I hate watching "cringey" things or shows that have embarrassing elements (a really common thing in many shows for kids and teens) because I always felt so dang embarrassed for the characters, so I usually just left the room. I think that's the main reason why I stopped watching shows entirely, I just couldn't deal with that awkwardness

Great video. I have depression and anxiety. Sometimes „protagonist disease” gives me social anxiety, but when I’m depressed it changes to “sonder” and I’m feeling like the world with all those complex lives keeps turning around me while my life is just empty and irrelevant to others. I feel like my ideology is changing constantly from one extreme to another.
I know it's been ten months since you wrote this comment but after seeing zero replies I just had to reply to you (I don't really do this often).
Of course we are both internet strangers that barely know anything from each other, like me not knowing the origins of the issues that you are facing currently.
All I know is, that we both feel the same thing.
I've always been a quiet person since the start, but stuff has gotten worse over the years (call it bad experiences).
That thing you said, about the complex lives that are turning around you while your life was "empty" and "irrelevant", I know that feeling too damn well.
You might think, that you haven't accomplished anything or anything worth mentioning, but you are wrong. It just depends on your perspective.
We simply exist in a time, where we constantly worry about achieving all of our major goals as fast as possible.
Something that is flat out unrealistic due to the sheer amount of possibilities that are put on a person (and our interests shifting over time).
And with the ideologies shifting from one extreme to another, that's just social media for you. None of that stuff should take up any more of your attention than it already has.
So as corny as this may sound, just remember that you are the hero of your own story while others are their own as well.
I know this feeling of yours won't change immediately from one day to another, but it will slowly over time if you keep the right mentality up (it's not impossible).
And if you don't think you can do it by yourself, then that's completely fine. Everyone, and I mean everyone needs a helping hand at times, some people can just hide it very well.
Be the hero of your own story, internet stranger! While I try to be my own as well.

I remember exactly where I was when I first acknowledged sonder. I was on a roundabout looking at cars on a shopping trip with my mum and I was mindblown by it.
I’ve overcome awkward interactions with pure confidence and enthusiasm. Making myself comfortable with it eventually helps the other person overcome the awkward feeling.

I think I started getting sonder a few years ago. I remember the time I saw one kid walk into his house one day when I was walking home, and then I thought, that kid is probably experiencing the same thing as me, walking home, ready to relax and play games, go to school again, live out a life. We later became friends, although the friendship didn't last long because we never talked during the summer. Now, every time I walk past someone, make eye contact with someone and quickly look away, or see someone in the distance, I remind myself that they are also living a life, thinking about stuff, and probably also thinking about me and what I thought about them when we walked by. And then, sometimes at night, I think of my struggles, then remind myself that there are 8 BILLION people in the world who also had struggles just as hard as mine, or even much worse. Every person who has seen my videos or subscribed to me also did that while watching TH-cam, like I am right now and are currently doing stuff as we speak, every youtube I watch is doing something right now and living a life, everyone is someone.
I love how Michael puts things into perspective. I always leave his videos feeling better about life in general. Thanks awkward bro

You just repeat what you already know, you dont need to work to hard either physically or mentally. The only downside is that kids can be shits but just like patients at the doctor or people buying at the shop or getting a taxi etc. Basically in most jobs you encounter people who will make your job harder/more annoying from time to time

They work harder than they need to for their pay just so we get good grades that allow us to earn way more than they ever will. I have a huge amount of respect for good teachers. The fact they work harder than they need to for our benefit is so generous.
Things to remember:
Negativity Bias - we remember and subconsciously give more weight/value to negative experiences and emotions than we do to positive
Protagonist Disease - Thinking we are the center of the universe
Fundamental Attribution Error - when evaluating situations, you view yourself as a complex character, when posed with the same situation, you judge others as just that one simple mistake/success
Sonder: seeing other people's as having as vivid lives as the ones we see ourselves, and understanding that we are a blip in their universe
Being confident in our awkwardness, while also looking down in submission to the social order of things (etiquette, being normal) helps reintegrate (welcome) ourselves into the social ranks.
It tells other people you want to work together, and that you're mostly innocent. All of which conveys trustworthiness. Owning who you are with confidence and not running away from it, be it social errors or failing, is key here. People who aren't confident seem untrustworthy, because they look like they're hiding something by not owning who they are, what they say, or do. Which could be malicious.

The problem is those judgey people. We have all encountered that one stuck up person who when we make a mistake or accidentally say something awkward they will say "thats awkward " and make things even more awkward. That moment lasts 100 years or it feels like it. We feel like we messed up and in the future we remember how life changing that moment so we try to avoid it but in the process we just become more awkward, it's a viscous cycle.

I've been in that handshake-Fistbump dilemma way too often. Last time it happened I shook the other persons fist.
FarHowling try to use handshakes for first impressions or your boss or for formal occasions, use the fist bump for friends. Its also easier to stick to one type instead of changing.
I usually make the decision that we are adults and we will shake hands. If they go for a fist bump I just say, "nah, shake my hand." so they're wrong.
The best way to avoid that situation is not to change. If the other person goes in for a fistbump and you go in for a handshake, most often both of you will change. If you put out your hand, just keep it there and let the other person shake your hand.
where I am handshakes are standard when in business or meeting acquaintances and colleagues. Even among friends we greet with a handshake-to-hug or a standard handshake to backpat or standard handshake.
Fistbumps are dated and impractical (usually miss lol) so they're rarely used in my area. Go for the Handshake, less awkward
Never experienced it myself. I have, however, experienced high five-fistbump mixups. And those tend to get awkward, no matter how much you try to joke it off. :p
