A sense of shame is a very underrated human value.

This is the first time I've heard a really kind and measured explanation of Shame that ALSO includes a fair and positive look at Shame itself. Like, rather than "guilt is good shame is bad" Shame also serves a purpose, it's powerful, its effective, it's meant to be used carefully- rarely/safe.

I learned more in this couple of minutes about the fundamentals of shame than the couple of hours of other videos on the subject that I just listened to.

Good vid. The book "30 Days to Overcome Shame" by Harper Daniels, was also a big help.

Because I think a lot about what other people think about me.
And when I act or behave badly in front of them, even if it was unintentional, I feel ashamed.

Yeah, shame is a necessary human emotion, because a person with no shame is a person that could do bad things more easily, without the shame it would go in a bad direction. At the same time having no shame means that you could be more expressive when doing a good thing, at least how I interpret it. Bye 👋🏻

I feel like pride is the opposite of shame but both are just as destructive.

I’m interested to find out where the modern hand gesticulation came from? Most speakers, bloggers etc. use their hands in the most peculiar and annoying manner, shaking them at each syllable, making weird shapes etc. as if they’re talking to deaf people, using their hands - where does this come from? I see it everywhere in the world, it’s like people copy each other, but who started it?? If anyone can explain this phenomenon - I’ll be so grateful. Thank you
P.S I’ve watched this video three times but still didn’t get what she was talking about because her hands are so distracting and annoying
