Part of why the marine armors are so colorful and saturated is that each chapter (subsect) of marines has its own heraldry and colors to identify each other. Ultramarines are a bright and saturated blue with bright gold trim, for intance, while Iron Hands are black with either no trim at all or a bright silver. They're proud of their heritage and make sure their armor shows that, even if it's entirely disadvantageous to them in combat.

There was an entry in either the Imperial Guard or Space Marine Codex that has a Space Marine telling an Imperial Guardsman essentially that they (Space Marines) wear the colors they do so that the enemy knows who killed them.

"The uniforms of the Imperial Guard are camouflaged in order to protect their wearers by hiding them from sight. The principle is that what the enemy cannot see he cannot kill. This is not the way of the Adeptus Astartes. A Space Marine's armour is bright with heraldry that proclaims his devotion to his Chapter and the beloved Emperor of Mankind. Our principle is that what the enemy can see, he will soon learn to fear!" -Chaplain Aston, 10th Company, Firehawks Chapter

On the color saturation/desaturation, Ultramarine Blue is a very specific color and hardcore fans will loose their stuff if the Space Smurfs aren't the right color. Astartes has the advantage of not being that chapter so they can play with the color palette a bit more. The "small" mechs are called Dreadnoughts.

@@ChompStudio I highly recommend that you check out the Dawn of War 3 announcement trailer. The game was a let down, but the trailer was a masterpiece. It is abstract and dreamlike in its presentation, but you get a feel for how Space Marines, Orks, and Eldar would be like from the point of view of someone living in the 40K setting. Looking at the tabletop hobby from our perspective, Orks are pretty fun guys based on english football hooligans, just making a racket and having the time of their lives when they are fighting. But in the cinematic they are presented as terrifying brutes, uncaring and beastlike. The Eldar were basically 80s glam rock space elves (40K had its first concept art in the late 70s IIRC, but crystalized into its thing in the 80s), but they feel much more alien in the cinematic. If you know of the late polish painter and artist Zdzisław Beksiński (who's art was oftentimes nightmarish) you will see the influence from his work in the cinematic, especially in the textures of the Eldar armor and the construct they are jumping out of.

So as it's been stated by a few others already, the giant guy in blue armor at 07:45 as well as the angry looking mother fucker at 09:45 are Primarchs, Robute Guilliman and Horus Lupercal respectively. Basically The God Emperor of Man had 20 sons created from his own genes to be generals and leaders with him to usher mankind into a new prosperity. Due to lore reasons, aka Games Workshop thought giving 2 legions no background to act as "Insert your own" legions was a good idea, 2 of the sons are expunged from all records and in books it was even hinted that if the primarchs ever mentioned them there would be trouble. Going back to the Horus Heresy at 07:55, that cinematic is set during one of the biggest events in warhammer, where Horus Lupercal, then corrupted by Chaos, led 8 other primarchs in a coup against the imperium, lots more lore there. But yeah those guys being so much bigger than the normal space marine, it's basically like you at 10 standing next to your father, odds were you would look very short too lol.

Helsreach is another single person Warhammer animation. I'd love to see someone with a designer background go through Helsreach. It's a visual effects thesis, an absolute masterpiece. I don't want to give too much away but essentially the entire visual aspect of the project is a storytelling meta-effect based on the main character. The voice-audio is largely taken from the audiobook of the novel. It's in 13 parts, and the effect is lost a little if you don't know which part you're watching, so it's best on the first go-through to not watch the combined version. I *cannot* overstate what an amazing piece of work it is.

So out of these Trailers, Iron within and The Exodite are already out in full over on Warhammer's personal streaming service, Warhammer+. Pariah Nexus is meant to be coming soon, Astartes 2 has been in production for atleast 2 years now, so it's probably still some years away but GW are being very close lipped about it.
The Horus Heresy and the New Edition trailers aren't trailers for shows, they're cinematic adverts for the newest editions of their respective tabletop games. New rules, so new trailer is generally how it works. There is hope they'll be adapted into a show at some point, as Pariah Nexus is an adaptation of the Previous Edition's Trailer..
As far as production goes. The exodite, Iron within and Astartes were all fan made animations, Games workshop hired those fans and they're now making animations for their streaming service. They don't disclose who's working on what, but the current consensus is that the Astartes creator worked on the New Edition trailer while Astartes 2 has been put on the backburner for the time being.

