Vergil, even without most of his powers, is still vastly superior to Raiden and Sam. He still has Yamato which is a powerful Devil Arm that can cut through the fabric of reality itself. A 10 year old Vergil managed to hold his own and defeat the demon army that Mundus sent to kill his family despite being heavily injured and, in that moment, awakening his Devil Trigger for the first time.

@@M4D0GG0 you're thinking to literal with vergil, considering that the yamato can literally cur through dimensions. if you think that high frequency blade's ability to cut is greater than that, i'm afraid you are wrong.
@@M4D0GG0 You don't need to cut something to kill it considering the police officers almost kill Raiden with what I can assume are stun batons, so if the Yamato can cut through reality itself using judgement cut end, I think it would be fine. Same goes for Raiden and Sam against demons, who unlike Cyborgs don't wield any massive machines, and im pretty sure Lady isn't a demon, thus making humans completely possible to kill demons if they are skilled enough, and knowing both Sam and Jack, they break that skill barrier with ease.
If Lady, who is just a normal human can be a demon hunter then Raiden and Sam sure can (obviously they are a lot stronger than Lady) but they likely will struggle battling against upper demon like Leviathan, Goliath and Abigail, also sometime will struggle to tell which one is demon disguising as human..... at least until Dante teach them how to identiy which is human and which is not
People really do be forgetting that Sam has been professionally trained in a specific sword technique since birth, refined to the point he can tell which technique someone is using just by fighting with them for a small period.
None of you know what the fuck you're talking about. Sure vergil has some raw sword skills, but most of it comes from his demonic heritage and the demon sword he wields. Most of his actual ability comes from the fact that he is half demon, while Sam is mostly human (except for the cybernetic) and still better than Raiden. All that demon magic gives vergil a boost, while Sam is just naturally better.
in fact vergil is buffed as a playable character one of the reason is the range of his judgement cut end is unlimited while boss vergil has circle range
He's definitely buffed. As stated above with the judgement cut annd you get 2 extra weapons that he didn't even use in the boss fight. He's the ultimate power fantasy
Raiden = Cyborg Mercenary who would kill anyone in his path for his beliefs Jetstream Sam = Cyborg Mercenary that is so strong the only actually cybernetic part is his crippled arm Vergil = Literally god
In terms of actual skill, I'd say Sam probably has the most. He has formal training with the blade, while Raiden and Vergil are self taught. Raiden only ever beat Sam because of his superior body, the fact that Sam was even able to keep up with just an exosuit speaks a lot about how skilled he is. Vergil is the most powerful because he has the most powerful abilities. You could argue that Raiden has more brute lifting strength but Vergil's weapons completely outclass the other two. If all three contenders were only humans with no abilities and the same sword, Sam wins.
vergil wasn't fully self taught, he was taught by his father as a kid and can defeat multiple of his fathers disciples, nd his father is like super skilled in sword combat. one of the best fighters in the dmc universe. also raiden does not have more lifting nor striking strength when compared to virgin.
@Lecherous Lizard the arm actually nerfed him... it was just a prosthetic and not an enhancement. Plus, because it was just his arm, the signals from his brain are delayed, causing noticeable lag. The exosuit was only made so he could compete with the actual cyborgs that were still much more physically strong. Thank you for coming to my ted talk. Edit: forgot somthing else, they made it a point to say he had no cybernetic enhancements in the original japanese vesrion. All the cyborgs had white blood and sams was red... the only character who bleeds red across the whole game.

