Wow, DJI keeps impressing! The DJI mic 2 with 32-bit float recording a very nice option for a wireless camera. Thanks for the heads up on this hidden treasure! ✨
it's only a matter of time before someone makes an xlr adapter specifically for this recorder, making any microphone you already have a recorder that automatically starts when the camera is on, which seems like a pretty sweet deal.
Those do exist. The problem is, that the 1.5V-5V, that the DJI Mic 2 outputs to drive lav mics isn't enough to convert it to 48V phantom power for XLR condenser studio mics and the preamp in the DJI Mic 2 likely isn't good enough to drive dynamic mics. You're better off with a microphone, that is geared to be used on XLR and 3.5mm, like my Sennheiser MKE-300, which can be fitted with a battery and the supplied XLR to 3.5mm cable or you go with a recorder, that has the power to power XLR microphones and has timecode. Like the mixpre3-II for example.
It means that when you start recording on the camera, it will start recording on the mic transmitter. You then don't have to do it yourself (and it's often something, that one forgets to do)
I know I’m late to the party. I have 3 questions if you can help… (1) after watch this, I want to ask, can you sync Any Manufacturer Timecode Devices as long as you have the correct cable ? I’ve only used Tentacle but I have multiple people shoots and some people using Deity that I would love to sync with. (2) I have 5 Tentacle Sync E and 5 Track E and I want to sync the OSMO Pocket 3, will the Saramonic SR-C2001 work for this ? (3) do you think it is possible to split the Tentacle Timecode on one side of that Rode Splitter (or splitter cable) and an External Microphone on the other side of the splitter (in essence doing away with the scratch channel) ? I shoot Weddings and I need my External for some less isolated situations. Thanks for any insight. Great Channel you have a new Subscriber for sure. Blessings to your Channel.
If you put the Rode Wireless Pro in Timecode Mode 5, it sends TC on both left and right audio channels to jam sync cameras. Couldn't you just use the receiver to jam the Pocket 3, then record 32-bit float on the transmitter? (if there was a reason to use the Rode Wireless Pro instead of the Mic 2 - like locking lav, for example)
Yes, you can. My point was more to, that you don't constantly want to reconfigure your Røde Wireless Pro, especially because it's so awkward. Additionally, if you wanted to use the DJI Mic 2 and the Røde Wireless Pro at the same time, you'd have to rely on the recording in the Røde Wireless Pro TX units anyhow, because the DJI Pocket 3 shuts down all other audio inputs, once you enable the DJI Mic 2.
DJI, you've done it again! Thanks for bringing this to light - it's the kind of detail we all love to know. Can't wait to explore the possibilities!

Very hyped about the 32-bit float. DJI always adds these cool features quietly. Thanks for keeping us in the loop - you're the real MVP! 💎
There’s also digital audio clipping on the livestream via mic 2 on TH-cam rtmp but not on facebook…

what does the audio video sync toggle do exactly?

The answer is on the timecode video :)
As much as I've loved using the DJI mic 1, the lack of timecode is a deal breaker. Looks like I'll have to switch back to Rode.
They really missed a trick there. Such an oversight.
nice ;)
