I just got my R5 today! Decided the Mk II was overkill, since I only shoot stills and no video. I have used the 100-500 and 200-800 to good effect on my R6 Mk II, and once these batteries charge, I'm really looking forward to seeing how things go with the R5!
Same! I just picked one up for $2300! That's like $1600 off the release retail price. And it was brand new too. No shutter count. The value for money is INSANE when you think about it compared to the mkii, which is basically around $2000 more than I just mentioned. You could almost buy 2 R5's for that price. You could buy an R5 and and R7 and have both crop and FF.
@@preven2296 I got it off Ebay! I've had the best deals on Ebay for camera equipment over the last 10 years. Never once bought a piece of faulty equipment. The only hassle with Ebay is shipping options.
I love my R5! I have been rocking the R5 as my only camera with the RF100-500 for more than two years. It has never let me down. I am about to pull the trigger on the R7 as I need a backup camera and a second body as my son started to join me on my wildlife trips.
Just ordered a brand new R5 today 🥰 in the past I switched from the R5 to the R5c… but not happy with it. Now with this price at the moment it‘s time for my second R5 😁 The R5ii will be incredible… but it will be not cheap I thing 😉🤪
Been dual wielding R5's and recently acquired Sony's A1 and man o man was I impressed! If Canon's R5 II isn't up to expectations I'm seriously debating completed switching to the A1's full time. Custom Buttons have way more options, ergo is way nicer feeling, lighter, smaller, for video you have variable shutter, its stack bsi 50mp sensor is just amazing.30 fps shooting, lacks 8k raw but still shoots 8k. The flip screen is better in my opinion as well. Canon if you're listen add this Sh%t to the Canon R5 II so I can save money an not switch systems!
Yeah, I love my R5 but knowing other cameras have advanced features gives me hope for the mark ii, but we’ll see. I thought about getting a sony just for aurora video but i can wait a little longer
Good review, agreed with all points. An R8 might work well for vlogging purposes using just the lens IS and a bit of Digital IS, and it may be a little better at high ISOs. Although if you disable the IBIS and lens IS on the R5 and rely fully on the Enhanced Digital IS instead, that might also work well, works great with the RF 16mm f/2.8 STM lens.
I’ve heard nothing but great things about the R3, I never tried it out. However, the 20mp sensor is the preventative feature for me wanting to test it out as its limiting for wildlife
@KrisLuckPhoto but people don’t realize that it’s a high quality 20mp sensor comparable to the R5’s 45 mp sensor. The camera was $5999 for a reason when it came out 2 years ago
@@KrisLuckPhoto Watch some of the earlier comparison videos on YT from when it was first released. The Photos coming out of the R3 are sharp when you crop in. The 20mp allows for superior low light performance and the quality of these megapixels are quite good
What "low light performance" do you speak of? The R6 already did great in low light. The R6ii just does a tiny bit better. The IBIS usually takes care of most of it.
Yeah and then you make a TH-cam video with it and it makes me sick because of how much the video wobbles when you vlog 🤮. Sure for photo it’s amazing but video it is not up to standard.
Wide angle video yes, i mentioned the wobble and high iso in video as the 2 biggest downfalls in the r5 for video. I think it does fairly well when paired with an RF lens 400mm+ handheld. Most of my wildlife footage is handheld and stabilized in post

I am so happy the R5 MK II was announced so I could finally afford the R5 MK I!

What about the r6 Mk ii
That's the one to look at and beat at this point. I'm deliberating on this or the R6 MKII
Just fyi @5:30 you said the R5 and R5C have the wobble. The R5C does not have ibis just the R5.

it is still the best >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hey Kris, what is the lens on that camera? 100-300 or 100-500? (or 70-200...?)
100-500

I love mine...
is that an insta360 camera mounted to the hot shoe? Can we see the footage of what that looked like? :)
Yeah, working on a video for it, maybe will have it up in a week or 2. I have some footage on instagram though, check out my recent Sea Lion reel
@@KrisLuckPhoto I will check it out, thanks man.

Did they fix the low-light performance in the R6 MK II?
What "low light performance" do you speak of? The R6 already did great in low light. The R6ii just does a tiny bit better. The IBIS usually takes care of most of it.
I dont think so. Newer cameras should have the tech now. R5ii, r1, probably the r6iii will be far superior
Now the R5 MK II is better ;)
The best is Lumix s5II , for 1700$ . R5 has a lot of flaws for 3300$ if we speak about both photo&video
Nikon is better!
Jk! Nikon sucks 😂
