      @@DanLewisDrums Of course! There's one thing you missed, which you may have figured out already: that "sync" option under the toolbox allows you to turn on "sync with iCloud" which allows you to keep a perfect copy of your forScore library. So for example I have it turned on so at anytime I could open forScore on my iMac, sync it to my cloud copy and have the exact set up on my iMac. Or say you want to have a second iPad as a backup, you can have it always synced to your main library so you can seamlessly switch between devices. It's pretty brilliant!

    Thank you for this amazing video! I’ve been using forScore for years for concert readings of new musicals, and it’s been a godsend. My one wish is that they allow moving bulk pages in the rearrange tool, in addition to individual pages. With new shows there are constant rewrites, and being able to move a bunch of pages at one time to a particular place in the full document would be extremely helpful.

    Thank you for such a thorough review of forScore. I've watched it till the "Bookmarks" section, I'll take a break and then I'll continue watching. In the meantime, some comments on what I watched:
    4:48 - There is no need to scroll up as hard, since you can just tap at the very top of the screen.
    5:42 - I, too, have long since renamed the "Composers" field to "Artist(s)". I'm surprised that originally forScore didn't even offer such a field.
    10:09 - Or just long tap on the item (chart) and select "Clone" in the context menu. It's easier that way.
    12:55 - Half-page turns is a very handy feature when you have some complicated passage that is between different pages. And for practicing such passages, it's very convenient: you don't have to keep flipping back and forth to learn the passage. Also, the position of this dividing line can be adjusted manually.

I have set up a Siri shortcut that asks me to choose a chart from a list and then asks me to pick a song from that chart. It then opens the chart in an app called DEVONthink. This saves me having to find the right page in a book. Is there anyway to do this in Forscore do you know?

    Love this app!! Great info here! I recently ran into issues using the Undo button... if I have a lot annotations on a chart, hitting Undo can screw up all my work making things disappear and become a hassle to try to fix. So I've got in the habit of avoiding the Undo option and use Erase instead. Have you run into this? Forscore responded to my first attempt to resolve this but have not followed up with the questions I answered.

    Quick question: When writing your own chart using the manuscript template, Forscore seems to pick-up on the ledger lines and start filling in extra's and drawing other random lines and going a bit crazy? Have you come across this or know a work-around? cheers

      Hey! Great to hear from you, it’s a great question and definitely one I had before I began too. There are page flipping tools like Bluetooth pedals and stuff. You can also do it through forscore under the “metronome” section. But tbh, I do it myself. I physically tap the next page, which is difficult at first but you definitely get used to it and where the best places to turn are! It’s all trial and error my friend.

  • @Oleg__
    @Oleg__ 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    30:29 - This is a handy thing. It adjusts the sensitivity when you use two fingers to zoom in/out for the right crop. Choose the turtle and you have to move your fingers a lot, so it makes it easy to make fine adjustments. Choose the rabbit, and with just a little finger spread, you get a crazy response to the movement of your fingers.
    P.S. I also work on cruise ships (not musician yet). I'm still at home, though, and I'm not sure if I'll be back anytime soon. And you, as I understand it, are on Mardi Gras. Probably you know the bass guitar player from Ukraine. His name is Oleg. He was there before the new year.
    Got to set-lists. I'm going to take a break again.

    • @DanLewisDrums
      @DanLewisDrums  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey bro! So I haven’t looked into that, but I just googled it and this is what it says on the official forScore site;
      “While forScore doesn’t have a “night mode”, iOS has an “invert screen” feature that may help. If you open the Settings app, under General, choose Accessibility. At the bottom of that panel, set the Accessibility Shortcut option to “Invert Colors” (in iOS 11 or later there are two options: Classic Invert Colors and Smart Invert Colors). Then, when using forScore, triple-click on the Home button on your device and it will invert the colors of the screen, setting white text on a black background.”

    Hi, many thanks for the video. Is there a method to cut lines and move them to a new place? I ask as in some classical guitar pieces you have both standard notation and tab music, I find it best to “white out” the tab part but then move the normal notation up to make for less page turns. I hope you follow my logic - any thoughts would be most welcome

    • @DanLewisDrums
      @DanLewisDrums  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! On pre-existing lines on the actual score I don’t believe you can. But if you draw over the top of them and white over anything you want to change that usually works as you can freely move anything you’ve drawn in. Hope that helps!

      Does FS Pro not have these limitations and/or is there a workaround for this? I can't find anything in the FS Pro documentation about expanding to unlimited pages or whatever so I'm guessing it still caps you at 24 pages...?

    Hi. Most informative video and useful for first time foreScore users. However, there is not and I don’t think ever had been a version for Android. It is purely for Apple.

      Hey, check the chapter on backups. But also yeah if you back it up, and something happens to your iPad you should be able to retrieve it on another one using the same log ins etc

    I returned to Apple because of this app, which is not available on Android.

      Honestly mate I love this app so much and it’s so good for what we need it for, I’d have done the same.
