I’m 70 years old and just bought DJI Mic 2 set for my G9II. Saw your video in my TH-cam feed and decided to purchase the DJI Pocket 3 as well. You explain stuff like a granddaughter talking to her grandfather. That’s a good thing. There are a lot of buttons and now I can pair BOTH my transmitters to my pocket 3 and put one mic on each of my two grandkids. We are heading out tomorrow and the two kids are going to film 5 historic sites in our small ski town in Central Oregon. Thanks again and I will be back often. Jim in Oregon
@OfficialTashika if you really need two, you can record audio internally on one transmitter. It’ll take extra time in editing to sync everything, but it would give you audio from 2 mics.
@@Gemini_Connect thank you this is a great option. I’m also wondering if we’re able to use the reciever with iPhone and the 2 mics like you can with the first mic
Thank you so much for this video. Late to the party getting the Pocket 3 and have watched a ton of videos, none of which went into this much detail on how to use the DJI Mic 2. This was extremely helpful.
I'm glad you finally told us how you got 2 of the transmitters. I see so many video's with people using 2 but we can't buy them. There is no reason dji couldn't make them available to purchase separately since the camera is setup to take 2. Instead, they will probably make us buy a complete package like the 1st generation instead of just 1 transmitter. I don't need another complete mic setup. I have plenty now. I will just need a 2nd transmitter.
I guess DJI is trying to sell and promote pocket 3 currently thus they are holding the sales of additional TX. Give it some time and they will release 1 with new charger case.
Nice video. I upgraded finally to the Osmo pocket 3 from stupid GoPro and I am BLOWN away. Hands down most amaizing thing ever. BUT, I wa sad about the external clip mics as it was TOO QUIET TO USE and I had to toss a full video because of it. I will try adjusting the gain and playing around with some of the settings. Hopefully it will improve . . . The MIC is my only complaint on this camera so far. If you are on the fence, just do it. It does take getting used to since the head moves so much, but it has so many features it just takes getting used to :)
Glad I’m not the only one who thinks the mics are low! The wireless mic sounds low to me even after raising gain to max +12. I mean it’s better but I feel should be louder for max.
I'm curious the DJI Mic 2 will accept a line level input on the 3.5 mm input. For example if you want connect an external mixer to the DJI Mic 2 transmitter.
Purchased a pocket 3 combo today. I bought the combo for the extra battery and the mic. So glad I found your video as it explained how to use my single DJI mic as an extra mic. It's a shame I still have to use the extra receiver at the bottom though. Great video. Subbed 🙂
Just revisiting this video in advance of the Jan. 17 announcement about the DJI Mic2 set. The one thing I'm disappointed about is the lack of a screw-down connection for a lavalier mic. I prefer to use a lav rather than have the transmitter clipped to my shirt, but I move around a lot in videos and cavaliers can get pulled out very easily. Anyway, do you have a specific lavalier mic you like with the dji mic2?
Thanks for the review on the DJI mic 2. 1/ Is it possible to connect a Rode wireless Go as a second Chanel with the DJI Mic 2 as the first channel so as to get stereo recording or 2 x mono? 2/ What are your thoughts on the quality of the Mic 2? 3/ Does the 32bit float functionality work if the transmitters internal recorder is not used?
Wow. Fantastic video. I was just wondering about almost every one of those questions...and here you go answering them all in one short video. Now I'll have to watch it again. I just got my Pocket 3 a couple of weeks ago and I'm trying to figure it out. You've saved me a lot of grief. I've just subscribed to your channel. Thanks for the great info.
very good videos . I have two of the dji osmo pocket 3's. I am still working on learning all to learn. My question is on the external mic. I have it paired and its on but when do I need to turn the transmitter button {red} on. or do I NEED TO USE IT. thanks
Excellent video. You answered all the questions I had as well. Appreciate it! Now we just need a standalone receiver for the new mics as well and we'd be golden!
I realise that this video was published 3 months agony now there is the DJI Mic available, does this mean that if you buy it separately as a second mic you can connect it to the Osmo Pocket 3, is this correct ? Thanks, appreciate your videos, clear and concise tips.
Love the video - Great job explaining everything. Question: I recorded some live music with the Mic Trans 2/Pocket 3. 32 bit On, Noise reduction On, Back Up audio On, The audio sounds like it's been compressed, and I was wondering if that could be the Noise Reduction? I played it using the VLC Player (free version) and on the P3 using the built in speaker. Would you recommend turning off Noise Reduction? Maybe plug a better mic into the Transmitter? I haven't listened to the audio recorded directly on the Mic 2 yet. Still Learning. Thanks for any help!
