brooo that’s so crazy…. space mountain is my fav ride and i would LOVE to get to ride with the lights on. i feel like it would make the ride less fun tho 😟
it def is, the ride is a LOT slower than you think but the darkness is what makes you think you’re going fast. the lights break that illusion but it’s honestly super cool getting to see the diff between lights on and lights off.
Thankfully the first time I rode this in 1980, perfect space mountain experience. My Grandfather had built it up as possibly real space flight. I spent the entire day as a 7yo asking if we could go again. When my grandfather finely relented and we waited an hr in So Cal summer sun only to be ushered out of our seats right before take off, lights completely on. I cried and a cast member asked if we would like to still ride lights on. It was nothing like the first ride and just about ruined EVERYTHING for me. You mean, that's all it is, I kept asking? Are all the rides this way? The illusion had been ruined. On the ride home back to San Berdoo, I swear to God I figured out my Grandfather was having an affair with the dental hygienist who worked in his office based on the way he lied about her and the ride at space mountain Everybody lies. A hard lesson to learn at the happiest place on earth.
This would be interesting. I just returned from my first week long orlando theme park whirlwind vacation at age 50. Out of everything I rode all week, space mountain was the only ride I walked away from in pain. Still loved it though and nearly no wait time!
I’ve been to Disney probably near 20 times. As a kid I couldn’t go on it but somehow I’ve stilll never been on it at 21 years old. Next time I go that’s the first thing I’m doing in magic kingdom
@@mercedeshall3306for some reason when i was younger, i had a thought that some worker decided to put saws on it and my head would get cut off, or if i put my hands up, my fingers would break cuz of how “close” the bar feels
I’m 5 feet tall and always feel the need to duck when riding Space Mountain. Something tells me getting to ride it with the lights on would only confirm this fear 😅
This ride almost 50 years old! I remember being a kid waiting in line and watching the asteroids fly above. One looked like a giant cookie 🍪
That's cause it was hahah I remember that too

Bruh you on drugs or something lmao
This story is so sad
And here I am awaiting the day I get a cascade mid ride and get to see the building the lights on in person...
I think mine are space mountain and Indiana jones! I love them all

We accually saw thattoo
I got to do this when I was a Cast Member, it's a totally different experience
This is my fav ride but my sister hates it and I can’t go without her 😢

Did that a couple years ago at a special pass holder event..After years of riding SM I never realized how close the rides beams were.
The first time we went to disneyworld in 1987 they were working on space mountain. We were rather upset but we did get to see it with the lights on.
There’s scary cameras 💀
how do you ride it with the lights on?
I got to do this once!!
I really can't go on there again without dying 😭 but seeing it with the lights on is cool
Screw seeing it with the lights on, I’ve gotten to RIDE it with the lights on :)
But yeah… now I constantly feel in need of ducking on the ride tho 😭😭
I’ve always ducked on it 😂 it scares me that it is pitch black and I can’t see what’s on top of me. Feels like I’m going to hit my head on a metal bar
I duck on it with the lights off.

They're closing space mountain forever in 7 days 😢
I’ve ridden it with the lights. Not as fun but interesting.
Can’t tell me it doesn’t look like the train around the Pillar in Midgar
Been there, done that.
When you realize this happened 12 years ago....twice.....bust
@@typirate1983 It was 1997 or 1998.
Been on it with lights on and it completely ruined the ride for me
i haven’t, i feel like i wouldn’t hate it, it would just be different. it would just be something i would do only once
It is light on when they r talking photo

I hated that ride w/ the lights on. Much better in the dark.
But have you ridden Space Mountain with the lights on? Even cooler is with all lights and effects off!
Shortest short ever.
Paris version is 100 times better than this lol…
It ruins it
Ric Flair's space mountains much sweeter if you know what I'm saying little lady 😂😜
