I did indeed stumble across this, when the cabins started shaking I hid in there for a good 2 mins maybe waiting for something to happen thinking it was a deathclaw or something, but when nothing happened I left, the screams surprised me but didn't freak me out, it wasn't until I saw a picture start spinning when I booked it, I was actually frozen in real life, then I fast traveled back to the safety of my camp, I still avoid that place to this day
I actually had my camp right by it for a few days, just far enough to avoid the quakes, but could still hear the screams
When I found this place it was night. I couldnt figure out who rigged the place or why. Or why the ground shake. Came here to see if I missed something.

@@wildman510 I don't know, I think packs of feral ghouls make more of a scare if it were me but I suppose we're hardened to their presence from exposure. I mean, haunted cabin experience can be scary when done right, sure, but a feral ghoul waking you up by eating your limbs sounds more terrifying to me..
I mean, it does make sense considering they are in the game. But (to my knowledge at least)

How "original" is it really though? He plays a game other people made, and goes over the content. Don't get me wrong, I love Oxhorn, and I definitely don't wanna downplay the amount of work that must go into all these videos, they're very well made, exhaustive, they seem to require a lot of searching both in-game and online to make sure he's covered everything, there's a lot of backtracking and replaying required to explore so many options, a lot of video must require a good deal of editing, not to mention scripting, so on. All I'm saying is that whilst it's really good, it's not the most "original" content ever.
@@tobiashagstrom4168 Well yeah, the fact that he makes gaming videos isn't original at all, but if you talk specifically about his lore videos and how, like you said, he puts a ton of time and effort into covering the entire topic and presenting it in a way that's entertaining, I think that's the "original content" the op is talking about.

I'm sure someone has pointed this out already since this video is over two years old at this point, but it's possible that since the bombs fell around Halloween time, this might have been set up as an event of sorts for campers. It would certainly give people a proper Halloween fright.
Or just some park employees getting annoyed and people telling them how boring their stay was.

The screaming reminds me of the wendigo legend. They make the boises of a loved one or screaming of a person needing help. Maybe they used the screaming sounds from the wendigo legend
There is actually a wendigo ghoul in fo 76 and they are REALLY creepy, they also scream at you

Whenever Ox uses Pain Train exclusively to kill enemies I kinda want to make a compilation of them and put Sonic the Hedgehog music, voiceovers and SFX over the top of it. "Gotta go fast!" *spin-dash SFX, pain-trains a ghoul.* "You're too slow!"

I found it playing in the middle of the night. I noped out pretty quick, figuring I was about to come face to face with something nasty.
Brooo, I was legit looking around and mashing Q searching for enemies.
I legit crouched in a corner on a cabin looking up in the sky. I thought a scorched beast (never encountered one before) was above me and getting ready to land. My heart was beating crazy.
I thought it was the moth man but I think it’s a ghost
Well, I'm glad to finally get closure on this. I've been through that camp site a number of times.. I never followed the wires though, so I missed the speakers and the tree house. So it always felt unexplained to me... Just weird happenings. Now that I know it was somebody Scooby Doo'ing the place it doesn't feel unfinished.
When I got there the screen shook and I was like “....okay...” then the scream started and I ran away like “Nope Nope Nope Nope”
"You have to use the nukes! Wipe this DISEASE off the face of the map!!"

I stumbled across this place early in my play through and was big on getting the Well Rested bonus, I’m not sure if it’s all the cabins but I was in the south eastern cabin and took a nap, the camera turns to a fixed First Person angle and shows the frame in the pictures spinning. I hadn’t seen it before I took a rest and caught me by surprise!

If I had to guess, they wanted to attract paranormal enthusiasts, but their plans backfired.
I built a home on the little river that runs through there was a good spot other than it being a enemy spawn point just on the other side but I did not knowing of those cabins at the time and I was getting freaked out every time I would go to my house cuz just a little bit over I would hear God fearing screams and I was to scared to go over there but after a few days me and a friend did and he was a ass cuz he set off the spinning picture frams and earthquake and then brung in a bunch of gouls and I was shitting bricks the whole time let's just say I moved away from that place.

