  • NVIDIA's RTX 3090 Ti GPU launched today, but supply is extremely low due to shutdowns in Shenzhen. The EVGA RTX 3090 Ti is one of the few cards out in the first wave.

In this review, we're looking at the RTX 3090 Ti FTW3 that EVGA sent over. The card gets benchmarks for power, thermals, and gaming performance vs. the RTX 3090 non-Ti, RTX 3080, RX 6900 XT, and a few more. We also spent some time overclocking the card. Overall, as it's an ultra high-end enthusiast card, we'll probably spend more time with this under liquid nitrogen once we can get an unlocked VBIOS!
We got this card only 2 full days before launch, so we crammed as many tests in as we could (with a particular focus on thermals and power, given the 450W TDP of the stock 3090 Ti). This was what we could pull together in those two days. We have more we want to do, and that's true basically in every review, but this will help people considering an early purchase of the 3090 Ti.

You already got that with 3000's high end. 1440p still remains a sweetspot for high end high refresh rate gaming, so even when budget is not an issue you SHOULDN'T buy the 4000 series purely from a power consumption and cooling perspective - you'll be heating your room like a motherfucker.

Yeah depends a lot on what you pay for electricity. I pay about 0,14€/kWh including tax, so running a 3090 Ti for 5 hours per day for a year would cost me
      5h/day x 365days/year x 0,5kW x 0,14€/kWh = 128€/year
Comparing that to my 3080 with a 320W power draw:
      5h/day x 365days/year x 0,32kW x 0,14€/kWh = 82€/year
The price difference is kinda negligible at my energy price (luckily I got a flat rate two year contract last summer, and the contract came into effect in October).
