Best episode ever. Love the YMCA. Swimming lessons as a child translated to being a swim instructor there as a young adult. One of the few organizations that has it right. ❤️
A very moving story about Canada's YMCA. This video demonstrates a high quality leadership in the organization which has and will continue to have very worthwhile roles to play.
He kept saying "This would never have happened between the national CEO and frontline workers/volunteers"...I hope he realizes that he is creating his own boundaries and roadblocks there because CEOs CAN and SHOULD spend time with all levels of their organization. To lead, you must know how to be lead.
Never met anyone in upper management that was sensitive enough to consider either side of this argument lol. Probably a different reason OP isn't the boss I suspect.
XxSniperElite20 Civ-641, Right!? I thought about it, and realized that maybe if there isn't enough of a stump left, then a prosthetic has nothing on which to attach. The biggest flaw was Bob/Scott didn't do anything about the lack of a safety harness that he griped about while on the ladder adjusting the canvas teepee cover. As the COO, he has to dish out the bad, as well as the good.
You can’t just give someone a prosthetic. It’s a process to get it fitted. However, he could have donated money to get him a new prosthetic if he could.
@Crow They shape the prosthetic to you, not the other way around and nothing is glued lol. You put it on when you wake up, take breaks as needed, and take it off for bed. It's like shoes--you even wear a "sock" for padding and to help with chafing
They didn’t really give them personal help in my opinion. Since he lost his leg with the YMCA I feel they could have gotten him a prosthetic leg. That was sad to me..
42:40 If you want to truly make the sign-up process more accessible you would acquire some tablets that are connected to your system and then when someone comes in they can select their language and if they are blind they can have it verbally read to them with voiceover or talkback. If this was in all of the locations then no matter where someone goes they will be able to have the same equal access.
? Where do you live/how many have you visited? We have some beautiful YMCAs in Minnesota. Back in the '80's, when I first started using the Y, it was a pretty old Y in Austin, Texas. So, maybe it's an older organization in the US, so the facilities maybe can be more dated.
Well, reading up on the YMCA on Wiki, it says that YMCAs opened both in Canada (Montreal) and US (Boston) in December1851. Actually, Montreal was first (Dec. 9,) and Boston Dec. 29. So, IDK. Canada's has had better leadership, apparently.
It really depends where you live. YMCA depends on private donations and the support of local patrons to meet its annual expenses. The YMCA in Beverly Hills is super nice.
when your member of the ymca...the fee is taken out automatically...monthly as you would expect. if you decide to discontinue they let you but then... as of feb 2021 theres a $75 rejoin fee...total and complete cash grab #1 reason why i am never re-joining
They always freak out about people finding out they're wearing a wig, that millions of people wear everyday. or learning their real first name. Scott is a common first name. They probably had another Scott working there! He would of been better off to leave it be or use his fake last name. He wasn't going to hear Scott and think "Our CEO is named Scott! This is Undercover Boss!" I think it's more of a giveaway when they use the exact same cover story every time "A competitor on a reality show trying to find a new career".
It's too bad they only concentrated on 2 provinces. Also the YMCA talks a good game when it comes to involving frontline workers with getting to improve services but in my experience that wasn't the case very often. Still, all in all, I enjoyed my time working for the YMCA.
Gifts were kind of lackluster, from a monetary point of view. But it is a non profit so I understand. The gifts were well thought out and sweetly personal though. So kudos.
not paying for this young men to get a prosthetic made , or paying for surgeries and prosthetic changes and time to heal after surgeries is an insult to the young men. I was married to an soldier who lost his leg in a war , so I know what I am talking about , this young men does not need to stay in a wheel chair !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am mad , sorry

Wow!!! This is by far the best episode I have ever seen!!! So inspirational in so many ways!!!! ❤❤

