In light of Giancarlo’s desire to play a good guy, he would be perfect as The Phantom Stranger. An ethereal and kind traveler of existence. Giancarlo can play a more gentle character who still has an aura of power and can command the room with his intelligence and deep voice.

I personally loved the Young Justice take on Zatarra, an existing older guy who is inspired BY Superman to pick up superheroing despite his age. That entire episode was great.
As a Martian Manhunter fan, I think Giancarlo would would be perfect, and very enjoyable in the role

When I think of how Red Tornado should sound, I think of how he sounded in Batman: The Brave And The Bold. That is why I don’t think he would work.

I say Giancarlo Esposito would make a fantastic *Phantom Stranger* in the DCU
I think his voice especially would really give the character a commanding weight mixed in with the charisma of Esposito to play a powerful character as well as balance his strength in playing calculated, villainous characters with his desire to play a superhero
But phantom stranger is white 😕

Paul Dini is married to Misty Lee, who's the stage magician , but also a voice actress who's voiced Aunt May and Squirrel Girl in Ultimate Spider-Man, and has been the female voices for the Infected in The Last of Us.
I would love to see him as the Batman villan Scarface. The duality he could bring to the quiet and nervous ventriloquist, as well as the intimidating and commanding presence of the dummy.
I think he would KILL IT as Zatara. Can't get the idea of him and Zazie Beetz as father and daughter out of my head now!

The thought of Giancarlo Esposito as Giovanni Zatara never crossed my mind before but he seems like such a good casting to me. Nathalie Emmanuel has been my fan cast for Zatanna for a while, I think they'd be solid picks for the characters.

Would love a black and white noir thriller with Martian manhunter as the main character, he can interrogate people in their minds, get some awesome practical effects, the villain can be despiro controlling people to do murders and they have a mind fight at the end

I know it's not DC but Giancarlo has always been my fancast for Charles Xavier. It's a heroic role that, imo, make use of his villain typecasting since Charles can sometimes walk that line

In terms of seeing more of what he's capable of, you should get Dropout so you can watch an episode of Game Changer where they got Giancarlo to act against various prompts. It was a wide array of personalities, and he did good with all of them. Came across very fun and capable of being silly

Giancarlo can absolutely do bold and rage and ruling with strength. I've only played the first few hours of Far Cry 6, but from that alone you can see he absolutely kills it when yelling and commanding the room.
Not a DC fancast I still think that Giancarlo should play the MCU's version of Otto Octavius, especially if they take some cues from the PS4 version and build up Peter's personal dynamic with Otto
God I really wish this new mcu spidey era will do the "Street level" villains. And Giancarlo as Otto would be very cool! I never even thought about that.

Their race and where they are from is crucial to who they are , there's many actors and actresses that are the same race and nationalities who can do play them well
Alfred could be a cool heroic role fits with age, would get alot of screentime and could be part of action scene shotgunning folk without having to jacked.
The phantom stranger, Kent Nelson or zatara could be good recurring roles.
Giancarlo Esposito as Phantom Stranger is my favourite fan-cast for the actor in the DCU because balances his strength in playing calculated, villainous characters with his desire to play a superhero
About Alfred being played by a British actor, there's an actor who's black and already played a similar character in the fresh Prince
Ross Baigley, he was Butler Geoffrey, he's only in his late 60s , he has his sass, wit and trolling like Alfred does if they go that route plus he also was a war vet like Alfred in the British army

The two I had in my head starting this video was Dr. Fate and Jason Blood so in glad I’m not alone there. The Question is a good call but he’s so good at acting with his face that I think that might be wasting it just a bit. Tangentially, I’m almost ashamed that as soon as you said Detective Chimp I immediately said Andy Serkis but man talk about type casting…
Phanton Stranger, The Shade, Zatara and Freeze are definitely my favorite choices. A lot other great ones too though!

I think if the performance is going to be more physically demanding I lean Luke Evans but if they want a more cerebral and cunning performance I think Giancarlo would be great. I'd even say someone like Zachary Quinto or Matthew Goode could do well. I could see both delivering a good monologue

How has no one suggested the phantom stranger?! You want to talk about a character who has gravitas can play both sides of the field, and is ultimately a good guy. Even though many of the things he's involved with seem to be evil, dark, or more of a wrong, he's a super important character with an insane amount of power, and I think it's something that Giancarlo would absolutely crush and be able to make the role iconic to a casual fans would suddenly want to learn more about this incredible storied character who never gets the limelight on the big screen

Martian Manhunter, Mr Freeze, Hugo Strange are all slam dunks. But after Mando S3... I would love him as an older Slade. Maybe from the future or something.

I love all these roles for him, but Mr Freeze/Victor Fries still takes top billing for me. He would be so much more than just a villain. He’d be a sympathetic character coping with loss and grief, who maybe isn’t really such a “bad guy” when you get down to it. He’s just a guy who went about doing things in a bad way. If they go that direction for Fries, I think it’d draw Giancarlo to the role and provide a great take on the character.

This is an absolute pipe dream, but I think Esposito could be a phenomenal voice of Norman McCay in an animated Kingdom Come movie.

Giancarlo as Lucious would probably work great. However, it just seems too safe and simple to be interresting. Like Giancarlo can used way more effective than that. I guess they could give the character some huge, interresting storyline to work with. But I dunno if that would be likely.

One I didn't hear, but thought Giancarlo Esposito could do a really interesting job with would be the Phantom Stranger, because he is a character who is a superhero, but is also lowkey scary in the way that Giancarlo is so famous for.

Atrocitus is only really raging in battle, outside of it he's pretty snide and kinda just tries to make others mad
I'd love to see him as an older Zod in a movie about Val-Zod or Lor-Zod, especially if it were a movie with both of them in. I feel like especially Val-Zod is an interesting enough character in the comics he'd work really well in one of these movies.

Good allegories for Firestorm would be Garnet from Steven Universe and Gotenks from Dragonball Z. Though it's not quite 1 to 1 because you don't get the two voices and they already have powers before fusing but just get even stronger. Stein being a voice in his head honestly makes it feel more like Batman Beyond just with fusion instead of technology.
Also Kamen Rider W. That’s essentially Japanese Firestorm.

Kamen Rider W is high art, and the fact that it's only my third favorite is just a testament to how brilliant OOO and Geats are rather than any sort of failing on its part. @@TrueZero2
He can try a lesser known ally to Batman: Aaron Cash. An ordinary security guard in Arkham Asylum. Arkham Asylum never been properly introduced in live action. Aaron Cash is the ONLY righteous, mentally sober and clean staff in the Asylum. His role is good to introduce Killer Croc in as he bit of his left arm.
So many staff in the Asylum: Jeremiah Arkham, Dr Hugo Strange, Dr Jonthan Crane, Dr. Harleen Quinzel all turn crazy.. Aaron Cash remained calm, righteous , not corrupted throughout. Hes like the James Gordon in the Asylum; just more down to earth.
His performance in Parish makes him a good role for Aaron Cash in some way.
If Janelle Monae played Zatana I would die. That's incredible

I don't think he works for Deadman because Boston Brant was a former circus acrobat and when he died, his body froze in that great shape. Giancarlo is 65, not really passing as a circus acrobat.