Thank you for answering the FAQ's. my microphone will not connect... I'm holding the connecting button on the mic. but the blue light never comes on. What do I do now?
Although you have answered so many questions about the DJI Mic 2, I still have one, and it concerns the scenario if you want to work with the DJI Mic 2 (for interviews) and with the stereo microphone of the Pocket 3 at the same time. When you turn on the P3 and the mic, do they connect automatically immediately, or do you have to reconnect the Mic2 every time? Because if you disconnect the Mic 2 and use it alone then you have to be able to use the stereo microphones directly on the Pocket 3?!
@mathiassiebert1217 With the latest firmware update, you can turn on the option "Built-in Mic Audio Backup" i.e. you can now record two way. Hope this helps!
Trouble is you then only have two transmitters that can only be used with the pocket 3. Really you want a transmitter and receiver pack so you can use the 2 mics with other cameras as well.
Love your videos - they're so informative! One question: do you have to use the wireless receiver, that plugs into the Pocket 3, to get the wireless mic to work? The mic does connect via Bluetooth, right?
GREAT INFO!! Thank YOU!. I do have another question.. I just got my Osmo Pocket 3 Creator combo. I got mic2 working with Pocket3 and S23 ultra. How ever i cant connect to Mimo app Pocket 3 if DJI mic2 is connected. I keep getting message "Device connected to DJI Mic. Unable to connect to app. Disconnect mic and try again" as soon i disconnect mic, OsmoPocket3 connect to app no problem. Have you tried connecting to app while mic2 is connected to the Pocket? Thank you for your time and wonderful information 😎
Your presentation was very good. I have an upcoming event with two speakers sitting side by side. I am concerned about getting cross talk between the mics. They will probably be around 4 feet apart. I wonder if I turn on noise reduction, that would lessen the possibility of cross talk between the mics?
Great video, you answered a lot of interesting questions! What are the beneficials to add Rode microphone to the dji? Can you taake the advantages of the bigger SPL diapasons ?
Wow looking to buy the pocket 3 bundle with the mic transmitter. Have searched everywhere for concise and good reviews. You nailed it. Answered all my questions in mind. Thanks. Subbed and hit the notif bell x
Got a few questions: 1. Can I connect an external audio source to the mic 2? For example a 3.5 audio cable with chinch on the other side. 2. Does the mic 2 safe my settings even if I want to record audio without the pocket 3? For example the low filter and gain? 3. What is the 3.5 headphone jack for on the mic 2? Do I really have to get a usb-c adapter to connect an external audio source to it or is that only necessary if I want to listen to the audio while recording? I'm asking cause I'm curious if I can use the mic 2 to record DJ sets 🤔 if yes that would be extremely awesome.
Any rumors as to when the Mic 2 will be available as a standalone purchase or as a kit like the DJI Mic with a receiver? I assume they'll sell the transmitters as standalone items and I also assume these will be the upgraded version of the DJI Mic with a charging case and a receiver, but I haven't heard much about when??? I've purchased my Pocket 3 already, but I'm waiting on it to ship. I currently use my Pocket 2 for most of my recording and I'm excited to have the 3 for the better quality it offers as well as using them together for multiple camera angles. I've also go the original Mic transmitter that came with my Pocket 2 so I can record audio on the Pocket 2 as well when I'm shooting with multiple angles, but I REALLY want 2 transmitters for the 3!!!!
Good comprehensive summary of the Mic 2 functions. Some matters have changed since the FW update in late November but that is the subject of other videos.
Hi! Nice Video! We’re new to content creation and are using the dual mic set up on our Pocket 3. Someone recently mentioned that my wife’s voice came out differently than mine during the video. I think it might be related to the audio merging you mentioned, but I don’t know how to do this. I’m using iMovie (basic I know) to edit videos, but I assumed the audio was merged there. Can you recommend how I can learn how to merge audio? Thanks!
Thanks for the excellent and comprehensive Q&A! Can the wireless mic transmit stereo sound to the Pocket 3 from a stereo mic connected to its 3.5mm input?
