- According to MSRDC’s project proposal, out of 4,217 km, 94 km of the Mumbai-Pune Expressway has already been completed, and 701 km of the Nagpur-Pune Samriddhi Highway is nearing completion. The first phase of this is starting in the next few days. This Samriddhi Highway will be extended by 180 km Jalna-Nanded and 141 km Nagpur-Gondia highway. At the same time, the 106 km Gondia-Gadchiroli and 156 km Gadchiroli-Nagpur highways will be part of the Samriddhi expansion. Apart from this, Mumbai and Sindhudurg will be connected through the 318 km Konkan Expressway, while the Virar-Alibaug Multi-Purpose Highway will be developed in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region and will be 98 km long. Devendra Fednavis 5000km expressway plan. A 168 km highway will be constructed to remove traffic congestion in Pune. It also includes the projects of 760 km Nagpur-Goa Shaktipeeth Expressway and 180 km Pune-Nashik Industrial Highway, both of which have recently been called for tenders.
For the development of Marathwada, a 300 km Shirur-Beed-Latur State Border Highway is proposed, while Nashik-Dhule-Jalgaon-Amravati-Nagpur will be connected through a proposed highway of 650 km. The proposed project also includes the 125 km Aurangabad-Jalgaon highway and the 240 km Shegaon-Akola-Nanded highway.

Maharashtra is ahead of UP in terms of quality of expressway. UP is building it's expressway through bituminous technology which is very cheap and also easy to build hence so many expressway are built this fast but when the expressway was inaugurated after some days it's road had potholes and also some patch of expressway got buried under the soil which is cause of concern of safety but on the other hand Maharashtra govt is building it's expressway using concrete and giving it the time to perfectly build the expressway so that the heaviest vehicle could easily travel through it and don't do any damage to it in the next 50 years span.

The expressway was supposed to be completed earlier, but the Uddhav Thackeray government that came after the Fadnavis government only changed the name and did not do any other work, so the expressway remained incomplete.

@@stanleyif7988 The fact is vidarbha and marathwada regions are too much backward. Govt focused only on mumbai and pune. Vidarbha people want separate state so that politicians here focus on only this region. Even Fadnavis and Gadkari wants Separate Vidarbha but after becoming CM of Maharashtra fadnavis can't focus on one region bcoz he has responsibility of whole Maharashtra. But in future it seems possible bcoz of backwardness of Vidarbha. Still there is no companies investing and youngsters here migrate to other big cities or pune, mumbai for jobs

Uttar Pradesh's first expressway was Agra Lucknow expressway which was opened in 2016, not 2022. Also roads like Bundelkhand Expressway shouldn't be called expressway as it's just 4 - 6 lane, Rajasthan has better national highways than that