Its funny how most of them reacted different when they found out who he was, some ppl are really caught up on titles
I have to say this is my favorite Undercover Boss! The employees & boss were all great
This is the best undercover boss I am touched by what he did for his employees I would be honored to work at the YMCA!!
Kila Morgan I do work at the YMCA and I am so honoured to work there
You could say, it's fun to work at the Yyyy Mmmm Ccccc Aaaaaaa
YMCA pays their employees like garbage to
Wewould love to hire you baby gurl
On my God, the brothers look identical! Incredible! Beautiful episode 🤗
That CEO is such s nice guy..I would be honored to work for someone like him.
I loved this episode! Their passion and giving spirits truly shined. It warmed my heart and really inspired me.
Shouldn't give spirits
Especially if they are driving
Spirits make you very drunk very quickly 😣😓😰😨😱🤮🤢😡😠
This Man when he brought his BIG BROTHER TO THAT OTHER MAN AS A GIFT. OUT FOR DINNER I WAS IN TEARS.
Not gonna lie if I were the boss I would've bought an that guy with a missing leg a prosthetic as a gift for being a great employee
That's very insensitive, that's why you're not a boss

nice talkers are always cheap.
honestly thought he would give them monetary help but turned out cheap national ceo.
great president.. understand his employees..salute u man..hope yr company more success in business..👍👍🙏🙏🙏
With the center part and the small eyes, he looks like Robin Williams's brother.
Andrew is a really terrific human being, and the Y is very lucky to have him.
Damn, lost his leg to a damn thorn bush thorn. Also, I think a prosthetic leg would and should have been an OBVIOUS gift at the end.
The man may not have wanted one, or it may not have been possible to attach one without carving off more of his leg.

Might as well given a stick and a parrot 🐦 ☠️ 🐦
Honestly he looks like a completely different person with hair. He doesn't look 60 at all with hair. Caught me off guard
awesome looking for 60 bro stay young at heart.
I don't know why this was recommended to me, but I'm glad it was!
Katie D
Same
I worked at silver lake with Stuart as a chef. One of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Super cool guy.

What happened to the last story cut off how dare .........
did anyone else start crying when the brother walked in??
They look alike!!!
no i didn't. not at all.
The CEO seems like such a nice guy and I'd love to work with him tbh
you want a sugar daddy lol
Great show but the music tends to block out the talking.

Canada is nice places. I hope can't visit there soon.
We lost one in ontario canada but not many are left and that's in the niagara region
When I used to go to the YMCA daycare we had a granola bar for snack, and definitely didn't get to cook.
Best episode ever!
When he brought out the brother. Yikes someone started cutting onions around here
LOVED IT.............
What about the safety? What about the lack of staff?
tina andersen
Ikr
Omg I worked as a lifeguard at a ymca in Calgary. This is my first time seeing this 😭
He a true Mrs Doubt fire in the making
Awwww what sweet people
I always come to the comments first so I’m not disappointed by cheap bosses
how come the sodexo episode wasn't working???????????????????? huh?
A bobcat and no new truck?
This one kind of passes off how do you judge volunteers when you make millions
I’d really love to see a program of undercover boss when they work with the incompetent staff that we know every company employs
Awwww awesome 🌟❤️🙏🏿
Canadian YMCAs are so much nicer and built up than in the US!
? Where do you live/how many have you visited? We have some beautiful YMCAs in Minnesota. Back in the '80's, when I first started using the Y, it was a pretty old Y in Austin, Texas. So, maybe it's an older organization in the US, so the facilities maybe can be more dated.

