It is said it was also used as a form of worship by circling a great tree that symbolises the forest God, Mez-i-t'ha. This 'rondel' type variant is the ancestor of the populasied dance known as The Circassian Circle danced by the Circassians' distant Celtic cousins after a cultural influx in the 18th century. - Wikipedia

Wait a minute, this is the irish washerwoman
Yes! That's what I just said (out loud).
I suppose The Irish Washerwoman is just the newer title, after lyrics were put to it. ???
That's the Irish Washerwoman
who needs a B part anyway... /s
Wait a minute, this was the song used in the Errol Flynn movie about Custer's "last stand." It was the theme song for the 7th cavalry.
Didn't know that :D
Gary Owen
The Irish Washerwoman?
Custer's 7th cavalry: Garryowen, lyrics from an Irish drinking song
Garry Owen is a different tune again
Why circassian circle?
its one of the favorite dances in our area.
Long live Circassia!
Dargason or Hawthorn tree
Never played one of these but Dargason sounds really nice. So lets see
@@musicacalamus1416 It is the same melody. And also a jig often danced by Morris dancers.
there are often different melodies for the same dance or better people are are dacing the same dance to different melodies. the research to Dargason brought me to a different nice melody, which maybe we will pick up 🙂
