the creativity of Tesla 👍