Great video. Appreciate your willingness to dig deep. I know the transmitter can record 32-bit float. I've heard that the internal recording in the camera from the internal mics is 32-bit float, but does the transmitter send a 32-bit float signal and is that captured in the Pocket 3? I have Pocket 3 and I've tried some tests, but I can't tell because the audio is wrapped in with the video file. The Pocket 3 manual states, "When enabled, the transmitter can independently record audio files in 32-bit float..." This implies that 32-bit float is only recorded to the backup file on the transmitter and not sent to the pocket 3. Any thoughts?
Big thanks as always, really informative and helpful...............one question please, apologies if it's been covered. Can you connect the Mic 2 to the Action 4 and use it in the same way as on the Pocket 3? No extra bits and pieces, remote control etc.
I think one of the other TH-camrs covered this, but no the wireless transmitter that would be necessary is built into the pocket three but not the action 4.
yeah, I think the real question for DJI is going to be what’s the price of a second transmitter when in fact, including a transmitter in the creator, combo probably is going to leave people not wanting to overpay.
I truly appreciate the wealth of information in your video! Could you kindly demonstrate if there's a method to connect either the DJI Pocket 3 or DJI Mic to bone conduction headphones via Bluetooth? As a dedicated videographer, monitoring my audio is paramount. Your assistance is immensely valued. Thank you!
thanks for the reply buddy, yes we can use USB-C attached to Pocket3 to monitor the Audio, but i am looking for a way to do that wirelessly..... even DJI does not have any firmware update to do that through Pocket3 or Dji Mic receiver.....
5:47 Pretty crucial to understand here as far as I know the 32bit float is not recorded to your video file? It is only recorded internally so you have to download it from the mic directly and sync audio separately to your video IF you want to use the 32 bit float files. Am I wrong? Nobody makes this clear in their videos which is frustrating. Just stating "yes there is 32 bit float" is not enough.
Hey. Will the mic turn on automatic when you are turning on osmo pocket3? If not, maybe you can turn on/off mic wirelessly from osmo pocket3? Or all the time you need to turn on/off mic with your fingers? Thank you
Someone posted a image of the stand alone extra transmitter on twitter (basically the TX, windfur, magnet, USB-C cable and a storage pouch), so clearly this accessory will be released but they don't have it on the DJI site yet...
I tried to connect a third-party wireless microphone by connecting a TRS female mini jack adapter to UBS C but it didn't work, yet I saw that it can be done. Do you know if it's possible? I tried with various microphones but none were seen, the internal ones continued to work.
Can you start recording video from the Mic transmitter? When I press the record button it just records audio, and when I press the link button it just unlinks
Does the DJI mic 2 power on/off automatically when you turn the Pocket on/off? One of my biggest gripes with the Rode wireless GO mics is that you need to constantly turn them on/off or else the battery drains and they won't last a full day of vlogging.
Do you have to press record on the dji mic 2 when using the osmo pocket 3? Or is pressing record on the osmo pocket 3 enough to turn on the mic as well?
Great video! Thank you Ms Suzi. Can you recommend us best wired lav mic to be used with Dji Mic 2? Like, Rode Lavalier II vs Rodelink Lav? I'm currently struggling to find out wired lav that have little to 0 interference (static buzzing sound). Especially if the lav gets close to the dji mic 2 unit.
Love you channel. I pretty much follow your gear selections. Having switched to the Pocket 3, I love the Mic 2 setup because I do not need to add a separate receiver. However -- my audio level is very low. I set the gain to +6 already. On the LCD it is showing hitting red during recording, but the audio in the video file is still low. I have to add +6 or 12 db in DaVinci to have the audio sounding normal. Do you think this is a bug? Do you have the same problem? Thx
For clarity, when you enable the internal recording feature on the Mic 2, does it prevent the OP3 from recording audio internally on the OP3? I ask because, if I can record 32-bit audio with the Mic 2 I would want to sync it with the OP3 internal audio. Is that possible? Also, thanks for pointing out you can connect the Mic 2 to an iPhone 15 Pro, which I have. That makes getting the OP3 even better.
@@jackeuwema3364 I’ve noticed that, fantastic. I’ve yet to try it but from videos it’s a huge leap forward for action cameras that can still be waterproof and have external mic
What a great video so many questions asked. I was dubious about a gimbal but it looks like a well done piece of kit. Im curious now to know what the noise floor levels are like between using the on board mic and the DJI Mic 2 Transmitter
Is there a way that when you power the camera OFF the audio transmitter will also power OFF? The transmitter stops when you stop recording - but when you turn the camera off the transmitter is still powered on. Merci. Love all the vids on pocket 3.