The more Fallout 76 lore videos I see from Oxhorn, the more I realize that I was wrong about one aspect of my criticism of the game. The devs actually DID put time, love, and passion into this game. Unfortunately you have to overlook quite a few shortcomings in order to find the true Fallout game hidden under the mess. But this IS a Fallout game. Not a blatant asset flip. I'm man enough to admit when I was wrong. I'm glad I was wrong. Thanks for showing us the awesome side of this game.
For example, when I played the BETA, I found this place. However, due to the time constraints, I didn't find that last terminal with the controls. Therefore, my experience with it was different until now. I thought, "Oh. Unexplained spooky room. Probably some scripted thing for a cryptid quest" and then sort of dismissed it. If I had just a little more time to explore and find the terminal, I might have kept playing solely just to use this spot to mess with friends. Tell them it's endgame territory and never to go there. And promptly go there lol
Very well put! One of my favorite examples of how the game can be good are the holotapes. As someone who often finds it hard to just sit at a terminal and read etries for very long, I like being able to pop a tape in and listen to it while still exploring, and I think they did a really good job with the voice acting, a lot of the recordings are pretty convincing, especially the small number of heart-breaking ones..
This is why I hoped this game would have been a Co-op game instead of an online only game because could you imagine what this could have been with unique NPCs admits the world. Maybe a random encounter could have been someone who was unaware of the terminal running away telling everyone some monstrous creature is killing people or some crazy psycho is murdering people.
Part of me hopes that a mod will surface for fallout 4 that essentially takes everything from fallout 76 & just makes it better or better yet take heavy inspiration from the game to make something new. Not sure if a copy-and-paste would fly with Bethesda but I could only dream that an incredible moder would pull something similar off

I found that terminal after being freaked out for like half an hour and, honest to God, said "Well, Scooby-Dooby-Doo".
I came here in the beta at 2 am (I'm European) and this made me freak out. I was sitting all by myself in a dark room and a bit tired
There are different time zones across Europe
I was doing a 24 hour gaming thing for charity with my friend but I was extra tired cause I had forgotten to take my melatonin (which I need to sleep) so we started at 12:00 pm and we found the place at around 10:00 am and I was so tired I actually didn’t know if I was just hallucinating the screams until I asked my friend if he heard it too
I found the terminal before making it to the camp so I messed things up for myself xD

I remember finding this place in the Beta with a friend of mine. It was quite spooky, and he ended up learning about the terminal long before I did, so he used it to scare me. That was one of the few times I was legit creeped out from a Fallout title.

Well with Halloween having been just around the corner before the bombs dropped I can understand why they set all this up to try and cash in on the season and get back at some of there less then Pleasant clientele
I had to put this in but when you said " As we get to the cabin door" it just went to an ad break featuring "why don't you spend a relaxing holiday in a cabin at the Snowy Mountains". It was an ad made for Australia. Perfect timing.
I discovered this place by myself pretty late at night. I would have been creeped out more but the game ran the door closing sequence on one of the feral ghouls as he was trying to greet me. Was rather amusing to witness that poor ghoul getting denied by an automated script.
I didn't discover the tree-house but I did find one of the poles before getting distracted and wandering off in the wrong direction so thanks for showing me the correct direction,Ox. Props to ya.

My CAMP is beside a junk pile near the cabins, so all the time I hear that screaming while I'm modifying my weapons.
I don't have the game, so I ultimately can't actually stumble upon this place. But I still got the chills watching this video--it's the screams. Anyways.
This is a wild shot, but I like to imagine that either it's part of the tourist attraction and like you proposed, it could've been used to torture the guests who left bad reviews.
Or, all of this, the screams, rotating pics, and all, were part of a movie set. The screams hooked to the speakers, the earthquake, everything seems like something that could fit a horror film. Just my thoughts though.

