Sometimes there is an air pocket inside the gun . The air expands and forces the glue out. By pumping the glue out until you hear a pop you can stop most of the dripping then after gluing the item tap the surface a few times with the tip to prevent stringing.
Thank you, thank you! I was going nuts with my Gorilla glue sticks just squirting out of my gun when I pressed the nozzle. It ruined so many projects! I then realized that my glue gun is probably 25 years old!! I don't know if they made low temp in those days! And my Gorilla sticks are all white so that explains so much!! You are a gem!
You're the cutest! Thanks for your help, I was definitely using the wrong glue sticks!!! I was recently organizing my glue gun/glue stick drawer and actually separated the glue sticks by color clear and white (thinking they were just different brands!!!!)! Thanks to you, now I know!!!
Oh, I’m kinda glad that the leaking is a feature and not a defect on mine! Ngl I feel kinda tempted to test out one of those glue guns with “suction design” feature (to prevent spills) but they’re like the same price as 6 glue guns!!! Waaay too expensive 😢 I’ll just stick to my old glue guns haha
I hear you! Glad the video was helpful. If it makes you feel anybetter, I got sucked into the hype and bought one. Sooooo not worth it. The one I bought, when the glue that got sucked up came out, it was scorching hot. Burned my project. Gave it to someone else. No thank you! 🤣
Very informative video. I was wondering. I am trying to fix my moms old duel temp glue gun. It has an issue with backflow, what I mean about that it when trying to push the glue stick through it hot glue will travel back up the tube and out from the feeding point. I'm thinking of replacing the pressure spring with one that's more firm since the trigger seems to moves just a bit too quickly when squeezed. Although some glue does come out the end, I feel the gun itself may have a blockage. I have removed a glue stick from it during one of the test and found that the center of the stick was still intact and the outer was nice and melted. Which gets me to thinking about both a possible blockage and too soft of a trigger pull.
My brand new glue gun continuously oozes glue with the sticks that are supplied with it. Frustrating as this is the 3rd one that does this and feel like giving up using glue guns. Can you recommend a brand please?
Hi, sorry for not responding sooner. Yeah, it's happening with a lot of the current glue sticks. The problem is they're putting too much wax in the sticks to make them cheaper. Before buying a new brand...and this is going to sound really weird...try putting your glue sticks in the freezer (if you have one). It makes the wax melt slower, so it could work. Just make sure you wipe them with a dry cloth before you use them. Let me know how that works, and then I can give other suggestions. 👍
That's a tough question, tbh. I haven't purchased a new gun in almost 10 years. I have a video on the different types. Since you're commenting on the leak video, I'd suggest getting a dedicated either high or low temp gun with the sticks that go with it and stay away from dual temp. Ad tech used to be really good, but I don't know about tge current quality. Sorry. Wish I were more help.
Other than what I talk about in the video, there really isn't any other solution. It's either the glue sticks, or it's broken. Do you have a high temp or low temp glue gun?
Then your trigger is probably broken. You can unplug it and unscrew it. You can try replacing the spring. (I have a video showing what's inside a glue gun). Other than that, I'd suggest a different brand.
@@MakerHighSchool my god I'm reading these comments /questions, did ANYONE WATCH this video or just come on to ask damn questions? I don't know how you do it. I would be talking to these people like the idiots they are. You literally answer each question they are asking you. My answer to every single one? Watch the video. It's faster than waiting for a response.....dumb ass. I'm sorry, I just couldn't help it.
I'm new here ... love your knowledge! AND, you are so pretty. I am a former professional, media makeup artist and would love to know what lipstick you're wearing here? It's beautiful . Thanks for your videos and I will share to my craft community.
Do you have a recommendation for a good glue gun with enough consistency to make filigree? I bought a rather cheap one from Joann's, and it has a problem with pooling randomly.
Honestly, I think you'd be better off with a melting pot, and applying with a toothpick or something similar. I have one over on my instamorph video, so you can see what I'm talking about. There will be stringing, but I use embroidery scissors to clip it off, then hit it with a hair dryer to get rid of bumps and to smooth the edges. Hope that helps.
Hi, i have glue gun which uses 7 mm dia Glue sticks in it. After my glue gun has become hot, the glue starts coming out like pouring out on the floor and keeps coming out. As you mentioned its normal i guess due to the Hot element in the Glue Gun. Can you just clear it here, is it protecting the glue from burning inside the glue gun so thats y it keeps pouring out due to heat?. Thanks for the video as well.
MakerHigh yeah it seems the same, but i have one more doubt here, my gun doesn't hold my Glue stick back. It keeps slipping down towards the hot point automatically. I measured my glue stick also, its 6 mm dia not 7 mm so its not being gripped properly. That might be the issue??
I bought the ryobi cordless glue gun and the glue runs out constantly. I just got it and I’ve used almost a whole glue stick and haven’t actually used it. Just turns it in to try it. Guess I’ll return it and try another.
Ughhhh looks I have a new glue gun in my future... again. I have only had this glue gun for a year. It's the one that takes the jumbo sticks (a much larger than normal sized one. It's about the size of a pistol. Anyway, just wanted to say thank you for the explanation. It's just too bad it isn't closer to Christmas. Lol 😁 Is there a specific glue gun anyone can recommend?
Happy the video was helpful! I wish I could recommend a brand, but I've had problems with most of them. It's sort of a crap shoot if you get one from a good batch or not. Good luck!

I just brought a new glue gun and when I switch it on it heats up to the needed temp but after that the glue starts flowing out automatically.. even though I don't want this to happen...and just b'coz of this my half of the glue stick wasted.. What to do?.. Pls
My glue gun is leaking too... i bought it online... da descrptn gven is "Variable Heat Setting-No" I cant understand wether its high temp or low... how do i knw dat???
I'm looking at some glue guns that sound similar. Some of them have a know or screw you can use to adjust the heat. If you still can't change the temp, I would stick with the high temp glue sticks to minimize the leaking. Good luck!
Do you know what's wrong with my glue gun? It started acting up just few weeks after I bought it. The glue doesn't come out when the gun is already really hot (like the body itself it way too hot I have to use gloves to be able to use it), even after I push (?) the trigger as hard as I can. It's sounds like it might be a problem with your heating element. That can be dangerous, so I'd advise returning it and getting a different one. Glad you were careful. 👍
Sorry, was working on the video that went up today. There could be a clog in the heating element, OR the glue sticks could be a millimeter too large (so they're melting when they hit the element, but not feeding. It's usually the first problem.
I sounds like the feeder is jammed. Your best bet is to get a new glue gun. If there were an easy fix that didn't include the risk of electrocution, I'd totally offer it.
@@MakerHighSchool i think i have a similar problem. my glue gun was working perfectly fine then lately when I use it, the melted stick backflows so it gets stuck then very little would come out if I push it. i'd like to note also that I used a different glue stick. i was using a different glue stick when it was still working fine (not sure about the temp of this new one looks clear but yellowish?). before when I plug it in, it oozes, but now it doesn't. what could be the problem? i hope you'd notice this so i'd know if it's time to buy a new gun or just the stick is the problem. There's probably a problem with the heating element not getting hot enough at the tip ( i.e. a clog), or the trigger isn't advancing the glue correctly. Either way, you should return it and get a new one.

It should be dripping, not pouring out. If it's pouring out, you gun is too hot for your glue sticks.

You shouldn't be pulling on it. You can break your trigger or assembly. The gun is only designed for the stick to go forward.