Best way is to disconnect mic 2 from Pocket 3 and record internally to that mic, and the native sound to the Pocket 3. It’ll require editing to synch the audio.
Thanks for the great video! If I connect the Pocket 3 to my laptop via the USB C port in order to be used in webcam mode for Zoom, what options are there for audio?
Here's a question. When vlogging I use the quick record option on the Action 4 so I don't have to keep the camera on all the time, only when I'm recording. When the mic 2 is connected via Bluetooth it will power off after around 15 minutes if not connected to the Action 4. So, after that time if I want to video something the mic is no longer connected to the camera and I have to manually turn on the transmitter again to reconnect to the Action 4. How can I prevent the Mic 2 from auto powering off when the Action 4 is powered off?
Awesome video! If the Osmo Pocket 3 is the receiver when you connect the mic wireless can you also move the receiver gain on the osmo pocket or do you need the actual mic 2 Receiver? I have the first dji mics and I record on techno parties so the transmitter is on -12 and the receiver on +6, is this also possible with only the dji mic 2 and the osmo pocket 3?
Excellent video again, one question, does the mic record 32bit float and transmit 32bit to the camera to be written with the video track or just natively to the mics internal memory for synching in post ? Hoping the Action 5 next year with have an internal RX and you can use the mic 2 with both the Action & the pocket. How about a video showing how to sync 32bit to the video in FCPX ? That would be useful. Best wishes Darren
Thank you for the good explanation. Could you tall me if it is possible to use original dji mic set, one of the mics and record sound on two channels? Whatever I use, mono or stereo regime, if I use one mic, the sound goes to a one channel, so I have to use two mics simultaneously. It’s not really comfortable.
Thanks for a great video. Answered a lot of questions I had! One extra one.. I've seen with the Rode Wireless setup an option for a handheld mic adaptor.. so it turns it effectively also into a wireless handheld mic. Is that an option? Thanks!
@@Gemini_Connect Thanks.. was curious if anyone had an adaptor.. it sounds like the Rode one can be adapted though.. or one could potentially 3d print an attachment along with a windshield and hand held shaft. Thanks
Hi...I am having connection issue green light blinks but own't turn to blue light for correct proper connection. Tried several times no luck,is there how to reset the dji mic? Thx.
Maybe this question got lost somewhere in the video and I didn’t see it. Can you use the DJI Mic 2 standalone without osmo pocket 3 being on? Like can I just plug in a lav mic into dji mic 2 and use the onboard recording to sync in post with another camera (such as a Sony Mirrorless)?
When you use the wireless microphone only for voice recording, the wav file records the sound very low, I could not find a gain setting to increase the sound.
You can only connect an external mic with a TRS plug, the mic 2 doesnt support a TRRS plug. Thanks to your video, I was able to find that out since I only have TRRS mics and none of them were working!
I like your enthusiasm. A lot of videos seem "fake" but you come off as "genuinely totally excited to talk tech." Now to test if the buttons work with a Insta360 X3....
Thank you. Wanted to know if I have the creator combo can I add the wireless mic 1 making it a 3 mic system? Also were you able to test the mic 2 with insta360 x3 or 360 1 inch type cameras ? Edit: I was able to connect it to my insta360 one rs 360 1 inch, so cool :)
Another GREAT feature of the DJ2 mic is that it will connect via bluetooth to both iphones and android phones , However, you will need a 3rd party app (like Black Magic) in order to use it in the video mode.

This is very informative video thank you for making it. I have 1 question, can you connect 2 DJI Mic 2 to a smartphone, IPhone 15 pro max?
You can only connect 1 DJI Mic 2 to a phone at the moment. Hopefully that will change someday!
@@Gemini_Connect Hopefully it does change as two would be better, thank you for your reply
@OfficialTashika if you really need two, you can record audio internally on one transmitter. It’ll take extra time in editing to sync everything, but it would give you audio from 2 mics.

How will the microphone record when the internal memory is full? Does it cycle in a circle or stop recording when the memory is full?
It has up to 11-16 hours available.

Very helpful. Thanks
If I don't get the creator kit can I buy this mic and adapter separate?
Not at the moment, but that may change soon!
@@Gemini_Connect thanks! The creator kit is sold out everywhere but I think I’ll wait for it :)
I couldn't seem to get the Lav working on the DJI Mic 2? It connects but no audio comes in?
Your vids are great quality, no fluff, thank you!
Can’t currently use the Mic 2 with the Action 4.