Honestly I love them all but I think Sam is the best swordsman since he's almost entirely human and a true result of skill and hard work but because he's only human he is outclassed by the strength and speed of Raiden and all his advanced cybernetics but when all is said and done Vergil is an absolute monster and the 2 dwarf in comparison because of his demonic heritage and Devil Arms but seriously do love each one of these sword wielding psychos
In my opinion, Jetstream Sam is defiantly the flashiest and most intimidating opponent, especially with hit giant robot arm. But Vergil could easily wipe out Both Raiden and Sam without breaking a sweat. The guy can literally teleport and unleash hundreds of sword strikes in milliseconds.
But the thing is, so can Raiden. During Raiden's gameplay, there is a LOT of slowed-down perspective. But if you take a good look at the first few cutscenes of MGRR, Raiden casually creates a dozen slashes to bring down his surroundings in a makeshift barricade without barely breaking a sweat, and that's in his old form, before Blade Mode was permanently slowed down in his perspective as long as he had extra juice. Raiden, so long as he is in his new body, could probably handle Vergil for at least a minute or two. Not saying he would win since Vergil still has godlike endurance and bullshit demon power, but he could certainly hold his own for a good minute, I think.
@@bluphenyx problem is he says hundreds, it is at least hundreds of millions on base form, billions or more in Devil trigger form and quadrillions or more in Sin devil trigger form, vergil is 17D bro you cannot compare him with someone like raiden
Sam trained to see incoming targets at in-human speeds so it would be foolish not to say he couldn't predict his teleport in some way since Vergil never tele'd more than a foot really(at least if were going off what we see in the games)
I absolutely love how in the beginning, It showcases all the characters since both Raiden and Sam have serious music playing while idle and then theres Vergil.
For a very long time I thought the ninja characters were way overpowered for the Metal Gear setting but as an adult I recognize that time Ocelot killed an entire KGB unit on his own, Big Boss and Solid Snake regularly juggle whole squads of bad guys, and Solid Snake beat a cyborg ninja with his bare hands. Everyone is busted in this setting. If MGRR is canon then so is Twin Snakes
The gameplay hampers all of them. In the canon, all 3 of them are highly trained master swordsmen, even Raiden and Vergil, who for the most part are self-taught in the art of swordsmanship, and Sam, who is a successor to his father's school and has been trained since childhood.
I mean, it's not like Vergil is invincible or invunerable to damage .. most of the time. A High frecuency sword can just cut anything that's made of matter and therefore it can damage Vergil and there it can damage him enough to not continue fighting at some point.
@@otroweonllamadoseba Don’t forget the fact that he’s a demon so near perfect regeneration, super speed, super strength and durability, so a high frequency blade is not going to hurt him unless Dante’s the one using it against him.

Interesting fact, Samuel actually isnt a cyborg like Raiden is. Also if the yamato was made into an HF blade, Vergil would be (more) unstoppable
Jet stream Sam has that Attack where he holds the blade in a stance much like virgle does, but I find Sam to be much more satisfying because of the charge up time.