I found the terminal before exploring the cabins because of the direction I approached it. I can confirm a magazine does spawn on the table. I got the one that reduces other players VATS accuracy but the exact magazine may be random.
Is there more info on this? I don't feel as if Bethesda would go through the effort of putting all this stuff in, without giving more of a clue as to why this was set up this way. Who was harassing the cabin residents? Why? How did they do it? Why did they use such odd and elaborate methods? Was the person who set this up trying to do something else, was it some strange and elaborate plan to somehow attract a cryptid or something?
Tobias Hagström probably was because some people said the place was to boreing, so maybe the park manager and then a employee found out and took it to far.
The terminal controlling it explains they did it to make it a touristy camp ground. People like haunted stuff and there is a market for it.
Or maybe there is a note somewhere. I just remember reading something about them faking it themselves so the camp gets the reputation of being haunted.
You know @oxhorn I reallly appreciate how often you update. I can always count on quality content that is more than just content for contents sake. I mean even when you do small quick things to tide us over. You always add thought provoking portions to your videos. You always highlight more than just the stories which I've always enjoyed in games.
I just came across this place yesterday with my friends and we were actually scared of the location because we didn’t know what was going on. The worst part is our camps were all on a cliff side very close to this location so we moved out as quick as possible

I found these cabins while I was looking for a quite spot to set up camp at early on. The screams kind of freaked me out at first, I thought there was some sort of weird cryptid that spawned around there. I wandered around, saw a door close by itself and just thought it was a graphic glitch but saw it happen a couple more times and realized, okay, this a haunted camp ground apparently. I thought it was just a cool little supernatural easter egg. I never found the terminal that controls the place, now I'm a little disappointed it was a prank/hoax lol.
The first time I visited there I witnessed the shaking and then the first warning I ever heard of "Leave the area immediately. Nuclear strike imminent." and then the blood curdling scream and I have never been so shook
I stumbled upon this place in the beta and I learned the truth. I invited my friends unknowingly into my web. I snuck to the terminal and then proceeded to have a bit of fun with the other options. They were freaking out the whole time but when they drew close, I snuck away from the terminal. They eventually found it butI had put it back on the automated sequence. When they were playing with the options, they remarked how the frequency was different and something was off. I of course, could not contain myself any longer and busted out laughing, then disclosed I had snuck up to the terminal and was playing with the options.
I first stumbled upon this at (night in the game) and it genuinely freaked me out. I was alone, around level 16, and I thought that I may have wound up at a wendigo spawn location, but, I'm glad I was mistaken.
I set my camp right next to there and figured it was the speakers playing the audio from a treehouse opposite side of the picnic tables. Weird thing is the doors closing on me all the time
My camp is near that place.

So that explains the weird sounds I hear every now and then. And the screen shaking whenever some players explore that place.

Discovered this camp today and had the in-game music turned off. I had a code brown because I live alone. In game I was trying to figure out where the sound was coming from and the source of the rumbling. I just built a new camp between the Alpine River Cabins and Flatwoods Lookout. I legit closed my home office door I was so scared! I thought to myself, “Did something happen to the girl chopping wood at the top of the huge hill?” Then the screaming jumped around. Then I noticed the tree house....
When I found this place in my game I was with my friend and we were just randomly roaming and then we heard the scream so we ran over to the cabins and we tried to follow the screams but we never found anything after we had searched all of the cabins and listened to all the holotapes we tried going up the hill but we didn’t find the treehouse so we were just left scared

I’ve always liked this place and it’s so spooky! Me and my friend came here a while ago and he didn’t believe me when I said the pictures were spinning, we also saw a Flatwoods monster around this place
Thank you for telling me the story about this experience. I wandered onto this campgrounds and I was freaking the shit out. I thought I was just a little Easter egg that Bethesda was doing the screw with us but I did not see the wires in speakers in the terminal. So thanks for letting me know, now I don't have to piss myself every time I go there.
To answer the last question, I think the park owners thought that if they made the place seem haunted, then the word would get out and more and more visitors would come and camp there because they wanted to experience the "haunting" for themselves
Me and my friend went there and when we heard the scream we hid in a cabin then when we saw one of the pictures rotating we got the hell out of that place