Most kind, thank you for looking it for me@@Gemini_Connect
I truly appreciate the wealth of information in your video! Could you kindly demonstrate if there's a method to connect either the DJI Pocket 3 or DJI Mic to bone conduction headphones via Bluetooth? As a dedicated videographer, monitoring my audio is paramount. Your assistance is immensely valued. Thank you!
I think you have to use the USB C for your headphones as she is saying at 1:22
thanks for the reply buddy, yes we can use USB-C attached to Pocket3 to monitor the Audio, but i am looking for a way to do that wirelessly..... even DJI does not have any firmware update to do that through Pocket3 or Dji Mic receiver.....
Question: Does Pocket 3 accept off brand USB-C wireless mics? The Action 4 does.
I tried to connect a third-party wireless microphone by connecting a TRS female mini jack adapter to UBS C but it didn't work, yet I saw that it can be done. Do you know if it's possible? I tried with various microphones but none were seen, the internal ones continued to work.
Which wireless mic was it? I haven’t tried this out with a wireless mic.
very very helpful! you answered all of my questions! Thank you and subscribed!
Can you start recording video from the Mic transmitter? When I press the record button it just records audio, and when I press the link button it just unlinks
can you connect a usb mic to the transmitter to make it wireless?
I’d love if the mic2 actually syncs with the action 4
That’s exactly what I’m waiting for, that would be totally awesome
I want that as well! As far as I can tell, it’s not yet possible.
It is now with the latest firmware update
@@jackeuwema3364 I’ve noticed that, fantastic. I’ve yet to try it but from videos it’s a huge leap forward for action cameras that can still be waterproof and have external mic
What a great video so many questions asked. I was dubious about a gimbal but it looks like a well done piece of kit. Im curious now to know what the noise floor levels are like between using the on board mic and the DJI Mic 2 Transmitter
Do the filters for Pocket3 also fit on Pocket1 ?
I don’t think so. But I don’t have the Pocket 1 to test
Is there a way that when you power the camera OFF the audio transmitter will also power OFF? The transmitter stops when you stop recording - but when you turn the camera off the transmitter is still powered on. Merci. Love all the vids on pocket 3.
Hi thank you for your videos! One question: how to record ambient sound together with mic 2 on? If internal mic disactivates when mic 2 is on...
Best way is to disconnect mic 2 from Pocket 3 and record internally to that mic, and the native sound to the Pocket 3. It’ll require editing to synch the audio.
So I have a dji mic 2 setup.
Will that connect to the pocket 3?
If yes then I don't have to buy the creator combo..what are ur thoughts?
Thanks for the great video! If I connect the Pocket 3 to my laptop via the USB C port in order to be used in webcam mode for Zoom, what options are there for audio?
Can I connect this microphone directly with smartphone android or iphone via Bluetooth?
From what I’ve seen so far, you need to receiver to adjust the gain.
@@Gemini_Connectdang it! Jajaja thanks for answering, love from Colombia! 🫶🏻
Best wishes
Darren
I was also wondering about that, as I think the Rode Wireless Go Pro records 32-bit but transmits 16-bit
Both.
If you put a silicone cover on the mic for protection, will it affect the sound quality?
Thank you for the good explanation. Could you tall me if it is possible to use original dji mic set, one of the mics and record sound on two channels? Whatever I use, mono or stereo regime, if I use one mic, the sound goes to a one channel, so I have to use two mics simultaneously. It’s not really comfortable.
Thanks for a great video. Answered a lot of questions I had! One extra one.. I've seen with the Rode Wireless setup an option for a handheld mic adaptor.. so it turns it effectively also into a wireless handheld mic. Is that an option? Thanks!
Yes, it can be. As long as the mic is held close enough to your subject.
Thank you for the video! awesome info!! One more question though, is the mic2 compatible with dji receiver 1? Thanks in advance!!
It’s not.
Thanks for all the contact that you are sharing is amazing thank you very much, indeed

When you use the wireless microphone only for voice recording, the wav file records the sound very low, I could not find a gain setting to increase the sound.
During the recording how to monitor the live audio on the mic2 by connecting wired headphones?
Can we connect with pc like you did with iphone.
Can you use your DJI Pocket 3 mic with a sony camerra?
Another GREAT feature of the DJ2 mic is that it will connect via bluetooth to both iphones and android phones , However, you will need a 3rd party app (like Black Magic) in order to use it in the video mode.