6:30 so that beacon is to teleport larger space marines into battle. Relics from the Age of Technology, they’re called Terminator armor. They can’t keep up with regular space marines who can move RIDICULOUSLY fast for their size, Terminators are often teleported in from the space marine dropship in low orbit. It’s called a Lightning Strike, and so long as a planet or enemy ship doesn’t have void shields, a teleportation move like that can jump extremely tanky units directly into combat.

The Horus Heresy was 10,000 year prior to the current setting. Those big walkers are Titans and there are few of them today that there were then. That beacon is a teleport scanner sorta, is scans the terrain around it to allow the marine to teleport accurately. That initial marine was running to defend it as it can take some time to get ready. Those green boyos are the Necrons the most powerful faction (technologically) in the setting and are old (60 million years old), they fought wars, yes wars plural, against literal gods, won, lost, won, then lost again, they had a long nap and have just woke up. The only thing stopping them becoming the dominate force is that they are few in number but we've only seen a few tomb worlds (where they were napping).

Someone will probably explain it more detailed, but I can at least give you the cliff notes for the Horus Heresy. The emperor created 18 sons to lead his new space marine legions back in 29K. Using the power of the warp, he tricked the chaos gods to create them…mini versions of himself that all excess at something to make them unique. The chaos gods, feeling robbed by the emperor using their power, flung all 18 children to the farthest corners of the imperium. They all grew up on different planets with different experiences, and because they’re mini versions of the emperor they’re all super strong and aged into adulthood quickly. Eventually the emperor found all 18 of his sons, and recruited them into The Great Crusade where they’d lead their space marine legions to take back all the planets humanity lost when the AI revolted a few thousand years ago.
Every space marine was part of a legion, which gave them the gene seed of the primarch (one of the emperor’s sons) that led them. This gave them not only immense powers above the average man, but also gave them the specialization that the primarch specialized in. So if you’re a White Scar space marine, you, like your father, have an inclination towards speed and rushing into combat. If you’re a salamander, you value fire and protecting civilians. This gene seed gave the space marines not only incredible power and abilities, but also a bond to their primarch. They were like their father, and the loyalty ran extremely deep.
Eventually, Horus, the favorite son and WarMaster for the Emperor, gained a vision by the Chaos Gods who wanted to manipulate him. They showed a future where the emperor was viewed as a God and all the secrets the emperor his from his sons. In a rage he converted half of the 18 primarchs to join him in overthrowing the emperor. They all had an axe to grind with him, and were easily swayed once the option to get their father out of the way became viable. And that was the start of the 9-year long event known as the Horus Heresy in 30K. The events and outcome would change the universe of 40K forever.

I swear that i do not want to be nitpicky... but there was originally 20 sons/Primarchs. the 2nd and the 11th are both redacted from the histories of the Imperium and there are small tidbits of evidence that suggest that "Leman Russ" the Wolf King, one of the Primarchs also known as the "Emperor's Executioner" had actually moved against them and likely killed them under the command of the Emperor for reasons unknown. This also plays into the fact that maybe the reason why there are so many ultramarines is because they had likely absorbed one if not both of the other censured/disbanded legions.

I think these all look promising. Astartes is a tough reference point, since it's so excellent at delivering 40k's fantastic universe in an almost tactile way. You feel the weight of the space marine's steps and each laser blast is a devastating explosion. This also carries on in the audio design. Newer projects likely cannot take as much time and go into as much detail. There are also just different visions and styles.
What kinda bothered me the most was seeing Horus stabbing another space marine with his energy claws. I think the effects should show off why that is possible with energy claws i. e. what kinda power is required to pierce their ridiculous tank armor.
Then there is also like story stuff like space marines just facing off tyranids in ways that will clearly get them killed even though they are actually quite skilled fighters... or the eldar hover bikes just flying towards a line of imperial guns that can clearly just pick them off.