I was meeting with someone for a trade before I found this place, his camp was near here and needless to say hearing the screams first thing after fast travel freaked me out, I asked the fella you hear the screams and he's all like what screams I ain't heard nothing :D
edit: a thought about the earthquakes, you can experience these anywhere in the Ash Heap region, forgot if i read it in lore or it's just my headcannon, but I always assumed they're the result of the extensive mining operations going on in the region. maybe the guy hooked into one of the extractor units (like the ones from Uranium Fever event, those cause earthqake inside the mine when started - possibly not able to show outside since it's interior cell) close to Apine cabins and was able to switch it on on demand to simulate the earthquake

On a hill on the west side of the map I found a cabin with a hidden basement with skulls, ribs, blood, and above it on a deck I think there was a knife and a cool outfit.

This was one of the first locations I discovered in Fallout 76 and the first time I saw one of the pictures rotating I just noped on out of there.
The 1st time I stumbled upon this place it was the middle of the night. I was a fresh level 5 at the time and I decided to lie down for a nap on one of the bed to heal. All of a sudden I heard footsteps and the door closed. So I got up because I thought it was another player and didn't want to die. So I got up only to find no one and see the pictures spinning. I was like Okay NOPE I am too low a level to deal with this.
I remember playing the Beta, going into the cabin, the door closing on me, the painting spinning, and then suddenly the earthquake. I was terrified! I left without investigating.
One thing that i can sure of it is, that scream is just like a water deer so maybe that lure animals options on the terminal is for the deers to attract customers
I dunno about that earthquake and spinning pictures but im so sure about that creepy noise

The first scream sounded like an elk to me so I thought nothing of it and healed in a cabin only to find a fire breather holo, listened and slept, heard the scream and thought that it was a radstag or something because in real life elk do it alot, second one comes around while heavy mist sets in. Needless to say I ran the hell away

The bombs fell in October 2077. I figured this whole setup was just an elaborate spooky Halloween event.
Finally came across rhis place myself. I first wondered "the hell, did they update the ambiance!?"
then the doors and earthquakes started, and I just laughed with "A'ight. Ghost cabins!"
Then found the treehouse and terminal, and it clicked " oh of course, its one big scooby doo reference XD"
found that place during the beta, kept expecting to find some proof of supernatural not old man Jhonson setting up for a Halloween party or whatever.
I discovered this location in the middle of the night and it had me absolutely terrified for the first couple minutes. after 2 or 3 minutes I realized nothing was coming and I shortly discovered the treehouse "outpost". had a good laugh
I kinda hoped it was an actual haunted park. It would fit in perfectly with urban legends except instead of coincidently being created this could be a true unsolved mystery like Dunwich Borers except with a haunted campground theme. I could picture teens & young adults scaring their siblings or each other with the legend of the woman who was murdered by the creek bed "...and her screams can still be heard to this day". Unfortunately we don't but I would absolutely love for someone to make that a thing within a larger mod, something similar to Far Harbor to get the woodland landscape!

I have to say, this place was one of the scariest places I've ever visited in a Fallout game, just based on pure spookiness.