@@dakshsingh3458 well, isshin can perry azura comet, while perrying judgment cut is mutch easier. And also no one can one shot sekiro, couse he has second life
I'm planning on making a video on this sometime soon, but it gets very complicated the way you compare them. If we are going completely and utterly on played gameplay power level, Jetstream Sam I think has the upper hand against with nanopaste, blade mode, defensive offence, and being able to parry virtually every attack (and return the damage severely). As well as running faster, jumping higher, and generally has overall better mobility. Now, as soon as you add in cutscenes or lore into it, you throw a wrench into the metal gears of balance, now vergil moves faster than light (?) which... I mean technically speaking yea, would throw a planet on vergil's side of the scale. Here I would argue that Sam's instinct would help, as he is seen narrowly avoiding an invisible chainsaw without hearing it until the last possible second, but it's the speed of light, how do you dodge that. Here lies my second issue, Vergil isn't faster than the speed of light, i can't find any legitimate source that confirms this(if you can find confirmation on game or otherwise stated by game devs or whatever, tell me), and given the games setting, i don't think it would make sense. Also, judgement cut doesnt fit the bill, it's description is “Vergil moves and slashes everything in the field with such a speed that He appears multiple location at the same time” if this were faster than light, you wouldn't see him at all. I'm willing to admit that it is wickedly fast, but not anywhere near the speed of light. Which brings us back to the fight, could Sam defeat vergil at insanely fast speeds and/or parry or dodge judgement cut? This is debatable as there is no real way of determining Vergil's speed. If we go of of gameplay, yes, Sam could time his defensive offence right and just... dodge it. He is also seen dodging and deflecting bullets from what we can assume is a .50 bmg machine gun, which shoots at over 3000 fps.) Third issue, and this changes things for both sides equally, if we add in cutscenes and lore, then the health pool is effectively gone, since both parties are susceptible to human injuries (like losing an arm to a sword slash). This tips the balance toward Sam, as his sword defies reaction time of even superhumans (note how fast he cut off raidens arm in the prologue of the game, and the same to Armstrong, whose nanomachines protect him almost instantly on impact. This means that if Sam was able to cause Vergil to slip up, it would be effectively game over. I understand that this also means that Sam is also one shot, but I'm certain that if he is able to deflect the bullets of 20 guys shooting at him simultaneously, he can fight a guy who is, at best, a swordfighting bullet.
I think the fastest feat for Vergil through cinematics is back in DMC3. Vergil fights with Dante under rainfall at a speed where we see the rain "stops" till the two pause and all the surrounding droplets just pop and burst. I know Earth's gravity is 9.8 m/s if I recall correctly so if we base off of cutscenes alone, then not as fast as light, but still pretty damn fast. I don't know if it'd be faster than deflecting bullets, especially since Sam is aware and anticipating it. There's actually a guy irl who managed to cut a fired BB, while still having to draw the blade out. So instinct and anticipation is a big factor. I'm not saying who would win in speed; just sharing info is all. Sam is still a bonafide badass. 🎉
Personally I believe Sam is the best swordsman out of all of them. Being a swordsman isn’t always about being flashy but about being effective and decisive. Sam’s attacks are brutal but refined, he doesn’t need any powers to enhance his abilities and doesn’t use strange unorthodox methods like attaching a sword to his foot. The only reason Vergil is considered better is because he does a few small quick slashes with his sword and let’s his powers do the rest but if he didn’t have his powers he wouldn’t be doing half as good. Raiden is too crude and unorthodox with his style for it to be considered usable in real situations leaving Sam as the best of the 3
What's the point in comparing them if they don't have their power? Its like saying raiden is a better swordsman than vergil if vergil didin't have a sword. Even without using the extent if his power, with no devil trigger and without abusing the yamato's power, in judgement cut end, vergil still moves so fast time slows down.
@@aduckonaplane3816 being a good swordsman does not equal being powerful, no doubt vergil is on a godlike power level, but swordsmanship is a skill they all have at a high level, and in my opinion magical and cybernetic powers are not included in swordsmanship, and I agree that sam looks like the best swordsman by far, he embodies the strong and smart fighter who only moves when he needs to, while vergil and raiden rely on their speed and zooming around the field like mosquitoes

@@aduckonaplane3816 you dont seem to understand at all what i'm saying so I will say it slower for you, using a sword is a skill, you give a literal god a sword he will be able to kill almost anything with a sword, you give a person who trained and fought with a sword a blade, and he might not be able to defeat the same creatures despite his mastery of the skill, that does not make the god a better swordsman, he is just stronger and happens to be using the sword, vergil doesnt transcend time because he is so good with his sword, he transcends time because of his demonic powers and his swords demonic powers, arguably anyone with the same ancestry could do the same as him given the same tool
@@ape8572 before his demonic power awakened and he was more human than demon, vergil was able to defeat dante, who moved as fast as lightning, with pure skill.

If we go of of gameplay, yes, Sam could time his defensive offence right and just... dodge it. He is also seen dodging and deflecting bullets from what we can assume is a .50 bmg machine gun, which shoots at over 3000 fps.)
Third issue, and this changes things for both sides equally, if we add in cutscenes and lore, then the health pool is effectively gone, since both parties are susceptible to human injuries (like losing an arm to a sword slash).