I mean my guess on why a lot of these trailers are so vibrant and saturated with color is because it helps reflect the physical tabletop game and how you can paint your armies in a variety of colors, so it helps connect fiction with reality to me at least. There's an in-universe reason too, at least for space marines: They are proud warriors, and just like how medieval knights carry the livery of their house the space marines carry the colors of their brotherhoods into battle.

I'd have to say that the variety of color palettes in the Roboute Guilleman "Victory" video is simply keeping true to form with those from the tabletop games played with miniatures, where distinct color sets both by race and type are often the clearly defining characteristic on a board full of miniatures. Along the way, these have come to be quite distinct, with various colors of energy weapons and related palettes tend to be representative, or at least have certain association depending on other factors: like those green blasts of energy we all associate with Necrons, for example. Since the video covered so many different battles with different types of enemies in different environments, I think they were trying to keep it consistent with what players expect. Yes, they probably could have desaturated it some, but perhaps this is their "Speed Racer" to the Astartes' "Matrix"?

Abbadon the Despoilers (the tall Space marine you mentioned) are uncharacteristically tall for a Space Marine, closer to the size of a Primarch.
In full power armor, a Space Marine can move faster than a regular human eye can perceive. A regular human eye can perceive speeds around 900km/h at the absolute limit. Space Marines, fully armed and armored, CAN MOVE FASTER THAN THAT.
Worst part is that the Primarchs, the guys that the regular Space Marines are based on, could move so fast SPACE MARINES couldn't perceive their movements. Which is just wild. The guy with the laurels on his head in one of the other trailers is a Primarch.
    As for Sizes among Space marines;
Space Marine: 8-9ft average, with some outliers
    Primaris Marines: 9-10 average,
    Custodes, 10-11 average,
Primarchs. 8-12. Special note. The Primarchs ranged wildly in physical stature and appearance and so the average among them would be around 9-10. The smallest was Alpharius which was within the average of a regular Space Marine, while Vulcan was standing an impressive 11'8. Magnus is an outlier here as his size and appearance appears to be in flux, suggesting he might have inherited a certain ability from the Emperor. Speaking of...
The Emperor of Mankind: The dudes a god-damn shape-shifter, he's described as small as 5'11 in one part, then towering 14ft later on. Likewise, the details of his appearance seem to be on a per-person basis. So one person might perceive him as blonde, while another might see him having black hair. Giving an exact size, is as such impossible due to the fluid nature of his physiology. The body that is interred on the golden throne is about 14ft, however. Give or take.

The walking Mech you saw in the 10th Edition Trailer opening fire on the Aliens and getting overwhelmed if a Dreadnought. Essentially a weaponized life support.
When an Astartes gets injured to the point where continuing battle is not possible but they still technically have a pulse they can be interred into one of these Dreadnoughts which will keep them alive, sealed in an amniotic sac behind several inches of metal.
When not in battle they're kept in stasis for decades or sometimes centuries at a time, often waking up each time to find all their former comrades have long since passed because keeping a Dreadnought active is extremely draining on the body (or what remains of it) and can sometimes drive an Astartes mad from the overexertion-

Yes, that is a teleport beacon, used mainly by Terminator squads to instant reinforce with their HEAVY armour. A suit of Terminator armour is like wearing a main battle tank :P
The minigun that one is carrying is an Assault Cannon, which fires standard 30mm solid slugs at 100+ rounds per second. The twin barreled gun underslung on one's arm is called a Storm Bolter, which is basically a double-barreled boltgun which is mounted mainly on Terminators and tanks due to it's heavy recoil.
That "Thor" guy is a Chapter Librarian, basically a Space Marine psyker who has trained for years to control his power without succumbing to the horrors of the Warp. They generally don't wear full helmets in combat, instead using a psychic hood to help protect their minds from external threats and augment their own power.
The big blond guy with laurels on his head is one of the few surviving Loyalist Primarchs, Roboute Guilliman of the Ultramarines. Stabbed in the neck by a poisoned blade wielded by his former brother Fulgrim (now a Daemon Prince of Slaanesh), he was placed in a stasis field for the next 10000 years. Now in the 41st millennium, Belisarius Cawl has restored him with a special suit of power armour engineered to heal his wounds, and he is now acting regent for his father The Emperor after the events of the 13th Black Crusade that split the Imperium in half (literally, a huge line of warp storms called the Great Rift has physically isolated one half of the galaxy from the other).

