It's great to see this game, which made even Koreans like me happy, return after so many years. I remember renting this game on the NES.... but the difference between the original levels (completely barren) and the ones in this new version (with TONS of details) and the overall difference of style between the two is so stark that I can't even recognize the game. *I am not complaining about it though, it looks great and I really enjoyed the demo. Will definitely buy it.*
I like how the new game shows the characters ascent into the Laurasia headquarters. You can see the height of stages change. Going from the docks to being the in floating airbase. They did a great job with this one
Those dragon statues in Emperor Garuda's boss arena aren't just for show. if you try climbing down one of the ladders, one of dragon statues will shoot a lightning ball at you.
I completely forgot this game is remade and from what I see, it is a great improvement. The Golden Samurai especially not as mindnumbing as the old one with second phase. Definitely gonna buy it since I remember it on Switch.
Some NES soundtracks are simply timeless, like this one. Another one difficult to beat is the Japanese Castlevania 3 (which uses the VRC6 chip). Everybody tried, Konami included, nobody succeeded.

Me too, I had a cartridge with Kage and Double Dragon 2, which you switched with Reset. I think the "sensualization" of Kaede was unnecessary (common on Sega titles but very uncommon on Nintendo), but I understand. The target audience for this game are those of us who played the original when we were 10-11, and now we are mid-40s.
I remember me and my sister playing this game, so underrated for sure. I got the remake and it's really good, my only wish is that they'd give us the option to choose between retro and modern soundtrack like they did for Streets Of Rage 4

I mean, I'd choose OG over the weird remake every time. I wish they would just rerelease non Nintendo branded NES games for other consoles. Metalstorm, Kickmaster, Shadow of the Ninja, Powerblade, Shatterhand. All of these are third party NES games that Nintendo stopped caring about 30yrs ago.
I'd love to see Power Blade remade in this style, because the mecha and the cyberpunk aesthetic are really beautiful and successful. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the redesigned redesign of the Characters all in roundness and modern anime style, I would have preferred an 90's Cyberpunk OVA aesthetic (like bubblegum crisis, dominion tank police, Appleseed Ninja Scroll, etc etc...) for the characters. That's why I hope that if there is a remake of Power Blade 1 & 2, the developers will keep the Arnold Schwarzenegger aesthetic of the main character.
I have to say the NES version is way way better. Replay value is everpresent. I played the new remake and it is meh. Clunky movements and bad remodeling of bosses and levels. The only remake I admired was ninja turtles.
Lets start OG first then try remake, Remake is like different game but using old name game. With me OG music really emotional hit while remake thing doesnt. The only thing remake better is graphic, some new weapon system and level, control setting on keyboard for PC suck too

Why Adding a dash through? The essence of the combat is positioning, it’s running carefully through the X and Z axis, a dash especially if it had i frames just kills the whole purpose.
Didn't know ninjas ran around in what looks like a clown costume in the remake. And the bosses look way too easy compared to the original. Other than that it looks cool.

Czemu zamiast dodać im parę nowych ciosów, trochę utrudnić, dodać szybkości, zwiększyć życie, by dodać im tylko trochę bardziej agresywnego charakteru, to zrobili zupełnie coś nowego???😓 Ja osobiście się zawiodłem. I jak mogli skasować super szybką rytmiczną muzykę z ostatniego bossa i wstawić coś innego? Co nie do końca pasuję... Jeszcze ten smok, jakoś to się nie klei i nie trzyma kupy...
Sad they cant use real cities like New York for story setting. There is something about thw orginal that hits home for doing that. Plus the two Ninjas look less Ninja than in the orginal. Still awesome remake though.
Well, they can. But they prefer to not use real places or references, keep things easier and safe. People nowadays barely can interpret irony or fiction. I too would prefer to see real places not magical or fantasy settings.
My one big gripe is they made the bosses oversized in the new one and they look ridiculous, especially the hawk guy. He doesn't throw high kicks anymore and it looks ridiculous
They made it approachable to suit " modern audience" , frankly thanks to those two words , video games totally lost it's edge , they're not challenging anymore

Your videos shows how easy its to beat the bosses on the new remake since there is no intricacies involved. I played the original game on the NES console so yeah you might missing something here buddy.

It’s so much fun! I dig it a lot. Cleared it in hard no death after numerous attempts. The music is awesome and the gameplay is tight

Bosses in both game are pretty easy. I like the extra stage they added and sub weapon system
