    Lesson Learnt today from Danny : When I record myself in the bathroom, turn noise reduction 'ON'

    I can't believe how soft that deadcat is.

    Did almost the same tests yesterday with same results. People complaining about the Pocket 3 price should understand that they don’t buy just a camera, but a very solid and versatile audio recorder, which is as important as the image. Great job Danny.👍🏼

      I sure as hell am one of those who is still complaining about the price lol. But but but hear me out. Only because I already have a bunch of cameras and accessories that 'sorta' does the same stuff.
      So to get the same sorta results I can take my insta360 X3 or RS 1" and make the same sorta videos with my rode wireless go II mic(s) minus the 32bit onboard recording, but mic placement sorta overrides the 32-bit recording.
      Differences obviously is at least the pocket 3 is all in one "smaller" package aaaand setup is hella faster. I don't know I am still kicking the bucket on buying the Pocket 3. I figure if I do buy one, I'd need to sell some of my equipment first to get some of my money back. So I don't feel like an idiot buying this bit of kit.
      Seems solid though!

      @@JonasegwayI was in the exact same situation. I have all kinds of cameras, 360s, GoPros etc. But I bought the Pocket 3 Combo anyway and it feels so good 🤗

      @@Knypsterino your comment made me laugh pretty good. I am still struggling with getting it. I am trying to justify NOT getting it. If it could take complete control over my ZV1, i MIGHT get it. might might might.

    Nice! That noise reduction in the bathroom was pretty impressive.

    Can the mic be used as a standalone audio recorder without the Osmo Pocket 3 around?

    • @SergSpace
      @SergSpace 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Sure you can. I tried. It recorded audio file on Mic internal memory, just with really low gain, since it has no gain control. And I kept mic right next to my mouth.

    Amazing video, thank you for keeping it punchy and showing the noise reduction and a real 32bit float example. When I use a 32 bit float recording in FCP, can I use the same effects like compressor/limiter to level out all my audio like I would have done before?

    • @SmoothbassmanStudios
      @SmoothbassmanStudios ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, just make sure you adjust the clip gain to your file to bring it into the acceptable range before applying effects.

    I have a few questions regarding audio on DJI Pocket 3 and DJI Mic 2.
    1) If you record audio on the loose microphone DJI Mic 2, how long can you record in total before the memory is full?
    2) If you do not link DJI Pocket 3 and DJI Mic 2 together, you can record on both devices at once.
    3) If you connect a stereo microphone to the DJI Mic 2, will it be recorded in stereo?

    Great video. Brings my attention to a lot of things I haven’t learned yet about video recording. I don’t understand the kart about floating around 32 bit. Can you mess around with audio like say on davinci resolve? Like how you talked about bringing up the volume when all the sudden you talk quieter.

    Hey. Will the mic turn on automatic when you are turning on osmo pocket3? If not, maybe you can turn on/off mic wirelessly from osmo pocket3? Or all the time you need to turn on/off mic with your fingers? Thank you

      @@beniukas u need to connect DJI mic 2 first time. U can check any video on that. How to connect DJI mic 2 to pocket 3. Then after initial first time connection. From next time onwards just power on the pocket 3 and DJI mic will connect automatically and in DJI pocket 3 u can change settings of mic.

    No interest in vlogging, before selling Mic 2, is there any way I can make use of it for normal sound recording, is it perhaps better than the internal mics maybe in wind, or does it only really work when the sound source is up close? thanks

    • @SergSpace
      @SergSpace 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      By default Pocket 3 has 0 gain. But you may bump it up to +12 (When connected with Mic2 swipe screen to the left, scroll down to gain control). All noise around, including outside of your house will be in your recording.

    *Be advised, if you have updated to the latest firmware update for the DJI Mic 2, then you will notice this feature can no longer be accessed by pressing on the Mic link button. Now you can only access this setting via the on camera PRO Menu of the OSMO Pocket 3, turning on the greyed out mic icon, then scrolling down to the bottom to access Wireless Mic noise reduction on or off setting. I can find no official documentation from DJI about this loss of functionality on the DJI Mic 2.*

    In my early video days I would record environmental sound to mix in so there wasn’t such a stark difference between environment and voice-over locations and it sounded more natural. That’s my only gripe with having a close directional mic, with noise reduction on - it sounds unnatural.