Gw also hired the creator of astartes to work with them, it’s unknown what they do now but the speculation is that astartes 2 is no longer happening and the guy works as part of gw’s in house animation studio who produce the 10th edition trailer, horus heresy trailer, and pariah nexus.
Space marine 2 trailer was likely given by saber interactive to an independent animation studio at gw’s direction as that seems the norm for most game trailers.

The "Giant robot boy" was a Dreadnaught. Essentially a space marine who's still 'alive', but lacks the ability to physically move, is placed inside one of those walking behemoths and directly hooked up to the machines sensors/computers.. essentially turned into a Bio-mech that is 'shut down' / 'put to sleep' between missions, so that they may continue to serve the god-emporor even after their body fails them.
The "Beacon" taht was placed down, did allow for a site-to-site Teleport, and the Marines that showed up were the middle-ground between the regular marines, and that walking behemoth you saw. Called Terminators, they are essentially walking tanks. Space-marines armed with the same weapons you'd find on small vehicles or as secondary weapons on larger tanks, with much thicker armor than a regular space-marine.

Some of the official Games Workshop cinematics are meant to really look like the tabletop game which is why it's a bit more cartoony, the proportions are a bit weirder and so on. The Horus Heresy cinematic is one of them but it is still my favorite because Horus is damn cool. But I also generally prefer the more realistic style we see in Astartes and the Space Marine game.
I like it when they take more inspiration from the artwork rather than the tabletop models, the detail is just so much greater.
I don't mind the colors not being saturated since their colors are kind of like medieval heraldry. Medieval movies and sci-fi movies tend to end up being way too desaturated and gray in my opinion. In history knights and samurai and everyone in ebtween loved colors and extreme detail, the more colors and golden threat you used for your cloth the richer and more pwoerful you appeared so knights shouldn't be too gray. Same with sci-fi that uses the same themes like Warhammer and Dune. Though the Dune movies have gone for the modern desaturated look which I'm not that big of a fan of. It lessens the difference between the great houses and the fremen alot. The fremen should be the desaturated desert-colored people blending into the environment, but the great houses should wear their heraldry like a medieval royal family. The Sardaukar should be decorated like gladiators just to instantly show their status. In the movies most people don't even know who the sardaukar are, they look like everyone else. Not a fan of that kind of sci-fi.

Regarding their armour, it might help to think of marines not as ultra modern special forces, but like medieval knights whose arms and heraldry show their history and alliegience (as well as often details about their own achievements if you look close enough).
This has at least one practical purpose in addition to the pride the asartes have in their lineages - each chapter fights and thinks differently - and chapters drawn from different progenitor legions fight VERY differently. Being able to instantly identify chapter markings gives imperial and other astartes commanders an idea of what unfamiliar astartes encountered in the field may do in a given situation - salamanders will prioritise minimiaing civ casulaties and securing population centres even to the detriment of their own position and other objectives. Black templars are going to charge right down the foe's throat, etc.

Primarchs the originators of the Astarties are roughly from 9'11" in height to about 14' (that being Vulcan). Big E (emperor of mankind) is said to be between 14' to 19/20' FT in height (depending on edition and depiction). Astarties also know as Space Marines are Genetical and surgically altered Humans. From the the Astarties film you reacted to the being that was kneeling/praying was a Adeptus Mechanicus Priest that was corrupted by another God apposed to Big E their name is Tzeentch (I assume is what corrupts the Adeptus Priest). The large mechs you see in the Horus Heresy are titans they are the largest land based titans controlled by a human and few other people to control its systems and its guns but the sad thing is no one knows how to make them anymore and the smallest titan Warhound Scout Titan and it goes all the way up to the Imperator and Warmonger which can be seen from space and if you send enough they can destroy planets

12:43 Some people prob pointed that out before, but the reason he calls them *"His Angels",* is because Space Marines are basically seen as Imperial propaganda throughout the Galaxy, they are so rarely seen by the common populace, you can live up to a century and never see one, because they're only sent to the absolute worst of the warzones even the most specialist Imperial Guard Regiments can't handle (and believe me, they already handle ALOT), so it comes from the mythos that *"The Emperor's Angels come from the sky, and deliver His wrath unto His enemies"* because Space Marines usually deploy from massive drop pods that drop from their ships high in space right in the heat of battle.