One guy gets a forklift and the other got Feng Shui!
That was a sweet one.
what great stories - "What about Bob?" best story
He sells burgers 🍔
It seems like the businesses in Canada do not offer as much to there employees as in America.
In America, climbing that high on a ladder without being harnessed in will get you slapped with a huge OSHA fine
Yeah so they can stick their nose in even though the employee clearly consented.
@@brysoncherry9884 If he hadn't the episode would have been over, and his identity would have been exposed.
i love undercover boss i love it
when your member of the ymca...the fee is taken out automatically...monthly as you would expect.
if you decide to discontinue they let you but then...
as of feb 2021 theres a $75 rejoin fee...total and complete cash grab
#1 reason why i am never re-joining
Is it "YOUNG MEN CHRISTION ASSOSIATION "???
Why do all these undercover companies don't know how their operation is running ? What system do they have ?
i love it so much
One legged man needs a artificial leg.
dang no money? they can go to a meeting to get those things nothing for what they have really done! cheap skates!!
Makes me have a different look at what the YMCA is all about
Yep. Good old YMCA. Where all the perverts and sickles like to hang out. Good place.
man i remember when my school used to do taco in a bag cept we did it with doritos
Your Board should go to the YMCA they need help .
Timeless stories
Im a member of the ymca
This woman listed 100 family members that died ..lol
It's RobinnWilliams with out a doubt.
Robin Williams, without a Doubtfire.
canadians are so nice
you haven't met us all.lmao..
Hahaha yeah right!
Just for laughs.....
You lost me at the C in YMCA, sorry
Not my twang, but I love all of you !
Ive been to silver lake as a boy. Nice place. From kelowna!
geuleuh kitu weh hungkul.. wakwaaaww..
Grass seeds over Snow ?

why
Why what ?
I didn't enjoy working for them.. absolutely terrible experience!
Lla Ming what happend
I don't get what your talking about...
*me being from east van and knowing exactly their locations at all times* >
He was so cheap he didn't give them any money
It’s a charity.
Did anyone noticed Stuart Bob where's Kevin
Ymca is all about the big corporate and what they can get.not to help out less fortunate
I thought he'd give them money at least like other ceo's and/or paid trips too
I want to work for the ymca
Okay... they have 40,000 staff/volunteers and 51 locations??? That’s 784 people per branch... that doesn’t seem right lol
Well, since most are parttime/seasonal, maybe that has an impact.
How many of them are working at corporate?
Thanks for canandian health care.. He should be walking on a prosthetic leg.. so much for government health care? Hello!!!
Just like medications you have to pay for prosthetics...
He may not want one
At 27:09 there’s a girl wearing a one direction shirt and I literally can’t
Gifts were kind of lackluster, from a monetary point of view. But it is a non profit so I understand. The gifts were well thought out and sweetly personal though. So kudos.
Although come on! Buy the guy a prosthetic leg!
I hear it’s fun to stay at the ymca
Why didn't they have on plastic gloves when they were preparing the food
It's not required everywhere for food prep. Lots of ppl are less likely to wash their hands when wearing gloves and theres more kitchen injuries
spread grass seed - on top of the snow?
relcychoho yes no problem
Yup, it's winter so the birds and mice are hungry; picking seed off the top of the snow is the easiest place for them to feed on it.
awesome
greT
The YMCA is the best
Shoulda got the guy a new leg lol
Why did u want to stop 🛑 making videos here?? 🤷🏼♀️😭
Is he doing this change for everyone?! Or just one location because that’s not good leadership
not paying for this young men to get a prosthetic made , or paying for surgeries and prosthetic changes and time to heal after surgeries is an insult to the young men. I was married to an soldier who lost his leg in a war , so I know what I am talking about , this young men does not need to stay in a wheel chair !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am mad , sorry
Maybe it was his own decision to not get one.
He may not want a prosthetic
I knowest that he doesn't have a scooter I think that would be better for him to get around the y big area that is there
IF YMCA is a 'charity'---- then why do people have to pay to join?
Birds EAT SEEDS!!!!!!!!
Working at the Y is the worst thing ever
major of Canada ceo never give them no 💲💲💲
YMCA is a non-profit charity. It's not a huge profit-driven corporation like other companies featured on Undercover Boss that can give away $$$.
Out in the Woods.ya Need a Diesel truck !
Diesel engines don't like Canadas sub-zero winter temps.
He looks and sounds like Les Stroud.
I went to the YMCA Sheppard and Bayview check it out for membership did not feel very welcome. So didn't join.
"we are trying to learn from the people from accross the country". So get out there ! No your CEO will do you JOB ! Geez
Me: watching this and seeing someone with my name kill them self
Also me: is this a prediction that I’ll kill my self?????? Wut????
