Sometimes reading the manual helps. You can adjust the focus racking speed in video mode on the R5. If you’re keen, watch Christopher Frosts R5 review just after the 10 minute mark. Cheers!
I sold my Canon 5d Mkiv and 5Ds, to move over to mirrorless, purchasing a secondhand R5, I think it was a wise move and love using the R5. I don't tend to write cameras off just because a new model comes out.
for pure photography, especially landscape, 5DSr makes more sense economically, with modern advances in denoise techniques like PureRaw 4. professionals making money might not skimp and get R5 really, also video work with R5 is a dream.
@@PhotoFeaveragree BUT a few improvements I find may change me. Dynamic range , lighter, articulated screen to list a few.. But a question can it extend shutter beyond 30 seconds without turning on Bulb mode - like Nikon?
Love my R5. The best camera I have ever owned. Most USA Canon Authorized dealers are selling at $2,999. Hopefully, Canon announces the R5ii specs soon. But I am thinking about adding a Sony A7iv to get into E-mount glass. Loved seeing your photos from my neighborhood at Arches NP and Bryce Canyon.
I professionally shoot canons (R6, 50d, 70d, Elan 7) but picked up a Fujifilm X-H2 for personal work. It's ASP-C but they punch way above their weight class. You might checkout the Fujifilm X series before you jump to Sony.
I picked an R5 refurbished at Canon during a recent sale for $2,399. Since I’m moving on from Nikon DSLR, I figured I’ll go with a Canon R5, then wait a couple years until Canon works out any kinks on the R5 Mark II and trade up. I’m an enthusiast who likes to shoot a little bit of everything, so the R5 specs, at that price point can’t be beat.
The R5 is the best camera I’ve owned (and there’s been many over the years). I’m really enjoying it for wildlife, landscape, Astro and macro. I have just two RF lenses and while they’re expensive I have absolutely no complaints about their quality. I’d been shooting a high megapixel Sony and am pleased with the change.
Record limit was related to a now irrelevant tax / import duty issue, higher rates being applicable to video cameras, defined as one capable of 30 minutes or more recording capability.
I expect the R5 will come down in price when the Mark II is announced or available. I will be upgrading from my RP, which I purchased for "early access" to the lovely RF glass.
Just picked up a new R5 for $2899 USD. I shoot portraits and events so the R5, along with my R6 MKII, are a pretty good duo. I don't really shoot video.
One of the things not many youtubers mention is that this camera brings a new life to EF prime lenses. The autofocus is so good that my Ef 50mm f1.2 has come back from retirement
@@daegar2 totally agree gonna pick up a used r5 this black friday I hope canon refurb has them for $2200. last year they were $2500 iwth one year warranty.

i have the 5DMK III and after 12Years, now i think about an upgrade, because of video, not rly for photos, because i can do all thinks with the 5D and still looks great and i love the mirror and the viewer, its so clear instead of this for me shity digital viewer :) so 3,5Yeahr is not a long time for this camera and upgrade when you have them :D
incredible how it lowered it cost as new after few months as R5MkII has come out. Today I can buy one for around 2450 € and that 's what I'm going to do but first I want to see when R6 MK III comes out as one of the reason I want a mirrorless is shooting some videos of RC ariplanes and sport thou it will be no more than 20% of its usege

you can control autofocus speed in video on r5 and r6 on page 3 of the AF menu
The overheating was solved on firmware 1.6. You have to change your temperature to high. Literally can do 8k for 2 hours with no overheating.
It is still running hot (this creates a lot of image noise in the raw data), but it will run longer before shutting down.
someone's gonna hack the new Mark II fan grip to work on the old r5 i bet.
@@southbridgeforestHOA But it doesn't overheat anymore. They need to hack it to remove the 30min time limit

For $2399 that is a wise move.
Canon had the refurbished R5 priced at $2199 recently. So, I snagged one! It's an upgrade from the EOS R for me.
@@rodfiori1968 I missed that sale by a day. But we got a deal through Rakuten and got 10% bonus, so we got $239 back.👍
just grabbed one for $1999! $500 cheaper than the r6ii's retail price.
May I know the brand and model of your Camera case at 6:31 of the video? THank you.
You can buy a brand new R5 from HDEW in the UK from around £2,800 with warranty. Still a great camera for 2024.
I'd recommend HDEW. Got my R5 and many RF lenses there.
How does it do for nighttime filming in really low light? Is it as good as a Sony FX3?
Does R5 overheats in 4k 60 fps when shoot in IPB ?
I only shoot stills. The R5 is still the best portrait camera I’ve seen.
Definitely, the photo quality is amazing. One of the best cameras you can buy 👍🏻