The warhammer boys are mainly blue, that is a controversial statment, I will heartily recommend giving Bricky's "Every Single Warhammer Space Marine Legion in a Nutshell" a view if you want to know more about the different legion. It is a long video, 40 minutes. And is more of a background knowledge thing, the same goes for Bricky's Every single Warhammer 40k (WH40k) Faction Explained, which are in two parts, both running 50+ minutes. That, of course, is if you want some knowledge of the universe in general. (The blue boys are the poster childs of the space marine, and tend to be the ones given most media attention)

6:01 you were close. It's a beacon for teleporting. Basically, how teleporting works for humans is a little inaccurate so to not end up scattered all over the place (or in a wall) they can use a teleporter homer so they can be pin point with getting people in. Some armor also has that function which allows them to act as a marker for others trying to teleport in or to get the wearer back to the ship.
I don't know about the Warhammer + stuff but with gaming I think it's on the game company to make the cinematics. Games Workshop isn't the one making these games, which is something I think people forget but that's a pet peeve of mine. They are just licensing out the IP with stipulations so in the case with Space Marine 2, I'm pretty sure Saber is the one in charge of making or hiring someone to make their trailers. Like in the case of Dawn of War 3, Sega took over form THQ to make that game, but Blur Studios did the opening cinematic for it.
The Space marine 2 trailer was a bit weird for me though. Don't get me wrong I like it, but they get really small details like the soldiers having purple eyes so you know they are from Cadia. Which shows some real care and knowledge of the franchise, but the scene here 11:43 were the gaunts back off when they see the space marines is just weird. Like how nids work is the little guys are under a psychic web of control put out by the big guys with the swords. it's so pervasive that the little gaunts will do things like throw themselves into gears to prevent a gate from closing without hesitation. They can't react to fear in that state so seeing them back off is just wrong. I get the idea form a narrative perspective. You want to show these Ultramarines are a threat so you have the little people act scared of them. But it's like the most anti nid thing to do. Still, it's a small moment. doesn't ruin anything it's just weird that everything else is so on the nose but they did that.

Huge boy in the Horus Heresy trailer is (rather obviously) Horus, one of the Emperor of Mankinds sons, and leads half of them in a civil war against him. The Emperor's sons, called Primarchs each had a legion of space marines. The space marines are genetically and cybernetically modified to be supersoldiers based on the genetics of their Primarch. The heresy is THE defining moment of the Imperium of Man 5000 years before the present timeline. Horus dies, but also brutally wounded the Emperor, the Emperor sits on a device called the Golden Throne that is extending the last seconds of his life. See the Emperor empowers a psykic device called the Astronomicon, this beacon is used to navigate in FTL, without it the Psykic Navigators can't tell where they are going. When he dies FTL space travel does too. Gulliman one of the loyalist Primarchs is the blue guy talking about Victory in the 10 edition trailer. He's also only recently been somewhat healed pulled out of stasis from devastating (and poisoned) injuries off one of the traitors that followed Horus. He is currently fighting severe Depression over the ignorant, corrupt, religious zealot mess the Empire has become. Fortunately he is the Imperial Regent of the Empire and is starting to fight back.

Its a really short trailer, but its right after astartes in my books, graphics, dark grim mood, good soundtrack, not sure if it will ever be released as full, but the trailer is definitely worth the watch. I know in a lot of their media they intentionally make their characters look a bit like their table top figures but I hate it. If they have a whole subscription based streaming service they should take from astartes popularity and go for the realistic look since a streaming service is now more than just the table top.

