Finally an actual good contra game, we haven't seen one of those in over 2 decades.
Since Uprising and I miss it
contra 4 is from 2007 and the uprising does not count as good games, because they really are excellent contra
I do not know why the critics dumped all over this game. It is super nostalgic, extremely fun and very well made! I never could understand why the newer critics (ones who grew up solely on ps2 or later consoles) have such issues with 2D games and platformers like side scrolling games and the like. If the game is not absolutely perfect (like cuphead or hollow knight) then they seem to always find some kind of problem with the game. This game took me back to not only the Nintendo Contra game but the arcade version, the snes version and the newer game that came out for the PS2. They did a good job in my opinion and I am a huge fan of this game.
I also think Contra 4 and Hardcorps Uprising are both good Contra games~~
@@ludotoyhunter8492 I think people nowadays think that finish the game once and that it. But Contra was never about just beating every stages. It's about enjoy running through them again.
I find the music kind of funny. It starts off with a remix from the original Contra but later on sounds like it took tunes from Castlevania and even Twin Bee

I loved that the final boss is a reimagined version from one of the final bosses in Contra series while still retaining some of it's designs
That took me for a ride. I was like "oh, I guess the final boss is just gonna be Gomeramos King" then bam!

I wish they re -added black viper from contra 4 as a miniboss inside of gava. Ya know as a miniboss and yes you might say that's disgusting but
Contra has alot of disgusting things in it that totally don't make my skin crawl
Black Viper would be cool! They got bosses from all sorts of Contra entries
The final boss is actually supposed to be a souped up Java, the giant xenomorph head you'd fight in the original Contra.
Wayforward decided to give him the Black Viper treatment and give him a full ass body.

you keep pressing the weapon switch button yourself, or it is an skill of Probotector (haven’t purchased it yet)?
Any character can do the weapon switch technique. It's easier to do it here than previous games. Just hold fire and tap the switch weapon button
I was surprised that Wayforward brought back the pick-up aame weapon twice to make it even strong from the arcade game.

How does the fast weapon switching work in contra? Do you do more damage then normal
It drastically reduces recovery frames for certain weapons thus increasing fire rate and increasing damage output

Why is the music from Castlevania instead of Contra? Do you hate the current Soundtrack of this game? EDIT: Just watched the whole video, I'd guess there is a way to have it play classic Konami Music in this game. Not sure how thought but nice touch but the Castlevania Music is so out of place. 2nd Edit & for the last time: It appears there is a special feature in this game that will detect any saved data from the Konami collection games in the past to play any of the classic music from the classic Konami games. Nice touch. Also thanks for posting this clip so I can figure out how to beat the bosses in this game.
Castlevania music pack as well as other music packs (Contra 4 music pack) in Contra OG is one of the many Perks unlockable for use in Arcade/Challenge Mode.
Yesssir! I wanted to include some bonus tracks. The default OST is forgettable. I'm growing fond of the Vania or Contra 4 mix

The sound of castlevania, nice
gameplay looks great but personally i dont like this stages theme, i do much prefer hard corps style stage theme, the city in chaos, industrial factories and that style they were much more atmospheric specially pointing out dark scifi, galuga stage design is kinda too colorful/positive for me.
hopefully in future versions we see some hard corps style stages
I do like the Hard Corps stages as well. I will let this one go though since it's a re imagining of the 1st game.

Very well played but with upgraded C and switching weapons it looks some kind of easy? They should fix that switching weapons glitch and remove upgrading weapons in harder difficulties to make it challenging.

@@MegaYoYo mmm, a replayable arcadey Contra experience that is… at least three hours long and has some unlockables that include characters, concept art, etc. Ideally - a roguelike/Endless mode that throws random terrain/weapons/enemies my way that should be completed in one-go. But I know that’s too much to ask for in the base game release.
@@MegaYoYo I am VERY iffy on buying anything from Konami ever since MGSV TPP in 2015, hence why I am asking, because WayForward are a decent dev.
@@viewtiful1doubleokamihand253Those are great ideas though. There is a lot of replayability here with unlockable characters, perks, and a challenge mode. Have yet to do anything in challenge mode though.
@@MegaYoYo Ohhh, that sounds really nice anyway. WayForward is a decent developer. I'm just really iffy about buying anything with Konami's logo on it, ever since the middle of the last decade, hence why I'm asking...
Challenge mode is good enough too. Dotemu-released beat-'em-up games scratched my itch really good. And most of them have great side modes.

@MegaYoYo Oh gee. I hope not. I already don't like OG for a number of reasons, and I surely don't want the next game to follow in its footsteps. This is coming from someone who grew up with the old series.

@MegaYoYo Oh. Sorry if I never responded to this, but I was so busy, and I needed time to think this through. The story is a complete mess and is derivative from the original source material to the point that it doesn't feel the same as the original. I'm also not a huge fan of the visuals tbh. They make the whole game come across as cheap-looking and plasticky.
The new story that they invited for this game not only comes across as an absolute mess, but it also feels like a complete betrayal to the original storyline established since the first game. Shattered Soldier, Contra 4, or even Neo Contra feel like they provide enough closure for this series since the original storyline is pretty much done, at least in the case of the PS2 games. There's no need to keep rebooting the games over and over again.
Either way, Contra should have stayed dead a long time ago since its story is already completed and that there's no need to keep dragging this IP to the ground and milking it dry. Especially when it comes to the more recent crap that we got after Uprising.

It was dead since 2007/2009. I had a great time playing a new and solid Contra game again after so many years of nothing or crap games like Evolution.
Is this new or am I late?! Uprising is the last Contra I remember dropping. 1, Super C, Hard Core, 3 & Uprising got many hours of playtime from me

They're blackholes that suck up enemy projectiles and even sucks enemies into it as well.
Crush weapon lvl 2. Their mini black holes that swallow up certain projectiles

I guess that since both Contra and Castlevania belong to the same company, they just use their scores to avoid making new ones? Or basically to click on the attention of the other game subconsciously to keep the gamers interested in both games simultaneously.
Konami has included several of their soundtracks. Mostly 8 bit games. These include Contra, Super C, Castlevania 1-3, Gradius, etc

40$ is alot. I'm not gonna lie. Especially in the same month that Dragons Dogma is coming out for 70. Games be getting expensive. I clapped 40 but it's a franchise that I hold near and dear. I also budgeted for this one.