Found that place at a low level, with low supplies, on an early foggy morning. Oh, and i'm a stealth/sniper build. So it was quite the experience.
Just encountered this now, Didn’t even realise there were screams, but there was a massive earthquake as I found a holotape, so knowing there would’ve been a video on it I’m now here
Whenever friends of mine would start playing 76 for the first time I would purposely lead them here and pretend to be scared and tell them that the screams and shaking are a wendigo nearby and that we needed to hide pronto, and I would keep this joke going for like 10 minutes until either they figured it out or I told them lol
It's called Alpine River so maybe it's sim for Alpines in Austria, France, and Swiss Alps, for people who can't go to Europe but still like to have a that fell of Alpine, and the Earthquake is for the rocks fall down the mountainside and bloody screaming is people dying from it and their voices can be heard so far away because of how high they are and two the lack of trees. And the photos are for some fun, doors auto closing to stop things from getting inside.
Me and a random guy I met online explored this place together on my first day of playing. It was super weird, and I thought it had something to do with a cryptid
When I came here the first time in my ps4 game I was thinking it was hunting or a Wendigo since they have screaming attack thing. Nope it's just a terminal up the hill in a treehouse that toggles the screaming, shaking, pictures moving and doors closing by themselves.
To be honest this place freaked me out the other day while exploring and for the life of me I couldn't figure out what was causing the screaming. Still extremely confused. I had immediately reacted in character while role-playing. "Oh god it's haunted-"
When i went there i thought it was the flatwoods monster (you may think how its the flatwoods monster making those sounds)and i kepst ob running back and forthe intil i got to the tree house and called my buddy to get in the cabin.
First time i came here i was just wandering around cause after i completed the main story i made it my mission to discover and explore every location. When i heard the scream i just onto the roof of one of the cabins (using a mutation) and sat there for a good 15 minutes.
This has to be, so far, my favorite story to uncover in 76. Thank you for making this video, Oxhorn!
I picked up 76 again recently and I encountered this and it did freak me out a little. Lol although I only investigated the cabins and didnt find the wires leading to the tree house.
Dear Vault dwellers. A C.A.M.P. tip: walk the road west of the cabins until you find a red truck and near it should be a junk pile. Really helpful. Also keep up the great work Oxhorn. I love your videos and you are the reason why I started playing Fallout. Have a nice day in Appalachia!
Keep up the good work Mr. Oxhorn. I'll never be able to play this game, for lack of internet at my home, but at least I can experience it with my favorite TH-camr.
This is one of my favorite locations in the game, I even had my camp built by it for a while.
I've played Resident Evil and Metro.
Yet even these cabins give me the shivers.

Came across this place without knowing it’s background at all at night alone. Cleared the cabins of ghouls was it the last of the four with the first scream happened my character and I froze in the cabin for like two minutes did the earth shook at the pictures spun. I booked it out of there so fast. What an awesome feeling though Discovering this place naturally ans happening to do it all at night. that now know it’s secret I have to go back and find that treehouse!
I literally just finished watching your live stream video when you posted this video 😂 have you thought of asking another player to craft the jetpack for you in trade for resources and caps? Also, if you are hard for plastic (I know you were a few videos ago) Camden Parknand the county fair grounds are really good spots. The nuka cola cups throughout the park (mostly on the ground) are a great supply. I usually walk away with about 200 plastic after looting Camden park and the fairground. And in your adventures did you discover death law island and the bodies? There is a note in a building not far that explains this.
I love how much time was spent on details, they even made sure to add Karen’s & kyles into the game.

Huh... there's a terminal... I wish someone pointed this out to me when I was level 67.
That scared me like, it really startled me XD. I'm a sniper stealth build so I end up sneaking about and am used to that sorta stuff, that said if you catch me by surprise I'll jump.
I spent at least 40 minutes hold up in the cabins and trying to hide an such thinking something big and scary was gonna jumpscare me. The atmosphere without Friends is horrific in a startling way.
I think the theory that soul survivor is a synth is very plausible. Because this would give much more context to Father and his dedication with the protagonist and the quest line. U could try cover this theory oxhorn?

my theory on this is that it was supposed to seem like a haunted place sort of deal i think this cause it clearly had the intention to scare and if you remember the bombs dropped only about a week before Halloween so it makes sence
the first time discovered the cabins it was night with the heavy fog laying across the area and I was actually pretty tense lol