    A Propos The Horus heresy
The "Man" Speaking is, well Horus himself.
One of the Emperor's Sons, the Primarchs, 20 geneticly engineered Beings from the Emperror's Own genetic material.
Primarchs where the Emperor's Top Diplomates and Military leaders, each was at the Head of a Legion of Space Marines.
With each commanding a Large Fleet and Imperial Army(whom will be later re-organised as the Imperial Guard) and would go from Planet to Planet to Liberate Human colonies lost long ago during the Age of Strife and the Dark Age of Technology( so somewhere between 18th millenia and 25th millenia) to bring them back into the Imperial fold and be part of the Imperium of Humanity.
Now each Primarch, was actually abducted and scattered by the Chaos Gods to prevent the Emperor to achieve his grand Design, each Primarch thrown into the literal cosmos in their infancy and landing on a Planet.
Despite this, the Emperor's work on the primarchs genetic material was enough for him to create the 1st Founding of Astartes, the 1st Space Marines Legions, also called Primogenitors.
One Legion per Primarch, using the genetic material of each primarch to build them into their Primarchs image.
The Emperor( wich we will call Big E for simplicity's sake) launched the Great crusade, to reconquer the Stars and bring back lost colonies and find the Primarchs.
After some time he would find the Primarchs, each of them due to their Demi-God status, became the leader of the societies and civilisations that took them in, either through brute force, Cunning, or Diplomacy.
When meeting his sons Big E gave them each the command of their Space marines Legions, and started recruiting new recruits amongst the population of their "Home worlds", making them effectively the Legion's Homeworld.
Now Each primarchs grew up and where influenced by the cultures and people they've grew up with, and despite being genetic Brothers and considerign BIG E as their Father, they where as much strangers to one another than they would be brothers.
SOme where so different to one another in their ways, that they could barely stand each others presence if it wa not for Big E's authority.
The Great Crusade was slowly raching the end of its pirpose, when nearly the Whole Milky Way Galaxy was under Imperial Control, and His Sons and Legions where making good progress without his oversight being needed, he decide to go back to Terra(earth) and finish his biggest Project and gift to Humanity.
He named his 1st Son and favorite, Horus, as the Warmaster of the Imperium's armies, leaving the Great Crusade in his hands.
But things beign what they are and 40k being what it is, things would sooner or later Hit the Fan and spread some T H I C C shit all around...
A Scheme was put in place by the Traitor Erebus from the Word Bearer's Legion, to influence Horus and through some scheming would make Horus suspicious of the Emperor and his plans.
Feeding Horus paranoia after afailed attempt at diplomacy with a Human settlement and using his own Ego against him, Horus fell to the whispers of the Dark Gods of Chaos.
Becoming their Champion, using scheming and cunning to raly 9 of the Primarchs behind his cause and provoked the Civil War that would have devastating repercussions even 10.000 years later for the Imperium and the whole galaxy, the Horus Heresy...
Aftr this Civil war ended, Half of Humanities Forces where either annihilated or declared Heretics, the Heretics all fled to the Space Anomaly called "the Eye of Terror", a gigantic permanent Warp Storm where the Warp and the real space would merge and mingle.
Horus was ultimatly killed by the Emperor and the Emperor was left fataly wounded by Horus.
BIG E was placed in emergency on the Golden Throne on Terra, a gigantic Device tat was supposed to be Big E's goft to Humanity, now became a life extending device.
Since he was enthroned 10.000 years ago the Emperor as sat immobile, slowly rotting away and being barely kept alive as long that he's fed 1000's Psyker's souls a day, emetting a Powerful psychic Beacon that can be seen in the Warp, and that serves as a Lighthouse light for ships to set a course through the Warp and not lose their way.
To this day the Heretics and traitors who rebelled against the Emperor 10.000 years ago are still active, since in the Eye of Terror time is flowing slowly or even backwards.
The Traitors re-organised into Warbands in service of the Chaos Gods or their own desires and Greed, raiding the Imperial worlds, spreading death and destruction onto the Inhabitants of the material univers.
They are called Chaos Space Marines, or Traitor Astartes, and they are the Biggest thorn in the side of the Imperium.

A sidenote toward the "mech guy" ... others have explained what a Dreadnaught is, but here is some extra background as to "why".
You will never see actual robots on the imperial side. Artificial Intelligence is banned, its heresy of the highest order (due to history, an AI rebellion in the past).
Any big machine has a human, or some remnant of a human, inside it, making it function.
Even the titans of the Horus Heresy trailer ... the guy on the throne, the principes, is controlling that cathedral-sized machine as if it was his own flesh and blood, his brain is linked to the machine.
